Jared Harris of ‘Mad Men’ is engaged to long term girlfriend Allegra Riggio

Are you a “Mad Men” fan? If so, there’s a good chance that you adore Jared Harris, a.k.a. “Lane Price.” To be certain, Kaiser is the biggest fan of Don Draper & Co., but I consider myself to be a moderate devotee since I wait awhile and watch every episode once it hits Netflix … which generally means that I watch each given season weeks prior to it’s successor hitting AMC airwaves. Of course, that means that I’m also privy to Twitter spoilers, but I’m afraid that’s just part of the internet existence.

Let’s get back to Jared Harris, who made it through most of Season 5 without too much trouble, but then it all went very badly very quickly. In his personal life, however, Jared is striking a seemily perfect balance, for he’s just gotten engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Allegra Riggio. Miss Allegra already posted a picture of her heart-shaped ring to her Allegratastic Twitter (and Vine) page, but here are the details:

His character Lane Pryce may have met a sad fate on last season’s Mad Men, but life is good for Jared Harris.

That’s because E! News has learned the 51-year-old actor is engaged to longtime girlfriend Allegra Riggio!

A source tells us Harris got down on one knee Sunday on the beach in Malibu at sunset and proposed to the TV host and lighting designer. He presented her with a heart-shaped diamond ring with a mounting in the shape of an “H” for Harris.

And last night at Bar Lubitsch for Allegra’s 38th birthday, the couple surprised a roomful of about 75 guests by announcing the good news, which Riggio herself later confirmed on Twitter.

“We’re engaged! #TeamHarris” she tweeted.

The veteran actor met his bride-to-be at a comedy show three-and-a-half years ago, and the duo have been together ever since.

Harris, who is the son of late British acting legend Richard Harris, most recently appeared on the big screen playing Ulysses S. Grant in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. He is next set to star in the action-adventure fantasy, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, hitting theaters in August.

Congratulations to Jared and Allegra! I feel awful for feeling the need to point out that her name reminds me of an allergy-medication commercial, but that’s to be expected. She must get that A LOT. However, she’s very cute, and she obviously makes Jared very happy. Beyond the obvious, this Allegra chick really has a signature “pose,” doesn’t she? I’m tempted to label it a “Pataky,” but it’s not quite that triumphant of a posture.

Wow she is gorgeous! Yeah that pose is pretty try hard
It’s a wonderful show we watch it right away my man likes it too 🙂

  2. Holly says:

Yay, Lane gets live to another day with a lady who really digs him, good for him! (Still miss him on MM!)

She’s odd: at first I thought “wow,” then that her face looks like someone stretched her head over a too-small balloon, and then the upper tramp stamp kind of killed it for me. Ah well, what can you do?

A heart-shaped ring though… not sure what I think of it, it strikes me as a marrying-a-younger-woman ring, IDK??!!

  3. Joiq says:

Wow she looks like she’s in her twenties! And I didn’t think of meds when I read her name. I thought of that Nickelodeon show ‘Allegra’s Window.’ Don’t judge me.

    • Becky1 says:

Yeah, I thought she was much younger than 38. 51 and 38 isn’t too bad of an age difference.

I really enjoyed Lane and was sad that they killed him off last season.

  4. Audrey says:

I hate heart shaped diamonds. They somehow always look cheap.

  5. CooCooCatchoo says:

Her name reminds me of that “Austin Powers” character, Allota Vagina. Kinda looks like her, too.
I had no idea he was Richard Harris’ son – he resembles him so much, though.

  6. moon says:

Hmm. Heart shaped diamond. Gold band. Ugh.

  7. Emma says:

Her signature “pose,” is hilarious. I can’t stop laughing.

  8. decorative item says:

I’d marry her, she’s lovely! But, I’d ditch the ring.

  9. DeltaJuliet says:

The ass forward pose kills me. I feel like saying “Really? Are you saying that’s your best angle?” I don’t care how great a butt you have, if it’s better than your face, your doing something wrong.

  10. Nerd Alert says:

It reminds me of the allergy medication, too, though it was probably her name first.

GAH, can you imagine if you were born before the nineties and your mom thought “Viagra” was a nice name?

  11. Lana says:

it irks me that one of his eyebrows is up.
    anyways congrats to the couple!

  12. TygerTyger says:

“Allegra” means “happy/lively” in Italian, which seems to suit her. Names like “Christine” and “Michelle” are so common. There is nothing bland about these two!

Also, she looks gorgeous working the plunging backs of those dresses. You would do the back pose, too. Trolls.

The ring is sweet, IMO. Other more comprehensive news reports say she designed it, which makes it full of significance and meaning to them. I hope she writes an article for xojane.com about it.

Best wishes to the happy couple! I hope if her wedding dress has a back plunge, she works that too.
