These are photos of The Bling Ring‘s special screening in New York City last night. I’m still not convinced that this movie is going to be “all that,” and while I did enjoy Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation, her directing style turned to one of excess somewhere around Marie Antoinette. Oh well, I’m sure this movie probably wasn’t that expensive to make with Emma Watson as the only real star plus a bunch of unknown actresses and actors, so the film will probably make modest returns.
Emma wore a rather subdued little black dress that I thought was pretty cute and featured a v-neck and low back with a slightly ruffled hemline. This is the sort of dress I would wear if I could get away with not wearing a bra. I can appreciate that while Emma is the star of the premiere, she didn’t wear anything huge or flashy, and she looks so lovely while embracing her natural skin color and not going for the orange vibe like her movie character. Plus, that sleek hair and slash of crimson lipstick are just yummy.
Sofia Coppola played it safe on the red carpet as per her usual routine with a floaty white dress that looks like an extra-long t-shirt. Her hair looks exactly like mine does at this very moment, which tells me that we’re both in need of a change.

Apparently he’s had terrible trouble with them. He’s had several surgeries, has said they’re in pretty much in constant pain and he can only wear slippers/sneakers. Having said all that, if I were a dude and looked as much like and old lesbian as he does, I’d skip the toenail polish, fo sho!
She looks lovely, I think you’ll be disappointed with Emma’s looks if you expect them to wow you, she does very interesting things with her looks and I feel like it really suits her personality – I don’t get the sense that she’s trying to be something she’s not.
Oh and as I was scrolling down, Steven Tyler’s photo made me LOL, so different from everyone else.
I like the black dress, I’d wear it.

Not good but not bad either. a tiny gold belt would make this dress better.
A bit boring, i think she plays it too safe. She chooses ‘classic’ 99% of the time where she would be having fun with fashion at her age and with what is available to her.

I like Emma and think she’s a smart and sweet girl but she’s boring and her acting is mediocre at best.
I do have to give her some credit for not doing as much of the “lets shock the public by starring in semi pr0n movies and wearing very little so i can prove I’m not a child actor any more” schtick. I really hate it when actresses who starred in kids movies or on Disney, are then dressed in stripper clothes and put in movies solely to shock us into thinkingof them as “adults.”.
Her people have done a little of that with her but not too much, which is a positive.
Right? Especially because that kind of attention-seeking behavior is seriously juvenile. If you have to shout “I’m a grown up!!!” then well, you’re probably not actually all that grown up.
she seems to make good career choices. i think she wanted to distance herself from the character she is playing. there were only two options very glamorous or this.
She looks a bit like Rooney Mara in those pics to me, honestly. These young women gotta stop smirking and “smizing” all the time.
Taylor Swift is the absolute worst offender at the moment. She never smiles anymore.
I used to love her style, but now I think her clothes are just underwhelming.
Her big cannes debut wasn’t all that and now it’s just the same boring black dress.

This dress does nothing for her and doesn’t seem to fit very well, and the shoes do not go with the dress. She’s dull.
Well, she finally got her makeup right! As for her style…my stance on her is if you don’t expect much, she impresses you most the time. Not this time, though. Is it supposed to be baggy?
I’d say the dress is too understated, even for her. And this is a girl who does know how to bring it on the red carpet (see HP7&8). Which makes me think that maybe this is on purpose? She’s the biggest name in the film, but she isnt the lead, so she doesnt want to steal the spotlight from her co-stars, and Sophia?
