There have been rumors for some time that Charlie Sheen is still enamored with Denise Richards and that he’s been begging her to reconcile with him. Denise is too level-headed, of course, and while she’s willing to step up and care for Charlie’s twin boys with his junkie ex, she’s not naive enough to think he’s changed at all. It turns out that not only does Charlie adore Denise, his parents do too. A new article in the Enquirer claims that Charlie’s dad Martin Sheen has been begging his ex daughter in law to take his son back. Does Martin not read TMZ?
Charlie Sheen… just called in the heavy artillery… aka dad Martin Sheen! “Clever move,” said a friend of the family. “Even though it’s years since Denise split from Charlie, Martin still refers to her as his daughter-in-law, and she regularly drops off her two girls to visit with Grandpa and Grandma. So just a week ago, Martin dropped in on Denise and started asking question about how she and Charlie are getting along. Then he told her: ‘He’s doing much better, you know!’ And he mentioned how Charlie’s always talking about his regret at messing up their marriage. I believe it. I believe that Charlie’s parents see that he’s somewhat sober and coherent and think some kind of flip was switched in his life. Martin may be naive about his son, but his ex wife knows the score. Charlie is the same porn star-loving, tiger blood drinking, insane guy he’s always been, he’s just cut down on the drugs enough to function. Case in point: TMZ has text messages between Charlie and Teen Mom turned p0rn star, Farrah Abraham. Farrah was reaching out to Charlie to hang out with her and he sounded very receptive. He’s surely seen her ahem, work.
In response to those text messages being leaked, which apparently didn’t result in a date because they’re from last month, Charlie lambasted Farrah. He wrote to TMZ:
hey, you desperate guzzler of stagnant douche agua;
I truly do not recall giving you permission to globally reveal any communication between us. congrats on surviving your lobotomy and an even bigger congratz on the recent attempt at porn.
your daughter must be so proud.

I think she’s way smarter than that. It took like a long time for her to get in a good place after dealing with Charlie’s crap, and now that she’s raising 5 kids, she knows she can’t do that again.
And it angers me that Martin would put Charlie’s wants above Denise’s and the kids’ needs. Doesn’t he realize how destructive Charlie could be to their stable lives?

Messed up kids? Martin Sheen’s other children, Renee and Ramon seem to be happy, well-adjusted adults and as far as I know, Emilio never had any of the issues that Charlie Sheen has. Charlie Sheen seems to be the only one with problems.
Martin was pretty effed up whewn his sons were kids. I remember hearing stories from the set of Apocalypse now that were insane. And he had his kids around him on location. Emilio Estevez says thats where he first had the hard stuff, aided by Lawrence Fishburne. Martin was a very shitty dad. The only thing that redeems him is that he acknowledges the damage he did to himself and his sons.

I love Martin Sheen. But how did he end up with such a disgusting son? Who talks like that to other people? Especially publicly. I would be so ashamed if that were my child.
There’s only so much you can do to control your children’s decisions when they are adults. At least it shows Martin loves his children despite all of Charlie’s antics. Charlie’s hard lifestyle has taken the best of him but that doesn’t mean his father should stop loving him and/or give up on him

Martin is a great actor, he wasn’t a great father.
I remember reading an interview with Emilio where he said the four siblings were allowed to run wild, in his case going out at 14 drinking and having fun whilst in the Philippines during the making of Apocalypse Now.
He later asked his parents about their upbringing and they replied:
‘We had four of you. If we had to lose one, we would. We were just trying to survive.’

As much as I love Martin Sheen, I remember when Denise was pregnant the second time and she had left Charlie, that he accused her of inventing stories about her son. I read he had called her “sad”. I hope she doesn’t get back with him.

i disagree that Charlie has blown his career. Despite all his personal life crap, he’s still employed and he seems to be doing very well financially (how he has managed that is beyond me– his financial planner is a friggin’ genius).
Charlie looks older than Martin. (And is everyone forgetting that Martin went through his own coke-loving days, causing a rift in his family and impacting his own kids? And I say this as someone who likes Martin Sheen.)
No-I remember. And just because Martin Sheen is an activist, and a strong Catholic doesn’t mean he was/is a good father or grandfather. There has never been any indication that he and his wife are that involved with their grandchildren. I take this story with a large grain of salt.
There is no sane and serious woman who would get back with Charlie. Even if he didn’t do drugs anymore -LOL like someone believes that- he’s a serial womanizer, he like ’em trashy and kind of pornstar. Denise is much better, I hope she’ll find a reliable healthy man.
Martin loves his son and is probably trying to see the best in him. But Denise seems like a sharp enough gal to not go back down that road. If she remarried him, the challenge would be gone.
He probably thinks that if Denise got back with him and the kids were there, Charlie would curb his lifestyle.
Note to Martin: Only way that will work is if Charlie curbs his lifestyle before, and stays sober for a while. He should know that for heaven’s sake.
I love Martin Sheen. He seems like a great dad, although he sounds like he sees Charlie with rose tinted glasses. Who knows though, probably did tell him off privately. He should really know that Charlie is NOT a great husband and probably not a good dad and he should keep his nose out. He will never change.

If this is true, Martin and the rest of the family need to forget about Charlie and just be thankful their grandkids have Denise to take care of them, and hopefully help her out when they can.
One thing I’ll say about Charlie Sheen. He’s a mess, knows it, and makes sure his kids aren’t around it. He’s generous to Denise and Brooke, but knows the kids should be close but not at is house.
I do give him props for that. Other than that he’s a drunk/stoned a-hole with a demented sense of humor.
I admire Denise absolutely. However – thinking about this from Charlie’s angle, I can’t figure out why he wants to be back with her.
Sobriety effort? Tempting answer – maybe he sees what RDJ’s wife does for his sobriety and would like Denise to do that for him – as well as raising all those kids. The thing is – I don’t see him serious about sobriety right now, so no.
Sex? She is pretty, but no. He has plenty of sex of all types available to him.
Winning? He lost something of value when he lost Denise, so maybe his ego needs her back – to show that he truly has no consequences for doing whatever he wants to do in life.
Love…? Maybe love. I’d like to think so. If so – let him wait, grow up in his “sobriety” for a decade or two, develop a mutually respectful relationship with Denise, and if she still likes him at the end of all that, go have fun as an old couple watching their kids and grandkids. It could be like “As Time Goes By” but with drugs and porn stars instead of a war separating the two lovers.

Like many addicts, he probably wants a caretaker. Not to help him quit, but to better enable him- clean up his messes (both social and physical), get him emergency medical treatment when ODing, etc.
