I’m a Yank living in the UK and can tell you that, slang-wise, cracker is a very big compliment here. He was clearly trying to be nice in the comment. Doesn’t mean he’s not a tosser in general however.

She seems like a beautiful woman and I’m sure she’ll do a lot better than Hugh — who by the way, looks “banged up”. He was recently on the Today Show where Meredith was fawning over him, the man looked “haggard” — Meredith must be vying for an Oscar or something, because Hugh was not looking good., Ugh!!I had to switch the channel..he was pretty fug in the the morning.
