Well, we (along with our new recruit Ter) are helping Brendan “find” his award, so it’s fitting. We’ll have to bribe St. Anthony though. I’ve probably got chocolate coins somewhere after Christmas – do they count?

re Garage – I believe you! I’m sure the play is fine – and to a certain extent the film could be to, if you don’t know Connemara or understand anything about the people or the language. But the characters did seem to be the worst stereotypes of the Irish in London – and the Irish was f*cking atrocious nevermind that none of them bothered their arses to do the accent properly, even when speaking English. Ok… I’ll stop. The only reason it comes to mind is that I remember it being talked about for awards when it was released – it doesn’t deserve it.

Mairead – Anthony it is! Was considering Jude but that would be implying that it’s a hopeless case/lost cause before we’ve even begun. Or we could try St Clare, patron saint of TV? (Have not seen Kings so will avoid but you must watch Garage. You really must and yes, I am insisting!)

It was a real treat to see Colin acknowledged for his nuanced performance and his speach was so heart felt and honest, a la Mickey Rourke, it made me feel good for him. In Bruges was something I came upon after our video guy recommended it. I’m So glad he did, and this is where I second Mairead for Brendan as the oscar choice, I think he was absolutely brillant. Loved the bromance he and Colin have going. Yeah Colin, yeah Mickey, Kate and the woman that won for the quirky chic movie.
