In the first few weeks of this year’s awards season, it seems that everyone already has enough Jolie-Pitt material to freak out about for a lifetime. There was their absence and individual wins at the People’s Choice awards. There was their appearance at the Critics Choice Awards - the losing, the fondling, the alleged “dagger eyes” Jolie sent to Anne Hathaway. Now people are parsing everything Golden Globe-Jolie-Pitt related, including Kate Winslet’s acceptance speech when Winslet won for Revolutionary Road. As she seemed genuinely out of sorts and very excited, Winslet tried to thank her fellow nominees, but temporarily forgot Angelina.
Double Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet says she forgot Angelina Jolie’s name at the ceremony because her ‘mind went blank’.
The Revolutionary Road star apologised to her fellow nominees on stage for winning the Best Actress Award, but forgot the Changeling star.
Kate - who was also awarded the Best Supporting Actress gong for The Reader at Sunday Night’s ceremony - said: “I’m so sorry Anne, Meryl, Kristin - and who’s the other one? Angelina.”
Asked about the incident as she prepared to fly home, Kate tapped her head and replied: “My mind went so blank. It was such an amazing moment.”
Quizzed on her chances of winning an Oscar, the English acctress added: “I have no idea.”

People are going to read into this what they will. Personally, I didn’t think it was a big deal. Winslet won an award, she was excited, her mind went blank. I don’t think she was consciously “dissing” Angie. But what do I know? I didn’t think Angelina was making “dagger eyes” at Anne Hathaway either - Angie just looked sort of drunk and bored. Perhaps Angelina heard some of that criticism, though, because even as Winslet forgot her name, Angelina was smiling. With no “dagger eyes”.

Kate and Angie seem like kindred spirits, I really doubt offense was taken.
And the whole eye-cutting drama was stupid, people are reading waay too much into it so I agree with you there.

I love, love Kate Winslet (since Heavenly Creatures) but it seems a little suspect that she remembers everyone else but blanks on the person who is arguably the most recognizable of the bunch, and by the way, sitting right in front. It was either a regrettable mistake or it was a bitch move. That being said, I don’t think that she deserved the supporting actress nod because she wasn’t a supporting character. I feel bad for the other women in the category who are indeed supporting actors who lost out because of the machinations of the studio. If her performance was that outstanding in The Reader then she should have been up in the best actress category for two films (like Leo a couple of years ago). The thinnification, the extreme blondeness, the fake tan, and the relentless Oscar campaign waged by Kate has me thinking that she’s not above a little bit of the old Hollywood b.s. I hope not but I think she’s changed.

Why on earth does Kate have to explain forgetting AJ’s name for a minute? What utter twaddle.
I’m pretty sure that everyone, with the exception of those who say “Thank you to everyone who made this possible”, comes off that stage saying “Damn, I shouldn’t have said that” or “Bugger, I forgot so-and-so”.
(maybe I’m just biased against this codology as I am horrific at remembering names and numbers and have regularly forgotten people’s names as I spoke to them.)

Why the hell should Kate Winslet explain why she forgot angelina’s name? God the world doesn’t revolve around angelina. It was Kate Winslet’s moment let her have it. She thanked who SHE wanted to thank. It was KATE’S hard work that got her there not angelina’s. Can’t the press just shut up? Tryin to make drama that isn’t there.

not everyone who gets up on stage after winning decides to name and thank (or say sorry to) everyone else who was nominated in that category-its asking for trouble because of course your mind is running a million miles a minute, and youre going to not remember everyone right off the bat.

The uber-blonde seems to be a new thing - that she has used in her recent movies. Maybe she had her hair changed for a role - liked it and kept it?
And she is not over thin - she looks lovely and normal. Toned and healthy.

It would be so much fun if it was a snub…but it so clearly wasn’t. Kate is a doll. She’s not one to diss anyone in public like that. Angelina is a big girl - she’s won awards and knows how stressful it can be to get up in front of a room and make a speech when you’re so overwhelmed.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if the shoe had been on the other foot. Methinks that the same people defending Kate’s honor would be ripping AJ to shreds. Look what happened last week with the manufactured controversy over the “death stare” that wasn’t or the reaction to the Seacrest incident. It’s not a matter of Kate “owing” AJ anything, it’s a matter of being polite and if you go out of your way to mention three of the other four ladies, the classy thing to do is to acknowledge the slight/mistake and move on.

How is she responsible for this stupid story.. she did not say or do anything.. Damn; it is fine to dislike someone, but this is so out of hand..Kate did not need to explain.. but the fact is Angelina was not the one asking for an explanation now was she.. She doesn’t owe Angelina anything.She doesn’t need to recognize her performance as it was not in the league of the women who were nominated.
I think Kate campaign was (and is) that she is a serious actress, not a tabloid star and media manipulator.
Kate knows her craft and she is well prepared, not jumping into a serious role with hideous accent and unprepared and then overcompensate like Angelina Jolie did in A Mighty Heart or any other role.

You can’t jump into a role after indulging and enjoying erratic life of instability and luxury with gazillion servants and personal assistants and an army of nannies.
You never hear about Kate’s rented mansions, private jet flights or publicied trips, and she never uses her children for photo ops or talks about their private life to promote her movies or image.
That was a subtle point Kate made and she was right.
Kate paid respect to the women who desreve and earned her respect.

I feel for Kate, because I’ve been in the same boat: I was salutatorian of my high school class, and at the end of my speech, I was so preoccupied with thanking practically every teacher I’d had since nursery school, that I actually forgot to thank my parents! The fact that there are at least ten comments on here saying she deserved the so-called diss (my favorite reason is because she snubbed Ryan Seacrest. If there were karma for that, she would have won.) just proves how insane the Brangelina hatred has become. This is for Me2.Have you actually watched the “Changeling”? I doubt you have or you wouldn’t have knocked Ange’s performance. She is terrific in the role. Clint Eastwood does not hire actress’s that can’t act - no matter how big a celebrity they are. He may hire Kate in the future, she is a wonderful actress, but he sure as hell won’t be hiring one dimensional “Chinnafer” any time soon.
