Does Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears have better style than Duchess Kate?

It started happening last week when everyone really started paying attention to Wimbledon. While there were celebrities in attendance, the UK papers really started giving Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears some major attention. She had been noticed and discussed before, of course, because she’s a pretty young woman and she’s dating one of the top tennis players in the world. But it seemed like all of a sudden last week, Kim Sears became a HUGE celebrity. Everyone was talking about what she was wearing, how she has a great blowout, whether or not she and Andy would ever get married. And then Andy won the final, becoming the first British man to win Wimbledon since 1936, which means that he’s basically a national hero now. And Kim gets extra attention too!

So, I’ve decided to cover her and see if you guys are interested in her. I’m including photos of Kim and Andy at the Wimbledon dinner/party on Sunday (where Kim is wearing the long black gown) and some photos of them out at Nobu last night (Kim is in the short little black cocktail dress). Kim isn’t just a “professional WAG”. She’s a painter! She paints animals. Seriously. You can see her website here. Us Weekly also had a piece about “getting to know Andy Murray’s girlfriend”. I’m telling you, Kim is a STAR!

Andy Murray’s secret weapon at Wimbledon? His girlfriend, Kim Sears. The 25-year-old British beauty earned a lot of attention from cameras as she watched her 26-year-old professional tennis player boyfriend win Wimbledon on Sunday, July 7 by defeating Novak Djokovic in the 2013’s men’s singles final. Here, Us Weekly uncovers some facts about Murray’s stunning longtime love.

1. Sears is a 25-year-old artist. She specializes in animal portraits, and shares several of her paintings on her website. Murray revealed on Twitter that their dogs, Maggie and Rusty, were allowed to sleep in bed after his win.

2. Fellow Brits Sears and Murray have been dating for seven years. According to the Daily Mail, Sears met Murray through her father Nigel, a British tennis coach, at a tournament. Murray reportedly won Sears’ affection through flowers and text messages. The blonde beauty moved in with the tennis pro in 2009, and they share a home in Scotland. They briefly broke up, but reunited six months later. “It’s been seven, coming up to eight years pretty much — bar a few months in the middle — we’ve been together,” Murray told the Mirror of their relationship after his win. “It’s been a long time.”

3. Sears is well-known for her impeccable gorgeous sense of style, and has even been compared to Kate Middleton. She wore a mint-colored Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 dress to the Wimbledon final on July 7, and it’s already reportedly selling out. The Daily Mail also reports that Sears’ blowout hairstyle is one of the most requested looks at British salons.

4. She makes a good tennis girlfriend. “One thing that, I think, really helps with her is that she really understands the sport because she has been around it from a young age,” Murray said via the Mirror. “She was used to her dad traveling on the Tour when she was a kid so she knew what it was like to have that sort of distant relationship and that’s obviously helped a lot.

5. Sears may soon become Mrs. Murray. Fans are speculating that Murray may be ready to propose to Sears now that he’s accomplished his ultimate goal of winning Wimbledon. But when the athlete was asked by reporters if he would be popping the question soon, Murray demurred, “I haven’t thought about that yet.”

I do think he should just go ahead and propose to her. They’ve been together for so long! Why not make it official? As for her style and her hair… I prefer Kim’s style and her styling to Duchess Kate’s. Hand to God, Kim seems way more modest, mature and demure than Kate ever seems. And Kim’s blowout is SO much better than Duchess Kate’s sausage curls. Basically, Kim is getting so much attention because she seems genuinely cool, low-key, stylish and pretty.

    Hawt, she’s got beautiful eyes.

  2. MsAubra says:

    no, not really

  3. Chicagogurl says:

    She has dreamy hair.

    • emmie_a says:

I’m not necessarily impressed with her style but I love her hair. She definitely has better hair than Duchess Kate.

      I can’t believe she’s only 25 – she looks older than that.

    • Cazzie says:

Her hair is gorgeous, but I think she might have extensions (if you look at the photos, her real hair length appears to be about two inches below her shoulders. Her hair is sort of ubelievably gorgeous, if you know what I mean.

Not that getting hair extensions id a bad thing, it just makes her more relatable really.

      • emmie_a says:

Oh if she has extensions then I take back my praise of her hair! I’m not impressed with Kate’s hair bc she uses extensions and whatnot. But for overall styling, I do like Kim’s better.

  4. Jackson says:

I’m no KM fan-girl, but I think Kate has to fit within certain confines as the future QoE. She’s never going to set the fashion world on fire and I don’t think anyone should expect her to do so. I would never want the pressure of “Is the Queen going to think my outfit is acceptable??” Kim is a much more attractive woman to me and can also be more free and relaxed both in her dress and her personality. But, a thousand times ‘yes’ that Kate needs to lose those curls and that eye liner. Ugh.

  5. Georgina says:

I really don’t like the “they’ve been together X number of years, they should just get married already” way of thinking. Some people, myself included, don’t think there’s a time limit on how long a couple should date before they *should* get married.

    • Lisa says:

      Agreed!

I am glad to finally discover what Kim does as a job, though. Never would have guessed a painter.

  6. Alexis says:

    She’s 25?! He’s 26?! They both look like they’re in their 30’s!

    • A says:

      I know right? I’m shocked!

    • Joan says:

I thought the same about Federer when he was in his mid-20s. He has always looked about 10 years older than his real age. I’m sure a lot of it is due to over exposure to the sun and intense fitness regimes. Wear and tear to the body …

      Congrats on the win, Andy!

  7. Christie says:

Better style? How about nearly the same? That long black dress is totally something Kate would wear. And her eyeliner in the top pick is straight up Waity. Add a sausage curl and they’d be twinsies!

  8. Evie says:

    That clutch is ridiculous

  9. BooBooLaRue says:

She resembles Liz Hurley in one of those photos. Cut the hair!

  10. Bianca says:

She’s very beautiful, but I have to disagree on the blowout. It doesn’t look so great. By the way, I’m not a fan of Kate Middleton, but I think the way she styles her hair is perfectly fine – have you ever seen actual sausage curls?

    • Georgina says:

I don’t get the fuss about Kim Sears’ blowout, either. And ditto on the sausage curls. I don’t always like KM’s hair, but I’ve never seen her sporting actual sausage curls.

      • FLORC says:

Sausage curls are never a good idea unless you’re acting or in theatre doing a period piece. Kate’s hair at times and more early on has looked like it started out like those curls and got weighted down.
It’s not literal, but more mentioned in a mocking manner. Take it as that.

And Sears hair looks fine. Not super special, but fine. Kate’s hair in unedited photos is fried, broken, and over processed. Since pregnancy it’s gotten better.

And why are these women being compared? I’m still lost on this.

      • Georgina says:

It’s a lame mock and a tired one, too, because she’s never had sausage curls. There have been times her hair has been more curled at the ends than others, but that’s it.

  11. Tessa says:

She looks great, for 35. For 25 she looks old as hell, and the outfits seem dowdy for someone so young.

I think they both have stuffy old lady style, so if that’s the thing, then I think KM does it better.

  12. Dina says:

    She’s cute yeah.
Also- for whatever reason I find Andy to look like a douchebag. He’s just so unattractive and smug looking…

    • Spooks says:

Really? I think he’s hot. And he seems nice. I was rooting for Đoković, though, neighbours are neighbours.

    • Gaby says:

You’re so right about Andy. I’ve never liked him. He used to look smug and with a terrible attitude without even one grand slam tournament, and now that he’s won two, he’s even worse, he never smiles, he’s got no charisma whatsoever.

  13. Eleonor says:

    No, not better to me.
I find her styiling boring, and not that different from Kate.
    But she’s got wonderful eyes.

  14. Arock says:

    She’s beautiful.(god damn that’s nice hair)
The first pic is especially gorgeous.

  15. Samtha says:

She’s super nice in real life! I’ve met her a few times while volunteering at the Cincy Open (the Western and Southern Open, whatever). Her hair looks even better in person, too.

  16. RobN says:

Holy cow, she’s got some big feet. From the side, she’d look like an L.

I hate it when the press tries to pressure somebody into proposing. Like you want to be on the receiving side of that sort of proposal.

  17. Tess says:

    Wow she’s beautiful!

  18. Feebee says:

I’m sure she’s a lovely person but it’s always a negative when it seems like the media it trying to make the ‘it’ status happen, a la Pippa.

Besides Novak’s girlfriend sounds much more interesting.

  19. Anna says:

She seems so very WAG to me…and I would easily confuse her with 100 other WAGs. Kate may be boring, but she is distinct.

  20. minxx says:

    Lovely girl, very dowdy style.
I like Novac’s girlfriend more, she’s very pretty and stylish. Also, I kind of get a jerk vibe from Murray – after the win he went to hug his coach and Kim but forgot his mom (who cried after his win). Someone in the crowd reminded him and he went back to hug her but it all seemed cold.

    • Spooks says:

One of my favourite Wimbledon memories is when Ivanisevic won and he rushed to his father and they all cried. One of my favourite sports memories in general, actually.

  21. Guesto says:

God, leave her alone, don’t try and make her ‘happen’, she’s no Pippa, and it’s so not what she’s about. She’s been with him since she was 18, they have no interest in spin and people pleasing, they live really quietly away from the limelight and have never courted the media. You never see or hear about her other than when she’s supporting Andy.

Let them be who they are and not turn them into shallow gossip fodder.

  22. Abby says:

She’s so pretty! I love her eyes.

  23. NEENAZEE says:

I didn’t know Duchess Kate had any style…

  24. Reece says:

    1. I don’t know enough about her to form an opinion.

    2. Kate doesn’t have style. She’s a paper doll.

  25. A says:

    “I haven’t thought about it”

    Ouch.

  26. lisa says:

kim’s hair holds up to humidity really well

  27. aurelia says:

Phyllis Diller has more style than waits and pip midds.

  28. dominique says:

only because this is celebitchy could we please acknowledge the botox issue here? check out the photos on the DM story. How do you watch your boyfriend win the final at wimbledon and your eyebrows and forehead do not move? please.

  29. MinnFinn says:

In a race of whose style is more boring I’d say they’re neck and neck.

  30. Bex says:

I like Kim Sears look – she seems “real” in the sense that she’s not trying to look like a model. I also hate that I loved that mint dress at the finals (not a Victoria Beckham fan). I think it’s cute and not creepy how it almost seems like she’s dressing to look presentable but not to upstage her man’s time in the spotlight.

As for Kate, I would love it if they loosened up and let her dress more for her age and could wear lots of trendy, fabulous UK designers. I’m sure she has a ton of restrictions.
