Jonny Lee Miller films ‘Elementary’ Season 2 in London: would you hit it?

Here are some new photos of Jonny Lee Miller on the London set of Elementary. Yes, you heard me. For Elementary’s Season 2 premiere, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Jane Watson are returning to Sherlock’s old stomping grounds in London. The “hook” of Elementary is not just that Sherlock is transported to the modern age – which is why we love Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock – but that Elementary’s Sherlock has been banished/expelled from his home country (because of a drug addiction) and forced to become a “consulting detective” for the NYPD. The wonderful Aidan Quinn plays Captain Gregson, a New York policeman who understands Sherlock’s value.

Which is to say that I’m actually watching and enjoying Elementary. I know, I was shocked that I liked the series so much. Part of it is that I enjoy detective stories and crime procedurals (I spent years of my life as a Law & Order addict), but part of it is that Jonny’s version of Sherlock is actually enjoyable. Lucy Liu’s Watson is pretty good too, but the best part is that the two actors have a lovely, comfortable sort of chemistry. It’s not sexual and it’s not like they’re endlessly riffing off of each other. It just seems like they’re two characters who enjoy each other’s company.

The last episodes of Elementary’s Season 1 were really good – Natalie Dormer came in as Sherlock’s ex-lover and the story twisted and turned and I was genuinely surprised by what they did with the characters. I’m assuming that they’ve left the door open for Dormer to return in future episodes as needed (because that would be really interesting). I’m also interested in seeing what happens as Season 2 opens up and why Holmes and Watson are in London.

And yes, I would hit it. I’ve loved Jonny for years, and I’m glad that he’s finally found his place on American television. He’s been trying to make an American TV show work for a while, and I like his version of Sherlock – he makes the character new and interesting and much different than Benedict Cumberbatch’s version. One of my favorite parts about Jonny’s Sherlock? His Sherlock has Jonny’s tattoos! I love that the makeup people don’t cover up the tatts.

He is so so hot! Yummy.

  2. T.Fanty says:

    The other budget batch!

That said, possibly, now that he appears to be doing something to get his hair back.

  3. Jenn says:

Love him! I always hoped that he and AJ would reconcile, but I suppose that ship has sailed.

    • Holly says:

At least 75% of the AJ press should have gone with Jonny after the divorce (I’ll allow her 25% for her humanitarian record). He was always a bit too good for her imo, she needs a bit of malleable dud like Brad to make her happy.

All the better for us because we’ve got Elementary and JLM and not a guy walking with AJ on the red carpet. He’s the bomb-diggity!!

    • emmaV1 says:

The late 1990s was early in both of their careers. AJ had the famous father and feud and she was the Oscar winner.

Why exactly did Johnny “deserve” more coverage than her? She also proved herself more interesting (in terms of how she handles interviews) than him.

      • GeeMoney says:

They split long before she won that Oscar… their marriage lasted about a year… it just took them about 2 years to finally get divorced.

    • Miss M says:

me too! I really liked them together!

    • Kim1 says:

Is it possible to discuss JLM without mentioning AJ?

  4. Sue says:

No. But I really like his show!

  5. marie says:

the best I can give is a maybe, I like the show though..

  6. Sixer says:

I would hit it. Several times. With my special macrame belt with the beads. Not the one with the feathers. He’s got tats.

  7. Dawn says:

Yes I would. He just has that certain something that can’t be explained! I think he would be fun.

  8. Maria says:

He’s married which takes away the appeal for me but damn if I don’t love him.

    He’s a brilliant Sherlock.

  9. Mia 4S says:

Nope! Sadly he didn’t age well (for me anyway).

I couldn’t get into the show at all. It had its moments but is once again evidence that TV shows should go with the shorter seasons. 22 episodes has way too much CBS procedural bland!

    • crtb says:

I agree. He isn’t aging well. He was so cute in Eli Stone. I love the show but I no longer find him attractive.

  10. Heather says:

    Love Elementary. Love JLM.

  11. bron says:

He looks ruff. Elementaty is just a boring procedural. Zzzzzzzzzzzz He’s a bit scabby.

  12. TG says:

Love Johnny and will have to check out this show. A show where the detective is hot as hell is a good thing.

  13. Cece says:

These are lousy pics of him. He still has it!

  14. EscapedConvent says:

I adore Jonny lee Miller! & I love his Sherlock. I wasn’t sure about Elementary, either, but as it turns out, I love it. The actors fit very well together (Aidan Quinn helps). Elementary is the only network show I watch.

It was a bit risky to take on another Sherlock after all the Whoop-ti-do of Cumby & Freeman’s Sherlock & Watson, but they’re making it work. The show could be better written & I hope Season 2 does that.

Thumbs up to Jonny Lee! (My Cumby-Love remains unchanged.)

There is a bit of a dearth of things for me to hit these days so put me down for a “yes.” I can’t take being bored.

  15. Mary says:

Well, he looks exactly like an ex of mine, so….no.

  16. mkyarwood says:

    Yes, forever and ever.

  17. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

This is the dude who named his kid buster.

  18. Booboo says:

    That’s Joan not Jane Watson.

  19. Welldun says:

Have loved this guy since Hackers, so, same for AJ for me.

Anyway ladies! Check him out as Jordan Chase on Dexter…hotness…

  20. Julie says:

LOVE HIM. Ever since I saw “Hackers” with Jonny and Angelina, I was in love.

  21. Pam says:

I’ve adored him for thirteen years so a big fat YES, preferably over and over again! I agree with everything in this article. It’s “Joan” though. Not “Jane”.

  22. Idreaminprincess says:

Yep, would hit that and various other verbs.

  23. amilu says:

I don’t watch Elementary, but I’ve had a soft spot for him since Hackers. I know he probably has hair plugs or receives some sort of… follicular assistance (doesn’t he?), but he looks great!

  24. MrsNix says:

Would I? Every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Yes, please.

  25. vasi says:

I would rather watch over and over again the Benedict Cumberbatch “Sherlock”. The american version has nothing to do – at all (at least in my opinion)- with Sir Conan Doyle`s Sherlock Holmes, except for the name attached to the protagonist of the “Elementary” series. I can hardly wait the new season of “Sherlock!”

  26. Aroosa says:

It is Joan Watson not jane XD
