Pregnant Lisa Marie Presley on 4/7/08. The twin photos are on People.com
Lisa Marie Presley poses with her adorable three month old twin daughters, Finley and Harper, in the upcoming issue of People magazine. People has a preview online of the issue and the babies look so cute and alert. Presley talked candidly to People about her struggle to get pregnant after a medical condition that caused her to lose multiple pregnancies:
Elvis Presley’s only daughter, Lisa Marie, is now a doting mom to 3-month-old girls Finley and Harper – and she is showing off her tiny additions in the new issue of PEOPLE.
“I really wanted these babies,” says Presley, 40, who tried for two years to get pregnant before conceiving the twins.
“My blood was too thick and would clot, which caused several miscarriages,” she tells PEOPLE. “The moment I took blood thinners, I got pregnant.”
Presley and her guitarist husband Michael Lockwood, 47, also share their L.A. home with Presley’s children from a previous marriage: daughter Riley, 19, and son Benjamin, 16.
Life as a bustling family of six is “chaotic bliss,” says Presley.
[From People]
For anyone who suffers miscarriages there is an autoimmune disorder that you may want to ask your doctor about called antiphospholipid syndrome where the only symptom may be pregnancy loss. Courtney Cox had it and lost many pregnancies before doctors discovered the problem and she was able to successfully get pregnant with Coco. It sounds like that’s what Lisa Marie Presley is talking about and thank goodness she was able to get it treated in time to get pregnant with her twins. It must be so heartbreaking to have to go through that.
Presley was criticized for her fuller figure when she was first pregnant but it was not yet known to the press. She told People that she worked out up until the seventh month of her pregnancy to keep her weight down and that she only gained 30 pounds total. According to BabyCenter’s pregnancy weight gain estimator, Presley should have gained 35-45 pounds being pregnant with twins at 5’3″ tall, so that’s about right.

She used IVF? I must have missed that in the article.
I have this. It is aweful but thankfully the treatment isn’t too terribly difficult.

People also ought to check out Chinese medicine for infertility-not just acupuncture, but herbs. All of these ‘syndromes’-when western medicine doesn’t know what to call it they name it an autoimmune disorder. Give me a break=doesn’t anyone find it odd that we have so many mysterious auto-immune disorders?
Besides age, many women are deficient or have stasis,in chinese medical terms. Herbs, dietary shifts, very simple changes can and often do result in what would be considered ‘miraculous’ to western medicine. Obviously,I do not know if Lisa MP tried this first, doubt it,as she’d have no need for synthetic blood thinners if she had,but it is discouraging when I see how many people go through he*l and back to get pregnant,or use painful methods, etc.
No method is 100%,but Chinese Medicine is phenomenal for chronic situations, and the end result is not only pregnancy, but better health overall, for the long run,not just symptom relief.
Just my 2 cents;research the topic for in-depth info.

Good for Lisa. As long as they were not Michael Jackson’s kids..I’m delighted.

So what if she’s scientologist, Dante?
So what if you don’t agree with her religious beliefs? She’s still f-king human, and I’m sure her entire life isn’t defined by her religion either.
It must’ve been difficult for the woman. I’m glad to see her finally get to be a mother.

Congrats to Lisa and her family. It’s actually refreshing to see the occasional celebrity actually gain some real weight during pregnancy. (Rather than the big-belly-but-still-emaciated-everywhere-else look.) I went through waffles like they were going out of style during my second pregnancy, and I cherished every bite. Food never tastes better than when it’s satisfying a pregnancy-induced craving.

Errr, an extra “actually” in there, sorry. The “Edit” function is, well, not functioning for me today.
