Brave, fearless Mariah Carey wants you to know that she’s brave, fearless

Mariah Carey dislocated her shoulder last week. She injured herself on the set of the music video for the remix of “#Beautiful” which already has a music video, but I guess the remix needed one too. I’m guessing that Mariah was wearing crazy stilettos and that she was trying to maneuver and contort her body into the most slimming pose, and during the contortions, she just fell over and her shoulder dislocated. Hilariously, Nick Cannon was directing the music video. Which just means that poor Nick is NEVER, EVER going to hear the end of this EVER. Mariah was released from the hospital after a few days, and she had to make a video about it:

What I find absolutely hilarious is all of Mariah’s hysterical employees daring to talk over her because they’re so panicked that Mariah might fall down again. “BE CAREFUL. CAN YOU HELP HER INTO THE CAR.” Implicit: don’t make Mariah do anything for herself, even if it’s just getting into a car, because she will fall down and hurt herself and you will get fired.

Anyway, these are some new photos of Mariah performing at a charity benefit for Sandy Relief. I count only two costume changes… well, it is for charity, you know? If she had been getting a paycheck for a billionaire for the performance, she would have had at least four costume changes. What I really love, though, are Mariah’s fancy slings. They’re so wonderfully over-the-top, but I actually think there should be a significant market for blinged-out slings, feathered slings and fur-covered slings. Why not?

Last Mariah story – Page Six had an interesting piece over the weekend, with sources claiming that Mariah is considering leaving her label, Island Def Jam. Apparently, “#Beautiful” isn’t doing all that well, and Mariah blames Def Jam’s lack of promotion. Plus, Mariah has pushed back the release of her album, The Art of Letting Go because she wanted to tinker with it longer and it wasn’t up to her standards. “Sources” also claim that Mariah feels like Def Jam has concentrated all of their promotional efforts on Kanye West’s Yeezus. Go here to read the story.

  2. Tanguerita says:

MC is such a strange human being, she utterly puzzles me…

    • Diana says:

Definitely!!! The narcissism and delusion are truly awesome and full on with her…

      • lisa says:

she became a big star with she was a teenager and imo insecure

she’s frozen in time there like a bug in amber, end result is cray

  3. Apsutter says:

F*ck it…I can’t help but love her despite her diva act. You gotta admire her tho, she dislocated her shoulder, chipped the bone, and cracked a rib and went right back to work. Plus Nick said that she made him stay at the shoot and keep working.

    • Tapioca says:

You can’t hate a woman so committed to being a diva that she has a personal assistant hold her straw whilst she’s drinking through it, you just can’t!

    • Lola Falana says:

I feel the same way. I just can’t help loving this crazy bitch! Blinged-out and fur-covered slings? ONLY Mariah! LOL

    • Meaghan says:

Agreed. She’s Mariah. She can do whatever she wants. I mean the girl will only have sex to her own music! But at least she has the talent to back it up. Plus she seems like she would be super fun in that crazy friend kind of way.

    • Johanna says:

Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head and neck all because she refused to be told that she as a girl/woman could not continue her education. A year later she has recovered and has not stood down. Malala is brave and fearless.

Mariah Carey is just an egomaniac.

  4. Jane says:

Oh dear God, she is not brave or fearless. She injured herself. Get over it and move on. Next thing you know it she’ll have violins follow her wherever she goes playing in the background while she explains her horrific injury.

    • Raquel says:

Apparently, “#Beautiful” isn’t doing all that well, and Mariah blames Def Jam’s lack of promotion.

Yes, darling. Just like that gawdawful movie, Glitter, flopped because of September 11. Nothing in your flailing career has anything to do with the fact that people can’t stand narcissistic 40 something year olds who insist on dressing and writhing about like a 20something year old starlet.

    • OutstandingWorldCitizen says:

Thank you. This chick is delusional. I don’t like making jokes about mental illness. However she did have major break down post Mattola and b/c her movie tanked. And her overuse of the word ensemble in her classic crib episode it still riveting must watch tv. Ugh! She lives in a bubble that she and her rent-boy completely by into.

Brave is a word you used for soldiers, doctors working in worn torn countries etc. She is not brave. She showed up to perform at an event she agreed to be at before her “tragic” shoulder accident.

  5. Eleonor says:

Sorry but am I the only one who sees that huge nipple in the B/W photo?

    • Sannie says:

Had to zoom in, but I spotted it too (and now wish I hadn’t.. :))

      • pamspam says:

It’s her hair. I thought the same thing at first too, and did a double take. It’s the curl at the end of a strand of hair. 🙂

  6. Anna says:

OMG MARIAH WHY ARE YOU SUCH A WHINER? No, seriously, I think she is insanely talented and attractive, but what is with this insanity of needing to be carried on a lotus flower every second??????

  7. Lucy2 says:

You know, I think the world would go on spinning if she took a few days to recover. They’re making a music video. It can wait.

My guess is she dislocated it trying to dress in clothes 2 sizes too small.

  8. Kiddo says:

That as a hilarious headline, thanks.

So, in other words, the promos for Kanye’s album includes all the leaks that he is so “pissed” about, right? Wink wink.

  9. janie says:

How does she fit in the same room with her ego? I have to give Nick props for putting up with this delusional woman. Did anyone catch her on the 4th? It was priceless… She sat for the performance, bizarre.

  10. K-Rock says:

    Insufferable.

  11. Hautie says:

I can recall when Mariah could walk across a stage on her own. In heels.

I am convinced she has some type of issues with pills. Downers. Something.

Because she just does not remotely seem, to be mentally running, at a normal pace. And hasn’t in over a decade.

And the older she gets. The worst it shows.

Here is a nice reminded of the days, when Mariah could not only walk on her own. But sit down and stand up again. Without the help of four grown men.

And I completely agree. Poor Nick is never going to hear the end of it. Mariah falling off her heels.

I have been waiting for the footage of it, to show up on You Tube. Cause you know there is footage of it. From three different angles. 🙂

    • Emily C. says:

She could have some kind of neurological issue, or maybe she injured herself wearing all those ridiculous heels. I don’t think it’s pills — that’s not her style.

  12. Diva says:

I love MC. She and her crazy slings look great.

  13. NeoCleo says:

The woman has a great voice but she is so ridiculous her behavior makes me cringe.

I just can’t be having with her . . . at all. Won’t even listen to her stuff because she’s so ridiculous.

  14. Nicolette says:

The air kiss with the nurse at the end of the video is fabulous dahling! Yes she’s conjuring up images of Natalie Portman becoming the Black Swan, but only Mariah can work a feather covered sling.

  15. paranormalgirl says:

I don’t know why I love this woman, but I just do. She is simply who she is. And underneath all the diva antics is a woman with a good heart. I served on the board of the Fresh Air Fund for several years and what she gives to charity is amazing. And not just her money. She gives her time and herself.

    • I Choose Me says:

I’m so glad to hear that paranormalgirl. Mariah is my favourite diva. I will always have a soft spot for her and I’m happy to hear that beneath the persona is a warm, giving human being.

  16. TeresaMaria says:

I lost my “faith” in her after seeing a show where she showed her house. There was absolutely nothing interesting or even slightly meaningful coming out of her mouth. She just kept talking about her clothes, shoes etc. and came across really ignorant about everything else. I remember myself thinking “If you really think you need 400 pairs of shoes, at least be able to make fun of it”

  17. gg says:

She ain’t brave enough to sing live without a loud vocal tape running though.

  18. eliza says:

    She really needs some perspective.

  19. jemshoes says:

Mariah is so OTT sometimes it’s like she’s a cartoon character or something.

And I would have never imagined you could turn anything as ordinary as an arm sling into a fashion accessory?!

  20. Kosmos says:

Listen, I know Mariah’s a bit over the top and a bit diva-ish, but I still LOVE HER forever!!! She’s my girl, love her voice and even if I think she’s, yes, kind of over doing it all the time, she earned her way to the top. She’s utterly talented and I accept her anyway despite a few flaws…we’ve all had good friends that have a few quirks, and we love them anyway. We’re all different, folks!!

  21. Dr_No says:

Try being brave and fearless living one paycheck from bankruptcy. Better still, try hurting your arm like that and dealing with it at home, like 70% of the people in this country who can’t afford health insurance. Grow up, you pampered, self-important child.
