Princess Charlene extends her Italian vacation away from Prince Albert, of course

Ah, a summer of freedom. When we look back at the summer of 2013, will we say that this is the first and last time we saw Princess Charlene look happy? Or will this summer be the beginning of a new phase for Charlene? After two years, is Charlene finally “settled” into her role as Her Serene Highness, the de facto First Lady of Monaco? While Charlene has kept up a steady schedule of appearances – both solo and with her husband – it does feel like Charlene is starting to use any excuse possible to get the hell out of Monte Carlo. Last week she was vacationing with friends in Portofino, and now she’s on some yacht off the coast of Olbia, Italy. This is not the way to make a baby, Charlene!

But maybe this is the new Charlene. Maybe after two, long, tortuous years, Charlene and Albert have finally found out some kind of agreement that works for both of them. She gets to fool around with Kiwi rugby players and take vacations with friends and no Albert, and in exchange she gives interviews about how happy their marriage is and how she was crying tears of happiness during their wedding? And meanwhile, Albert gets to do whatever he wants to do, like always. I wonder how much longer she can hold out before she “has” to get pregnant?

You know what these photos remind me? Princess Diana’s last vacation, in the South of France with Dodi Fayed. A leggy blonde princess frolicking on a yacht. Diana wore a one-piece, and she was still all-legs and with that short blonde hair which, I’m sorry, Charlene has completely copied. She was with strangers too, away from her family. Sigh. I’ve always said that Charlene has far more in common with Diana than Duchess Kate ever has (Kate has more in common with Camilla, frankly).

Her companion is an 80 year old billionaire, Kerry Washington.

  2. Anna says:

Totally agree on the Diana comparison, except Diana didn’t figure out what she signed up for until AFTER the nuptials.

Btw, Char’s body is tremendous – but not like she’s trying too hard. She just looks naturally fit.

  3. FLORC says:

At least she still smiles. Even if it is only on vacations away from Albert.

Hm, it looks more like photos with an open mouth.
But she has this serious face nearly 24/7 so anything different looks like a smile.

I didn’t recognize her without her beige wardrobe!

  5. Anna says:

She look so much happier here and i love her black dress.

But i still call bull shit on her about the ‘tears of happiness’, she been told to keep hush hush about it.

She looks amazing without makeup. She is fresh and content here. I saw some pictures of her and her friend in the DailyMail and it was honestly the happiest and most relaxed she has ever looked.

Maybe it’s the pressure of being a princess that makes her appear unhappy and uncomfortable most of the time, maybe she really doesn’t like Albert, there can be a thousand maybes….But for me Monaco is the most democratic princely house there is; it’s a small country and the family seems to do whatever they want like any other normal family would.

She looks great, even in that pic where she is bending forward and the paps so rudely got her at an unflattering angle she still looks awesome. I can not IMAGINE what I would look like at that angle lol.

But what is up with that last outfit? It looks like grandma gear. Come on Charlene keep it young!

I agree, at least she looks happy there. Good for her… This is what happens when you sell your soul to the devil (Albert). She does remind me of Diana.

  9. Decloo says:

To me she is just so mannish. She moves awkwardly and she has those huge swimmer shoulders. Then she wears all those shapeless colorless clothes. Maybe Albert can’t get turned on by someone who isn’t very feminine.

Never thought about it until you said so, but these pics do remind me of Diana.

No wedding ring in sight. Enjoy your bit of freedom, Charlene, even it is ever so temporary.

There was a recent article in Paris Match were an insider/palace friend essentially promised “good news” by the end of the year. Frankly, they seem much better off without a kid. Just let Andrea take the throne …

I think her athletic body is beautiful, her shoulders especially, and I think that she is very pretty. This is most certainly the happiest she has looked in a long time. I resent people referring to her as manly. There is nothing manly about the woman and perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate what feminine actually means.

I find it interesting that people say she should enjoy her vacation away from Albert…when she’s using Albert’s money to go on this vacation in the first place.

She has not had a job in the 10 years she lived in Monaco as Albert’s GF. Every cent she spends on her holidays, her designer clothes, and her plastic surgeries come from Albert’s pockets. Her ‘freedom’ is no freedom at all.

But these can also be considered as the perks of her position. She may not be happy in her new role, but I doubt she ever turned down the benefits of being the Prince’s GF, now wife, with his name and money backing her.

Her family has a villa in France bought and paid for by Albert, as well.

That being said, she’s done well the past 2 years as Princess of Monaco.

She looks amazing and totally laid-back! I find it interesting how very different she looks whenever she’s away from Monaco and Albert is not around. You can see she’s in her element then. I once read an interview from an old friend and he mentioned how very easy-going and spunky she is in ‘real’ life so I’d say Monaco’s golden cage cramps her style, as it were? Given that she looks anything but perky and cheerful most of the time…
I’m also not buying the BS about the tears of happiness at her wedding…because her eyes and face spoke otherwise, simple as that..:/ we shouldn’t forget that it took Diana at least 10 years to get out of her marriage and come forward with that all-time famous tell all interview where she finally lifted the lid on the behind-the-scenes of her marriage and all that she had to endure down through the years. And that without anybody from the outside suspecting anything all along. So who knows? Maybe we’ll see something like that with Charlene at some point…
