Kristen Stewart gets fatigued for ‘Camp X-Ray’: convincing or sullen?

Kristen Stewart on a boat! These are new pics of K-Stew on a boat, in the LA harbor I guess. I mean, I know this is LA. All of the photos say LA. But I can’t tell you exactly which harbor or anything. Kristen was photographed yesterday on what seemed like her first day of work on her new film – the first time she’s been on a new film set in more than a year! – Camp X-Ray. This is the film where Kristen will be playing a young MP in Guantanamo who befriends an imprisoned insurgent or something.

In half the photos, Kristen is just wearing her normal clothes I guess, and it seems that they are arriving to some location in a boat. And then she changes into the fatigues and she starts giving me Shia LeBeouf vibes. That’s all I’ve really got for these photos. I doubt this film will be any good, but I think the point of this (for Kristen) is that she just needed to work. To needed to sign on to a movie, any movie, before her career was completely in the toilet. Speaking of…

Yesterday was the anniversary of Kristen’s Mini Cooper tryst with Rupert Sanders. Us Weekly published a timeline – the actual Mini Coopering happened on July 17th, but we didn’t find out about it for a few weeks when Us Weekly published the scandalous photos. What’s the gift for a one-year anniversary? Paper? Us Weekly should re-publish the whole set of photos!

White socks with shower shoes. Nice.

  2. Tessa says:

WTF is she doing? I can’t… Did she even prepare for this, or is she just going to wing it so it looks like she’s working a year after minicooper gate?

    • CTgirl says:

Yeah, this really doesn’t look like it will be any good. KS as a soldier with a mostly unknown cast. Quite the recipe for success. BTW, even playing a soldier she tries for emo – in the military the fatigues aren’t ever that baggy as excess fabric can be a hazard. The production values of this train wreck don’t seem very good so far.

      • Nina W says:

And a backwards American flag?!? If you’re making a movie about the military at least get the uniform right.

  3. just say NO to the socks and Adidas flops!! she doesn’t look bad in the fatigues..

  4. Micki says:

She looks better in fatigues than in her own clothes. Should adopt them style-wise.
So, I’ll just wait for the fatigue-rage now.

  5. Sloane Wyatt says:

Kristen needs to do well in this role and lay very low.

    • Jen says:

She is too small to be believable as an MP.

      • booboocita says:

Agreed. I have a number of female combat vets in my classes (I teach at a small comprehensive uni), and even the more slender ones have some bulk to them — not fat, just substance. The tiniest of them was a refueling specialist in Kuwait, and used to carry fuel hoses quite a distance. She’s about five feet tall and probably about 110 pounds, trim and muscled. KStew is too waifish to play a soldier convincingly.

      • bellakitty4u says:

Sorry, but i was an MP at 5 feet tall on a good day, by the time i got through basics i weighed less than 110 lbs and i did my job just fine. I had and still have expert marksmanship. You have a partner as well in most situations, if not best know what you are doing. 🙂

      • erika1985 says:

Wrong. I was an MP and smaller than her. Ku it’s not about being big and muscular. She looks like any of the women MPs in my company.

  6. aquarius64 says:

Timing is everything. Release the fatigue pics when the 1-yr anniversary stories of SWATH-gate were hitting the internet. Looks like she has regulation hair along with the camouflage, but she has to show military bearing in the movie for this to fly. The last thing she needs are comparisons to “Private Benjamin” and that Goldie Hawn was more credible as a soldier.

  7. Ramona says:

I don’t think the civilian clothes are hers. They are too new and clean looking so the socks and shower shoes look to be costume. Don’t think “America’s Sweetheart” wears socks…

  8. De-Vine says:

That set of ACUs look too big for her. Including the cap.

  9. akua says:

i laugh out loud yesterday….am feeling generous today…i hope she dos well….Bella Swan meet better act well

  10. Mia 4S says:

So apparently her co-star is Lane Garrison?! I know it’s a low budget indie but, well, I thought he was back in jail.

(For those who don’t know the story, he was on the show Prison Break, then he killed a teenager while drunk driving, went to prison for real, got out, and last I heard was arrested for battery against a girlfriend.)

    • Tessa says:

I swear this is a fake movie that Kristen is pretending to make so that it looks like she’s working a year later. Lane Garrison? I thought he was in prison. Next we’ll hear Lindsay Lohan and Mel Gibson have been cast.

    • aquarius64 says:

Her co-star is that guy? Now this makes sense. This is a second-chance movie for both of them. Stewart and Garrison had their images and reputations ruined by their own actions. Studios and major actors & actresses may be reluctant to work with them. I know about SWATH 2, but if Universal was that confident in Kristen it wouldn’t have pushed the release date to 2015. She would have been in front of the cameras for that movie.

      • Nikki says:

        +1

      • Mia 4S says:

Whoa now! I mean I don’t like her at all but let’s be careful not to equate her nonsense with vehicular manslaughter and battery! She made a foolish personal mistake, he was criminal.

However there is something to your point. There are numerous 30-something male actors/stars who will take a paycut for a good indie movie. I’m not sure what to think about a project where this is the guy they hired/could get.

      • Algernon says:

SWATH 2 was bumped for two reasons, neither K-Stew related. A: They don’t have a script. B: Chris Hemsworth’s schedule is nuts. Won’t be surprised at all if SWATH 2 ends up moved even further back to 2016.

She’s been sitting on her duff for a year. Not like she couldn’t have hopped to the second Universal said “go”. I know the tendency is to blame everything on her, but the world doesn’t revolve around Kristen Stewart.

Bonus: It’s kind of hilarious how many people think what she did was a big deal to movie people. It wasn’t, at all. No one gave a sh*t. There was some laughter directed her way for the piss-poor PR management after the pictures came out, but the act itself? Please. There is no moral high ground in Hollywood.

      • Meaghan says:

@Algernon – TOTALLY agree, I still can’t believe everyone made it out to be such a huge thing, when we all know most of Hollywood have side pieces and what not.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

        @Algernon

I agree. I think that before the mini-coopering happened, producers didn’t really *like her, but because she was popular and well known they hired her, hoping to get the press/twihards hoping that Rob and her would make out on the red carpet or something, into their movie.

I think all the “scandal” really did was give producers an even bigger reason not to hire her. It wasn’t like she was this amazing actress, and thus would put up with her shady/rude/unprofessional remarks in interviews and behavior during red carpets a la Sean Penn….she’s a mediocre actress who got lucky. That’s it.

I remember that my mom was mad that she was the one getting all the blame for the affair, and not Sanders. All I told her was that she was getting it bad because she was more famous, and because she has a snotty attitude.

      • Nina W says:

KStew’s career is in trouble because of mini-cooper-gate. HW doesn’t take the moral high ground, they don’t care who she mini-coopers but her fans do. And how her fans feel about her directly effects her box office draw and ability to sell tickets. She needs to make a good movie or two or her career will continue in it’s downward spiral.

    • Annie says:

Wow… Could her co-stars be anymore D-listed? I mean, Lane Garrison? She’s on a dangerous path to lifetime movies now.
I would’ve preferred to stay unemployed.

  11. Ali says:

    Looks good.

  12. Dawn says:

I think she is a one trick pony. She looks the same in every single thing she does. I am so not a fan.

    • Reason police says:

If you’re so not a fan then what you doing here? Just to express that you’re not fan? Sorry, but unless you have something valid to say. You know something that isn’t “she looks the same in everything” cliché then you wasted your time.

  13. Nikki says:

What an insult to the real men and women who defend the country and proudly wear the uniform. Her none existent talent will be about right for a movie with a felon. Who put their money into this sham!!!

    • NeNe says:

      +1. I couldn’t agree more!!

    • Another Ann says:

Curious as to why it’s an insult. Movies with a military theme are a dime a dozen. Is every one of them an insult, or just this one because you don’t like the actress involved?

      • Nikki says:

I find all badly acted/portrayed movies (military inspired or not)offensive, especially since my husband wore that uniform. She is a talentless hack (along with many others in Hollywood obviously), personal behaviour I couldn’t care less about but on screen is what counts and she has nothing to offer.

    • SMR says:

There is no movie yet and it is already an insult? It’s amazing that people trash everything about someone they don’t like and don’t care if what they are saying has any credibility.

      • Narak says:

She was excellent in On The Road. She was totally believable as Joan Jet in The Runaways. Give the girl a break.

    • Shannon says:

Sorry but I just can’t see this as an “insult” to the military or its reputation, it’s ruining that well enough on its own with this crazy ongoing rape problem. I cannot see our armed forces as distinguished or honorable until this is fixed. There is nothing prestigious about an organization that systematically protects and promotes rapists. It probably won’t surprise anyone that I left the Catholic church and haven’t looked back for the same reason.

    • geekychick says:

This, I just don’t get. I mean, Russians should boycott your movie industry, then, the way they are usually portrayed.
      Isn’t your army professional?
In my country, heroes and honored are the ones who went from being people with normal jobs to people with rifles in their arms overnight, voluntarily, to defend the ground their homes were built on for centuries. Professional soldier is considered a job as any other. Same in the most European countries I know about.

  14. Rabia says:

I ship LaneStew. What a great match.

  15. Deb says:

    Hahahaha no

  16. pammibehave says:

shouldn’t she have “buffed” up a little bit for this role?

    • Annie says:

That would’ve required effort and effort is fake. If you want to be real you show up as yourself, not with your little tools of acting and preparedness. That’s for punk ass bitches.

    • UsedToBeLulu says:

Way to soft looking to play a service woman IMO.

  17. GUEST says:

The military group that prepped her for the role released a statement stating how incredible she was in preparing for the role etc.

  18. Leanne says:

So many male co-stars and a first time director. Oh the possibilities for her next on set love affair.

  19. Tig says:

@ Algernon- never got the impression that most posters here believed studios got cold feet on KS due to her behavior with RS- rather, it was the total stupidity she showed making out in broad daylight, etc and jeopardizing a huge franchise, coupled with the most inept PR scramble in recent memory. If you can’t be counted on to protect the “money”- that’s a deal-breaker. You are right, good behavior means nothing- look at the cast of this movie!

    • Anname says:

+1 Tig, the studio cares about Kristen Stewart’s scandal if it affects their bottom line, not the morals of the thing.
I don’t think they are in a hurry to make the second one because although it had decent returns, it by no means a runaway success, and it seems Hemsworth isn’t making it a priority either.

      • Tig says:

OT- do you plan on seeing Rush? That’s CH’s movie about James Hunt coming out in Sept- the trailers I’ve seen of that look great.

      • Anname says:

I haven’t seen the trailer, but I will check it out!

    • aquarius64 says:

That was the point I was going towards. If she did her dirt in the privacy of a hotel (with staff that can keep its mouth shut) this would not have been an issue. There was a danger that BD2’s box office was going to take a massive hit because of her foolishness. Twi-hards were having a meltdown over this. Rob had to take her back to staunch the PR bleeding. Now she has to prove she won’t bring a scandal to the workplace.

      • PunkyMomma says:

^Right on spot. Forget the family that was destroyed, forget the relationship with Rob, but jeopardizing BDII box office was the real sin she committed to the Hollywood mindset.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I think it’s the same thing at any job. Do your bosses really think that you can be promoted or be trusted with anything important if your PERSONAL drama is always being played out at the office?

Just think if Kristen and Rupert were in an office setting, and they got caught having sex at the company picnic in front of the Ceo…do you really think that SOMEONE wouldn’t get fired or reprimanded by way of demotion or pay cut? Just because it’s Hollywood doesn’t mean you don’t have to take it seriously.

I think that a lot of up and comers in Hollywood forget that they want success, not popularity. Most of the world’s most talented actors and actresses aren’t in the tabloids, because they focus on their WORK, not playing games with the paparazzi-“accidentally” getting caught at the grocery store and so on.

  20. Amber says:

I thought I liked Kristen Stewart somewhat until I saw her in ACU’s. I know this is just for a movie, but it offends me to see her in them. Go away. And they’re too big for her.

  21. Mew says:

No. Just no. No, no, no. Absolutely no.

  22. Annabelle says:

This movie sounds and looks god-awful.

  23. Side-Eye says:

I’m just still confused as to how she gets roles when she can’t act? At all? Not even a little bit?

    • NeNe says:

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Something that makes you go hmmmmmm???

    • Another Ann says:

Seriously? Do you think all the actors and actresses in Hollywood are master thespians? There may be as many untalented to mediocre actors making it as there are truly talented ones.

Sometimes they just have the look or persona that is needed. Or they have a damn good agent. Or have a “name” that can be used to finance/promote the film.

      • Side-Eye says:

No, but I think they should at least be able to do more than fidget and twitch on screen. If they can’t act, *period*, I don’t want them on the screen. And Dwayne Johnson is at the most a decent actor, that has more charm and personality than she does, as does Emma Watson and I have not run into one person that has said Stewart has any of that.

tl;dr You don’t have to be a master thespian, but I’d sure as fuck like them to do better than blank stares and lip biting, and it’d be one thing if she just did the occasional B-film like Tara Reid or somebody, but she was at one point one of the highest paid actresses wasn’t she?

WHAT THE HELL KIND OF DARK SORCERY IS GOING ON IN THE STUDIO?

*breathes* I’m sorry I went off like that, but I just can’t.

      • geekychick says:

I can name at least 10 different actors/actress, right off the bat, who suck in acting: Aniston, Alba, Sparkles, H. Berry, Katie Holmes, that Amber-Johnny Depp girl, Channing Tatum……
There are so many of them who aren’t Oscar worthy, but no outrage over them. Bar Twilight, I actually liked her acting in Runaways and On the Road.

  24. Mandy says:

Is she seriously wearing addidas sandals with socks???

  25. Dana says:

In the first photo, her hair looks like that of the mysterious girl in Rob’s truck. Hahaha!

    • guest says:

Ahhh, no it doesn’t. Kristen hair is no where near as red as the chick in the truck, no matter how hard the r/k shippers want it to be. LOL

      • Dana says:

I don’t care at all if they are together or not. I guess, they are both single now. Not everybody who makes an observtion like that is a “KR shipper”. Life is not that simple.

  26. HalfricanQueen says:

When she tries to smile, it twists her face into this weird grimace. Life must really be rough

  27. ORLY says:

    HAHAHAHA!
Oh dear. What a silly idea. This movie will be crap.

  28. mimi says:

Actually she did train for this film. She did target practice at an LA gun range and the military group who she trained with had very nice things to say about her:

“We are all so proud of Kristen Stewart and her dedication in training for her new role in CAMP XRAY. She is one of the hardest working actors we have ever trained, PERIOD. Her level of respect, admiration, and honor bestowed upon our nation’s military is truly mind blowing, and the transformation we saw in her within only a few days was nothing short of awe inspiring. Her fans will be in for a rare treat when CAMP XRAY hits theaters!!! From all of us here at TMG, we salute you Kristen and will always be here for you!!”

I’ve never heard anybody complain about her not being prepared on the set or not taking her roles seriously. Director Bill Condon from Breaking Dawn 1 and 2 said he was very impressed by her knowledge of the material and welcomed her input and ideas/opinions during filming. Some of you may not appreciate her seriousness when it comes to her profession but many people she has worked with in various capacities have praised her for it.

As for her new film Camp X-Ray, I’ll reserve judgement for now and wait until I actually see the finished product.

    • Marigold says:

Her knowledge of Breaking Dawn material? Really? Yeah, I bet she spent a good long while studying the 10 phrases Stephenie Meyer used over and over and over again. I’m sure she kept a checklist of every lip bite and awkward fidget she was meant to display. As for the military group, I bet even they know how to be polite and exaggerate.

      • mimi says:

The late and great James Gandolfini was very impressed with Kristen when the two worked together on Welcome to the Rileys. He wrote a very flattering essay about her when On the Road was released. Was he being polite and exaggerating as well?

    • Amber says:

I’m sure she did blow some minds. I’m sure she blows a lot. And of course the military group has only good things to say, maybe they’ll get some money from her. They need it in these times. She blows in general. Next.

  29. Lily says:

I want to fast forward to the part when either her or Rob start dating someone new and their shippers start having meltdowns again. I think they’re still too hopeful they’ll work it out.

    • Original A says:

Me too. I want RPattz to start dating again and KStew will be in Europe next month for her new film so she’ll disappear for a while. I’m finding everyone from the shippers to the over-invested fans of both with their over-the-top hate or love annoying. I just can’t with some of the posts on here like that comparison between cheating and death. Too far.

      • Lily says:

Yeah, they really got screwed in the fans department, most of them are complete nutjobs. I have to say that if there’s one thing that also makes me dislike KStew, that’s her fanbase. Almost all of them are hypocrites just like her.

      • guest says:

Not all of Rob’s and Kristen’s fan are whack jobs. There are those that are sensible and genuinely follow the careers of one or both.
I do find that some of her fans tend to be a bit more delusional and it is really scary.
While there are some WAY over the top Rob fans they are not creating outlandish over the top stories about 2 people who’s relationship has run it’s course and they now gone their separate ways.

      • Lark says:

        @guest
No, I get what you mean. I somewhat like both, although I’ll call them out on occasion. There are reasonable people, but most don’t even both with coming on these threads anymore because the extreme ones always are the loudest. IA that many of his stans (not really fans, but stans) are over the line with the nastiness, and that many of her stans are extremely delusional. The “robsten” people don’t strike me as fans of either, and more like over-invested twi-hards who are only into them because of their former relationship. I find the whole thing somewhat ironic, as both seem to have moved on and there was little drama (unless you count Hollywood Life aka fanfiction.net) but the extreme stans and Robsten people haven’t quite gotten over it. At this point, I honestly feel bad for them because of the craziness of some of their stans.

  30. Original A says:

Actually, the other lead is Peyman Moaddi from “A Separation.”. I still think this movie sounds like crap and I like Kristen, but SMH at the people comparing cheating to vehicular manslaughter of one of the supporting actors. Reminds me why I have been avoiding KStew posts lately. Anyway, the other film Sils Maria sounds eons better.

    • aquarius64 says:

I think it’s meant that they both did awful things in different degrees. The common denominator is their reputations suffered and their professional lives took a hit from them too.

      • Lark says:

Chiming in here. It’s a poor comparison and there is a vast difference in the degree. Yes, she cheated and did a horrible thing. Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan also got photographed heavily making out on the side of a road, and there are many other celebrities that I could list. It damages all of their reputations, and it damaged her reputation especially because her public persona is so closely entangled with the Twilight franchise. However, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen people try to equate cheating with something inappropriate on here. I’ve seen posters argue that a comparison to Chris Brown is appropriate, or even “ship” her with Chris Brown as a joke.

Look, like I said below there are people who honestly find her obnoxious, irritating, and whatever else you can list. There are also a lot of hardcore sparkle stans (not all of them, but some of them) who tend to cross the line. One of them was arguing with me once that “shipping” her with Chris Brown was somehow funny, and I was the only one on the thread that called her out for it as far as I remember. There are also plenty of posters who have noticed that the nastiness reaches a new level when it comes to this girl, and this is one of the few blogs that is still fixated on last year.

Anyway, KStew seems to be somewhat back on track. I didn’t know that Peyman Moaddi was in this film, which gives it some redeeming value. She’s moving from a C indie movie to a supporting role in an much better film, and at least she’s working and trying to stay under the radar. It’s just my opinion that everyone deserves a second chance, especially considering it’s been a year, and she hasn’t been cheating, beating on someone, or getting DUI’s…time to move on imo.

  31. aquarius64 says:

@Virgilia Coriolanus – to your point about the workplace, what galled me was Kristen’s unwillingness to get in front of the mess she created. She had her PR team put out the apology, convinced Rob to take her back; and had family, friends, and colleagues go on the record to defend her and give testimonials to her. Other Twilight co-stars had to play the “no comment” card. If Kristen is such a strong, independent woman like her fans crow about, why didn’t do a sit-down with Oprah or Barbara Walters to deal with it directly; if anything to take the heat off the people around her? I didn’t appreciate her PR team issuing gag orders to the press during BD2 promos so the scandal doesn’t come up. Frankly I think that’s what opened Rob and her up to be mauled by the paps at LAX last year regarding the Mini-Coopering. (One pap was heard on tape cackling “at least we had the guts to ‘ask’ the question.) The fiasco was handled badly from the gitgo and that’s why Kristen is where she is now.

Maybe Kristen should take notes from her pal Taylor Lautner. I know a lot of people, including me, thinks his acting skills are lacking, but I think he took away some things from SWATH-gate. A couple of months ago he was out with a C-list actress named Maika Monroe and the press was going on about his romance (take it as you will). Now he’s been spotted several times squiring his new leading lady Marie can’t get her name around NYC, going to plays and the like. (Yeah, again?) At the Grown Up 2 premiere he was asked by a reporter who was he dating; he answered nobody seriously at the moment. By answering the question himself and directly he took the oxygen out of cheating innuendoes that were starting to fly at the time. Now no one mentions Maika with Taylor anymore and they are talking about him and Marie. The point is, there are cleaner ways to cut off potential bad press; and Kristen, IMO, needs to clean house and get a new PR team.

    • Luisa says:

I agree with Aquarius64 she definitely needs a new pr rep.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I like Taylor Lautner, although I do think he is a horrible actor. I could tell from the “Abduction” trailer…awful stuff. I’m glad that he could look and learn….I definitely have had the opportunity to learn A LOT from all my older cousins’ mistakes. Time will tell if I did learn them, but let’s just say I WILL BE cautious about certain things.

I hope I don’t come off as a Kristen basher…I try not to sound like one. I’ve never really liked her since she has a bad/poseur attitude and is a horrible actor, but I do hope that she puts her big girl panties on and starts being professional during the events/promotions that she doesn’t enjoy doing.

    • SMR says:

Kristen didn’t owe anyone an explanation except to Rob. Also, I can imagine what his reaction would have been if she had gone to Oprah to discuss their private lives. The fact is that her apology was the public acknowledgement of their relationship. Many comments from media and movie people said, that it would have been much better for her, if she had not done it and had left the media and the fans speculate if they really dated and if they did date, whose fault it was. By making this apology she owned her transgression and saved Rob the speculations.

  32. Lexi says:

Sullen, she looks soo sullen all the time

  33. Relli says:

This is the best and most comfortable I have ever seen her look!

  34. NEENAZEE says:

I totally buy her as an Army NCO… I grew up around the military and it attracts girls like her.

  35. Tig says:

@ Mimi- maybe one of the things that made James G great was a kind and generous spirit, hence his article. I saw WTTR as well as Adventureland- the only difference as to how she played her character was runny mascara in WTTR. To be fair, thought WTTR was a waste of both James G’sand Melissa Leo’s talents. I did think she did a better job in Adventureland.

    • mimi says:

How about James Gandolfini sang Kristen’s praises because that is exactly how he felt about her and the military group recently complimented her because they actually were impressed with her dedication and hard work.

Let’s not forget the highly respected Roger Ebert who adored Kristen and thought she was a talented, young actress who picked interesting roles. Was he being polite, kind, generous and exaggerating, too?

It’s ok not to agree with highly respected individuals who have bestowed praise and admiration for Kristen. But please don’t claim they aren’t being sincere or truthful just because your feelings towards her differ from theirs.

      • Lark says:

        @Mimi
People get fairly unreasonable on here when it comes to KStew to the point that a lot of commenters don’t even bother on this thread regardless of their attitude towards her…lots of hardcore Sparkle Stans and only a handful of regular commenters. Personally, I always thought KStew did well in indies but faded in big studio movies. She should go back to indies, imo. She’d probably be happiest in that situation too. BTW, I believe James Gandolfini was sincere too.

That’s HW Mimi, they spend a lot of time blowing smoke up each other’s asses. I’m sure some of it is sincere but you hear it a lot about all sorts of up and comers not just KStew. If she develops some acting range she’ll do well, if she stagnates as a lip-biter her career will tank.

“To needed to sign on to a movie, any movie, before her career was completely in the toilet.” Yeah her career is completely in the toilet. She scheduled to three movies yet her career is almost non-existent. Sorry, it’s my fault for confusing this as journalism.
