The Lone Ranger saga is not over yet! Here are some photos from the UK premiere of the film where Gore Verbinski and Disney are hoping against hope to recoup some of this movie’s losses. Kaiser and I have both discussed how terribly this film has performed in North America, but the disaster could be somewhat mitigated by a decent international take. As I’ve said before though and even though Johnny Depp’s films usually do great on a global scale, I don’t see Johnny’s fans turning out for this overwrought piece of Americana. I haven’t seen the movie (and don’t plan to do so, but my brother likes everything and walked out after 10 minutes), but here’s the main problem — a $250 million budget before publicity. That’s gotta hurt.
At any rate, Johnny and Armie Hammer are still promoting this cinematic tofurky, and Johnny definitely looks like the movie star that he is at this premiere. Look at that stage presence and total lack of scarves. Johnny cleans up so well.
Compared to Johnny, Armie looks like a total amateur in this red suit. Why so bright, Armie? This suit is pretty awful, and I can’t make any excuses for it at all. And a brown tie? Yuck.
In sharp contrast to her husband, Elizabeth Chambers looked absolutely fantastic. I covet this dress and her hair too.
After the premiere, Johnny took Amber Heard out to dinner at Cipriani. I don’t think these two are going to last at all, but Amber sure is breathtakingly pretty in this red dress. See, this is what red should look like.

It’s the total package, Tony. If a guy is ugly and has a great personality, he’ll get a lot of tail (see: 75% of my male friends). If the guy is hot and a big ol’ douchebag then he’ll likely still pull a lot of tail, but it won’t be quality women.
The average woman (like myself) can easily fall for a guy who is mediocre in appearance if he’s funny, interesting, charming and sweet (see: the last guy I fell hard for).

Johnny looks really good here. I feel like he had purchased a few good suits outside that one he seems to wear a lot. Johnny said he is near blind in one of his eyes. The glasses are prescription lenses. So he wears them all the time. Sad about his eyesight. I don’t know if he explained what caused the blindness.
And I actually love that red suit. I hate the brown tie but Armie looks great in that suit. It is a wonderful fit. I wish Armie’s on screen personality was like his dress sense here.
Armie’s suit is a bit garish but gawd, he is a tall drink of water. Johnny looks well, a bit dumpy in comparison – he’s too short to be wearing a waist coat next to a tall dude. I feel traitorous but Johnny doesn’t make me tingle anymore with his dead eyed girlfriend and midlife crisis. Sigh. I don’t think this can be fixed.

Actually Lone Ranger isn’t doing that well internationally. Westerns usually don’t. I just find it funny that people were bashing WWZ for a year but nobody talked about LR. It had a lot more signs that it was going to be a bomb. But even after it failed, the media dismissed it as a write-off.
Exactly! People were seeming to hope WWZ would bomb. Vanity Fair wrote that pointless article, but Lone Ranger’s budget was bigger and not a peep.
I think WWZ got the added negative spin because Brad was also the producer and I think some wanted him to fail. Glad WWZ is still doing well and not that far from $500 million WW.
I read on another site that it was Disney’s people who started the “WWZ has been in production for eleventy billion years/dollar and is totally going to bomb” rumors specifically to distract people from the bomb that is Lone Ranger. After their respective showings, I believe it.
I haven’t seen either (not my style of movie, personally, but I’ll probably end up seeing WWZ from Netflix with the DH someday), but you can’t argue with the numbers. WWZ has performed really well. LR has totally bombed.

He is not that big star as Brad Pitt or even Tom Cruise overseas. People went to see Pirats and Alice just because. It wasnât specially because of Depp was in them.
3 weeks after release Lone Ranger made only $66 millions overseas. It will now get some 300-400 millions out there to save face for Disney.
People and media were bushing World War Z for months, hoping it will bomb. Yet no one really cared that Lone Ranger and RIPD bombed so hard. Thee were kind of: “Yeah, whatever”.
johnny is actually a much bigger star than brad and tom overseas and the movie hasn’t even open in many international markets. the potc were a success because of him and no one can deny that because without his jack sparrow no one would watch it and there wouldn’ be a franchise in the first place and alice and charlie were smash hits because of his chracters and big name
You Brangelina loons should get some perspective. Depp is a bigger international star than Pitt and his Jack Saprrow is the reason for the success of those POTC movies. His name is a brand in itself and sells, people see it irrespective of reviews. I’m not from U.S , so I should know. Tom Cruise is not what he used to be but is a way bigger star than Pitt has ever been and now it’s Depp who commands similar star power.
People were expecting WWZ to be a more intimate, Oscar-type movie considering it’s from Pitt but he turned it into a tentpole franchise kind of movie to have Johnny Depp kind of box-office power. Hence was the disappointment.
I love the color red, not sure about on Mr. Hammer, but it fits well. Depp does look better dressed in a suit, even though he looks a bit frumpy, but it goes downhill when he smiles. He has serious smokers teeth and they are not attractive.
Can we talk about Amber Heard’s bra situation in those last two photos? As in, why the hell isn’t she wearing one? It ruins the whole outfit.

what’s with the prudish stuff about Amber’s lack of bra? she looks great. If she had huge bazooms it would be different, but this is very nice, and you can see why Johnny goes for her. I don’t think Depp’s look is new. I remember seeing it during the POTC promotions. Yeah waistcoats are not for his built but somehow looks alright on him. Johnny Depp all the way. He’s a beautiful man, style, gait and attitude. A movie star. I like Armie as well and hopefully he becomes a full-fledeged movie star soon. Can’t help but wonder if he’s following Depp’s persona of creating his own signature look just to stand out in the crowd. I liked Amber better when she was dirty blond. She seems to be changing her hair colour a lot.
The movie isn’t going to be helped a lot by the international markets, I figured it out from Depp’s reaction itself. He’d always pretty cool about the performance of his movies unless it’s a severe under-performance of a passion project like this. Depp knows that this film is a disaster and it shows in his words.
To be honest he has been working on too many of those over-long hectic scheduled movies. It’s true some of them- like ‘The rum diary, ‘the Dark Shadows’ and even ‘the Loone Ranger’- were over-due project that seemed to have caught up with him all at once but a lot of them- the Pirate sequels, Alice, The Tourist, Rango were deliberate immediate commitments.
Vanessa’s increased workload is nothing compared to his. Yes relationship is all about compromises but it’s unfair to ask Vanessa to hold back her career completely while he keeps working. He could have slowed down a bit but he didn’t either because of money or he’s a workaholic wary of a bad relationship.Maybe the split would help them to concentrate better on being good parents.

Yeah he keeps doing those Pirate movies as a safety-net. So what? I don’t see him endorsing any brands like a lot of his peers, so this helps him stay relevant to be able to do what he wants to do.

Not really. He did good movies and made interesting choices once of upon a time: He is incredibly predictable and boring nowadays. Facepaint, disney movies and tim burton movies. Yawn. When was the last time johnny threw his weight behind an interesting or a talented young film maker in the way that say brad pitt or george clooney does? He´s become very set in his ways.
Well how do we know that Johnny was actually cheating on Vanessa with Amber? We don’t. Those were tabloid rumors, that came after he and Vanessa announced that they were splitting up. If I remember right, Amber was with her girlfriend at the time, working-one of her costars on the set gave an interview praising the fact that she wouldn’t go out with the cast for some drinks because she was in a relationship.
She and Johnny weren’t seen together until earlier this year, Amber hasn’t talked about it (she could), neither has Johnny. I mean rag on Johnny about those stupid comments that Vanessa was getting boring (didn’t we figure that it was his publicist that was putting that out) or something like that.

Johnny Depp looks pretty good. Our whole family had great fun at the movies. I don’t agree with critics who said that Armie Hammer wasn’t a good lead, his and Depp’s chemistry was good.
However I guess Disney-fied American western-lore is a matter of selective taste although I do believe that the critics had caused way too much damage even before the movie hit the theatres.

From what I’ve seen of Amber Heard her body shape seems to be fluctuating. She seems to be a curvy & ‘quite’ healthy looking girl by nature and toning it up for movies. As shapely as her body seems to be she tends to put on meat in unflattering areas. So the ‘weird lump’ maynot be anything more than just that.
However I won’t be surprised. Afterall Vanessa got pregnant right after three months of dating and turned a rebound fling into a long-term relationship. These two have been going on for almost two years. Depp’s always been a serial dater and post-Vanessa ‘fatherhood’ keeps him in love I guess. Amber would’ve got her cues from Vanessa by now.
Depp’s cool. Hollywood relationships are difficult to maintain especially when both of them are constantly working on different continents. “Hot temper” and “he’s always right”–the first is pretty straightforward, the second, who knows how she means it. All in all, not so very damning, but interesting. Thanks for pointing it out.
I guess that point could mean two things, both about their respective egos.Whether Depp always thinks he’s right or Vanessa always ‘feels’ he’s right, thus hurting her own ego, it can lead to severe arguments especially when the couple belongs to diffrent cultures. This might provide some insight into the break-up I believe.
Vanessa has said there was something wrong in their relationship right from the beginning. This point might make some sense in that respect. The point that got me interested was the one where she describes him as ‘childlike’.
Vanessa has also said that both of them ‘tamed’ each other. She has always come across a pretty strong-headed woman for me. For all we know she might be different from the ‘calm and focused’ image she projects in her interviews. Many non-French people maynot realize that she used to be a wild-child herself.
Eversince they said to have moved to L.A for kids’ school, Vanessa has been working more than the usual- movies, modelling, concerts etc. No one seems to have noticed that in the course of laying the entire blame on Depp. I guess she just wanted to focus more on her career and not willing to remain in L.A just for the sake of being with him any longer. She has clearly said in a recent interview that her heart and base remains in France. The relationship went on well as long as Johnny made his home at her place, even if it means too much travel, but she unfortunately could’t do the same. Movies are delayed process and so Johnny was caught up in too many commitments at once to adjust. So they probably decided just to remain as parents instead of comprimising their careers in order to work at the relationship. Sadly, it’s the kids who suffer the most from all of this.
Johnny Depp looks great. It still hurts me to see him with Amber Heard but after spending so many years with a great woman like Vanessa Paradis I still have some belief left in his choices. And still by all accounts he’s an incredible man.
Amber Heard is way younger, not much of a talent and her only claim to fame is being Depp’s girlfriend but for all we know, she might be a classy person herself. Afterall fame and talent maynot be the best indicators of a person’s goodness.
Armie’s such a sweetheart that I don’t mind the suit. And I don’t know why nobody’s mentioning it but I thought he was super-hot in the movie. He reminds me of an old-school movie star.

Johnny Depp has been looking fantastic. I can’t believe I’m feeling it for a 50-yr old but Depp is always something to look at. Still too weird to see him with a young Amber Heard but Depp has always marched to his own drums. Only time can show us the fate of this relationship. Ofcourse it won’t last, Amber is too young but who knows what Depp himself would come up with. He’s still a cool and generous celebrity and hopefully his kids are coping as best as they can though they’ve already been hit with the worst I’m afraid.
Movie was okay. Atleast the humour wasn’t over-the-top like POTC. It was actually well-acted. However I’ll just have wait for Depp’s next movie to hopefully start enjoying him again.

Anyway, I watched the movie several times and I loved it. Fun movie, but it’s also the kind of movie you have to have a sense of humor to enjoy.
Also helps if you don’t have a steel rod up your spine, which is probably why most critics and this lovely writer’s brother (who apparently likes EVERYTHING) walked out after ten minutes.
As far as who is better looking….that’s not why I watched the movie. I am hoping it rakes up a lot of money overseas and it gets at least one sequel. Just to make people mad that didn’t have the ability to enjoy it.
Most fun movie I’ve watched in YEARS. Got better with each viewing.
Quit smoking, Johnny, or start bleaching your teeth! That mug in the last photo is a little unappealing.
(I kind of like Armie’s suit. To me it seems to indicate that he has a personality. I can’t imagine a boring, vanilla guy wearing that.)
Arnie is super cute and that red suit is so over-the-top it rocks. Johnny, sorry to say, looks like a lounge lizard with that open shirt and chains–ultra tacky. His babe with the dead eyes and tacky reptile heels fits him to tee. When Johnny was with Vanessa they had class and a quirky irreverence I actually admired.
The open shirt and the chains were happening even when he was with Vanessa and even before that. Infact it was after getting together with Vanessa and going all Europhile that his dressing sense became contrived – scarves, hats, weird suits etc. Maybe you didn’t mind it then just because he was with Vanessa but now evrything is wrong. Just saying
johnny always dressed like that and he dressed much worse when he was with vanessa so i don’t really know whats diffrenet now
Depp’s face is a piece of art even at 50. I would love to look at it up close. Armie’s tie is wrong, otherwise he’s cute. And Amber’s eyes remind me of Lauren Bacall.
