Lea Michele thanks her fans for their support after Cory Monteith’s death

When you lose someone close to you, or otherwise when something horrible happens, it’s like your life is divided into the before and after of your loss. You look back with nostalgia at the time before that awful thing happened, at how innocent and naive you were, and realize that you had no idea how it was all about to change. That’s how I imagine Lea Michele must be feeling after losing her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, a little over two weeks ago. For Lea, this will be the summer when everything changed.

According to her friends and co-workers, Lea has been doing her best to stay strong after Cory’s passing. She’s said to have been instrumental in deciding how their show, Glee, will handle her boyfriend’s death. She also helped plan Cory’s memorial, which took place late last week at Paramount.

So it’s reassuring to see that Lea has tweeted a brief message to her fans, her first since Cory passed. She also included a nice photo of the two of them on the beach. It looks recent and I would guess that it was taken just this summer.

A few days ago it came out that Cory was planning a surprise party for Lea’s 27th birthday this August. They were also planning on moving in together when he got back from Vancouver.

Take care, Lea, and take care everyone who is going through a rough time. People care.

They seemed genuinely happy together. Poor kids.

    This is so heartbreaking.

This is just an awful situation. For her, for his family. It’s Heath Ledger/Michelle Williams all over again. I just hope she can move on with her life. When you’re with someone for that long, when you’ve loved them for that long-I can’t imagine that it all just goes away, even if you were broken up. I imagine you think about that person you lost every single day for the rest of your life-happy or not.

    • Only they were still together!!! If Michelle and Keith has not had a baby she would not be such a big part of his tragedy. Though, don’t get me wrong, I am sad for her as well, my heart breaks for Lea!

    • Liv says:

I agree, it must be heartbreaking for her. I feel so sorry and hope she’s surrounded by friends and family. Such a tragedy.

To me, the situation sounds more like River Phoenix/ Martha Plimpton. (Still miss River)

      • Norman Bates' Mother says:

But River and Martha broke up long before he died. She said she couldn’t handle his drug use. He was in a relationship with Samantha Mathis when he died – she was with him in the club when he overdosed, she carried him out of the club (together with Joaquin and their sister) to wait for the ambulance and she witnessed his death, so it’s more like them but at least Lea will be able to remember Cory when he was alive and smiling like in the picture above while Samantha is most likely still haunted by the image of River dying on the sidewalk.

Truly sad and heartbreaking. It’s a beautiful photo of them. I wish her all the best and that she’s surrounded herself with love and family. My heart goes out to her.

  5. Faye says:

I thought this was a very nice, dignified way for Lea to acknowledge fans’ support without oversharing. I hope she is getting lots of support and is doing as well as can be expected.

  6. Little Darling says:

Poor thing. Breaks my heart at the way life moves sometimes. I bet there was no doubt in her mind that she would spend the rest of her life with him.

Beautiful strength on her end to acknowledge the fans when I’m sure it still feels way too soon.

  7. Yelly says:

Aww, I feel horrible for her. They made such a good couple.

  8. janie says:

This was such a tragedy.. A glaring reminder how fragile life is and how quickly it can end. I wish her some peace in this terrible time.

  9. Chrissie says:

This breaks my heart. They looked so genuinely happy and in love. They both seemed to light up in each other’s presence.

  10. Lisa says:

I had mostly stopped following this story because it got too sad for me, so I am very glad to hear she was instrumental in determining how to handle Finn’s departure. I wish her and Cory’s family (who must be so devastated … imagine losing a son) all the love in the world.

  11. Apsutter says:

This whole thing is just so sad…that pic is like a gut punch and brought tears to my eyes.

  12. Happy21 says:

When I saw that yesterday it was instant tears…

I can’t imagine her heartbreak. To be young and so in love and then BAM your whole world changes. I’m glad she is staying strong but at the same time I hope she is taking the time to grieve.

I know she will never see this and I don’t follow her on Twitter but I hope that she knows that we are all wishing her the best and giving her virtual hugs 🙂

  13. Kas says:

Wow I feel so sad looking at that picture – they just seemed so good together…. Wishing Lea the very best

  14. Alyce says:

  15. Abby says:

Sad sad sad. I feel so bad for her and his family. I hope she’s able to heal. I cannot imagine. Absolutely can’t picture how I’d handle being in her shoes. Breaks my heart.

  16. Maria says:

I hope his family and her are receiving all the support they need from the people around them, it’s heartbreaking, because they seemed genuinely in love and happy in each others’ company. Not to mention all involved appeared committed to helping him through and out of his addictions, though sadly it didn’t turn out that way.

All the best to everyone affected, stay strong guys, he seemed like a really decent guy.
