These photos are a welcome sight — Miley Cyrus is doing something normal that doesn’t scream, “Look at me!” Miley is walking one of her dogs, Happy, who just happens to be the one that she rescued from outside a Walmart when it was “starving and scared,” and (as strange as it sounds) I’ve really missed Miley being herself. Remember when we all used to get irritated about her constant Twitpics of dogs? Now that seems like a luxury in comparison to the “We Can’t Stop” era.
Some of you will probably think that Miley was still begging for attention by getting papped, but I don’t think she was looking to be snapped without makeup and without her grills. She was just walking one of her dogs, you know? Miley has also given a interview (remember, she’s on a media blitz thanks to the wily ways of Larry Rudolph) to the HuffPo’s UK extension, and she actually doesn’t sound like a douche. Well, not a total one who is talking about how singing about drugs is proof of being a grown up because she worked so hard to build an empire by age 11. Instead, she’s talking about her new BFF, Britney Spears:
It’s tough making the transition from family-friendly youngster to an adult in the public eye, something Miley Cyrus – who has been blasted for her latest raunchy video – knows all too well. So who does she call up when she needs some advice and understanding? Britney Spears, of course.
The former Hannah Montana star told The Huffington Post UK her close friend Britney is the “one person in [her] life who gets it”.
The “it” she is referring to (we imagine) is the constant paparazzi intrusion and headlines regarding her personal life, on everything ranging from her new image, to drug use and alleged relationship crises.
Asked whether she thinks she and Britney have shared a similar journey, Miley said: “Everyone goes through a time in their life where they don’t want their picture taken everyday. She just never had that time where she could say ‘I’m going through something right now and need to shut down’.
“I also don’t have that, so it’s good to have that one person in my life who gets it.”
Asked whether Britney has been a role model to her, 20-year-old Miley revealed: “I just think it’s never blaming you or making you feel like ‘you’ve got all this going for you,’ it’s like she knows. Sometimes life just steps in the middle of your career the way life always does for anyone – it’s just ours is a little more 24/7.”

This seems sweet, right? I mean, Britney and Miley are both former child stars from the Disney fun-factory of doom, and I bet they could have conversations about their similar experiences. And I would be willing to be that Miley’s “going through something right now” has to do with the Liam Hemsworth mess as well as her parents’ constant habit of filing divorce papers and retracting them. It’s good if Miley has “that one person” whose experience mirrors her own in some ways, and I wouldn’t doubt that Miley could find comfort in Britney’s words. All the same, I remain slightly skeptical that Britney’s handlers even let her freely (and I mean without a chaperone) talk to Miley, who is clearly into the party scene, drugs, etc. Is this another Larry Rudolph scheme?
In other Miley news, she supposedly is the only person who found Nick Jonas’ hilarious shirtless selfie (complete with a million Instagram filters) to be “super hot.” Not hot enough to leave Liam, mind you. Also, Miley made out with a man dressed as a baby in London last week. Tongue and all. Gross.

These new popstars like Miley and Selena are trying to sell themselves as the New Britney and trying to hijack her fanbase, but it is not working at all. In fact, the comparisons only make me dislike them more.

Haha, that was my very first thought before reading the article. Maybe I don’t get it, but my thought is, if you are wearing a midriff bearing top, you are kind of wanting attention right? Maybe I’m getting too old, but if you are showing a decent amount of skin, that’s looking for attention, even if just walking your dog.
Seriously? Just a midriff top means a woman is asking for inappropriate attention? Boy did I ask for it a LOT when I was in my teens and early twenties, then.
Unfortunately, that’s how messed up our culture is- we can’t go braless, wear a short t-shirt, or wear a shirt or tank top that happens to show any cleavage without people assuming that we’re desperate for ‘attention’. A woman can’t exercise her right to wear whatever she wants without people assuming that she has some kind of ulterior motive.

Eh…she sure as hell wants her picture taken almost everyday now so…yeah. I miss the Miley that only did Pilates and Liam. *sigh*

If she truly wanted to shut down for a while she could. She has enough money that she doesn’t have to worry about working for a year or two or more (or probably ever again if it was invested right). She wants to be in the spotlight and that is her privilege but she is just trying to get some “poor me, they won’t leave me alone” sympathy.
Didn’t Miley just choose have a time-out the past couple of tears? I vaguely remember her making statements. She was also quite vocal about leaving twitter several times and taking a break and stuff.
I see it differently. She does want to be in the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean its always easy to be, for her or any other celebrity. Its like for us normal folk, having a job you love, but not liking your nosy coworkers or your demanding clients, except she can’t switch companies, only careers. So I don’t blame celebs for complaining sometimes, bc any normal person would too, and to me it has nothing to do with being ungrateful.
Sure, she can walk away now, but I cannot imagine the pressure she must have been under during those Hannah Montana years. She was making so much money for so many people (including her parents) they must have put an immense amount of pressure on her to act and tour. That must do a number on your view of the world if you have those kinds of responsibilities and expectations as a tween and a teen.
She had a break for a couple of years. People were ridiculing her for having no career or ambition and hanging out with her dogs. Guess you can’t have it both ways.

Britney had a tragic meltdown in front of the entire world and she was scrutinized every single step of her downfall, and the paps hunted her down mercilessly, she lost it, she stumbled, she crumbled, some people were enjoying her downfall… then she turned her life around and is a decent mother to her 2 boys, not that she is a the brightest woman buuuut she came a loooong way, no one predicted she would be get back on her feet.
