Naomi Campbell has settled out of court with her former maid in a civil suit stemming from an alleged beating after a pair of Naomi’s designer jeans went missing. Although Campbell was arrested for assault immediately following the attack, she was never brought up on criminal charges in the incident. Gaby Gibson, who worked as Campbell’s maid for what I’m sure was a nightmarish three months, then filed a civil suit against the model in Manhattan. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but according to a statement, both sides are pleased with the outcome.
Naomi Campbell has ended her legal tussle with a former maid who accused the supermodel of hitting her and calling her names.
Terms of the settlement are confidential, but a lawyer for the 38-year-old Campbell says both sides were pleased with the outcome.
A lawyer for Gaby Gibson, who worked for Campbell from November 2005 through January 2006, didn’t immediately return a message asking for comment.
Gibson claimed in her lawsuit, filed in Manhattan, that the British catwalker also threatened to charge her with theft after being unable to find a pair of designer jeans.
Campbell denied the claims. She was never charged with any crime in the incident Gibson alleged.
Just to be clear – this is the incident in which Campbell assaulted Gibson by throwing a cell phone at her head, causing an injury that required four stitches. Not the 2000 incident in which Campbell beat up one of her personal assistants while on a Toronto film set, or the 2007 charge of assaulting a police officer at Heathrow Airport. I know – it is hard to keep up with all of Naomi’s assault charges, that’s why I’m here to help!
I do wonder how she gets away with it. She’s a supermodel, not a cage fighter. The woman has twig arms and never eats. I’d like to see her try to chuck a cell phone at MY head.
