Teresa and Joe Giudice plead not guilty to multiple counts of federal fraud

Teresa and Joe Giudice are charged with multiple counts of federal fraud for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and falsifying loan applications, among other things. They’re grifters who have become famous thanks to reality TV, and who use other people’s money to flaunt an illusion of wealth. Both of them are deep in denial enough to continue living high on the hog despite their 2010 bankruptcy and it’s finally catching up with them.

So many people are wondering when these two will get their comeuppance and the answer may be soon. Joe and Teresa were in court yesterday to enter a plea for their fraud charges. They both plead not guilty. Their trial is scheduled to begin on October 8. (That’s according to CBSNews. Hollywood Life claims that Teresa’s lawyer said her next court date will be October 3.) They’re being charged separately and have separate lawyers, as is customary in these type of cases. Unlike the last time they were in court, when they had their bail set at $500,000 each, they didn’t tussle with the paparazzi or do much more than keep their heads down. Sh*t is getting real for them and maybe they’re starting to realize it.

Teresa and Joe Giudice are innocent! The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars appeared in federal court Wednesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to the 39 charges of fraud and tax evasion.

Wearing a cream suit and a white blouse with her hair in a severe bun Teresa gripped her hubby Juicy Joe’s hand as they entered the New Jersey courthouse.

According to Philly.com after Teresa told the judge she was not guilty, the reality TV star headed off to a book signing.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Teresa and Joe are hoping for a plea deal that would not include jail time but that is looking unlikely for the pair.

“The government has a very, very strong case against the Giudices and wants to make an example of them. The Giudices will also be facing serious, significant financial penalties,” a source close to the legal proceedings said.

The 39-count indictment leveled against them claims that they conspired to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud and making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.

Teresa and Joe are out on $500,000 bond each and if they are convicted they are facing a whopping 50 years behind bars.

[From Radar Online]

As you may remember, Joe is not a US Citizen as he was born in Italy. He faces deportation if convicted on this or another separate case against him for identity theft. Joe’s lawyer hilariously told the press that his client had no idea he was not a US citizen and that “the rest of his family is. Had he known and applied for citizenship he certainly would have gotten it.” Apparently Joe’s family moved to the US when he was one and he is a “legal permanent resident,” not a citizen. It looks like deportation is going to happen for him.

In terms of how much time they’ll see, US Weekly spoke to a lawyer who said that a typical sentence for these kind of crimes would be 18 to 36 months in prison. Considering that Martha Stewart did five months for some insider trading, a year and a half to three years for each of the Giudices seems more than fair. Also, I think Teresa is going to testify against Joe, I really do. I don’t think she’ll remain loyal to him but I could be wrong. She stood by him after he cheated on her multiple times so she may think they’re in this together.

What is with her hairline!? Seriously it looks like its drawn on with a sharpie!

    • blue marie says:

ha, that’s what I came here to say, it’s very distracting.

      • Jennabean says:

I just don’t understand why she hasn’t gotten her hair fixed. She got other plastic surgerys why not laser that mess to make u look like ur in this generation of humanity

    • gg says:

Took the words right out of my hands. I’d definitely be waxing myself a nice new hairline if it were me. It comes down almost as far as cut fringe would. Between her too-tight wig look and the makeup. SCARY.

    • eggnog says:

Before she was discovered and signed to Columbia Pictures, Rita Hayworth had a hairline like Teresa’s. Her hair was also dark.

Teresa is an attractive woman with (as my grandmother would have said” “a beautiful head of hair”. She’s had other procedures done, so I’m not sure why she hasn’t worked on her hairline.

    • lisa says:

she is so delusional maybe she thinks she is pretty as opposed to cro magnon

Juicy really is shaped like a meatball! Crooks!

  3. emmie_a says:

I’ve been comparing Teresa to Jesse Jackson Jr’s wife, who was indicted on lesser but sort of similar charges (lying to IRS) to Teresa and Sandra Jackson was just sentenced to one year in jail. Teresa is sort of delusional if she thinks she’s going to get out of this with zero jail time.

    • yuck says:

I think the comparative magnitude of the fraud in this case warrants much longer sentences for both Giudices. Arguably, the Jackson case was taking money that had already been donated to him for another purpose. With Joe and “Tre,” it was purposefully swindling the banks (and erstwhile partners) using all sorts of fakery. I am disappointed to hear only 18-36 months. What happened to 50 years?

      • emmie_a says:

Sandra Jackson was charged with lying about her income on her tax returns, which is why I think it is somewhat comparable to the Giudice’s case. I think w/out a doubt that Joe will get jail time and if Teresa knew what he was doing and was ‘in’ on his scams then she should get jail time as well.

      • blannie says:

I agree. I thought they were talking about a maximum of 15 years for them. What kind of a lesson is it if you’re only in jail for a year or two? They’ll just turn around and do the same thing again. These scammers should be in jail for a LONG time and Joe should be shipped back to Italy.

  4. lucy2 says:

OMG. That hair is Travolta level creepy.

They’ve already scammed enough people, I wish they’d just plead guilty and spare the tax payers the expense of prosecuting them.

  5. NeNe says:

If they are not held accountable for their fraud charges, that is just plain bullsh*t. The IRS made Lauren Hill, and Wesley Snipes, and I’m sure countless others do jail time for their crimes. So, why should these two morons be any different?? They should not be able to slide for this. They are both guilty and therefore should both do the same amount of jail time.

    • gg says:

I feel like there should also be ramifications for openly and ostentatiously flaunting your ill-gotten wealth, especially on television, in the manner of: check me out, I’m loaded, aren’t you jealous, I cheated to get my vulgar luxury house, and nobody can touch me. Because there are copycats. They should be made an example of in my opinion.

  6. Neelyo says:

She looks like she’s wearing one of those plastic sumu wrestler wigs.

  7. Yelly says:

OMG Juicy Joe. Everyone knows they’ll get off.

    • NeNe says:

I hope you’re wrong. Apparently, from the stories I have read, they have been investigating these two for years, and finally have enough proof to go after these two losers!

  8. janie says:

I especially love the way they saunter into court like they own the building. I heard last nite that her purse alone was almost 4 grand? They hosted a party at a Hard Rock Cafe in Florida last weekend, with the courts permission? WTF is going on here. Where is all this money coming from?? Throw their lying, cheating rears in prison!

    • lucy2 says:

They probably scammed the party somehow, but I agree – anyone in their position should not be permitted to do stuff like that.

  9. Green_eyes says:

Both of them need to do time. Both are as crooked as the letter “S”lime.

  10. truthful says:

    NOT GUILTY??

Greedy pigs, that think they are better than everyone else..

They both are criminals and both should serve time.

  11. frankly says:

I thought she had Bettie Page bangs.

  12. anne_000 says:

How did Joe not know he wasnt an US citizen? Dont u need 2show a ‘primary ID’ such as a birth certificate or passport or something that shows your citizenship or residence status?

Here’s NJ’s early bird dr. lic requirements assuming Joe got his DL while still a minor/student: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/EarlyBird.htm

    • janie says:

It appears he was scamming back then, or his parents were? He still has a case pending over stealing & using his brothers license! What a nasty thug!

    • anne_000 says:

Another thing, when the RHONJ cast went to Italy three years ago, wasnt it mentioned that Joe had to use an Italian passport instead of an US one?
So I’m thinking he knew from at least that point in time that he wasnt an US citizen.
