Soap opera actress and Miss USA 1991 Kelli McCarty has found a novel way to ride out the recession. The 39 year-old former Passions star has signed with Vivid Entertainment, where she just completed her first adult film, Faithless, to be released on February 4:
McCarty, who played maniacal Beth Wallace on “Passions” for seven years, is now a “Vivid Entertainment” girl — and has just wrapped on her first XXX feature, “Faithless,” in which she plays the lead character to a very very supporting cast.
So, why the career move? Here’s the explanation — “I enjoy acting,and I really like sex … so this was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my passions.”

Contracts with Vivid can be some of the most lucrative in the adult film industry for their female talent. They put out films of higher production quality and are considered the leader in the industry. Jenna Jameson signed with a company called Wicked and was able to avoid some of the seedier, bottom-feeding aspects of porn through representation and a lot of self preservation. I remember her mentioning in her biography that Vivid has a good reputation and treats their actresses well. It’s still porn, though, and there’s an understandable stigma associated with it.
This woman is 39 and while that’s not old by most standards it is when it comes to adult films. She’s had a lot of work done and has a kind of puppet face that looks like the result of a careless surgeon. The career move may be a step down to her knees, but it probably pays a lot more. She’s also getting much more coverage than she had in seven years of playing a villain on a now-canceled soap opera. Coverage doesn’t always translate to opportunity, though. Just ask Lindsay Lohan.

Kinda sad. She was a “real” actress and now porn. Sure, anyone can do anything they want with their bodies but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to feel sorry for her.
They should start handing out porn modeling contracts to all Miss USA winners. They all take off their clothes eventually; might as well.

It’s not sad. If she’s desperately hard up for money, she can easily fill out a FAFSA form and get a Pell Grant / student loans for a college degree.
If she wants to become a professional f*ck monkey and later regrets it, it’s her own fault. I don’t feel sympathetic toward any sex worker who willingly enters the industry.
Maybe she’s being truthful and she really just likes sex. It’s her prerogative!

Seriously, Jane. And I’m soooo sick of everyone in the industry talking publicly about how they like it for the sex, when in private, they tell others in the know that its work that isn’t all that sexually enjoyable, unless you are an exhibitionist freak.

mai - i think it really depends on the person and the type of pornography. high-end fetish porn tends to be more enjoyed by the models for the simple reason that it’s really hard to fake that kind of response to pain stimulus if you don’t have it. i’ve seen a fair amount, and it’s really obvious when it’s a model who likes to bottom and when it’s a porn star who has been talked into doing a fetish video.

Why all the negativity over Kelli’s choice and her alleged drug habit and plastic surgery? There’s no proof of either.
Vivid does take care of their superstars, like they continue to do for Christy Canyon and others who are living normal lives.
Porno does not end careers, it often helps, as in the case of soap actress Lesli Kay, former teacher Ron Jeremy. and RN Nina Hartley. -
This has to be the biggest case of exhibitionism ever. To do all that in front of the camera knowing everybody and his brother will see it especially already being a celebrity. She wants to show it all and i hope she shows more. I think she just had to do it to cum knowing she will be distributed to millions. I will buy any sex videos she does. Hottest thing i have ever seen.
