Jessica Simpson debuts baby Ace Knute on the cover of Us Weekly: super-cute?

Well, well, well. Jessica Simpson finally debuted her second child, Ace Knute Johnson, on the cover of this week’s Us Weekly. Remember, Jessica debuted Maxwell Drew on the cover of People Magazine, a reported exclusive that cost People something like $3 million? I wonder how much she got from Us Weekly? It was definitely less money, I’m sure. There just wasn’t that much interest in Jess’s second pregnancy or with this baby, but still. Jessica wanted to show him off. And Maxi got on the cover too! But not Eric.

Boy, meet world! Almost two months to the day after welcoming her second child with fiance Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson is still basking in the glow of new motherhood — and proudly showing off her adorable new son on the cover of Us Weekly!

Posing with baby boy Ace, daughter Maxwell, 15 months, and former NFL star Johnson at their home in Hidden Hills, Calif., on Aug. 12, the fashion mogul was positively radiant. In an exclusive interview for the Sept. 9 issue of the magazine, she opened up about becoming a second-time mom, dealing with “hurtful” weight bullies, and planning for the future of her family.

“With two kids, we have our hands full, but every day is a new adventure,” the 33-year-old singer, who gave birth to Ace via planned C-section on June 30, told Us. “It’s fun! I feel very at peace with being a mom.”

That said, she’s not eager to add to her brood anytime soon — if at all. Simpson found out she was pregnant with Ace less than six months after giving birth to Maxwell, so she’s looking forward to just settling in as a mom of two.

“Pregnancy is a lot. It was hard to do two so close together,” she confessed to Us. “I have this huge sense of accomplishment, and I feel in my heart that I’m done. But obviously, accidents do happen!”

For more from our exclusive interview with Jessica Simpson — including Maxwell’s reaction to her baby brother, details on her post-baby diet and exercise plan, and an update on her wedding plans — pick up the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands Friday!

[From Us Weekly]

“I feel in my heart that I’m done. But obviously, accidents do happen!” Good God, woman, just go on the Pill! Or use some other kind of birth control. Anything to make sure that you don’t get knocked up again right away. Anyway, I kind of like that she’s admitting the obvious, that Ace Knute was unplanned (but not unwanted). “Oops” pregnancies aren’t always traumatic. Sometimes they’re just Farty. Also, I bet her doctors don’t want her to have another C-section so close to having two C-sections within 13 months. Yikes.

    Adorable, now take a break!

  2. LadyMTL says:

Two C-sections in roughly a year? Wow, that has to be hard on the body. She definitely needs to start using some kind of birth control, otherwise what’s the point in even sewing her back up?

    • Renee says:

Your comment is gross (because I imagine her walking around for a year with her innards hanging out) but is also super funny. Maybe you win the internets today????

      • Hakura says:

@Renee – “…(because I imagine her walking around for a year with her innards hanging out)…

I think there must be something wrong with me. After reading that comment, an image came (unbidden) to my mind, thinking ‘If that were the case, & the person was a celebrity, I’m sure they’d have some poor assistant assigned to ‘tending’ to said prolapsed pregnancy organs… while they went about their business shopping at Chanel & what not.

        x___x *SMH* I don’t know. It wasn’t a pretty thought.

      • LadyMTL says:

Hahaha, thanks! I realized after I posted it that it did sound gross but the idea of 2 c-sections in a 13 months is gross too (to me at least, lol).

    • BooBooLaRue says:

      There is always Velcro.

    • Yup, Me says:

After having a baby via Cesarean, doctors recommend that women wait at least 2 years before becoming pregnant again. It gives the uterus and abdominal muscles time to heal.

I met a woman who said she had some numbness/tenderness around her c-section scar for SIX YEARS after having one child. I wonder how these women who are doing it back to back numerous times are feeling?

      • jaye says:

I didn’t really pay attention to how long I had the numbness around my c-section scar, but I know I experienced numbness for a loooooong time afterward.

  3. RocketMerry says:

    Awww, so cute! Congrats again.

  4. SamiHami says:

Say what you want about her, but she does make pretty babies!

  5. Samtha says:

Ah, he’s got a little pout too! Very cute.

  6. Leah says:

    She has the cutest kids!!

  7. Jayna says:

    Beautiful photo.

  8. Anna says:

Why is she so shiny on the cover? It’s like she is smothered in Vaseline.

  9. Annabelle says:

Cute kids. Hasn’t she mentioned in interviews that neither of her pregnancies were planned? She needs to get on reliable birth control ASAP to prevent any more “oops” babies.

    • Hautie says:

Honestly. I would not be surprised if Jessica had her tubes tied. After this last baby.

Then again. She would be the one percent, whose tubes grew back together. And end up with twins.

  10. Dawn says:

She has beautiful babies and for some reason I don’t think she is done. I bet she has one more in a few years.

  11. Hakura says:

I decided a long time ago that I did NOT want children. (Not saying this couldn’t change, but still). Even in the ‘heat of passion’, I’ve generally got a BC plan, & back-up plan. (BC Pills regularly, Morning After Pill in the medicine cabinet, condoms & even possibly a diaphragm) xD I know it’s more than a little extreme, but I don’t want ANY accidents. *paranoid*

    • arabella says:

Hey that’s smart! I need to get some morning after pills in my cabinet, just in case. Thanks for the tip 🙂

      • Hakura says:

@Arabella – Glad to be of help!! =) I figured, even with all the other options, there’s always a chance. So it’s always better to be safe than sorry. n__n

    • janie says:

I think she looks beautiful in this photo and her babies are gorgeous. Her family has been thru a lot in the past couple of years with their parents. I think Eric really loves her & is probably the voice of reason for her. Leave her alone.

      • Hakura says:

@janie – I don’t know if you meant to comment to my post or not, but I definitely wasn’t dissing Jessica in any way. I just *personally* would be more careful (if I wasn’t actively planning to have another child)..

But I don’t mean to imply that she isn’t a wonderful mom or regrets getting pregnant & having another child (I’d never make an assumption like that). They appear to be happy, & I hope they continue to do well. =3

  12. Ellen Smith says:

She will be pregnant again soon. It’s her only “skill set” at this point.

    • StormsMama says:

It’s also a hormonal thing—-she didn’t breast feed right? And her second pregnancy helped her avoid the crash of regular life about 4-8 months after having the baby. She needs to ride it out and just concentrate on actually mothering. But I feel her bc I loved being pregnant and even now with just my one 16 mo girl I’m still imagining a “right time” to get pregnant again.

    • fingerbinger says:

I think that’s Eric’s only “skill set”. He doesn’t seem to do much else. I don’t think he’s being Mr.Mom either.

  13. blue marie says:

    she’s got adorable kids..

I’m wondering though why Liam would be worried about Miley, are they still together? I thought it was done

  14. Sam says:

I wish celebrities didn’t take this whole “accidents happen, whoopsie!” view. That’s not what young girls need to hear. There are now methods of BC that are far, far more reliable than the Pill (IUDs, implants, shots, etc.). “Accidents” with those methods are far fewer than with pills. I wish more women in the public eye talked frankly about birth control and how to use it correctly. The US still has one of the highest unplanned pregnancy rates in the world, and I wonder if the whole “happy accident” thing helps play into that. I’d like to see a female celebrity talk about taking some actual charge of her reproductive life for once.

    • NM9005 says:

Because Simpson is a pretty dumbass and that’s part of her huge appeal apparently. She’s fertile, she’s willing and SHE supports her man in every aspect (she bought him a push present, remember?).

I don’t get it. Neither her fanbase nor her image. That’s her being ‘one of us’ so they say. I’d rather not be like her =/ Smdh.

    • erinS says:

I agree it’s not a message that young girls need to hear. Reproductive health and education should definitely be given more of a priority to today’s teenagers. However, a 30 something engaged millionaire with an “unplanned but not unwelcomed” pregnancy is far and away different than the unplanned pregnancies that are being somewhat glorified and rewarded on MTV’s 16 and pregnant.

      • Sam says:

True – Simpson clearly has the means to care for her kids, and an unplanned pregnancy won’t be a life-changer for her the way it would be for others. However, even millionaires have the right to plan their pregnancies and kids, and she’s no exception. Even wealthy girls and women should be getting accurate info about BC. Simpson just comes across to me as not very smart. She talked a lot about having Maxwell about not being ready for another child, so that would have been a great moment to actually talk about BC. I get that no woman has a duty to talk about her private medical decisions, and that should be respected. But I wish we had female celebs who are open about BC and planning their kids as opposed to Jessica’s “happy accident, whoops!” stuff. And young girls sure do look to people in the public eye, so I wish they got more appropriate messages from them.

    • Noodles says:

If there is one thing I would like to drive home into my kids’ minds when they are older– boyfriends come and go, babies are forever.

I think there is definitely an “It won’t happen to ME!” mentality out there sometime. Yes it can, and it will.

    • Bridget says:

Don’t get me wrong, it would be very nice to see an open, infornative discussion about proper birth control (Mirena here!). But also, both her children were unplanned, is she supposed to say anything other than what she said? There’s a chance those kids will read this when they’re a lot older.

      • Sam says:

She has been open that both her kids were unplanned pregnancies. She was open about after having Maxwell that she did not want to have another child immediately (those interviews were posted here). Most people can handle being an “accident” just fine (I know I was). I don’t think her kids need shielding from it.

  15. JustaGirl says:

    Cute kids!

I had three c-sections in three years. Neither me nor my babies had any problems, and my ob/gyns didn’t seem concerned about them being close together.

    • JenD says:

Ohmigosh! You were just getting one out of diapers when you got a new one into diapers. You are a momma warrior! 🙂

      • JustaGirl says:

Ha! That was the easy part. Although it’s smooth sailing right now, I have a feeling the real “fun” is about to start now that they are 13, 12, and 11. I’ll have a house full of hormonal teenagers soon. Yikes!

  16. MeowuiRose says:

He looks like a baby meh. Where is Eric? Kinda odd to do a family photo without Eric. I think she included her daughter to draw people in.

  17. lisa2 says:

Her daughter has gotten so much cuter.. She looks so beautiful

  18. truthful says:

    cute, she seems happy.

  19. Penelope says:

Gorgeous kids; no surprise there. Eh, Jess doesn’t bother me–she seems like a nice enough person. The ex football “star” (LOL) husband may or may not be a goldigger but at least they seem happy together.

  20. Sabrine says:

If Eric is looking after the kids, I don’t see anything to criticize him about. Where is he going to make the kind of money she is with her hugely successful fashion line? He doesn’t need to work. If she marries him though she better have an iron clad prenup.

Look at her net worth. She’s not that much of a dumb ass.

  21. Suckmyfarts says:

I feel like a piece of crap for even saying this but I expected her daughter to be much cuter. Not saying she won’t be a beautiful as she gets older. I guess since I think Jess is so pretty I expected a mini Jess.
I just think she looks like a little boy w/ longer hair. Ugh I’m sorry! I’m a piece of crap for even thinking it but I can’t help it 🙁

    • Moore says:

Didn’t something caller the little girl crazy beautiful? I didn’t see it. I think she’s cute but that’s it.

  22. LahdidahBaby says:

    Most beautiful celebutots ever, imo.

  23. Asdfg says:

    Awww! Cute kids! 🙂

  24. Diana says:

    What’s gorgeous family!!!

  25. mslewis says:

Her babies are adorable. Look at those lips on Ace. I hope Jessica gives her body a rest for awhile because two little ones are enough for anybody,

  26. Dibba says:

Photo is too washed out with white clothing and Jessica’s overly peroxided hair…

  27. Meggin says:

Awww, her daughter is so beautiful! Not sure about the choice of all white clothing when they are all so blonde. But her kids are gorgeous.

  28. Lisa says:

    Nope.

  29. jwoolman says:

Sometimes contraceptive measures just don’t work, it ultimately depends on the woman’s own physiology/biochemistry which also can vary over time. Even using several measures simultaneously can fail. She’s obviously open to pregnancy, so it doesn’t matter so much to her. Alas, the only sure-fire contraceptive method is to either be absolutely sterile or to never let his little swimmers have the remotest chance of getting near your eggs.

  30. Carolyn says:

Nice photo. Eric obviously has no star power, otherwise he would have been on the cover too.

PMK must really really be krapping herself now. Even Jess has a cover for her 2nd baby. Eveyone’s lost interest in Kim. Baby covers don’t get anywhere near as much $$ as they used to.

PMK: “Kim. Hurry up and lose that weight. Now”
Kim: “But mum I’m still really big. And I’m not hot”.
PMK” “Kim. The window is closing. Hurry up”.

  31. TherapyCranes says:

Why is the photo so bright? It’s blinding me. The kids aren’t that cute in the cover photo. The baby looks like a baby and the toddler has a creepy look to her eyes. The other photo of the child is super adorable however.
