Kelly Osbourne: ‘My boobs have grown very large and I don’t know why’

Kelly Osbourne

Here’s a photo of Kelly Osbourne at the DKNY show at New York Fashion Week. Miss Kelly is making the rounds not only because she’s co-host of the E! Fashion Police show but also to promote her upcoming clothing line. This will be a plus-sized-friendly collection. Kelly has taken great care to explain that her line is not only for plus sizes but also for anyone above a size 10. Her main motivation in targeting the 10s and above is that the prices supposedly increase at the 10 point. Is that true? Kelly says that her line will not be priced dependent upon size of clothing. That is a seriously awesome attitude.

Kelly also seems rather preoccupied upon the size of her own rack, which she says has increased without explanation. She might be trying to ward off rumors of breast implants but who knows. I have some thoughts on that topic, but first here are Kelly’s own words:

Kelly Osbourne

1. The clothes will be bigger, yes, but not more expensive. “First thing I want to make very clear: I’m not just doing a plus-size line. I’m doing a line for every girl that goes past a size 10. In my research, I’ve found that the prices go up after size 10 and that really hurts my heart – it’s not fair! So with my line, the size 2 will be the same price as the size 24. Yes, there’s more fabric and yes, it costs more to make, but it will be the same price for every girl that wants to wear it, end of story.”

2. That said, the clothes will be large enough to accommodate her, uh, growing bosom. “I have no idea what’s happening to me – my boobs have grown very large and I don’t know why,” she confesses. “Everyone is like, ‘You’re pregnant, you’re pregnant!’ and I’m like, ‘No! that’s not happening!’ It’s kind of fun, though. It’s nice have them for once.”

3. Crop tops will probably be involved. And her dad Ozzy will probably rock one, too. “I’m always in crop tops. I love them. In fact, the funniest Tweet I’ve ever received was from my father after I posted a pic of myself wearing a crop top. He said, ‘I love that shirt! Can you get me that shirt?’ and I was like ‘No, Dad! It’s a crop top!'”

[From People]

There’s plenty of stuff to talk about here. Yet what really captures my attention is Kelly’s claim that her boobs are growing without warning. I can’t speak from personal experience, but the same thing happened to my college BFf. She got a breast reduction and was so happy. Then they grew back! Has anyone else had this before? In my own experience, the girls have stayed the same size since age 16. So I really can’t identify other than to speak of the aging factor. You know, lack of bounce.

Let’s do a quick rack check, shall we? Here’s Kelly at the Young Hollywood Awards about a month ago.

In comparison to the above 2013 pics, here’s Kelly’s rack in 2011.

And here she is in 2009. Yes that rack is definitely growing!

    I don’t really see a difference?

    • pantalones en fuego says:

Nope. Me either. From the pic of her in the yellow dress I would guess that she’s a B cup at best.

  2. Eleonor says:

I’ve got a friend who’s boobs started growing after 25, mine are the same size since I was 14.

  3. The Wizz says:

Never fear Kelly, at 26 mine just suddenly started growing, no weight gain or anything like that causing it. Who knows, they have stayed the size they grew too.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Me, too, and it also happened to my niece around that age. We say we’re late bloomers.

    • Jennipurrr says:

I had a reduction at 19 (5 pounds off each breast) and they grew back to almost the same size in a short time. Only bonus? They are not heavy like they were. The density was removed.

My mom always had small boobs but when she went from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism, they got gigantic. This was in her 40s. I still find it really weird, almost 20 years later.

  4. Val says:

My mom got breast reduction in her thirties and they only got big again after gaining weight. But you know, there’s hormones too.

  5. Judy says:

She looks like she is slowly gaining again all the weight she lost.

  6. Amelia says:

Mine tend to expand and shrink without warning over the month, I reckon she hasn’t gone for implants.
They never mentioned the need for different bra sizes during puberty. -_-

    • loveisthecoal says:

Okay, I’m really glad I’m not the only one who this happens to. They fluctuate almost a whole darn cup size throughout the month. I too have the normal bras and then a couple in a bigger size for when that happens. Sorry if that was TMI but anyone I’ve ever mentioned this to before has looked at me like I’m nuts!

      • Sea Dragon says:

Same here – almost a cup size larger. It’s painful and if I could I’d bind them just to feel more comfortable.
Careful observers (a.k.a. my boyfriend and boyfriends past) always know within a weeks time when I will start my period. lol

      • Tulip Garden says:

I have had this problem. The swelling was painful. I was told after a breast exam to stop drinking caffeine because it irritates my breast tissue. I have two cups of half caffeine in the morning and that is it. It is made a world of difference! I failed to follow this rule last month and have been miserably enlarged for a week. Never again! Now I remember why I gave up most of the caffeine, totally worth it.

      • snakecharmer says:

mine can go from a full b small c to a FULL D to double d within the span of the month. its the hormones and weight fluctuations

      • nicegirl says:

happens to me monthly, boob size change, and with weight gains and losses.

CAN YOU IMAGINE how RIDICULOUS dudes would be if their peens got smaller (or bigger, LOL) relatively arbitrarily?

This is such a funny idea to me I am ROFL!

    • Belle Epoch says:

Also she may be on the pill – different formulas affect your body differently. My boobs turned into pregnancy boobs from the pill – it freaked me out.

  7. Maddie says:

Every time I see her with that lavender hair I mind go directly to Mrs. Slocombe from Are You Being Served?

    • Amelia says:

“[removes her gas mask] What about this fog! My pussy’s been gasping all night.”
      I’ll see myself out . . .

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Mrs. Axelby would never allow her to step out of the house in that yellow prom night atrocity.

‘How much would it cost to buy you, yon banana-hued hag of a gaberdine?’

      ‘I’m free!’

      Sounds about right.

    • Veeeeery Veerytas says:

And I am unanimous in that.

  8. nicole says:

This happened to me! I went up about 2 cup sizes in my late 20s with no real changes. I had lost a bit of weight elsewhere actually and all of a sudden was busting (pun intended) out of my C and D cup bras. The only thing I did change was I went off of the pill…which is the opposite of what I thought would happen.

  9. hadleyb says:

She has also gained weight, if you look up other current photos especially “candids” you can tell.

Sometimes when you regain weight it doesn’t go back where it used to be so maybe this time around it went to her boobs. I think she knows she has gained weight, people have started to comment and she is making an excuse for it or trying to deflect the comments.

    • snakecharmer says:

i noticed that i gain weight differently since my late 20s and also that i couldnt diet and lose weight overnight as i had in the past.

  10. pao la says:

It might be due to the fact her weight oscillates so much? She was full shaped first, then skinny, then fuller, and then skinny and so it goes.. My boobs get bigger or smaller when i gain weight or when i lose some weight. boobs are mostly made of fat so i guess that might be an explanation

  11. teehee says:

Huh that would be so cool. But I guess I’m too old for that to happen, having just turned 30. PHOOEY!!

    • Rhiannonkk says:

I was barely a b cup until my thirties. All of a sudden they just grew. I’ve had friends actually grab them because nobody believed it wasn’t work. Now a full c.

      • Narak says:

My rack has gone from 34b to 36c over the years and I’ve gained 10 pounds- apparently and sadly on my chest. I liked being smaller- clothes fit better- boobtastic isn’t that great.

  12. Pinky says:

Fat’s gotta go somewhere. If you lose weight and start to gain some of it back, sometimes it makes a detour upstairs. If she loses weight again, it’ll be the first to go, and it just might disappear in time as her weight settles anyway.

I increased a cup and a half once when I was very attracted to a dude (but couldn’t, um, express it in any other way). It was incredibly shocking and I was embarrassed (though I didn’t hear anyone else complaining). The buttons on my shirts wouldn’t close, my bras became rack straightjackets and I looked like I had four knockers, each trying to bust out of my top. Tried working out but they only gradually went away once I was no longer around the guy. Ah, memories. Wish I had them back. (The knockers, not the dude. Although…)

    • OutoftheLoop says:

Loved your story. What a crazy experience that must have been. And I’m extremely curious about this guy who influenced your ta tas to bloom so much.

      • Pinky says:

What would you like to know? : )

Bottom line is, he wasn’t available, so I did my best to keep my distance–even duck into a closet to avoid him when possible. But my boobs were having none of it. Benedict sluts.

  13. Sisi says:

yeah my breasts change over the months from almost nonexistant, to perky and cleavageworthy, and back. Like ebb and flow in the ocean, only slower. My weights been almost the same since highschool.

  14. Susie Q says:

Maybe they’re bigger to match her big mouth. Not sure why celebrities (I hate to call her that) think they have to share every detail of their lives with us. She should turn herself in to the fashion police, she’s a terrible dresser.

  15. Lola B says:

What is she talking about? Clothes cost more for a size 10 than a 2? That’s not true. When I walk into a store and buy jeans or a dress, the entire rack is the same price regardless of size.

    • TriedTru says:

No, no – it’s true. Go online and check most shops, there is an additional cost for larger clothes (this is also true for some bigger shoes). Certainly this isn’t always the case but I think if there was research done, it’s more often than not.

    • teehee says:

Yes, its very true. Larger clothes always cost more. Even if its nothign at all special or fancy. Lane Bryant is super expensive in the US, and here in DE there is a line of plus clothing, which can run you around 70 euros (80 bucks) for nothign mroe than a bedazzled TSHIRT. My god! I could never afford it and I feel it is so unfair. I can understand the extra bit of fabric may cost more, but the inflation of the price is nowhere congruent with the increase in fabric!!
I think manufacturers take advantage of the fact that plus sizers are left with no other choice, ie, no competition to reduce prices, and have an attitude of “hey we’re offering you something special” and give plus sizers a “special” higher price.

  16. TriedTru says:

Can someone identify the dress she is wearing the first picture? I really like it!

  17. Barrett says:

Um I have small boobs and they never grow! Wish this could happen to me!

  18. Bopit says:

Ugh those blunt bangs make her face look so much rounder and heavier than it is!

  19. Anki says:

Well of course plus size clothes cost more – more fabric used!

    • mytbean says:

      exactly. jeez.

    • nicegirl says:

it does suck though, that stuff costs more for some folks than for others. I used to sell wedding gowns and it was heartbreaking the way the industry handles dressing gals over a size 16 (and in wedding gowns, that is pretty small). I love that she is doing this with her line, and I bet she can afford it, too! I hope her stuff is good . . .

  20. Feebee says:

I thought the price went up around size 14 or 16? It has nothing to do with the price of fabric. If that was the case you could argue bikinis should be a lot cheaper. Or size 0 and 2 should be cheaper than a size 8.

Boobs can be fickle things. No idea what’s going on with hers.

  21. mytbean says:

I’m wondering if after her dietary changes she’s re-introducing a bit more fat in her diet? I know when you go super lean you lose fat everywhere. Hmm… Maybe she’s trying to tell us she’s pregnant. 😮

    • Holly says:

Maybe the vegan fiance is slipping her a lot of soy? (JK, I know she’s said she does her own food thing and doesn’t share his diet, but, I still can still see her chowing on soy bacon and such without realizing it.

I vote some weight gain+age. Kelly was yo-yo-ing for so long that it makes sense that her body has been stable for a while now and is getting a chance to develop as it would have/should.

      • vck says:

I know you said j/k but I had to stay off dairy for a month and I replaced my regular latte with a soy milk latte…and hello up a cup size…

      • Chloeee says:

Be careful with that soy…it affects me instantly too and my periods are from hell if I consume too much of it. If it affects you so quickly do it in moderation. But gotta love the increase in bust size.

      • Stef Leppard says:

Ack, how could you not realize you were eating soy bacon?

      • Tiffany :) says:

Soy does mimmick estrogen. It isn’t good to consume large quantities if you are at high risk for breast cancer.

      • Holly says:

whoa, I thought it was just me, good to hear it’s not.

Somehow I picture Kelly a little clueless about food unless she’s using a delivery service. I bet she’d say yes to a BLT without giving thought to the B!

  22. Lucrezia says:

Re: boobs growing back after a reduction – depends on what was making the boobs so large in the first place.

If it was mostly fat cells that were removed, then new fat cells aren’t going to form unless you put on a large chunk of weight. But glandular tissue is a lot more likely to grow back, especially if you’re young.

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I thought the old cells just stretched with weight gain.

Someone explain those bangs and glasses to me.

  23. Jayna says:

Mind did, too, and people accused me of a boob job. Sadly, it’s just because my breasts have gotten more fibrous (is that the word?) and I also get so full a week before my period that I fall in love with my own breasts. LOL

    • I Choose Me says:

and I also get so full a week before my period that I fall in love with my own breasts.

*whispers* So it’s not just me? Oh thank goodness. I’m a DD naturally but when I’m having my period they get super full and er, perkier than at other times. 🙂

  24. Jayna says:

Please go back to brunette, Kelly. You have the skin of Rachael Weisz, and I don’t get how you for years have been every color but the color that makes you look so pretty and your features pop, you dark brunette hair color. Blonde fades you.

  25. janie says:

Not one of my favorite people.. What does she do exactly? Critique clothes for a living, because of who her parents are? Boobs fluctuate with weight, she’s no different.

  26. pooh says:

I always thought she had implant before this. Can’t remember which season of the Osbourne’s it was but I remember them suddenly being huge and round and shr was showing them off in low cut tops. I always thought she had gastric surgery and lipo. Which would explain the reason for the boob size if they are not fake. Fat has to go somewhere if liposuctioned out. I personally love her and think her style is very edgy. I think her line will be great….but I believe her weight loss story is rubbish.

  27. J says:

She also could have had lipo- when you gain weight after other places get bigger first…

  28. Audrey says:

My boss had 3 breast reduction surgeries. They grew back twice 🙁

  29. s says:

I grew 2 cup sizes when I turned thirty and not because I gained weight. I have no idea why and neither did my OB-GYN

  30. Nilber says:

I had a reduction after I had my son. I was a 34D prior to getting pregnant. After the steriods and an extremely hard pregnancy I was a 36G. They didn’t go down and it was extremely uncomfortable and painful. After surgery I was a small D or large C cup depending on the bra. I am now a 34DD. It is what it is. Also prices go up after 16 for most brands, at least the ones I am familiar with.

  31. Jane says:

Boobs are fat. For most women, they will grown with age and weight.

  32. Chloeee says:

I went my whole pubescent life with my DD mom telling me my barely B’s were small. In the past year I’ve noticed some spillage, and many of my friends argued that I didn’t have small ones like I thought. So I went in to get fitted thinking I must have gone up a little. Apparently I have D’s. I must have texted everyone to celebrate. My mom couldn’t care less and just asked if I was pregnant. Thanks mom.

  33. Ashley says:

“Kelly Osbourne: ‘My boobs have grown very large and I don’t know why’”
Thanks for sharing little spoiled brat…. I really couldn’t go to sleep tonight not knowing this…(Rolling my eyes..)

  34. Meg says:

    is she pregnant?

  35. Bread and Circuses says:

I know someone who was utterly flat-chested until her mid-twenties, and then within the space of a year, she went to a C-cup.

Who knew boobs could arrive fashionably late?

  36. Alexis says:

Her fiance is sooooooo gross. That is all.

  37. Carolyn says:

Glancing at the photo used on the “summary” page I thought it was Paula Deen, not Kelly. Oops!

I like her on Fashion Police.

  38. Str8Shooter says:

    She is SO deep!

  39. snappyfish says:

I was a 34B until I was about thirty-five, and suddenly my boobs got bigger. not overnight, but over the course of about six months. I didn’t gain weight anywhere else, and I am now a solid 34C, almost a D. I went off the pill because mr. snappy got a vasectomy, but I’ve never heard of gaining a full cup size going off birth control.

  40. homegrrl says:

Prolly normalizing after a severe weight loss and drop in artificial neurotransmitters (drugs)

  41. Jay says:

I’m always baffled by how many women don’t realise that boobs grow and shrink with weight gain/loss. I recently put on a couple of kilos and went from a 30DD to a 30E; back in high school when I was a waif of a thing who weighed less than 100 pounds, I was barely a 30A. It’s pretty common for women to have their boobs change sizes regularly or semi-regularly throughout their lives.

  42. TherapyCranes says:

I’ve always had large breats since I was 12. However when I hit my mid 20’s they did start to grow even larger. I don’t have kids btw.

  43. Penelope says:

She looks cute in the picture with the black glasses, but she’s got a huge melon and doesn’t know a damn thing about fashion. KO critiquing the way others dress is just flat-out hilarious.

She’s talentless and not much to look at. Never underestimate the power of having famous parents.
