Just last week, Jon Gosselin revealed that he’s working as a waiter in Pennsylvania and is living in a remote cabin without Internet or television. It’s unknown why Jon went public with his situation, but he may have needed the money. Jon’s ex wife, Kate Gosselin, is also looking for some kind of post reality show career. She has a new cookbook out called Love is in The Mix. I could have sworn that she’d already put out a cookbook, but she just has three other memoir-type books.
In a new interview on The Today Show, Kate promoted the book and talked a little about her ex, Jon. She’s currently suing him for allegedly giving her personal data files to a hack author named Robert Hoffman. Hoffman briefly self published a book on Amazon called Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World. The book included supposed digital diary entries from Kate in which she detailed spanking the children and losing her temper. Kate’s lawyers had the book pulled. On the Today Show, Kate explained why she sued Jon, saying “it had to be done for the future and safety of my kids.”
In the latest legal struggle between the exes, Kate has filed suit, accusing her ex of hacking her phone and computer, and even stealing a hard drive, in order to gain allegedly defamatory material for Robert Hoffman’s tell-all tome, “Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World.”
“It’s in the middle of litigation, so I cannot say a lot about it,” she warned before continuing. “I can say that when we started out investigating the source of what was happening, I made the decision back then to push this. … Actually, I’ve lost a lot of employment opportunities over the rumor mill circulating false stuff.”
She added that “the most unexpected and disappointing” part of it all was learning “who was at the center of it.” And although she believes that to be the father of her children, who can be seen in the video during an alleged run-in with a paparazzo, she doesn’t regret taking legal action.
“It has to be done for the safety and the future of my kids,” she told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie.
There’s something else Kate has no regrets about — her family’s participation in the reality TV show that made them a household name.
“Honestly, 100 percent, the kids and I would both tell you it’s a great experience,” she said of their “Plus 8” days. “I do not regret anything in my life, and if I could rewind time, I would absolutely do the show again.”
But those days are over, and now Kate has something else keeping her busy — promoting her new book, “Kate Gosselin’s Love Is in the Mix,” which features recipes, tips and tales for cooking for a big brood. It hits stores Tuesday.
I call BS on Kate’s line that she’s suing Jon “for her kids.” Kate is suing Jon because he made her look bad. This has nothing to do with their kids, who seem to adore their father. Jon was clearly in the wrong on this, but Kate is pursuing this to get back at him. If she merely wanted to stop the book’s author she would go after that guy alone.
Also, does Kate really believe that she lost career opportunities because of a poorly written book which no one read? The public has seen her on television for years. They’ve seen her bitch out her nanny for eating a piece of pizza, and they’ve seen her act like a diva on Dancing with The Stars. Even Kate’s DWTS dance partner, Tony Dovolani, has nothing nice to say about her. This woman ruined her own reputation. I do have to say that she came across as much more likable in this Today Show segment than she’s been in the past, though. She may be getting some humility now that the spotlight has faded.

Suing him, which is going to cost Kate nothing because she gets to use TLC lawyers, is going to cost Jon a lot of money, which he doesn’t even have, which will lead to massive debt. Doesn’t she realize that Jon going bankrupt is only taking away from their KIDS??? It will harm the kids both physically and mentally. He will literally have nothing to give to his kids and he won’t be able to spend time with them because he will have to work his ass off to pay off the judgement. Does she care about any of this?? bluhare: I read that because the book that she is suing over contained contracts and emails related to TLC, she was able to get them onboard with her lawsuit and they are essentially footing the bill. I don’t know how true that is but it makes sense to me because there was a lot of sensitive information from TLC on her computer so they want to cover their asses more than help Kate out, I’m guessing!?

Jon has constantly tried to thwart Kate’s income. He and his girlfriend Ellen tried to organize a boycott against her show using the hate blogs. Jon was the source of a lie that he had 50% visitation on the same hate blog, Realitytvkids. He sold the story about the two children that had to be schooled at home a few months because they were having trouble in school. He used his kids as bargaining chips when he wanted to get out of his contract with TLC. Jon worked with Robert Hoffman to try to destroy anything good about Kate. If she doesn’t sue him now, he will continue on until their children turn 18. This is the only way she can live her life with harassment from Jon and Robert. They don’t care if what they are doing affects the lives of the children or their financial security.
Jon says he’s living a private life, but for the last two years he has given lots of public interviews.
Public interviews?? I haven’t seen one. And he’s not publishing books with his kids on the cover. Sorry, but give me a break. This woman is a self-absorbed nightmare, and no bad mouthing of Jon is going to fix that. She should work on herself and her issues and move on. Her fame is gone, and she never deserved it in the first place.

Jon has his faults but through all this he has done what he thought was right for his KIDS, including quitting the show because they didn’t want to do it (no matter what Kate says, Kate is the one who loved the show and only Kate), including adopting a more private lifestyle so he could focus on raising his kids away from cameras. What has Kate done out of concern for her kids? She seems to do anything that will put her surgically altered being on tv, because all she wants is money and fame and she uses the kids every step of the way.

You’re 100% right about the cookbook. It WAS done before, by her previous publisher. It was scheduled to come out in 2009 but was delayed because of all the bad press at the time. The publisher went ahead with a different title by Kate (“I Just Want You to Know”) in 2010, which tanked big time, and the cookbook was cancelled. This “new” cookbook has been issued with the same name and is purportedly not very different from the old version, except that it is now loaded with old and new pictures of the children. It’s child exploitation at its finest. I have to hand it to Kate, she IS the undisputed master of this particular career choice.
Kate is suing Jon because it is the only chance she has to keep her name in the press. If she doesn’t have publicity, she will wither and die. Or even worse – have to get a real job and live like (shudder) a normal “ordinary” person. Now how can we, as a caring world, want that for this clearly extraordinary woman? How would she make it forced to live like the chattel? Have we no decency? She got knocked up with all those babies FOR US! Now we try to push her away from the warm, healing glow of the camera? I can’t stand her, but I think he is a jerk and scum for stealing all of her stuff and giving it to a hack to destroy her. She is the mother of their kids and pays for the children. She hasn’t taken child support from him for a long time. No matter what, she is their mother, and to go in cahoots with that hack writer providing him all this stuff was indefensible. He had no regard for his children in this instance.
I think both are despicable but I would argue the point that “she pays for the children”. The CHILDREN pay for the children. Since their birth Kate has done nothing to earn income beyond shoving her children in front of a camera or sharing their stories in print. I guess you could count DWTS as a non-pimp activity but she never would have scored that gig if we hadn’t known her for her role of Mother Gosselin.
Well stated. I would also argue that the children pay to support Kate and her vain little habits, too. I’m so sick of hearing her rag about how short on cash she is….all while getting countless surgeries done. While strutting around in designer clothes and recent haircuts. I’m not even short on cash (having a real job and no family to support from any abnnormally large, hormonally-enhanced pregnancies)and I probably don’t spend a fraction of the $$$ she shells out. $$$ she makes from shoving her kids in front of any cameraman willing to pay her.
Kate’s never done anything spectacular–biology did the vast majority of the work involved in getting her famous. She really thinks she should be a high-roller for taking fertility pills and having an abnormally large pregnancy? Come down to eart, lady, get a real job, stop exploiting your poor kids, and learn to live within your means like everyone else.
I think the hard drives were actually his – he backed up their computer at one point. There are also rules about garbage being set out on the street being kind of free game – not sure how it applies in their specific state though.

Hopefully she’s done with getting $2000 haircuts and all the shopping and excesses, and put the children’s money in a trust for them. What do you mean he has a job but the money is for him? Because she lives with the kids, he is probably paying child support for 8 children!! Not to mention alimony, which would be high. I am sure his monthly contribution is outrageous.

According to the motion to dismiss filed by Jon’s attorney, Jon had made a back up disc of Kate’s computer files for her – just as he had been doing for both of them throughout their marriage. He left it behind when he moved out and Kate threw everything that she thought was his, including that disk, into the garbage – where a tabloid reporter digging for information found it. Jon didn’t “steal” anything and he didn’t give it to anyone, either.
Jon was still complicit in the act.

Yeah, that’s a weird claim. (Given how nasty she was to everyone on camera, it wouldn’t surprise me if she actually used the punishments mentioned, but why would anybody keep “detailed” notes about that if they were the person issues said punishments?)

She actually did go to PMK for advice. She wrote to her several times and called PMK her inspiration and wanted her to mentor her etc. PMK wasn’t interested since Kate’s star was waning by this point. But goes to show her priorities, right? Bet she can’t wait for the older twins to get to 18, so she can try to get one of them to do a sex tape that gets “leaked”.
It’s unknown why Jon went public?? Of course it is known. The man is being sued, he is trying to prove just how impoverished he is. if the case comes out in Kate’s favor, he’ll fall back on those images and say he could not possibly afford to pay her any sort of financial settlement, he’s just a poor broke waiter.

When their show was such a big deal, my mother believed this woman took care of her litter of kids with no outside help. I read that they actually had lots of help behind the scenes. I never believed their so-called reality, then or now.
I don’t know if Jon did anything wrong here. The author said he got them from Kate’s trash (the zip drives) and the kids supposedly said they had a clean up day when Jon left and threw a lot of things away.
There is no proof Jon did anything yet. If she can show he did something, then I’ll scold him.

I don’t know whether Jon could dance better than she did (actually, she never really tried) but one thing is for sure – he would be much, much nicer to everyone on the show than she was. We all saw how she treated Tony – apparently she was just as nasty to the wardrobe and makeup people.

Isn’t it contradictory for her to sue her ex-husband for stealing her personal information then say that she’s lost employment opportunities to the “rumor mill”? If everything published was false, why wouldn’t she sue for libel instead? But if everything published was true, then how could she have lost employment opportunities to rumors?
I understand that he invaded her privacy, but that’s a different matter altogether. Her lawyers had the book removed not because it contained false information, but because it contained information that was unrightfully procured.
Btw, this woman totally reminds me of my mother-in-law. Funnily enough, when I mentioned this show in her presence, she said she didn’t like it because she thought Kate Gosselin was a witch. …Guess you can only see evil in others.
It was actually pulled because some proprietary information on a TLC contract was published. So TLC got Amazon to pull it on copyright issues. Had nothing to do with libel.

Kate has never said that the allegations in the book are untrue, just that they are an invasion of her privacy – so she’s tacitly admitting that all the horrible things written about her are true. BTW, does anyone else find it ironic that a woman who became famous only because she put her personal and private life (and that of her kids) on TV for the whole world to see is suddenly screaming invasion of privacy?
