What’s worse, Hailee Steinfeld’s Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2014 dress or whatever is happening with Taylor Swift’s bangs? It’s sort of a toss-up for me. I came into this post thinking that Swifty’s bangs would be the hands-down winner for fugness, but Hailee’s dress distracted me. These are pics from last night’s LA premiere of Romeo & Juliet – Hailee plays Juliet, and Swifty did some of the music for the soundtrack. Sidenote: Damian Lewis is in this movie! He plays Lord Capulet. Paul Giamatti plays Friar Laurence.
Anyway, as for the fashion… I think Hailee is an incredibly pretty young woman and I appreciate that, for the most part, she stays pretty age-appropriate. My issue with this Prabal Gurung dress is not that it’s too mature or unsuitable for Hailee. My issue is merely that the dress is hideous. It makes Taylor Swift’s Reem Acra dress look refreshingly cute when in reality, the Reem Acra looks like something Swifty’s grandmother would choose for her. Which makes sense, because Taylor Swift has the reincarnated soul of a 92-year-old cat-loving great-grandmother.
So, let’s talk about Swifty’s bangs. I get that some of you like some bangs sometimes, and many of you yell at me when I complain about bangs and bangs trauma. But seriously, THIS is what I’m talking about when I say “bangs trauma”. I had grown to expect Taylor’s too-thick, too-immature bangs and now she’s trying to fuss with them or possibly grow them out, and so she decided to try to push them off to the side? It’s like a bangs-combover. Worst thing ever.

Cs, consign all. That one loose wisp hanging down on her forehead. It’s killing me! I really want to tuck it in with the rest of the bangs. Actually the bangs wouldn’t be half bad if they were softer. They look shellacked to her head.

Every couple of years or so, someone comes along trying to make the “botched bangs” look happen. And it never works. Ever.
Remember when our gorgeous Charlize was rocking the short cut with the extra-short butchered bangs back in the day? If Charlize couldn’t pull it off, then no one can.
Yeah the bangs are bad. Her hair always looks fake – Not fake like extensions but fake like it’s doll hair: the hair style and color you would see on a doll. She reminds me of times I cut my doll’s hair and the doll would end up with awful chopped up bangs.
Ouch those bangs! They’re hideous, but I don’t think she’s growing them out, though she might want to now – that looks like a pretty fresh trim.
Taylor’s bangs are worse. Hands down.

She doesn’t have the eyebrows/forehead for hat kind of look. She either needs much longer ‘sidebangs’ or just keep them straight across.
I like her hair from a distance but the bangs are too choppy for this to work. I think she needs to give it up and grow them out, especially now that her tour is coming to a close and she doesnt have to worry about them being too long and getting in the way. But hey, at least she is honest about having the soul of a 90 year old!
I actually like Hailees dress, I think its fun and shes working the hell out of it.

They’re not besties. They both have other friends their own age. In fact, Taylor’s close friends are all older than her – Ashley Avignone, Claire Kislinger, Caitlin Evanson.

Taylor has already stated her BFF’s in the industry are Selena Gomez and Emma Stone… The rest are her girlfriends she grew up with. She’s probably just friends with Hailie, just like GOOP who happens to be 17 years older.
When I was in my early 20’s I would go shopping,out to lunch, movies with my younger girl cousins who were in HS. We would have a great time. Was I talking to them about my job and Man issues? No! That was reserved for the friends that were around my age.

Yeah I saw pictures of them hanging out once and I found that so strange. I’m only a year older than Taylor and I have nothing in common with a 16 year old. But this is swifty we’re talking about, she is basically that age mentally anyway
Hailee strikes me as mature. I know when I was seventeen I hung out a lot with my cousin’s girlfriends who were in their early/mid-twenties. We had a lot in common and had a great time. The relationships weren’t BFF-y, they were more sisterly.
The bangs are worse, I love you Taylor but no, matter of fact, I’m not really feeling her entire look. Worst she’s looked on the red carpet in a LONG time.
I actually quite like Hailee’s dress, I think it is very interesting, and I applaud her for taking a risk.
And while Taylor’s bangs aren’t great, I don’t think they are the worst I’ve ever seen, either.
Hailee’s dress is great! Maybe on her it should have been above the knee, but still worlds better than Swifty Bangs and the Easter Dress.
I don’t get why they needed to make another Romeo and Juliet movie if it’s not bringing something new to the table.
If we want the original that is still word for word, plus all the traditional wardrobe and setting, we can watch the 1968 version. If we want something fresh and unique there is the 1996 version.
What is new about this one? What will it do that we haven’t seen before?
This is pretty much why I don’t think I’ll waste my money seeing this one, I love me some Douglas Booth but this one doesn’t stand out from the others to me.
While the ’68 version will probably always be my favourite, this version is bringing some of my favourite Brit hotties to the table: Douglas Booth, Christian Cooke and Ed Westwick (i’m sorry, but yes, I said it). They are the three reasons I will watch it (online).

Actually, the 1968 Franco Z version is far from being the “original” film version, and it cut out many of the scenes/dialogue.
I think the ’96 version was excellent! Creative, imaginative, and much better acted than the ’68 version. I can’t see any new version topping it for originality. It was definitely fresh.
This new film feels a lot like the ’68. It will be just another version with newer pretty faces. Like every time a new stage production is mounted–same old thing, new faces.
I grew up with the ’96 version. That is my R&J. I doubt this one could live up to that one so I prob won’t bother seeing it. Plus it seems geared toward a younger audience?

Growing out bangs is the worst. I’ve had bangs all my life and I’ve given up on growing them out, I just trim them myself.
WTF, am I the only one seeing how high Taylor’s left eyebrow is compared to the right one? Paired with those awful bangs. I thought it was the bangs at first throwing her whole face off, but the bangs with the eyebrows are making her look wonky.

I disagree – I think Swifty looks half human here, from the front view at least. She usually looks very alien to me, down to the too much eyemakeup and her tilted eyes.

Although it could fit better in the bust region, I actually really like Hailee’s dress. But yeah, Taylor’s bangs situation is tragic. Would have been great hair if it weren’t for that.
