Julianne Moore & Chloe Grace Moretz at the ‘Carrie’ premiere: who looked better?

wenn20745332

You guys, Julianne Moore is 52 years old. That’s 52 years of being a beautiful, fabulous bitch. I believe Julianne is aging naturally – she’s a pale redhead who takes care of her skin and stays out of the sun. Compare Julianne to Nicole Kidman at the age of 46 – who would you think is older? Who looks more natural? Who looks like a Botox Monster? Yeah. Julianne always wins.

Anyway, these are photos of Julianne and Chloe Moretz (am I supposed to call her Chloe Grace Moretz?) at last night’s premiere of the Carrie remake. Chloe plays Carrie, Julianne plays the crazy mother. It’s sad to me that Julianne takes these kinds of roles, but she seems to enjoy filling out her resume with these supporting parts in bigger, more commercial movies and such. And so now a new generation will get to experience the horror of Carrie when really… there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the first movie. Sissy Spacek as Carrie is wonderful and terrifying.

Julianne’s white gown is Givenchy. Design-wise, this dress is nothing special, but Julianne does look good in it. Chloe is wearing Valentino – I think it’s a bit fussy for someone so young, but I’m glad Chloe isn’t wandering the red carpet in a minidress and four-inch Louboutins.

Would you like the Carrie trailer? Enjoy.

they both look great I’m a huge fan of both, they are generations apart so you cant compare the style.

    • lisa says:

ita and i love them both

i love the idea that they are friendly and might occasionally split a cupcake or something

  2. Ellie66 says:

Julianne is beautiful she looks amazing! She will always be “Amber Waves” from Boogie Nights to me (fave movie).

    • Launicaangelina says:

Boogie Nights is one of those movies that if I come across it on TV, I’ll stop flipping channels and what I’m doing and just watch. I don’t care what part of the movie it’s on, I’ll watch until the end.

      • mercy says:

Same. So many great performances in that film (I have to remind myself of it when I think I don’t like Mark Wahlberg. 😉 )

      • Louminary says:

        Definitely, that movie is amazing!
Burt Reynolds, Will H Macy, Mark Wahlberg, Julianne, Heather Graham, Phil Seymour Hoffman, John C Reilly, et al, all give just brilliant performances!!

(Although sometimes I stop watching at New Years 1980…..just cause….)

  3. Yelly says:

After seeing Don Jon I can never look at Julianne Moore the same way again.

    • Belle Epoch says:

Didn’t see the movie and don’t plan to! What was her role? She does not shy away from creepiness – like The Master or whatever it was–

  4. Patricia says:

Both of these dresses have me saying “meh”, but both ladies look amazing from the neck up. Chloe is beautiful but if her makeup is too heavy handed she looks odd. She got it just right here.

  5. AlmondJoy says:

It’s hard for me to answer the “who looked better” question when I’m comparing a teen and a grown woman. They’re in two completely different categories… Julianne looks gorgeous!! Chloe is adorable but I’m not a fan of the dress. Maybe they should switch!

    • Bert29 says:

I agree @almondjoy. I get the premise, but the question makes me feel skeezy.

    • Bert29 says:

I agree almondjoy. I get the premise, but the question makes me feel skeezy.

    • magpie says:

I agree, it doesn’t have to be competition. They both look great but are in completely different stages of life and career.

  6. Rhea says:

Both face looks fabulous. But I’d say Chloe have the glow of youth. Not feeling it with Chloe’s dress so don’t really care but the white dress would look so much better if Moore using a punch of colour perhaps a green giant ring, gold bracelet chunk or whatever.

  7. neelyo says:

    Julianne Moore looks stunning.

I haven’t seen Moretz in anything besides on the red carpet but she bugs me. I also think she’s miscast in this film.

    • mayamae says:

It may be hard for you to judge not having seen her act. She’s played horror well in the past.

  8. pao la says:

Julianne is flawless. If i could look like someone famous it would be her. I’d swap my 34 years for her 52. Such a classy and beautiful woman.

  9. blue marie says:

Julianne looks beautiful. Has she always been so tiny and I just never noticed? People make fun of me for being so wrapped up/sunblocked when I got into the sun but I do it so my skin will look this lovely when I get older.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Moore is such a stunning woman, but she’s had work, just tastefully-done injections. We’re so conditioned to think that facial work=freak of nature that we forget that in moderation, fillers can barely be detected.

She looks so gorgeous in that dress-it is perfection on her.

      • mercy says:

I think they all do at this point. Occupational hazard. I even noticed Cate Blanchett looking a little tweaked. Whatever Julianne is doing, she looks amazing. Fair skin aside, she was probably always going to age well. Strong features and bone structure. Nicole had very delicate features.

      • ctkat1 says:

I think the trick is to use fillers, etc. to make yourself look like a really fabulous version of your 50-something self, rather than trying to freeze time. Julianne Moore, Sandra Bullock and Michelle Pfeiffer, to name a few, aren’t trying to pass for 35, and so they don’t look grotesque, they just look refreshed and lovely.

Nicole Kidman, with the frozen face and puffed up lip, looks like a mask. If she would allow herself a few wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead, and stop injecting her lips, she would look so much better.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Agree with both of you, minus Bullock. For a while there, Sandy looked incredible but the past couple years she’s been a bit heavy-handed with the ‘tox.

      • ctkat1 says:

Sandra B. looked a little pinched during the “Gravity” promotion, didn’t she? She needs to ease back on it, because for a while she was looking freakishly good!

Michelle Pfeiffer amazes me at 55, and of course Julianne Moore is setting the gold standard. I saw “Don Jon” and she was so lovely, with minimal makeup and hair styling.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

For me, Pfeiffer is the embodiment of aging gracefully.

I honestly think Moore looks BETTER now that she did in her Benny & Joon Days 20 years ago.

      • Belle Epoch says:

Agree Julianne is doing something, including Botox, but she’s smart enough to know that her face needs to work! She can show a wide range of emotions with that beautiful face – unlike Nicole the Barbie Doll.

BTW I met her before she was famous! She was gorgeous and down to earth.

  10. serena says:

I think it’ll be good. And it’s a good role for Julianne, I mean I think playing crazy would be really so much fun rather than the loving boring mother (moviewise obliviously LOL).

  11. Cleveland Girl says:

Julianne looks beautiful – but “aging naturally” is downright laughable!! She for sure has had work done – face lift, eyes, chemicals peels – and that is just the tip of the iceberg. She looks fantastic!!!

    • T.C. says:

Exactly. Why pick on Nicole Kidman when every other actress her age has had work done. Yes Julianne Moore had work done.

Back on top both ladies look good. Chloe for once looks her age without going for the sexy pout.

  12. brin says:

It seems like this movie took forever to premiere.

  13. SBJ says:

@Cleveland I don’t agree with you. I am a natural red head with very white skin, like her and I have no wrinkles having anything done.

I don’t go out on a sunny day, except with a high protection, or my skin becomes red, don’t smoke, drink 4l water a day and don’t even put expensive cream but, at 40, no wrinkles.

    • Tulip says:

You’ve definitely aged well then, but the woman in question is 52. I’ll allow that the bright lighting from the cameras are helping her, but even then I think she had a tiny bit of help-and that is okay too.

    • blueanemone says:

I am a natural redhead, 53 years old. I have almost non existent lines around my eyes, and that’s it. I have avoided the sun like the plague, I can boast of wrinkle free skin. No one believes my age…if you take care of your skin, it will show. I don’t use expensive creams, only pure coconut oil and never had any work done. It is possible to look good without surgery or botox.

    • Cleveland Girl says:

Good for you!! I’m jealous! :)))

    • Maggie says:

I’m a rehead too. I love outdoor sports but am very cautious with the sun. Always wear sunblock and try to stay out of the sun between 11 and three. I do occasionally tan. I hate the really white pasty look. No wrinkles!

  14. Kiddo says:

They both look good, my only objection is the remake of the movie.

    • T.fanty says:

I was just coming on here to register my protest against this completely unnecessary remake.

      • Migdalia says:

        Protest x10000000

Someone tried to argue that the original was dated and this remake is necessary. The only thing outdated about the last movie is the music, the clothes and the camera it was shot on however the bullying theme is soooo much worse and still relevant now, there are and will always be radical religious families that treat their children in such a way, etc. I’m too much of a horror fan to ignore this unfortunately but this will be a matinee. I even made myself sit thought the monstrosity that was Rob Zombie’s Halloweens.

    • T.C. says:

I love the original Carrie. Will not see the remake.

    • mari says:

      +1

Judging by the trailer, the re-make looks boringly cutesy. The original was/is really good (and scary imo).

And both ladies here look lovely.

  15. lucy2 says:

They both look great. Julianne is so beautiful, and such a great actress.

I was surprised she took this role too (and don’t think a remake was needed) but I think she probably does stuff like this for a decent paycheck so she can do little indie movies.

    • ctkat1 says:

She probably got a few million for this, right? And probably a few million for the last two Hunger Games films…

Her last few movies (Don Jon, The English Teacher, What Maisie Knew, and Being Flynn) probably paid scale or close to it.

Something’s gotta pay for the NY townhouse, private school, etc!

      • mayamae says:

What character is Julianne playing in the 2 Hunger Games films? I can’t think of any characters past their 30’s – other than possibly Katniss’ mom.

      • ctkat1 says:

She’s Alma Coin, the President of District 13. It should be a pretty good role.

  16. Dawn says:

I wish they would not have remade this movie, I think the original was perfection.

  17. bns says:

    This remake is a mistake.

  18. break says:

What terrible miscasting! Carrie is supposed to be “ugly”, or at least strange looking. CGM is the definition of “traditionally pretty”.

  19. minime says:

I don’t know if the remake is good, but as other already stated it was completely unnecessary given the quality of the original.

Now let’s talk about the fact that Julianne Moore is 52 and gorgeous!!!Wow that woman is really beautiful, natural looking (even if she had work done, I can’t really see it) and very talented. One that never had to play the media game.

  20. Green Eyes says:

Both look amazing, but in the second from the bottom looks like Chloe is slouching a bit. But love how they get along aw well:). Yes Nicole Kidman needs to take a page out if Julianne’s playbook… Her face looks so more natural & exquisite. Say no to the Botox & fillers Nicole.

  21. Alice says:

Why does one have to look better than the other?
(what’s the point of comparing people all the time, most of all when they’re so different from each other like here)

  22. Stubbylove says:

Both are gorgeous and like them both as actresses. I just think it’s idiotic they made another Carrie remake.

  23. phlyfiremama says:

If you don’t think Julianne has botox going on…you are absolutely fooling yourself. It is subtle, and well done, but it is there. The first Carrie was awesome (Carrie White Burns in He!!) so I son’t know if this is a theater movie as much as a DVD rental later. No new ground being broken, except for the addition of the cell phones in the locker room.

  24. mercy says:

They both look great. I’m not down with this remake, though. I didn’t think the original movie was that great, but Sissy Spacek…that’s a performance that’s not going to be duplicated or bettered. She was perfect.

I hope Chloe’s mother is doing well. She asked for prayers for her recently. I didn’t realise her mither had a bout with cancer when Chloe was just 10 years old. She has remarkable poise for such a young person.

  25. Sisi says:

I don’t hold it against Julianne that she was interested in the complete wackadoodle that is Carrie’s mother. Channeling a little Piper Laurie sound like a fun thing to.

  26. apsutter says:

Julianne is a freaking goddess! Such a smart lady and a great actress, I really admire her. I intern at a local playhouse and the kids theater is doing “Freckleface Strawberry” which is a musical adapted from one of her children’s books and it is adorable!

  27. Mandy says:

Julienne looks incredible! I didn’t realize she was 52. That is crazy! And yeah, she beats the hell outta Nicole. I’m looking forward to this Carrie remake. I’m a big fan of the original. I haven’t been impressed with the other two remakes. I have a feeling this one will be much better.

  28. bettyrose says:

I don’t get why this movie had to be remade but I’ll see it just for Moore. Also I’m so excited about her as Pres. Coin.

  29. Lucy says:

Julianne looks fantastic! And I know Chloe’s mother has been dealing with some health issues lately. I hope she’s okay!

  30. Jay says:

What’s wrong with a minidress and four inch heels? That’s practically my uniform.
