Prince Harry tried speaking Arabic at a Sentebale fundraiser in Dubai: sweet?

Prince Harry has already left Australia! So sad for the Aussies. Apparently, Harry got a rock-star reception and everybody loves the ginger prince. Well done, Harry. Anyway, these are some pics from Australia that I didn’t get to use yesterday. I love when Harry wears his white dress uniform.

Before he went back to England, Harry stopped by Dubai for a fundraiser for Sentebale, the charity he began years ago to fund HIV/AIDS programs in Lesotho. The event last night was actually an auction fundraiser, and the Dubai elite got to bid on “rare Islamic gold and silver coins and a polo weekend.” The fundraiser made more than £624,000 Sentebale! Which is really nice. But the best part was when Harry spoke at the event, and he tried his hand at Arabic for the (likely overwhelmingly Arabic-speaking) crowd. Skip ahead to the 1-minute mark to hear Harry speak, and at the 1:24 mark he begins to speak Arabic. Arabic spoken with an English accent is pretty hot.

Here’s a clip of just the Arabic:

That’s nice, right? I like it when royalty makes an effort to speak the language of their hosts, and considering his eyes never left the page, I’m assuming he probably had a phonetic pronunciation spelled out on his pages. Shokran!

As for the stories about Harry wanting to propose to Cressida Bonas… apparently, Harry did get some questions from the assembled media in Dubai, but he “laughed them off”.

How can you not adore him?

I always thought Harry looked more like Diana but in this pictures all i can see is Charles! He’s way hotter than his father though 🙂

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Indeed, I used to subscribe to the theory that Charles was not his daddy, but all I see his Charles!

    • LAK says:

The Spencer genes were very strong in him, but now the Mountbatten genes have asserted themselves, with a dash of Windsor.

I think he is a mixture of Charles and Philip, and depending on the angle can look like one or the other. http://i.imgur.com/HQE6sRx.jpg

I love Harry. He takes his job seriously. Shows up to his charity events with a happy face and enjoys his time with his host. He also signed up for the military and did time in Afghanistan. Compare that to Wills and Kate who try to get out of everything and consider an hour fundraiser to be hard work.

    • Liberty says:

@T.C. All this. And he actually seems to care much of the time, unlike the stiff William.

      • LAK says:

To compound it all, his efforts are under the umbrella of the new Royal Foundation of WHK which means when the foundation makes a statement that pats itself on the back for efforts made, WK will also receive a pat on the back as though they are working as much as Harry.

  4. Luls says:

Lol, his ‘Arabic’ was a disaster. I’m a native speaker and couldn’t make out a single word. (Other than shokran). But he gets an A for effort 😉

  5. LAK says:

He looks so good in that tropical dress uniform. He should always wear it. occasion be damned!!!

  6. blue marie says:

For some odd reason I can’t hear him, doesn’t matter would still hit it. I don’t care if that was in question, I stand by my statement. So hot in uniform.

  7. Reece says:

Oh that was terrible Arabic. haha But ‘A’ for effort!

It is encouraging to see a p*t smoking, booze soaked, Nazi uniform wearing party prince evolve into a patriotic, empathetic, utterly charming young royal who takes his duties seriously and is a true credit to his grandmother’s example of hard work. I dont feel the need to slam Will and Kate at every turn but they sure could learn a lot from Harry.
