Last week, photos were published of Tim Burton kissing/canoodling a mystery blonde. Allegedly, Tim was part of a group of people and he and the blonde slipped into a dark alley for a lingering kiss. When presented with the story and the photo evidence, Tim’s long-time partner Helena Bonham Carter reacted by merely calling the report “nonsense” and making it sound like there was absolutely nothing wrong.
Well, I’m still not sure about it. Helena was in the Hamptons a few days ago to promote her BBC movie, Burton and Taylor, at the Hamptons Film Festival. When Helena was asked about the situation, she was rather cryptic:
Helena Bonham Carter says she may never again work with her long-term partner, director Tim Burton. At the Hamptons International Film Festival Carter joked, “He’s getting sick of me,” according to spies.
Some took her words as a hint about the couple’s personal relationship. Carter shot down recent reports that Burton cheated after he was pictured smooching a mystery blonde, calling the story “nonsense.”
She and Burton were together holding hands in London last week for a concert of music from his “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” But Carter was solo in the Hamptons to unveil her new BBC movie “Burton and Taylor.” (Not to be confused with Lindsay Lohan’s dud on the same subjects, “Liz & Dick.”)
“Another Burton . . . I’m surrounded!” Carter joked at a Sag Harbor Q&A on Saturday.
On whether the busy actress will work again with the father of her children — who directed her in “Dark Shadows,” “Big Fish,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Alice in Wonderland” — Carter quipped, “I’m not sure . . . I think he must be getting sick of me.”
Our spy added, “Carter said, ‘It was nice to work with him when we were first involved.’ But that ‘Sweeney Todd’ was ‘a disaster’ because they were on each other’s nerves. She said, ‘Who knows? Maybe we’ll never work together again.’ ”
Does it sound like all is well in the HBC-Burton household? I have my doubts. Now, to play devil’s advocate on myself, I will say that Helena does tend to speak this way all the time – she loves to toss out cryptic, sometimes shocking things and just let them linger. It could be that Tim and Helena are fine and she’s just amusing herself. Or it could be that they’re having problems and Helena is figuring some stuff out.
PS… DOES SHE HAVE DREADLOCKS?!

Aside from being a husband and wife, they work together in a lot of project. I kinda see why they would be tired with each other when you are spending a lot of time together at home AND at work with your partner. Often times it’s hard to separate the problem at home and at your work place.
I still hope they could work it out. I like them as a couple.
At some point I read they have separate residences or living areas connected by “a long corridor”. That sounds like something o would like if I were married.
They bought two adjoining houses and knocked down the dividing walls, so technically they just live in the one house but I guess the lay-out makes it feel like they each have their own house. Always sounded pretty ideal to me.

If you look closely, you’ll see they are just hair twists. All the hair is twisted in one direction, dreadlocks are created by twisting in both directions.
While I kind of like them together, I think she’s too good for him. She’s a lot of the reason why I like most of Burton’s films.

He was in a relationship when he started up with HBC, so maybe this is not that much of a surprise.
Saw some promo pics the other day for her portrayal of Liz, and she looks stunning. Really beautiful. So sad to hear her say ‘I think he must be getting sick of me’. Might be in jest but given the photos from last week, I doubt it. 🙁
I thought the previews for the Liz film looked dreadful… typically I like her performances and find her interviews entertaining… :/

If Sweeney Todd was a ‘disaster’, why did they work together on at least two new films (Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows)? This ‘source’ isn’t exactly credible, I’d say.
She is awesome, he is an idiot. She was so good in the Liz Taylor/Richard Burton biopic- total camp fest (BBC, might be shown in America at some point), I just love her. She can do better, he is a one trick pony as far as filmmaking goes.
I love her and wish she would stop working him. I’d love to see her spread her wings a bit more and really stretch as an actor

Well Johnny Depp is in the throes of his midlife crisis fuelled fling with a little blonde piece, why wouldn’t Burton follow suit? They do everything else together, I’m actually just a little surprised they didn’t run off with each other.
Maybe they have some alternative arrangement in regards to monogamy (they’re alternative in everything else) but HBC is definitely the higher caliber professional/personality in that arrangement and Burton would be a moron to screw that up.

Yes. HBC & Emma were friends when HBC jumped on Branagh. Emma was devastated.
Tim was in a 9 years long relationship with Lisa Marie when HBC jumped in to grab Tim & broke up that one too. Another woman blindsided. She appears to prefer men who are already “taken.” Is that more exciting than finding a bachelor?
She’s a talented actress but I don’t admire her in other ways.
I can’t imagine why anyone would hop on either Branagh or Burton…both those guys are amazingly successful (ding! ding! ding! we have our answer), but both of them give me the creeps. I guess she is less easily creeped out than I.
