Josh Hutcherson: ‘Getting broken up with is worse than breaking up with somebody’

Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson covers the November issue of Seventeen Magazine to promote Catching Fire. At this point, many of us here have figured out that Josh is a total sweetheart. Is it no surprise that Seventeen has featured him as cover boy in lieu of, say, Liam Hemsworth? Or for that matter, Jennifer Lawrence? I dig the Hutch a lot, but I would find it much more interesting if Seventeen featured a strong female role model who can kick ass instead of the more desirable male member of the Hunger Games love triangle.

Mind you, I come from an era where Milla Jovovich was the height of sophistication as far as Seventeen covers go. Yes, I am a little bit out of touch. In this interview, Josh talks about his romantic ways and alludes to Jennifer Lawrence’s cheeseburger” fart jokes.” He really does think he’s funnier than JLaw. We shall see:

Josh Hutcherson

Is he funnier than Jennifer Lawrence? “We have this debate all the time–I think it’s me! This sounds mean, but its true, and Jennifer would agree. Her thing is being shocking, goofy, and silly–which is amazing, and it takes a talented person to do that. I like to be more clever and witty. But if you had to go on who gets more laughs, I’d say she’d be the winner.”

On breaking up vs. being dumped: “I think getting broken up with is worse than breaking up with somebody…For me it hurts more when you’re ready for something to keep going and the other person isn’t.”

Has he dated with the wrong intentions? Definitely. I was blind at first by looks, by love, whatever. I’ve been known to fall hard and quick for girls, which I think is better than not falling at all.

[From Seventeen]

I agree with Josh on the topic of breaking up. It’s far more difficult to be the dumpee than the dumper. I’ve been on both sides of the equation, and it’s easy to rationalize how hard it is to break up with someone, but that’s a lie. Getting dumped breeds far more insecurities than dumping could ever hope to accomplish.

Oh! There’s a new a new Catching Fire tv spot featuring Katniss and Peeta. Check it out.

Here are some cute photos of Josh last month with basketball player Jason Collins. Seriously Clippers, call this guy.

Poor dear, this guy should never ever stand next to tall people. Including his costars.

DanRad got lucky that both Rupert Grint and Ems turned out fairly petite too.

    • Liv says:

Don’t know why people make such a fuss about his height. I appreciate that he’s not afraid to stand next to taller people. I’m sure there are tons of girls who want to date him. Really no big deal.

      • Simmie says:

Exactly. He seems not to stress about the height thing, and is just confident and happy with who he is, which just makes him more charming. I admit I usually fancy tall men, but Josh could get it.

    • blue marie says:

you know though, I’m normally attracted to tall guys but I think I would give him a pass. He seems like a good time.

  2. Mrs. Peacock says:

    Duuuuhhhhhh

    • Dani2 says:

Haha that’s what I thought, has there ever been a general idea that it is worse to be the dumper?

      • loveisthecoal says:

I know I’m in the minority but I actually think it’s worse to be the dumper. It makes me feel like a horrible human being, even if I know it’s the right thing to do. I would much rather be dumped. Yes, I’m a weirdo!

      • Andrew says:

@love. I kinda disagree…mainly because I just got dumped the other day lol

      • Emily C. says:

I always felt worse about being the dumper. And every guy who’s dumped me has tried to get back together at some point, so it’s apparently super common to regret having dumped someone.

  3. mzizkrizten says:

His breakup statement is a big ol DUH. Of course it hurts more to get dumped than to do the dumping. This is no revelation LOL

  4. Maria says:

wow, thats some deep philosophy he has got there.

  5. Nicole says:

IF a guy is short and owns it, that’s waaay hotter than pretending to be tall. Good for him. What a cool guy.

  6. ldub says:

    I bet he has a huge d*ck.

    • Emily C. says:

The shortest guy I ever dated was also by far the best in the sack. So I married him. Women who only date tall guys are missing out.

    • I Choose Me says:

It’s not huge but it looks just the right size to me. (to clarify, I saw a pic on the Internet) If that is indeed his and not a fake pic.

  7. MisJes says:

I think he’s very handsome, and he has a jaw-line to DIE for.

But I wish he’d shave already! He looks so much better clean shaven, like in the last picture there with Jennifer.

    • Athena says:

@MisJes: I agree..Josh Hutcherson does look better clean shaven.

I love that photo of he and Jennifer Lawrence!. I think they are adorable together…it’s obvious that they are very good friends. I can’t wait for the film!!.

      • MisJes says:

@Athena, I really enjoy their interviews together, they do seem genuinely fond of each other. And I can’t wait for the film either, it looks amazing!

  8. marina says:

I think it’s cute he did Seventeen. Some stars would act like they are too cool to do such a cheesy magazine. I think he’s adorable and talented.

  9. chops 116 says:

I’ve passed on men who had the most AWESOME personalities (as anything more than friends!!) cos of their height… I’m only five three but need a man at least six feet tall… to each his own I guess

    • Spooks says:

I’m 5’8 and would date a man shorter than I am if he had a great personality. yeah, to each their own.

      • MisJes says:

Agreed, Spooks, I just couldn’t hold someone’s height against them. IMO, it’s quite shallow and unfair.

    • Emily C. says:

More not-tall guys for everyone else then.

I’d hate to be a tall guy whom a woman was dating just because I was tall. “I like the personality of your 5’7 friend way better, but you can reach the top shelf at supermarkets, so you’re the one I want!”

  10. Anna says:

He is beautiful. I would hit it in a heartbeat!

  11. Sway says:

    Thank you, Captain Obvious.

  12. Scooter says:

Zomg, I’m in love. Someone get me his number! What a cutie.
