I do get the feeling that Kris Jenner stage-managed a large chunk of Kanye West’s “romantic” proposal to Kim in SanFran. But until I get verification on that stage-managing, I guess we’ll have to wait. As for these photos, you can’t see Kim’s new ring, but it does look like Kim knew she was going to be photographed. These photos are like the paparazzi version of an engagement portrait. For real. Meanwhile, Radar is asking the hard questions about the proposal, as in: did Kim pick out her own ring? Did she know Kanye was going to propose? Is this all a conspiracy?!
Surprised? Hardly. Kim Kardashian picked out her spectacular 15 carat diamond engagement ring herself — because she knew her baby daddy Kanye West was going to propose, RadarOnline.com has learned.
“Kim had picked out her own Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring,” a source close to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has revealed.
The reality beauty “told Kanye to get the ring from Lorraine Schwartz because she loves the jeweler’s diamonds. She knew the proposal was happening, she just didn’t know when it would happen.”
Kim’s second husband, basketball player Kris Humphries, paid between $200,000-$300,000 for the massive Lorraine Schwartz 16.2 carat diamond ring he gave her for their 2011 engagement.
Because of the publicity value, Humphries got a huge discount as the ring was estimated to be worth $2 million. But the couple’s marriage collapsed after only 72 days and Humphries recently sold the ring at auction for $749,000.
With jeweler Schwartz, the source said, “Kanye got a significant deal on the ring just as Kris did because of all the publicity it will get. Before Kim gave the ultimate seal of approval on the sparkler, Kanye looked at over 20 diamonds. The diamond has no flaws and has more sparkle than Kim’s previous ring.”
The ring could be worth at least $3 million, jewelry experts estimate, but according to the source, Kanye paid less than $500,000 — and made sure the ring was bigger than the one Kris gave her!
Although the ring itself wasn’t a surprise to Kim, the Monday proposal on her 33rd birthday was!
The rapper had rented out AT&T Park in San Francisco and had invited a crowd of friends and family to share the engagement joy after they poured out of the baseball dugouts.
The source told Radar Kim has already started planning her third wedding extravaganza and she wants to walk down the aisle after Kanye’s Yeezus tour ends in 2014.
“She may even have this one be more over-the-top than her wedding to Kris, with several possible ceremonies and receptions,” the source said.
And as a loving tribute to their family, the source revealed there will be one little star for the day, their daughter North, who was born in June.
“Kim wants Nori to walk down the aisle as a flower girl.”
Is it weird that I don’t believe most of this? I don’t think Kanye West trusts Kim enough to pick out her own wedding ring. I mean, Yeezus is the preeminent fashion and styling expert in the world. Why would he allow Kim to pick out her own ring or have any kind of say in the proposal? No, he wouldn’t. Kanye would do it all himself. Now, she might not have been surprised by the proposal, but that’s different than having a say in what went down.

She acts like life is one big photo op. I don’t think anything surprises her, she’s only thinking “what can I do to make this moment marketable.” There isn’t a sentimental bone left in her body. Even if she didn’t know what Kanye was up to, she immediately went into famewhore mode and made things perfectly polished and ready for the tabloids.
I wouldn’t be surprised. Kanye is now a part of KKlan, no chance these monsters would let him do anything on his own. (well, maybe apart from doing Riccardo Tisci). I’m pretty sure the whole “engagement surprise” was staged and filmed as well, that’s the reason why Kim looked so vacant in all the pictures.

I read about this on TMZ, who claims there were a number of cameras present for the proposal. Remember, when K.H. proposed, it was all scripted as well…Kim even did a re-take of the proposal scene because she didn’t like how she looked during the first take. Of course this was staged. Kim may not have picked out the ring, but like just about everything else in the Kardashians’ life, this was choreographed (mainly by Kris and Kanye). I think that’s one of the things Kanye likes about this arrangement. He gets to rewrite reality any which way he likes.

I find it kind of odd that they didn’t bring North along for all of this…she’s 4.5 months old and would have been totally fine on the 50 min private flight from LA to SF. Just seems weird to me.

His earlier raps never spoke of things in the way Lil Wayne, TI or even Jay-Z spoke of. It was always about a girl doing him some sort of way.
I think Kim might be one of those girls whose mommy is so invested in her that she has never had to really think or do for herself. I knew girls like this growing up that they were their mother’s favorite child and really lived vicariously through their daughters.So to me its no surprise that she choose (this time anyway) a man that is also pretty controlling. Why think for yourself when you can have others do it for you?
Someone made a comment not that long ago about how Kim and her mom are a great study for psychology students because their messed up dynamic. It made me think about her first marriage that was so secretive that not even her family knew about it. In my opinion that so telling and sounded like Kim just wanted her freedom. I am sure that when it failed it gave the 4th Sister her chance to pounce and make sure Kim never strayed or did anything she didn’t approve of again. I really don’t understand why she tried very hard to be compared to the Duchess and her child during her pregnancy. To be fair, Kims baby isn’t as famous as other celebs babies like Shiloh Jolie-Pitt or Suri Cruise. They got so much attention as babies and still as kids. I am sorry but Kims baby when it gets older still won’t be as famous as Shiloh or Suri. Their parents are real, hard working movie stars. Kim is tabloid trash, and is not a real star.
