Miranda Kerr & Orlando Bloom step out together, Orly says: ‘We’re not friends. We’re family’

Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have been informally separated for months. Makes sense, doesn’t it? They’ve barely spent any time together – much less in the same city – for more than a year. So why is it that fresh off of their separation announcement, Miranda and Orlando stepped out for a pap stroll on Friday with Flynn Kerr-Bloom? Flynn is side-eyeing this whole endeavor. That being said, I guess Orlando and Miranda wanted to make it clear to the world that they are still going to co-parent and this will not get messy. Ah, I love a good dash of optimism. Usually it’s the last thing you remember before you’re strangling your ex-spouse’s divorce lawyer.

When Orlando was stopped by TMZ’s cameras on Friday, he was asked if he and Miranda would remain friends. He said: “We’re not friends. We’re family.” Touching. And after these photos were taken, Orlando kissed both Miranda and Flynn goodbye and headed off to the theater for his evening show of Romeo & Juliet. Yes, as I said – this is the last surge of optimism before it all goes to hell. We’re also in the early stages of the tabloids digging for the REAL dirt behind their split:

Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr’s split has been “coming for a year,” say friends. The pair have spent a lot of the last year apart, focusing on their busy careers.

British actor Bloom, 36, who’s starring in Broadway’s “Romeo and Juliet,” had been filming the final installments of “The Hobbit” and “Zulu” in South Africa. Meanwhile, 30-year-old, Australian-born Kerr has been traveling the world for her modeling career and building her brand, which includes a skincare line, KORA Organics.

Kerr sparked rumors of marital trouble after last year’s Victoria’s Secret show by partying late with Justin Bieber, but her reps insisted she and the Biebs, 19, were friends and her marriage to Bloom was solid. There were also rumors about Kerr and Leonardo DiCaprio, again denied by her camp.

Orlando and Miranda wed in July 2010, and their son, Flynn, was born Jan. 6, 2011. On Friday, they said in a joint statement they had separated after three years of marriage.

“They have been amicably separated for the past few months,” reads the statement. “After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.”

To all around them, the split seems extremely amicable, and both seem happy. Last Thursday, Bloom was celebrating at Hakkasan in New York with his mom and more than 10 friends. A witness told us, “Orlando was in really good spirits, dining on black truffle-roasted duck and drinking cocktails.”

And just a few days ago, Orlando and Miranda appeared amicable leaving 1600 Broadway, where Orlando is rumored to be living during his Broadway role with son Flynn. A spy said, “They seemed to be a very caring and loving couple. They didn’t seem like a couple that had just separated, and are clearly remaining close for their son.”

[From Page Six]

I hope for Flynn’s sake that this happy arrangement stays amicable. I hope they will figure out a way to co-parent and that there won’t be a fight over money and infidelity and lies. I hope that simply admitting (at long last) that their marriage wasn’t working out was just the relief that both of them needed. But… look at Miranda’s face. That’s the look of a woman who wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants to be thought of as a perky, devoted, wholesome working mother AND she wants to trade Orlando in for someone richer/more successful. Like Leonardo DiCpario.

  1. PHD Gossip says:

No way Leo goes near this.

    • Launicaangelina says:

She has a kid so that knocks her out of the running for Leo.

    • Babalon says:

      He’s already had that.

It was all over the blinds quite a while back.

      • Littlewood says:

Yeah, I do think he is the type of person to try and sleep with a married woman (the challenge of it must be more exiting then catching 20-year-old would-be models) but actually having a relationship with her? No way, there’s way to much baggage for him. But they’re both in NY and Kerr is free to hunt her next victim (needs to be rich & famous) so we’ll see. Leo might surprise all of us.

  2. Colu says:

“And just a few days ago, Orlando and Miranda appeared amicable leaving 1600 Broadway, where Orlando is rumored to be living during his Broadway role with son Flynn”

Can I suggest that his address be blocked out? There is no need for that to be in the article.

    • PHD Gossip says:

1600 broadway is a 140 unit condo tower with security. It is not a private residence. When Katie Holmes left tom cruise all the papers printed her rental apt building.

  3. Dorothy#1 says:

He was charming and sweet on Kelly and Michael Friday morning. I forget how much I like his personality because he doesn’t do a lot of interviews!!

  4. lisa2 says:

I don’t recall all the women Leo has dated.. but have any of them had kids. I don’t see him getting involved with a woman that is divorced or with a child.

She is not someone that I know a whole lot about. I know that I began seeing more about her after she had her child. Outside that I don’t know why she is in the news so much.

hopefully she and Orlando will put the child above the adult drama. They seem to be tying to do just that. They have a very young son whose whole life is going to change. I see too many adults not thinking about their child first.

    • Liv says:

She seems like such a bitch! I totally believe the cheating rumors now. He on the other hand seems pretty decent and nice, wish him the best. Hope he ends up with Condola Rashad! 😉

      • Littlewood says:

I hope he doesn’t actually. Not because I don’t like her (I do actually, very much so) but that’s just it. If he is dating her, people will focus on their relationship and not her promising career. Even more so, Kerr’s PR will work extra hard in making her seem like the reason why their marriage went bust to pull the attention away from her cheating rumors. Poor Condola will be dragged through the mud. And Condola is in a relationship with a guy (Joseph I believe) who doesn’t work in the industry. And that sounds a lot better for her then the whole media circus surrounding Orlando right now.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Littlewood, that’s already happened–at least on the Dailymail. I was on the site last night, and I saw an article about how Orlando’s turning to his costar, or something like that.

      • Littlewood says:

Virgilia, urgh they were quick! I hope they ignore those rumors otherwise the media will spend even more attention towards them!

  5. mom2two says:

I can’t see Leo going for an ex- VS model who is now 30 and has a child. I just don’t see it. He may have gone for her when there was no possibility of strings being attached but he’s not now.

I do hope that these two keep it amicable for their son. I do believe that they have been separated a while, so I think they’ve definitely had time to come to the point where they are now in their relationship.

    • lauren says:

I do think that the wants a bigger name (more succesful, richer, more power) as a new boyfriend / potential new husband. But I don´t think that this is Leo DiCaprios Playground. She is too old (for him), with a child and doesn´t work for Victorias Secret anymore.
Like you said, I hope they stay amicable for their sons sake and right now it seems that they do but I guess once the divorce proceedings start and new partners are involved it will be a different story.

  6. Melissa says:

In almost every comment, people are mentioning Leo DiCaprio and I don’t see him as the type that would date a single mother. Leo doesn’t seem like he would want a woman that would (hopefully) always puts her child first. I think he prefers them young and they can follow him around wherever and whenever he wants.

After Miranda has repeatedly given interviews about how to keep a healthy marriage (wear a little makeup, you don’t have to be the boss all the time ect), I wonder if she’ll use the single mother dating as her new schtick? Will it be part of her organic holistic lifestyle brand? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I wish them well if only for the sake of Flynn.

  7. Lori says:

I figure that some tabloid must have actually proof of one of them fooling around and now they want to make sure to get the separation news out there to save a reputation.

  8. mia girl says:

He’s wearing his keys around his neck, hanging from a leather lanyard. Is that a new thing? I’ve never seen that before.

  9. Franziska says:

This whole split just makes me sad. They always seemed like such a great little family 🙁

  10. Jessica says:

Listen, I applaud their style. Go ahead and mess with us. I love it. Sick of the traditional way of things where couples split and there’s all this drama. Let’s drag ourselves into this decade. That said, Orlando Bloom is a badass. He was freaking Legolas for chrissakes.

  11. j.eyre says:

“Usually it’s the last thing you remember before you’re strangling your ex-spouse’s divorce lawyer.” – you are killing me. I wish you were doing the sermon this morning, I might actually stay awake.

  12. Decloo says:

I know this is off topic but I still can’t figure out why she is a super-model. Yes, she has a hot body but her face is so cartoon-like to me. Do people real think she’s that pretty?

    • Littlewood says:

Some people do, I certainly don’t. Nice body but a very average face.

      • Lila says:

I’ve never understood it either. She looks like a Cabbage Patch doll. She also isn’t versatile at all which I would have thought would be a bigger issue in being a top model.

Now that she’s been dropped from Victoria’s Secret I’m fully expecting her to start crashing soon. That’s probably why she’s in such a hurry to trade up in husbands.

  13. felixswan2 says:

Does she ever spend real time with her child? It appears that Orlando is always with him (or at least photographed often with him) but she is rarely seen with him or in the same city.

    • Anna says:

She’s actually spotted with Flynn a lot more than Orlando is.

      • Littlewood says:

She poses more often in front of the paparazzi, yes. But whenever she’s away like for Paris fashion week a month ago (gone for a week) and when she went to LA (gone for 5 days, returned in time for this pap set-up) the child is hardly papped, his dad tries to keep him away from prying eyes more then her. Her image and income is closely tied with her pictures with Flynn.

      • Amber says:

Thank you, Anna. So sick of hearing that. Check out the DM, Littlewood. Bloom was papped several times while Kerr was in Australia. The DM (thought to have a direct line to Kerr’s PR team) wrote an article about him being an amazing dad in LA while she was in NY for work and the MET. Bloom has been papped constantly, just like Kerr’s always criticized for, since being in NY. Didn’t Bloom leave to go skiing right after Flynn’s B-Day? Didn’t he make another ski trip while Kerr was working in NY and they left Flynn in LA? They both suck. Bloom was off, doing whatever he wanted the first two years of Flynn’s life. Kerr’s seen w/ Flynn way more than Orlando, his photo ops w/ the kid have only increased in the last couple of months, and dramatically. It’s almost like he was covering his tracks and wanted to be seen as a good father. Much like he and Kerr have made sure to be papped together with Flynn a lot in the last few months. The only difference b/w Kerr using Flynn and Bloom using Flynn is that the ever-present nanny doesn’t hide when Bloom’s being papped. It’s a two-way street. Neither one ever seemed all that interested in being together. Now this giddyness, him talking and smiling for the paps, and them looking more comfortable together than they EVER have, just makes me think that this is either a publicity stunt, and they won’t really split, or they never really cared that much for each other. I think it’s the last one. They were separated for months, but how what it any different from the rest of the marriage?

  14. Anna says:

Look, I know no one around here likes her, and I’m indifferent toward them both, but I respect that they are putting on a united, friendly front for their kid.

  15. Summer says:

I am so glad you posted this. From someone going through a split/divorce with a Son not much older, it just seems like the fakest picture EVER. They may not hate each other, but the end of a marriage and a family unit is beyond horrific. Seems like it’s all just so plastic for the paparazzi, or it ‘s just not real to them yet that what they’re about to go through is devastating, but I am guessing it’s the former. Only in the world of celebrity do you see crap as fake as this. I do however applaud the co-parenting angle and the togetherness, even if it is a sham, their Son should be the total focus at this time.

    • Cary says:

They seem to have been separated for a long time, so maybe a lot of the bitterness has passed already. Plus he’s enjoying huge career success right now with his Broadway run and that must help to take the sting out of the split. Also, they aren’t going to have the money struggles that the average divorced couple goes through. In other words, celebrities: Not like you and me.

      • Amber says:

What huge success? Several Broadway shows are selling at max capacity and a half a dozen others are close to it. Romeo and Juliet is at 53%. I checked, http://www.playbill.com/features/article/183494-Broadway-Grosses-Oct-14-20?tsrc=nx . The only other shows doing as poorly are at 69% and 73%. So you can’t blame the economy. It’s even worse when you consider that it’s a limited run. The play got mixed-negative reviews and Bloom’s best reviews, which were mixed, and good for him, wouldn’t be much to celebrate for most other actors. I don’t see how a middling play could take the sting out of the fact that your marriage has long been over and you’re calling it a day* before your child’s third birthday. I think they’re happy b/c they never really cared and/or they’re happy that we’re paying attention to them. Just in time to begin the Hobbit promotion and a perfect distraction from Victoria’s Secret’s fashion show.

*Did they announce a legal separation or a divorce? Have they actually filed any papers? Are they too busy looking buddy-buddy and hanging out? Most celebs make a statement the day papers are filed. I’m not sure I’d announce a separation even if it was legal. And who can tell the difference w/ these two anyway? They look happier than ever and as usual, they’re playing pass the kid and not spending time together.

      • Lex says:

@amber I totally agree with you. The whole thing is fake fake fake! They never really cared. And I’ve loved Orlando Bloom since I was a wee little teen, now that I’m older I’ve moved on a bit (HELLO MiCHAEL FASSBENDER!) but Orlando will always have a special place in my heart. But when I started to be able to tell that neither really didn’t care, I was quite disappointed in him.

    • Littlewood says:

If anyone believes these pictures are genuine I have to wonder about their intelligence. These two have been separated for months according to Orlando’s team, so they have a lot of experience in looking amicable in front of the cameras.

  16. Nono says:

Who in their right minds would link Kerr and Bieber? Please. How insulting to Miranda!

    • littlestar says:

It’s true though. There were tons of rumours going around at the time (trying to recall, it might have been after the last VS show when Beiber performed?) that Kerr purposely hooked up with Beiber as a joke/to say she actually did him. I believe it’s true because it wasn’t just on one site, it was on tons of them. I know. It’s disgusting. Who would want to have sex with Beiber, joke or not? Clearly Kerr has a few lightbulbs missing.

    • Kate says:

It was a rumor going around after Beiber performed at the Victoria’s Secret show. I’d take it with a grain of salt though, there were a lot of rumours about Beiber and various other famous beautiful women around that time, as well as a ton of stories about groupies, and they all seemed to be coming from someone in his camp. I’m pretty sure he was just making stuff up in the hopes it would make Selena jealous.

  17. Fan says:

    I don’t blame her.

  18. Amy says:

I don’t think Leo will go for her! She has a kid. He seems like the kind of cad who wouldn’t go for someone just because they had a kid and that would require too much commitment. He could totally surprise us of course, but he does not seem like the nurturing type.

  19. donnadew says:

Are we sure they were ever really married? Orli seems too canny to get caught in a huge alimony trap. ( Kid support, yes.) I guess we’ll know once they file for divorce –if they do.

  20. Fan says:

These Leo’s gossips hurt their marriage. Stop it!!!

  21. A Fan says:

If that’s what they want, then good for them. There are certainly many worse things to be during a split (especially when a child is involved).

[*There’s no mistaking who that kid’s dad is!*]

  22. Square Bologna says:

Flynn is adorable. I hope he comes through this unharmed. 🙁

  23. Bubulle says:

This relationship has always been a big joke, Ted Casablancas run a BI shortly after MK announced her pregnancy :

  24. Shame says:

PUBLICITY STUNT, they never divorce. Shame, disgusting, ridiculous what these losers are doing to be in the tabloids.

    • Littlewood says:

Yeah, I’m thinking that as well. They’re just playing with the few fans they have left, all for a bit of publicity. Disgusting.

  25. Elena says:

Miranda can have her cake and eat it too. It’s not her fault you can’t. Bitter much?

  26. Maria says:

PUBLICITY STUNT as Danielle Jonas fake pregnancy. I knew Miranda was classless, but I didn’t expect that from Orlando, two desperate. LOL

  27. VilodeMenus says:

It all seemed really good until he went in for the goodbye kiss and she turned her head away. She’s not feeling the guy anymore and couldn’t even kiss him, just a peck on the cheek please. Or as I call it the kiss of death for the relationship. I think the article is correct and she wants to move up and on with someone richer as she’s not as popular model as she was, she’s rumored to be “difficult” and not making the money she used to. Leonardo isn’t going to want to raise a child, he’s still being a child himself. She may live to regret this, but I never got the feeling she was terribly smart either. There will be a toad who is a master of the universe who will be glad to buy her, I mean woo her affections. Like Stephanie Seymour. I think as long as he has access to his son he’ll be compliant.
