Following the widespread reports of Gwyneth Paltrow’s shady sexual past, In Touch Weekly decided to follow Star Magazine’s lead and put Goop on the cover. Some of the cover story is just a rehash of what we’ve already heard – that Gwyneth maybe/probably banged a billionaire named Jeffrey Soffer back in 2008. Vanity Fair’s reporter is apparently digging around in Miami for any dirt they can find on the alleged affair from five years ago. But In Touch has some interesting new details on this alleged affair:
“Gwyneth and Jeffrey were together at the opening of his hotel, the Fontainebleau, in Miami in November 2008,” a source who worked with Gwyneth at the time reveals to In Touch. “They were VERY close.”
“This could be her worse nightmare,” says an insider close to Gwyneth. “Gwyneth prides herself on presenting this image that she has the perfect life – that she’s a domestic goddess with a talented husband and exceptional kids who has everything under control. Now she’s caught up in a scandal.”
Gwyneth and Jeff were extremely stealthy about seeing each other, says an insider. “He owns Fontainebleau Aviation in Miami and has six private jets, so he was able to fly her in totally undetected whenever he wanted… Jeff would then drive Gwyneth directly to his sprawling mansion in Indian Creek.”
Not only did Jeff Soffer fly Gwyneth to Miami for the event, the source says she stayed at his $14 million mansion in nearby Indian Creek. Except for the Fontainebleau party, “They never went out in public… but they did attend parties at private homes and would hold hands around friends.”
Adding fuel to the fire: Chris and Gwyneth’s marriage seemed to be on the rocks that year. “They’ve been having trouble getting along for a while because they spend so much time apart,” an insider told In Touch at the time.
Gwyneth even spent the week leading up to Thanksgiving that year with Jeff – not her husband – according to a source close to the mogul.
“After the press caught on that she was there, she returned to London… everything had been very quiet and sneaky, but once people started talking, Gwyneth tried to keep a much lower profile.”
Jeff and Gwyneth reportedly drifted apart when Jeff started dating supermodel Elle Macpherson. “Elle told him he couldn’t speak to Gwyneth anymore,” says the source.

In Touch goes on to hedge their bets with some “allegedly” and “rumors swirled” reports about Gwyneth’s history of infidelity. They claim Gwyneth banged John Hannah during Sliding Doors (that was when she was with Brad Pitt), and how she probably banged Viggo Mortensen (when she was with Ben Affleck). I’ve heard the Viggo thing so many times before, I think it’s probably true. I’m not sure about the John Hannah story. I think Gwyneth has pretty much admitted that she fooled around on Brad, but do we know for sure who the “other man” was? Oh, I forgot – Star Mag claimed it was John Hannah too in their Goop cover story a month ago. Damn. I might have to hate-respect Gwyneth for banging Viggo AND John Hannah. Get it, Goop. I like that version of Gwyneth much more than the pristine ice-princess shtick she’s always trying to be.

I have a difficult time understanding why she’d have an affair. She doesn’t seem like a passionate person, so it doesn’t seem like it’d be about sex. Attention, I guess?
Right? She just lacks any sexuality. I think that is why I didn’t get the “most beautiful” thing. She just seems so very dry. And I mean that in every sense.
You’re right Itstrue. She does seem dry and she doesn’t know how to outwardly express her sexuality. Who knows what she’s like in bed? It could be the only place that she allows herself to feel sensual. Or she could feel stiff and controlled but act as if she loves every moment (she’s won awards for her acting so, yeah). Or she could be an awful lay but kisses up to her lover so much that they keep her around. I think to one degree or another she looks at it as a means to an end. And because of what she gets in return, she’s in measured doses, happy to comply.
Yeah, she just tries to get powerful guys and it never lasts, they dump her or she actually spreads rumors herself about getting them. Her only sexual energy is focused on herself. She does more with her few “girlfriends” than the guys….She just blatantly throws herself at the “Best guys” even right in front of their girlfriends. She also manipulates men with sex to further her financial matters or career. She is the least sexual woman ever. She really enjoys hurting other women though, that is what she gets off on!

I’m wondering if the rumor is true that Goop had an affair with Guy Ritchie while he was still married to Madonna and that’s the reason they are no longer bff’s.
That would make a lot of sense though I doubt she’d be Ritchie’s type at all. She probably planted a seed of doubt in Madonna’s mind and that could have been enough for the women to fall out. This whole sexual supremacy thing is ridiculous.

Yeah I get that feeling about her too, she seems like a dirty bird. I think Guy Pearce referred to her that way during the Iron Man 3 press tour.
She did that very funny interview with Jonathan Ross some years ago where he said he would totally fuck her if his wife gave him permission and everybody was outraged, but she thought it was more like an offbeat joke than inappropriate. She seems like a lot of fun actually and not dry at all.
I’ve always thought that she has a quiet neediness about her. Whether or not she appreciates and enjoys sex seems beside the point. She needs constant reassurance that she’s wonderful, that she’s the best and judges how a man treats her based on the emotional and material resources he spends wooing her. I think soon after that, when the phase of lavish, adoring attention fades or her expectations of ANY sort come up short, her positive feelings do as well. She’ll become insecure, fretful and as a result of her entitlement, will seek to meet her needs elsewhere, regardless of the agreed upon level of commitment. It can drive a man (a true man, not a flake) mad because she’s wholly unaware that deeper and more genuine levels of a loving relationship exist.
It could also be that she checks out when she senses that her partner has. Turning the slightest eye away is unacceptable! Seriously, it’s.not.acceptable. She’ll show him *maniacal chuckle* that she’s still desirable and still worthy! A high/er status, highly regarded, powerful and wealthy man will do her bidding…and will do it better!
So she cheats. And only dimly regrets it. And if he’s disloyal then all bets are off. Her fear of inadequacy skyrockets, as does her anger, and so begins endless comparisons, rationalizations and a drive to inflict pain.
She presents herself as pristine, a woman of integrity, a woman too cultured and sophisticated and *moral* to bow to such pettiness and manipulation. She has the natural potential to be all of the above but not only does she live in shallow, image-oriented Hollywood, obtaining this level of health requires a lot of work and introspection. And because there’s little room for introspection in her life, she settles on looking the part. The result is that she’s become a common hypocrite (emphasis on common) and she’s deathly afraid that she’ll be found out. Her reputation is at stake and as we’ve all been informed, she’s prepared to protect it at any cost.
I think this situation isn’t unusual but she’s a more extreme version of those we encounter in everyday life.
That’s my guess.

I suspect “if” Gwyneth could have landed Stoffer… she would have divorced Chris Martin back then. But Stoffer was not looking for a wife. Just interesting in shagging someone else’s.

Alright, since you guys keep asking about Viggo,.. of course I don’t know for sure but that one is really unlikely. So many of you seemed to really be upset about it (most of us have that one we’ve never met that we just totally crush on) and since so many of you keep bringing him up, I asked a friend of mine that worked on set with them. What she and others there thought was that she came on to him to make someone jealous, he did respond to her at first because he is REALLY intelligent, and she used her Spanish, fake studied “intellect, class, pseudo sophistication” so that he was interested for a minute but nothing went very far. Apparently he is really philosophical and deep and he found her way too shallow in the end to take seriously. He caught on to it, and was actually went with or was with someone else at the time. That is what the thought on the film was anyway according to my old friend as she remembers. Again, GP stirs up a lot of this herself for attention and to add to her self described “sex symbol” (yep 🙂 image. Her co-workers were more just pissed at her the whole time because she was trying to quit smoking, made a big thing of it, then tried to hide that she hadn’t, and was really even bitchier than usual because she had gained weight, her actor boyfriend was cheating on her repeatedly and already checked out of the relationship because of her henpecking. My friend said it was more interesting that Michael Douglas couldn’t stand her, never could, and just looks at her like his old friend’s bratty daughter that always passes herself off as something she’s not…but he feels obligated to put up with her because of his friendship with Bruce and he cares for Blythe (in a respectful way). I think I even remember Michael himself kind of calling her out in the press junkets for that film. She was apparently was taking coke and things to try to get off a few pounds, her skin was breaking out from the drugs and the makeup artists did a a beautiful job with her skin but couldn’t stand her whining. She also insisted her wardrobe be all changed to cover (gasp) like the horrible 5 whole pounds she had gained, didn’t get along at all with the director and was a total nightmare. So sounds like Viggo really turned off on her fast!!! Chris is the only one who ever stuck with her and he is never with her 🙂 Actually even though I didn’t like her even then, that movie and Proof were the only ones I could ever even stand of hers and hadn’t heard anything about her from friends around then so thought maybe she had outgrown the high school mean stage – wow was I wrong) So ANYWAY, she probably didn’t do anything with him, and if she did he dumped her in a heartbeat. Hope that makes you ladies feel better, my friend was there everyday and that’s her take on what happened with him and her (or didn’t really). And sounds totally Paltrow-y so think there assessment is probably true. If I hear anything else I’ll let you know. Me, I always thought he seemed really intelligent and was kind of hot but he never really did it for me…wonder what he is up to now. Know nothing about him, friend said he really didn’t seem to like the business much and was going to pretty much get out of it. Did he? Gee, maybe I better go back and check out some of his movies now since you all think he is so great :-)!

Why do I feel like, when she finally has to deal with this scandal in some way, she’s going to blame her behavior on how lost she felt in the years after her father died? Nothing happens that she doesn’t circle back to her father in some way. If her local organic market was out of tomatoes, she’d launch into a story about how much her father loved vegetables.

I’d believe it. Firstly, she admitted she cheated on Brad and broke his heart, hence their engagement ended. I often feel he never got over Gwyneth betraying him like that. And no one truly believes Gwyneth and Chris are truly happy anyway. He would rather physically, LITERALLY, run away from her in public than be seen next to her. Not wanting to have your spouse at openings as a matter of a family rule is one thing: physically running away from her when cameras are there is a completely different matter entirely. She is like LeAnn Rimes. She tries *way* too hard to convince people of her domestic and family bliss.

I have a feeling there’s going to be more in it than just Goop’s affairs… Btw, my fiance and I stayed at the Fontainbleu when we vacationed in Miami a few years ago. Very beautiful hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Goopy really does have crazy expensive taste, even when it comes to her men lol.

I don’t know, call me crazy but I can’t imagine this will hurt her image too much. I think she was seen as pathetically clinging to her marriage for so long that the idea of enjoying the attentions of another guy while her husband clearly was avoiding her, and maybe having affairs of his own, makes her seem more human. Not that it was right to have an affair, if that’s what she did, but it somehow seems she’s more worthy of sympathy than Martin is. Ugh, Hollywood.

C Martin does not strike me as warm or caring whatsoever; he strikes me as boyish and righteous. I get the feeling she is and has been starved for affection. I want be scandelized damn it LOL!! So I’m more hoping there is some inside knowledge of what goes on and what she gets up to during parties, maybe it’s not just organic food keeping her slim *cough cough*. Hmm, I think there is more to her worrying about this story than affairs. Why ask all her friends to boycott VF and NEVER do VF again? Seems a little extreme as mags ponticate about affairs all the time and celebs are used that that. Affairs are always whispered, but actually hard to prove when both parties deny (especially years later). I’m curious to what she REALLY wants to hide. There is something juicy there she is worried about I think.

There is TONS there more. You name it…it’s there to be exposed all right. But she’ll stop most of it I know it. She has hundreds of people (paid for by hubby) literally that are on her payroll and they protect her. For the $$$ or like my friends, stuck in jobs forced to deal with her, signed clauses and can’t blab. They always end up quitting after a while even though it’s a sweet deal and family otherwise, she treats them like dirt and is a maniac and shrew (and yeah the whole food/drugs are a big part of it) plus she is just mean. And jealous jealous jealous! Not one of anyone I know who has worked with them has any issue with Chris, just her. Sure we do … it was Ben Affleck. When Brad found out (she may have even told him) and they had their big blow-out/break up, she flew to New York City to stay with Winona Ryder. I recall seeing their smiling faces, with cocktails in hand, out clubbing the weekend after she left Brad. She didn’t look/seem sad at all.
That was in 1997, the same year she began dating Ben Affleck. The same year Winona Ryder and Matt Damon started dating. And isn’t it curious that both couple dated from 1997 to 2000? Though Ben and Gwen were on again/off again during that time period.
Gwennie ‘really’ messed with Brad’s head. He was truly in love with that girl. She as said since that she was young and silly during her relationship with Brad, and she regrets cheating on him (probably with more men than Ben).
