Angelina Jolie’s ‘Unbroken’ already causing controversy with Aussie conservationists

FFN_Jolie_Angelina_SNAPPER_102613_51244967

Here are some new photos of Angelina Jolie and three of her kids. Let’s see who’ve got… Knox Jolie-Pitt (with a new haircut!), Vivienne and Pax. There are some assorted bodyguards too, and it looks like they were just shopping for kids’ stuff. I see a princess castle… balloon? Is that a balloon? Also, I just need to say something about little Knox – he looks so adorable with that haircut, and I really think that kid’s becoming more of a ginger as he ages. I swear, he’s going to look like Michael Fassbender when he’s all grown up. Also: I love Knox’s “Taco Tuesday” t-shirt. He’s so cute. All of the kids are, of course, but Knox always seems like a particularly chill little dude.

Angelina and the kids are still in Australia, where she’s filming Unbroken. She and the kids just relocated to Queensland, and Angelina plans to film there, using some of Queensland’s most famous locales. Unfortunately, some of the historical preservationists (and conservationists) have their panties in a twist about it:

OSCAR-winning actor Angelina Jolie has been accused of “disrespecting Queensland’s heritage”, amid fears the filming of her new movie will damage a national park. The Hollywood superstar and her entourage descended on Queensland last week to begin shooting her World War II drama Unbroken at some of the state’s most picturesque locations.

But while Queensland Arts Minister Ian Walker has branded her movie “a major coup”, Australia’s environmental action group Conservation Volunteers is not impressed.

The movie involves building a prisoner of war camp at the historic Fort Lytton National Park, on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, at Lytton. Wayne Cameron, chair of the group’s Brisbane catchment network, is concerned about the potential for damage.

“This is just another example of the State Government treating our national parks with a fair amount of disrespect,” he said. “I would like to have a word with the wonderful Angelina Jolie about her movie and tell her a few things about the environment and the heritage at Fort Lytton. The movie set sounds like it will create the potential for mess that we will have to go in and clear up, to say nothing for the impact it will have on native regeneration.”

Built in 1881, Fort Lytton was used for the defence of Brisbane until the end of World War II. The park is usually open for public visits but has been closed for filming until November 22. Executive co-ordinator at National Parks Association of Queensland, Paul Donatiu, said he also hoped Jolie and the film crew would treat the park with respect.

“They need to make sure they leave it as they found it, or preferably in a better condition,” he said.

On Saturday the Arts Minister would not comment when asked about potential damage to Fort Lytton. His spokeswoman said it was not “an issue” for the department because the Minister had “played no role in deciding” the film locations.

National Parks Minister Steve Dickson also declined to comment. Information on the Department of National Parks website reveals there is a sliding scale of fees applicable to commercial filming. Small operators least likely to damage the environment pay lower fees, while larger-scale productions pay higher fees.

Rob Allan, of the Government’s Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, said filming at Fort Lytton was “subject to strict conditions that protect the surrounding built and natural environment.”

[From The Courier Mail]

I can understand how conservationists and preservationists would be worried about a film crew and the potential for damage, but it seems like they’re protesting too loudly when nothing has really happened yet. It’s not like Angelina is going to personally burn the place down. If there are already existing regulations about filming in the locations, then so be it. If it gets damaged, the studio will pay to have it fixed. And that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I remember that the French government wouldn’t let Steven Spielberg film in Normandy for Saving Private Ryan, and so he asked the British government to agree to filming in some of their protected locations, and they allowed him to come and film. Spielberg ended up bringing so many jobs and so much industry to England that the Queen gave him a knighthood and none of the locations got too banged up.

In other Villainess Jolie news, the UK papers claimed last week that Angelina was considering a massive offer to write a tell-all memoir. Allegedly, Angelina’s been offered $50 million for a tell-all book. But it’s probably BS. I think the UK papers are recycling some years-old tabloid reports.

YIKES. Does anyone else get a little freaked out by those arm veins?

    • Nono says:

It’s the boobs that do it for me. I wish she hadn’t gone bigger. They look comical on her tiny frame.

      • Alita says:

@HOHO, gotcha, thanks. I’d forgotten her mammary issues and was thinking ‘hello, bazoongas! Wassup?!’ until you mentioned it. Don’t know if this was publically discussed (no reason for it to be, except it’s a celeb) but yeah, bigger O_O

      • Delorb says:

They were fake before her surgery. Her weight came and went, but those bits were always the same. Big tip off to their being fake. Now she can claim that she got them because of her mastectomy. But we all know the truth.

Oh and those veins are nasty.

I’m wondering why she felt the need to build a prison camp in that particular place. She could have used any north American city with a forest or even locations in eastern Europe. Film crews have been known to trash locations, so I can understand their concerns.

    • Diana says:

Me! God, that was frightening. Esp. that pic of Knox’ close up. That arm is scaaaary.

    • Rachel says:

I like her as a person, and I really respect how she uses her fame to highlight issues that are important to her… but those veins will fuel my nightmares tonight.

    • LL says:

It’s funny because she once said her arm veins were her favorite part about herself physically. 🙂

    • erika1985 says:

They are veins. Sheesh! We all have them.

    • Thiajoka says:

Yeah, I noticed them ASAP. At first I was screaming, “You’ve got to eat!” at the computer as if Angie could hear me, then I began wondering if we know the full story about her health–maybe she didn’t just have the genetic propensity for cancer, maybe cancer?

    • chalkdustgirl says:

Me!!!! My arms hurt just looking at them.

    • Used☩oBeLulu says:

Nothing wrong with visible veins. What is wrong with her arms is the absolute absence of any body fat. And now that I can see her chest area, she looks absolutely the most bony I have EVER seen her. And if the camera adds 10 lbs, she is definitely at an unhealthy weight.

  2. Audrey says:

Knox looks so much like Michael Pitt

    • YuYa says:

I was going to say the same thing. I do not see Michael “abuser” Assbender in him at all.

    • Mayda says:

      SO TRUE

    • cs says:

I’ve always thought Knox looks like is a mini- Michael Pitt., not at all Fassy. When I first saw these pics, I thought it was an old photo of Shiloh.

He’s no where near ginger, more dirty blonde. I define ginger as Prince Harry/Ed Sheeran, Conan O’Brien.

    • toto says:

Knox is a spit image of Brad’s Father.
      wait and see

  3. ANDREA1 says:

Knox is an adorable kid and he looks like Shiloh.. They all have this resemblance its hard to tell them apart..

  4. YummyMummy says:

She looks so bony and skinny but her boobs look way too big

  5. nani says:

I simply love Angelina and her family1 That’s all. I’ve never seen someone so charismatic as she is.

  6. Catk says:

She went way too big on those implants, they look wack on her skeletal frame. Not good, her plastic surgeon should be fined.

    • Cecilia says:

I know, right? It’s hard to believe she chose those giant implants & why are her nipples pointing in all different directions? This looks like a do-over.

    • Lauren says:

I feel empathy for Angelina. Her operation must have been incredibly painful and now her body looks almost freakishly out of proportion. She looks so happy with her children, and I wish her well.

  7. eliza says:

I get loving black clothing but sometimes it is nice when you give the black a break and introduce a color. The sacks she is wearing lately are not flattering BUT before anyone flips on me, her clothes look comfortable and I guess that’s her goal. Comfort.

    • floretta50 says:

Angie and her children are very white people, that is why she wears black so often, black protects against skin cancer more than any other color, I just found that out at a recent visit to a dermatologist I had no idea. also most people want Angie to be perfect but she is only human there are some people of which I know a few who have large bones, regardless of their weight they have veins sticking out on their legs and arms it’s heredity. Knox don’t seem to get upset by the paps at all, he always seem to enjoy them.

    • Rhea says:

I read her interview where she said she wears black because it’s practical.

      http://www.vogue.com/magazine/article/december-cover-angelina-jolie/#1

She is wearing a little cropped jacket by Neil Barrett, who dresses haute Hollywood, classic pants by Helmut Lang, and Ferragamo flats. Black, black, and black. “As Brad’ll tell you—and my kids—apparently Mommy only wears black,” she says. Because she was a Goth, right? No, she says, it’s utilitarian, it’s practical: “I like to get up so every pair of pants goes with every top, every dress goes with every shoe. I’ve a very tiny closet. Brad’s always laughing at me. Some days, yes, I have the nightgown that looks like a dress that I can sleep in and pick the kids up at school. And maybe take a meeting if I switch into heels.”

      • Hootysgram says:

Seriously Angie..wear a nightgown to pick up the kids…and perhaps a meeting with heels? Give me a break. You sound like a lazy slob.

      • Rhea says:

@Hootysgram : meh. I don’t think she really goes to the meeting wearing a nightgown. But I do think she’s the type that doesn’t really care what she’s wearing on daily basis.
Also, I saw her wearing lots of maxi dress/sack dress that for me could pass as a nightgown. 🙂 So maybe it’s true the nightgown that she’s talking about has a fancy design that could pass as a dress. JMO.

  8. lucy says:

Such a beautiful face, but such an unattractive body. The veins, the wandering nipples, the unflattering clothes. If this was anybody else, they’d be getting ripped apart.

The conservationist sounds like he’s just speculating, and i’m sure Angelina is not stupid enough to destroy a national park, and it’s not like they’re wouldn’t be stipulations in place.

Also that castle balloon is amazing.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Lucy, who wrote: “Such a beautiful face, but such an unattractive body. The veins, the wandering nipples, the unflattering clothes. If this was anybody else, they’d be getting ripped apart.”

Well, that depends … did the ‘anybody else’ have all the tissue in their breasts removed in a cancer prevention procedure, where their nipples where anchored and subjected to an ‘extremely’ torturous routine (which would most likely make them ‘wander’ a bit) so that they wouldn’t lose them (the nipples) after the mastectomy? If so, we probably wouldn’t rip them at all (at least, ‘I’ wouldn’t).

Her clothing? She’s not on the red carpet or at an Industry event, so whatever clothing she wears for comfort or anonymity–unflattering or otherwise–is up to her, right? I mean, if ‘she’ doesn’t feel the need to dress to impress anyone, it’s ‘her’ business.

      • Tara says:

you are right, of course, but with her money she could have had more delicate, satisfactory work done. my bff had amastoplexy and augmentation with two rounds of areola/nipple reattachments done due to a minor complication. but the surgeon was highly skilled and dedicated and was proud of his claim to fame: a full, naturally sloped, classical breast. i wish Angie could have had a doctor like that.

      • Ennie says:

Results can vary from person to person. And I have my doubts thta AJ would sit still for too long recovering, she would have to be tied down.

As I understand, she was in the middle of the process of different surgeries when she was flying around the world visiting Afrca ina humantarian mission. Not good for a perfect recovery, but i bet she was careful nevertheless.

And who cares where do her nipples point after a recent mastectomy? She will care for it when she wants to. It was not a beautifying surgery, her goals were different, she went bigger, but she has no breast tissue at all that encloses a regular boob job.

  9. Hypocrisy says:

Those kids are tall for being barely 5. Knox will be huge, probably somewhere around Jon Voight’s 6’4″ height.

  10. ANDREA1 says:

Angelina has got her hands full that book deal is BS

  11. SBJ says:

Look at those veins on her arms !
I agree with those who said the implants are way too big for her. Lucky she’s not falling down with those boobs, they must be a third of her weight and keeping her balance must not be easy…

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@SBJ, who wrote: “I agree with those who said the implants are way too big for her. Lucky she’s not falling down with those boobs, they must be a third of her weight and keeping her balance must not be easy… ”

Man, talk about a ‘Tempest in a Teapot’ … are we looking at the same pictures? The ones above, right? Because I just don’t see the ‘Her boobs are SO BIG, she should be falling down!’ aspect at all. They look like normal, regular-sized breasts to me. Is everyone here a 32-A?

      • SBJ says:

Normal regular size ? Really ??????? A “normal regular size” boobs is not the one where they are the first thing you see in a picture. I am sorry if you disagree with me (well, no, in fact I don’t care) but it’s how I see them, huge, painful and she is way too skinny for them.

These boobs look painful, really really tense and her back probably hurt like hell and I should know as mine are about the same size, but all natural.

      • The Original G says:

Excuse me, but what a “normal” boob size and who’s in charge of the commitee?

  12. xboxsucks says:

Knox looks just like shiloh,he is so cute.
Angelina looks sick, she is drop dead gorgeous and her face is still flawless but i do worry about her deadly skinny figure.

  13. Bird says:

Her boobs look way too large for her frame, which is skeletal. She also desperately needs a stylist.

  14. doofus says:

aw, little one is looking like his big sis Shiloh.

considering what a humanitarian Jolie is, I suspect she also pretty well informed on protected lands and such, too. I have a feeling this production will take the sensitive environment into consideration.

  15. Kim1 says:

Let’s see Angie is skinny Check
    Angie has veiny arms Check
    Angie only wears black Check
    Angie breasts are swollen Check
Nothing besides the breasts being swollen has changed in the last eight years
In new news Knox got his haircut for the first time. Knox and Vivienne are back in Australia after being in London for over three weeks with Brad.

    • Sal says:

You got it right! Its the same schtick with the Anistonloonies over and over and over again. Everything Le Jolie does is evil, wrong and for nefarious reasons. The only thing they have left to comment on now is boobs and veins and weight. Its so pathetic and predictable.

      • cs says:

And Just think they’ve been saying the same thing for almost 9 years now. I read the archives for Just Jared in 2005. The same comments. It’s so comical.

        She’s so skinny
        She’s on drugs
        Look at her veins
        She had breast implants
        They broke up
        They’re living separate lives

It’s so tiresome. Especially now that the kids are hitting their tweens/teens.

      • Hootysgram says:

I’m not a fan of either of them…Angie or Jen…or Brad for that matter. I just think she does little to enhance her appearance…and yeh, perhaps she could care less as she’s out and about with her children. Her and Brad both always look like they need to comb their hair and wash their faces.

  16. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I think her boobs look big(ger) compared to what kind of shirt she’s wearing–at least to me. They didn’t look as big as when she wore those black dress pants with the belt and black camisole tucked in. And that outfit is fug–if she’d worn a pair of jeans, instead of the pants being the same material as the shirt, then it’d be better.

I’m guessing that these people are also protesting to get their name out there–good tactic.

  17. Boodiba says:

    Those nipples are outta control.

  18. Cecilia says:

I’m not sure what is happening here but AJ looks tragic. She needs a multitude of help & looks like she is about to topple over. Somebody help her!!

I love Knox’s new haircut & Viv looks adorable. I also think the tell all book deal is BS.

  19. Jen says:

Are we allowed to talk about how TERRIBLE her boob job is? I mean I know it was for medical reasons and not for vanity, so I’m hesitant. But they are seriously horrible. They look totally wonky and are WAY too big for her skinny frame. I can’t even describe what’s going on in these pictures. Uniboob? And she apparently doesn’t wear bras anymore at all? She should get them fixed by a better doctor.

    • Hubbahun says:

Uh-oh Jen, you’ve woken the beast of the Brangelooonie – quick, hide behind me, I’ll protect you! And you’re right by the way, they are terrible but let us not forget that anything Le Jolie does is is bathed in the pure water of goodness and purity. Not ever for unsavoury reasons such as vanity and publicity. NEVER! **brandishes The Sword of Denial**

      • MisJes says:

Hah! Thank you, Hubbahun. This made me giggle, and it was refreshing/sorely needed after a long night shift. Let me just grab my bow; I’ll cover our rear!

      • The Original G says:

She can get big boobs for whatever reason she likes, vanity and publicity included. That doesn’t change her accomplishments or her basic human decency. You can put your sword down now.

    • Lisa says:

      Yeah, they don’t look good.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Well is it because it’s a bad boob job, or because she’s not wearing a bra (which it looks like she isn’t in this pic), or because her breasts are still swollen? I’d say a combination of all three–all she has is skin and her nipples left–the rest is the implant, which it is my understanding that they’ll look even more “unnatural” because there’s no fat to soften the implants. I’m guessing she’s not wearing a bra because it’s uncomfortable, because she doesn’t feel like it–who knows? I’ve heard that the swelling takes up to a year to go down, I’ve heard that it takes only a few months–maybe it’s different for each person. I wouldn’t want people looking at my nipples, as I don’t think it’s a good look, but to each their own.

And I think that criticizing anyone’s boobs (after undergoing a mastectomy) is in poor taste. I don’t think that we all mean to be hurtful, but saying things like her boobs look wonky and stuff like that is a big reason why a lot of women are hesitant to even contemplate making the decision to get rid of their breasts.

      • Kim1 says:

If it was the boob job it would have been evident months ago when she attended the WWZ premiers. So maybe they are swollen.Whatever the reason Angie is directing a film now so she will focus on her job.
On a personal aside PLEASE continue to wear black, baggy clothes, please show off your veiny arms and please continue to go braless. It makes me so happy to see others so upset . 🙂

      • Tara says:

actually if she were still experiencing swelling her doctor would advise her to wear a soft, cotton post surgical bra and then transition to a sports and then a padded bra. underwire will be out of the question for the next year and a half.

  20. Lucky Charm says:

Is this the new site brought out again? I know it’s not just my phone, because it looks completely different than before. One thing I liked about the old site was seeing all the new stories on one page without having to scroll down for each one.

I’m sure this is much ado about nothing. I’m sure Angelina, of all people, would take care to preserve the protected areas. But hey, what better way to advertise your organization than to mention Angelina Jolie coming to your locale…

  21. Kim1 says:

Well @Jen she is directing a film so having another surgery is not going to happen now so do yourself a favor and stop looking at pics of her since she looks so “terrible” Have a lovely day

  22. RobN says:

I would tend to trust her with most locations, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are places where you can’t just go back later and fix what you’ve damaged. Some things actually are unfixable. The fact that the government officials are willing to allow access for a fee doesn’t change the historical import of the location or how careful people should be with it.

If the conservationist groups feel that the govt. folks have been a little cavalier with what they’ve allowed, mostly for money and media attention, then it’s their job to call attention to that.

    • lucy2 says:

Agreed. I’m thinking the best course of action would be for them to meet the crew ahead of time, details specifically what needs to be protected and what needs to be untouched, and then if necessary, have someone from the group on set to monitor them. Surely the film could afford that, and the preservation group could use the income.

    • Kath says:

The conservationists aren’t having a go at Jolie, they are criticising the Queensland government who are NOTORIOUS for not giving a damn about the environment.

Queensland has the worst clearing rate of forest etc. in the country and animals like koalas are now seriously threatened by the resulting loss of habitat. Yet the Qld government has been running major interference with having the koala’s endangered status revised because it might hinder development. (Can’t have that, can we?)

They are also wilfully ignoring the damage being done to the Great Barrier Reef, even though it (and the rest of Queensland’s natural heritage) is a major contributor to the state economy, through tourism etc.

So, again, I don’t think the conservation bodies are worried about Angelina Jolie but about the lack of oversight which may (inadvertently) result in damage to the environment, despite the film crew’s best intentions.

… And I don’t give a crap about the woman’s arms or boobs.

      • KitDigby says:

Thank you Kath! Absolutely agree, this is about the shameful disrespect the Qld government has for the environment, they’ll sell us out without remorse. All of Moreton Bay and surrounds are so fragile, thank God for the conservationists who are paying attention and speaking up.

  23. Esmom says:

Aw, looks like Knox got his hair cut to match his dad. So cute.

I call BS on the conservation stuff, I can’t imagine Jolie and her team would do anything that isn’t aboveboard. Especially considering this project has been so long in the making, why jeopardize it? I’d guess they have plenty of access to places that aren’t controversial.

And yes that castle is a balloon. The days of plain round ones are long over…

  24. Maggie says:

What on earth is she wearing? That is one ugly unflattering outfit. Her boobs appear to be growing. They are so large for her tiny frame. I’m pretty sure it’s not swelling at this point.

  25. marina says:

Honestly, does she own anything but black? When I traveled a lot for work I mainly kept my clothes to the basics (black, grey, brown) so it was easier to match and travel lighter but Jeez! And yes, her boobs look way bigger than when she first had the reconstruction. The swelling should be going down (speaking from experience). They look freakishly large in this picture. Also, do the older kids have teachers traveling with them full-time? They don’t seem to go to school the way they are always on the go.

    • Ennie says:

OMG so many questions! Poor AJ she should consult her agenda with people who dislike her before getting up in the morning.

  26. Lopusta says:

If there is anything I like about this woman is the fact that she doesn’t care about her appearance! She doesn’t indulge in high fashion she does it anyhow without giving a f*ck on what people say. 🙂 On her boobs you can’t say what is going on with it because its still swelling it wasn’t this big the last time she was out and the nipple ahh just give it a rest already she wasn’t flaunting it before the mastectomy please give her a break on that. On her weight do you guys ever consider the fact that maybe its not easy for her to gain weight. Body shaming is very BAD! Not only to fat people but also slim people most especially when you don’t know what is going on with them..
On another note Brad and Angie has lovely kids. So beautiful.

    • Sal says:

      Well said Lopusta.

    • Jen says:

Oh please, her terrible black outfit is probably from Prada or Gucci or something. It’s just so terrible that they look like they’re from Walmart.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

Not to mention that all the people commenting over and over and OVER again (some probably using aliases to do so) are only doing so because, as someone said up stream, it’s all they have. 🙂

And did you notice the ‘names’ of the people who seem unnaturally obsessed with her breasts? It’s like a Female First/Ian Halperin Undercover member’s roll-call list.

  27. The Original G says:

Angelina will meet with conservationists and reassure them and leave the place better than she found it . They’ll all get a photo op and walk away happy, especially previously unheard of conservationsist group.

Haters thrilled Ang is wearing black again. Everybody’s happy!

  28. Sloane Wyatt says:

“I can understand how conservationists and preservationists would be worried about a film crew and the potential for damage, but it seems like they’re protesting too loudly when nothing has really happened yet.” Um, NO, actually now IS the time to protest irreversibly wrecking the environment before it’s too late!

“Unfortunately, some of the historical preservationists (and conservationists) have their panties in a twist about it:” – Seriously? Does history teach you nothing?

You only have to look at what happened when a Hollywood environmentalist got his paws on another irreplaceable national park. There too the local authorities and environmentalists complained that they had not been consulted and that the ecology would be endangered. The studio went ahead anyway, left a large deposit for its reconstruction, and promised to take care.

After several months of filming by 20th Century Fox for his movie ‘The Beach’, Leonardo Dicaprio turned Maya Bay, a once pristine Thai national park, into a “forlorn scene of ugly bamboo fences and dead native plants”. Its silver sand beach was washed out to sea, with no hope of reconstruction.

I hope Australia’s environmental action group Conservation Volunteers fights this desecration tooth and f*cking nail!

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

What did they do to it?

I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of filmmaking, but what can a film crew do to a location, a historic location, that would be permanent damage? I can get not allowing her to film where they’ll need explosions or something like that, but other than that I can’t think of anything that would seriously damage a place.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

Maya Bay, in a pristine Thai national park, fit British author Garland’s “The Beach” novel, but the beach never quite measured up to what the film-makers at Fox envisaged. Scrub bushes which dotted the beach were deemed unsightly, even though they held the sand together and prevented erosion. There were also no palm trees which, they decided, people expected to see on a tropical beach, so the Thai government’s forestry department allowed the beach to be “rearranged”.

In came 60 alien and mature palms, out went the distasteful local bushes. The beach was widened, leveled, and cleared. As promised, the film-makers tried to return Maya Bay to its original state after shooting was completed. They removed the palms, replanted the native plants and dotted the beach with bamboo fences to hold the sand dunes in place. They employed local and foreign advisers but as ecologists know, putting a complex tropical ecosystem back together is hard, if not impossible.

Native plants like giant milkweed, sea pandanus, and spider lily, which were removed from the beach and kept in a nursery, died. The white sand has been swept out to sea by seasonal storms because there were no more native plants to hold it in place. The bamboo fences did not work, so what was once the most idyllic beach in the Orient is now gone.

The Thai forestry department and agriculture ministry took 20th Century Fox and its Thai coordinator Santa International Film Production to court. The lawsuits dragged on for years. In 2006, Thailand’s Supreme Court upheld an appeal court ruling that the filming had harmed the environment and ordered that damage assessments be made. Defendants in the case included 20th Century Fox and some Thai government officials.

Prior to 2004, the island had avoided development. However, now it’s a part of Phi Phi National Park, been cleared of natural plant life, and has been turned over to developers. Last I knew, plans to build bungalows on this former nature preserve of an island were underway.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Oh, I’d be mad if I were them. I don’t understand how that isn’t just common courtesy and sense–when you’re filming on sensitive locations, whether due to the history or the natural habitat, either you be extra careful (and that means taking nothing in or out) or you go somewhere else. If they wanted something more “beachy”, then they should’ve went to the Bahamas or wherever. Heck, they could’ve gone to Guam (I used to live there)–it’s an island about 27 miles long and has coconut and banana trees all over the place.

That’s just rude and disrespectful to take out stuff like that, no matter if you promised to put it back.

I don’t know, I feel like there’s always going to controversy whenever she directs a project, no matter what. I remember everyone freaking out over In the Land of Blood and Honey. First it was she was an idiot who was promoting rape as love (even though no one had even seen the script, and all it was described as was a love story that had a different conclusion once the Bosnian War hit, than it would’ve in any other circumstance), then she plagiarized (even though the book was written in the Serbian language I believe), and when those things weren’t proven true, people (on this site) were saying that she was just going to make a film that was going to be a hot mess, full of cliches and that she was trying too hard to be the voice of the Bosnian/Serbian people or something.

Basically people were saying that she was going to offend a lot of people, no matter what. Which I never really thought. Not because I am a fan of hers, but I just don’t think she’s that stupid to produce something that will offend rape victims, an entire nation—and no one pointed that out to her. I saw ITLOBAH about a year ago, and it was very hard to watch. It got a little confusing in the middle (which me watching this at 4 in the morning may have contributed to that), but overall it was a very good film. And I am really excited for her next one–I hope she inspires more women to go into directing.

      • Kath says:

Thanks Sloane – I knew some of this, but didn’t realise the extent of the damage. And I love how Leo Decraprio calls himself an ‘environmentalist’.

  29. Janet says:

Her arm veins were just as prominent in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Nothing new to see here

  30. TG says:

Her breasts look like they are made of granite. She has a rectangle figure.

  31. ANDREA1 says:

Always the same old same old with Angie! Yes she has terrible fashion sense but she doesn’t care she is still the highest paid and highest earning actress even when she hasn’t featured in a movie since 2010.

    • Sal says:

+1 When some actresses have to do 2 or 3 movies a year and not make anywhere near the money Angelina makes for doing a movie every 3 or 4 years, its simply plain jealousy to snark on her. She always comes out on top and it makes her haters seethe.

  32. themummy says:

I thought Knox was Shiloh at first and was so confused because, I mean, I’m looking right at her and I know she’s older than that! And sure enough, it’s Knox. Uncanny resemblance.

As for her boobs and whatnot…. Well, she can’t help the veins. Even when she was heavier (and I do not mean heavy…just heavier than she is now with a bit more body fat) she had veiny arms. I can’t shade anyone for physical features they have no control over. I think that’s cruel and is just bullying. Her boobs, too–everyone comments on how huge they look, how her nipples are flying everywhere, and it is true, BUT none of us have been through what she just went through (well, most of us anyhow) and we don’t know anything at all about her particular situation. It takes time for new boobs to settle and with a reconstruction it may be an altogether different situation. The skin may be tighter and so holds everything up in an odd way until they settle. The nipples have been either reconstructed from flesh or are her original nipples sewn back on and I cannot imagine how weird and unpleasant that must be for her. She can’t help any of it and it’s not our business to make judgments on her medical situation–and her boobs, comically big to us or not, is part of that medical situation. It looks uncomfortable to me and it probably is uncomfortable for her. It’s private and she likely has her reasons for the choices she made and that’s fine.

I am neutral on Angelina. I admire her humanitarian work very much, but otherwise am not a fan or an anti-fan, so I’m not just defending her wildly. I honestly think people are making a lot of judgments about her boobies/medical situation that they know nothing/very little about, and it irks me a little. It’s just insensitive and a little pompous, actually. The mother of a friend of mine had a mastectomy and reconstruction. She had implants put in that looked so uncomfortable, but in time they settled in. She was self-conscious about them for a long time, though, and said things hurt for the first few years–not just the implants, but the skin, the incision scars, drainage holes, and even phantom-type pain she felt “inside” her boobs. She also couldn’t wear a bra for two years because of the extreme sensitivity of the incisions, etc. So I withhold judgment. It’s a shitty situation, and more so when everyone is staring at your tits and making nasty comments all over the damn world.

Also, who gives a shit if she wears all black. That’s really worth criticizing? That’s just dumb. She likes black clothes–good for her. I wear whatever the hell I want to, as well (and yep, it’s often a whole lot of black…I feel cozy in black…and it matches everything!).

    • ANDREA1 says:

THEMUMMY.. Well said dear! Well said.

    • Rhea says:

      Nice post.

      • Camille (TheOriginal) says:

        Agree. Good post.

People could do with a little more perspective/empathy/sensitivity and a lot less projection/nastiness.

    • Tara says:

if it were a red carpet affair I would be so annoyed by the all black wardrobe but since when does any actress owe the public any explanation of what she wears in her off-time.

    • Blood&Sand says:

      Brilliant!

      Thank you themummy.

    • Liberty says:

      Nicely said.

    • XiuFetish says:

Thank you for your thoughtful post, themummy.

I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction late last year as I also have the BRCA gene mutation. I am finding these criticisms of Jolie’s breasts highly insensitive and disheartening.

Sure this is a gossip site, but is there not a line that’s crossed when we criticise post-operative bodies, when the surgery was undertaken for health rather than cosmetic reasons?

  33. The Original Mia says:

I wonder if Angie still has her surgery implants and sizers in. I know it was 2-3 months after I had my surgery when I got my permanent ones. And then I think…it’s her body and it’s truly none of my business.

Knox looks cute. Viv looks over the paps. I want a princess castle balloon.

  34. Nooneimportant says:

Knox looks so much like Shiloh with his short haircut.

  35. Kim1 says:

Oh @Sal the haters on another site are pissed that their petition to keep AJ from receiving her Oscar had less than a dozen signatures. She will receive her Oscar on November 14.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

(blinks) Are you serious? There is actually a petition out to keep Angie from getting her Oscar?

      Sad.

  36. Mira says:

Does she have two tattoos in Arabic on her right forearm? What do they say, anyone?

      • lenje says:

Oh wow, she has a lot! 🙂

      • chloe says:

She must have nerves of steel to get that tiger tattoo on her back, especially since it was done with the manual needle. I have a friend currently getting a full back tattoo of a family cross on her back and she’s been going for over a year because it is so detailed and after a couple of hours she can’t handle the pain anymore. She has some pretty cool tats.

      • Mira says:

Thanks, Eve. It does not say what the longer Arabic tattoo is on her right arm.

      • Eve says:

It does not? I believe it says (on that article) it means “Determination”. Some say it means “Strenght of Will” though (but that site claims that’s wrong).

But it’s certain that it was to cover up (a previous tattoo both she and Billy Bob got). This one:

        http://www.freetattoodesigns.org/images/jolie-tattoo.jpg

      • Mira says:

“Determination” or “Strength of Will” is the one-word tattoo. If you see the second picture, there’s a longer Arabic tattoo perpendicular to the Determination tattoo. Do you see it?

      • Eve says:

        No…

Wait, I see there’s something written (like, two lines of words or something) but I can’t figure out what language. This one must be new.

        Let me do some research.

EDIT: It’s her newest tattoo, but every single site I visited couldn’t even tell for sure if that was Arabic (let alone its meaning).

      • Mira says:

Ahhh….okay!!! Thank you. It does seem to be a new one. I’m surprised it hasn’t generated any attention.

  37. nicegirl says:

I hope she is well. best wishes for good health

  38. ANDREA1 says:

What’s up with the reply button it isn’t working or is it only Me?

  39. LL says:

Another day in Australia = another day Angelina is at her happiest without Pittstain and another day of Pittstain fans hating. Hehe

    🙂

  40. Maya says:

Wow – I didn’t know that people could be this despicable. Angelina had a major life changing operation early this year and yet people especially some women her on CB should be ashamed of calling themselves women.

First you waste of human space call her skeletal – insulting not only Angelina but only other women who cannot gain weight. Angelina has always had a skinny frame even when she was pregnant.

Secondly – you dare to attack her breasts after knowing that she had them reconstructed to prevent cancer? Let me tell you pathetic people that it can take upto a year before the swelling goes down and it will hurt like hell to wear a bra during that time as well.

In you attempt to write you hatred and attack Angeline on her look you are only showing the world what an ugly person you are. I am not talking about outer beauty but your inner one which reflects how you see people and your inner ugliness will one day show on your outer looks.

I am so glad that Angelina and her family members don’t read gossip or comments because you sad pathetic haters can turn someone into suicidal. I am also glad that the real people in the world loves this woman and they don’t read gossip.

  41. Kaboom says:

This probably has much more to do with these folks wanting to get in a room with her and then brag about it and using her to get attention for their pet project conservation charity than with real concern about environmental damage.

  42. bettyrose says:

Never too young for taco Tuesday. Is AJ producing this film? If not, it’s the studio they should be criticizing.

  43. ANDREA1 says:

So people talk as if they can create life.

  44. taxi says:

Why are nipples the topic of so many posts?

The article was about conservation & I appreciate Sloane Wyatt’s info about the aftermath of “The Beach.” That movie was on TV a couple of nights ago & I tried to watch it. Only managed about a third of it (too awful) but the scenery was gorgeous & it’s a tragedy that it was ruined.

Those of us who’ve had mastectomies (double for me, cancer) know that nipple results vary. Sometimes implants shift & have to be adjusted later. If AJ kept her own nipples, which cancer patients cannot do (arreolas-yes, nipples-no) they shouldn’t be any different now than before unless the implant shifted. This is probably not something she chose, since moving an implant requires another surgery. My surgery was 5 years ago, I didn’t bother with replacement nipples but my implants moved around before totally healing. I had 2 later surgeries to reposition an implant in order to have horizontal alignment. And after wearing nothing but underwires for decades, I still cannot wear them now. Drs advise no more underwires, ever.

I don’t think the nipple shade is either interesting or appropriate since the woman has accomplished a few other things with her life.

Back to conservation or family shopping trips with kids, please.

  45. Kay says:

Has it ever occurred to any of AJ’s fans that if they for ONCE ignore the comments made by her haters/non fans or whatever they call themselves-they would go away?Believe it or not, ignoring people who crave attention works everytime.

On other important matters;what i find disappointing is that my country which has very very rare cancer cases had soooo many people supporting and praising angelina(everyone knew about the mastectomy because it was surprisingly in our national newspapers) but a country that has many cancer cases had people(women for that matter) criticizing her-not her choice. Some even go ahead to criticize her post-surgery appearance.Wow just wow.

  46. miasys says:

Villainess Jolie – love it!! Why haven’t I noticed this before? Also, why does every AJ post turn into NippleGate? I continue to be amazed at the degree to which people obsess and eviscerate her over her breasts. It’s sick-making. I do think her arms are veiny, but I’m pretty sure she gives zero f*cks what I think about it, and honestly, it’s refreshing to me that she’s got a little flaw that makes her human like the rest of us.
Seriously, peeps. Enough about the nips.

  47. Pam noonan says:

Many doctors will not so nipple sparing mastectomies because there is no guarantee that they will be symmetrical after implant is put in. I also had bilateral mastectomy and my surgeon would not let me keep my nips. Also implant size is a guessing game. Everyone is built so differently that you shoot for your same bra size but without breast tissue you are just implant and skin so the shape is completely different.

  48. ANDREA1 says:

You know all these people complaining about her nipples and boobs do not have people who have had mastectomy and that is why they are So ignorant and insensitive am So glad people with the actual experience have said something worthwhile here. It is their opinion that counts not those who just sit and criticise when they don’t have a slightest idea of what it feels like.. This body shaming of people has to stop. No one has the power to create and give life.

  49. Mew says:

    Her boobs. Are. Huge.

  50. MegG says:

If they don’t want the national park damaged, can’t they just recreate it via studio/CGI?

  51. Faith says:

Those kids are cute!!!! Why must she always have everything?!Why?!!

  52. TwoHearts says:

The Queensland Govt have made a few decisions lately that conservationists are unhappy with – hence their reaction to this one. There are people who believe this government are more focused on profit that preserving our natural heritage and landmarks (eg the barrier reef). I would say that the conservationists are concerned that dollars won over sense (again) but this is getting publicity because it’s a movie star rather than a mining company.

  53. sharylmj says:

Knox is my favorite Jolie-Pitt kid… he’s so cute!! he is his dad’s mini me for sure!!…. i miss his longer hair though….
