Rachel Zoe isn’t worried about baby weight: ‘Being a mom is the best exercise’

Rachel Zoe

Back in June, we heard the news that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe was pregnant with her second child at age 41. Zoe’s been pretty low key since then, but the news was true. Over the weekend, Zoe (as shown above) stepped out at the Baby2Baby Gala (the one where Jessica Alba wore hot pink). She definitely looks preggers, but I never would have guess Zoe is almost ready to pop.

As Zoe told Us Weekly on the red carpet, she’s “literally” nine months pregnant! She’s carrying very lightly, but some women are lucky enough to do so. Zoe also said she’s not worried about the baby weight at all. *Cough*

Rachel Zoe will be welcoming her second child any day now! The 42-year-old fashion designer showed off her baby bump at nine months pregnant in a stunning strapless black gown at the second annual Baby2Baby Gala in Culver City, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 9. At the event, Zoe chatted with Us Weekly about nearing the end of her pregnancy and her plans to hide out until the baby is born.

“It’s wonderful. It’s great,” Zoe told Us of her second pregnancy. “I mean, I’m literally 9 months pregnant so this I think will probably be one of my last outings. I’m going into hibernation!”

“I’m tired,” she added. “It’s really hard to get really dressed up, but it’s like you do it when it’s important and tonight is really important.” (Baby2Baby is an organization that provides baby supplies and clothing to families in need in Los Angeles.)

Zoe is already mom to son Skyler, 2, with husband Rodger Berman. The celebrity stylist told Us that Skyler is finally getting excited about becoming a big brother. “I think he is getting there,” she explained. “He gets it that there is a baby inside me. It’s taken a while to get him there, but he is getting there.”

The second-time mom-to-be said she hasn’t set up the nursery yet because she’s “a little superstitious,” but she is planning what ensemble to wear to the hospital during labor.

“I am actually trying to plan that,” she shared. “I really am actually! You try to stay as chic as long as you can.” But when it comes to trying to lose the baby weight after her second child is born, the famously slim fashionista told Us she won’t be doing anything. “Nothing. Chase a toddler and be a mother,” she said. “Any new mother will tell you don’t have to exercise, you just have to be a mom. Being a mom is the best exercise!”

[From Us Weekly]

Oookay. I’ll buy that Rachel isn’t worried too much about postpartum exercise. Do I buy that she’s not planning on starving herself back to her pre-baby weight? Nope. That sounds cruel, but Nicole Richie’s not-so-blind item from the back in the day has stuck with me all these years. Rachel restricts her food, and everyone knows it.

Here’s an Instagrammed photo from Nicole at Rachel’s baby shower over the weekend (I guess they made up). Notice the blue table decor in the background. Is Rachel having another boy? Last time Rachel found out she was having a son, she cried for a week straight.

Here are Zoe and Skylar in Los Angeles on Monday. She’s totally trying to hide the bump with her purse, and it’s working.

She looks so much better with weight in her face in the top pic.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She does. She usually keeps herself so thin that it ages her. She looks pretty pregnant with a little more weight.

    • Stef Leppard says:

Her face is definitely benefitting from this pregnancy. She’s less leathery.

  2. Hannah says:

    No one believes you, Rachel.

  3. BRE says:

On her show the complained about hating the color pink so perhaps that is why the shower has blue, I sure hope she gets a girl. I agree she has some issues with food but I love the relationship between her and her husband, they same so sweet together.

    • emmie_a says:

Don’t know how true this is but I read yesterday that she is having another boy…

    • An says:

There were balloons at the baby shower with the letters B, O and Y so it’s safe to assume she’s having another boy. 🙂

  4. Tessa says:

Her son is a little doll. And Rachel, like Victoria Beckham, is an old professional. Baby weight? I just won’t eat for a month. That’ll fix it.

  5. Elisabeth says:

i hear she was having another boy

  6. Meow Mix says:

    B*tch, please…

  7. Viv says:

It’s a lil sad that she only looks like a healthy beautiful person when she is pregnant. She was positively glowing at 9 months when she was pregnant with the first baby. Her face was looking normal and less wrinkly. Sadly, I think she will be going back to her raisin-face ways pretty soon.

  8. Bodhi says:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *wipes tears from eye*

That was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Of COURSE she doesn’t worry about PP weight loss. I bet she eats EXACTLY the recommended calories for a pregnant woman & not a bite more.

  9. Bridget says:

No, every new mother does not know that. In fact, many are very disappointed that its one of the great myths about parenthood, because it turns out its hard work to balance a new person and exercise. But what I think bothers me the most is that it feels like Zoe is using a statement like that to camoflauge her disordered eating.

They made up? Is that why Nicole looks anorexic lately?

    • bluecalling says:

Nah… More likely Nicole needs someone to steal ideas from, mimic and then bad-mouth like the heartless b we know and (some) love that she is

  11. MeowuiRose says:

I love Rachel Zoe even though she has some serious body image and food issues. I think it’s so endearing how much her husband loves her but it makes me wonder if he likes her thin frail body or tries to help her with her “suspected” eating disorder. I always wish she would wear more color.

  12. nicegirl says:

Wow, that baby weight sure agrees with her. She looks so pretty. CONGRATULATIONS on the upcoming arrival!

Don’t lie, being a mom is not the best exercise and its equally bad in terms of healthy eating. Long periods of running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, mindless eating whenever you have a free minute, and then collapsing on the couch with some comfort food once the kids are in bed… pretty horrid if you ask me. This is why women think having babies makes them fat. Do I sound bitter? Haha. I just know the ridiculous amount of effort and pre-planning it takes to make sure I hit the basic things in life like clean eating at normal intervals and committed exercise times.

  14. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Rachel’s got the same eye colour as Nicole Ritchie.

  15. Lisa says:

She’s not wrong. I scoffed at mothers who said they just ran after their kids all day, until I became an aunt to twins. Babies keep you moving!

  16. Brenda says:

“I’m tired,” she added. “It’s really hard to get really dressed up,

Yeah Rachel, it’s hard to put on your fake prosthetic bump and try to fool everyone you are really pregnant like you did the first time. If she is truly pregnant, then pigs certainly WILL FLY.

  17. maxipes says:

The kid looks sooo sad! Look the way she holds his tiny hand on the two pics and she´s smiling??
