Jessica Hart shades Taylor Swift, claims Swifty ‘didn’t fit’ with the VS models

wenn20850600

Oh noes. It looks like this year’s Victoria’s Secret was even more of a hotbed of girl-drama than I originally suspected. I thought this year’s big performer, Taylor Swift, was only going to have girl-drama with Cara Delevingne, but it looks like Swifty managed to alienate someone completely new. Have you ever heard of a model named Jessica Hart? I’ve heard of her before, but like so many Behatis, Erins, Annes and Ninas, Jessica’s face sort of blended in with all the other models these days. Well, it seems like Jessica Hart had a problem with just the IDEA of Taylor Swift on the main stage at the Vicky’s runway show. Ouch.

Oh, snap! Lily Aldridge, Erin Heatherton, and Cara Delevingne might have been thrilled to share the runway with bestie Taylor Swift at Victoria’s Secret’s annual fashion show, but at least one lingerie model thought the singer was out of place at the event: Australian bombshell Jessica Hart.

The 27-year-old stunner shared her opinion of Swift during the show’s after-party at New York City hotspot Tao on Nov. 13. Asked by WWD if the leggy “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer could “pull it off as a Victoria’s Secret model,” Hart replied bluntly, “No.”

“I think, you know what, God bless her heart. I think she’s great,” the runway diva elaborated. “But I don’t know, to me, she didn’t fit. I don’t know if I should say that.”

Too late! So what exactly do she and the other VS models have that Swift, 23, doesn’t?

“I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we’ve been working for 14, 15 years; what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself,” Hart explained. “I think it comes with age. It’s definitely the benchmark of all jobs.”

Karlie Kloss, for one, might disagree. “She and I need to be best friends!” the 21-year-old catwalker gushed to Us Weekly of Swift, who performed “I Knew You Were Trouble” during the show’s finale and boogied alongside the lingerie-clad models onstage. (She also joined Fall Out Boy during the opening sequence of the runway event.)

“I think she’s the coolest young girl,” Kloss continued. “She’s a great role model, and I love her music. It’s happening. I mean, girl power.”

Aldridge shared a similar sentiment. “We had a little moment at the end of her song ‘Trouble,’ where we walked in front of the stage together,” the 28-year-old supermodel told Us of the “Red” singer. “[Taylor] is one of my best friends, so we had so much fun.”

[From Us Weekly]

So, Jessica Hart is 27 years old and she’s complaining about how a 23-year-old singer (one of the most successful singers out there right now) doesn’t have the seniority, confidence or work history to be able to stand on the runway at the Victoria’s Secret show? OUCH. Good lord. You know me, I’m not a knee-jerk defender of Taylor Swift, but this Jessica Hart woman sounds like a tool. It sounds like she’s saying Swift didn’t belong on the runway because Swift isn’t a very good model. Okay, and? Taylor wasn’t there to “model” – she was there to sing! And besides that, Taylor looked like all the models – Swifty is tall, leggy, etc.

Anyway, Edward Razek, the Victoria’s Secret chief marketing officer, told Us Weekly that Jessica didn’t mean to say what she said and anyway she didn’t even say it. Or something. Razek tells Us Weekly: “I have personally been in contact with Jessica Hart and she said she was ‘wildly misinterpreted’ and that she thought Taylor was ‘amazing. She is stunned that anyone would think differently. And that’s something we can all agree on. I can tell you that everyone at Victoria’s Secret was blown away by Taylor’s performance. She could not be more beautiful or talented, that we felt extremely lucky to have her, and that she is welcome back to do the show anytime she wants… She is as good and strong and powerful and beautiful an artist as I’ve ever come across.” And on and on – you can read his full statement here. I don’t know you guys, I think Jessica knew what she was saying and she meant it at the time and she really is just that snotty.

Who would care what some B list VS model says about anything. She is kinda fug and frankly Swifty is so much prettier and successful then that woman could ever hope to be.

Swifty may annoy people but there is no denying the girl works her tail off and is hugely successful.

    • PHD Gossip says:

jessica was looking for some publicity for herself. We call that famewhoring 101. Hope Vicky dumps her for that stunt – she is kinda bland anyway.

    • eliza says:

      “Than” not “Then”. Whoopsie.

    • bluhare says:

Fugly models have a right to an opinion as well.

      • cs says:

No they don’t if they are working for a brand or company. It’s no different if I shaded the guest to the local press that my company provided for a company function. I would be called in and reprimanded by my manager early Monday morning.
She’s entitled to her opinion if Taylor was performing at the Grammy’s or any other award show but not as a guest that my company provided.
Your opinions are shared with your family, friends and co-workers… Not the press.

    • Dommy Dearest says:

Yeah but have you seen the images of Swift? Tell me she wasn’t trying to strike a ‘fierce’ pose and walk the same way the models were. Cause to my eyes she was indeed. Why try to blend into a crowd of toothpick legs when she can be up there with actual talent that is singing? Not a Swift fan but I do think she’s more talented than these models BUT she was trying to pose and walk in the way the models were.

  2. Talie says:

Jessica has habit if this, check her page six archives.. she dates Paris Hilton’s ex, too. So, that speaks vumes.

  3. The Original Original says:

OMG she is ugly! She does not look like a model. Just Nope. Although Taylor has her little girl image/dating issues, I think she is a beautiful woman. Much more beautiful than this Hart woman, who I have never heard of.

    • Denise says:

She doesn’t look like a model at all, she looks much older than her age and what’s the saying….rode hard and put back wet? More like a girl at the club who models with the local agency and does mall gigs. Considering how many stunning girls there are out there in the world, when I see this I have to wonder how she got her job.

    • Becky1 says:

Her comment about Taylor Swift was rude and obnoxious but she’s very far from ugly. What model is ugly? I’ve yet to see an ugly model. I think a lot of people out there would love to be as “ugly” looking as this girl-I know I would (although I wouldn’t want her personality).

      • emmie_a says:

Well beauty is subjective but there are ugly models. A lot of runway models are models bc they are tall and super thin and clothes look good on their bodies – but they don’t have the most attractive faces (& they don’t have to be the prettiest girl because the clothes are supposed to be the focal point, not their face.)

  4. Gossy says:

The funny thing is, is that facially Taylor is actually better looking than Jessica.

    • Zbornak Syndrome says:

That my dear, is why she made that catty comment. She was probably expecting/preferred a male performer. This young woman is in the wrong industry if she can’t handle competition!

Just a thought off topic: It’s so sad that Leann Rimes career didn’t go ANYWHERE NEAR as far as Taylor’s. They both came up around the same age I think. Poor management (money hungry family), and Leann’s spoiled ways, prevented and stunted her career. It’s a shame, but also VERY telling as Leann had a lot of talent.

      • LadySlippers says:

Agreed. LeAnn, in her heyday, was amazing.

It shows how to properly handle child stars too. And this is played out with other child stars that make it (Brooke Shields, Emma Watson, etc.) or others that tend to have numerous issues (Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cryus etc.).

      • Jessica says:

Leann Rimes actually started when she was much younger than Taylor Swift was when she started (if I remember correctly).

    • KC says:

She really isn’t (prettier than Hart). Have you seen Taylor Swift without her standard 15 lbs of makeup? Horror show.

      • Hootysgram says:

KC…you need your eyes checked. Her features are PERFECT! The Hart chic is a dawg! Looks like a boy…giant gap in her teeth..and a Silly Putty nose. GET your specs on KC…Taylor is BEau-t-ful…great figure…great legs…gorgeous hair, smile, teeth…eyes…perfect nose. Look at ANY woman without makeup and there is a difference…but when you have the features and overall look Taylor has..you CAN’T possibly lose!

      • Dommy Dearest says:

Taylor, who let you on a computer?

      • tru says:

I agree KC, she really isn’t prettier than Jessica. And it’s not that Taylor’s not attractive in her own way, but I wouldn’t say her features are “perfect” either. She is almost never seen without a full face of makeup, she always wears her hair straightened (which I would guess must be done permanently as she has very curly hair naturally, she’s 100% had breast implants (very subtle but they’re quite obvious to me), and she has quite small eyes that are usually enhanced by a good makeup artist.

I know a lot of people think Taylor would make a good model (being tall and thin), but if you ever see her in motion dancing she’s incredibly awkward and uncoordinated. Especially when she’s trying to be “sexy”. I refer to her dancing at the VMA’s to Justin Timberlake’s performance as exhibit A.

    • lana86 says:

both of them are rather ordinarily looking girls. But Swift has other assets.

  5. Liv says:

“I don’t know if I should say that.”

Yeah, probably not. Is she jealous or what? I thought Swift did fit in just fine. And it’s pretty bold of Hart to question the choice of her employer publicly. Good luck for being a part of it next year, girl!

  6. Apsutter says:

I’m not even a Taylor fan but what a snotty and catty comment. She’s not a professional model so what did she expect from her. She did a great job and is tall and leggy just like the “real” models and I think her bod looked better than those girls anyways.

    • LeLe25 says:

I agree on all accounts. I’m not a big Taylor Swift fan, but she looked great up there; better than some of the models! IMO her presence really underscored that these tall, thin beauties are not the norm, and their bodies looked a little awkward next to Taylor’s.

    • cs says:

Of course she’s not.. She’s 27 and no one heard of her before. Isn’t 27 pretty old in the modeling industry to be an unknown?

    • Amanda_M87 says:

I agree. What does this Jessica girl expect from Taylor anyway? I’m no Taylor fan either but come on.

  7. Tessa says:

Taylor is just as hot as a VS model and would fit right in. She’s got the bod and the look. They should hire her for a special promo. It’d be a big deal.

    • janie says:

Taylor could be a model any day of the week. She’s tall, slender & legs that are gorgeous! The difference in her &’the ditzy model, is Taylor has talent, this gal is close to being too old to model! Careful what you say.

    • Hootysgram says:

She’s done a LOT of cover shoots too for magazines and she was stunning on all of them. When’s the last time you even heard of this Jessica being on the cover of anything? Jealousy at it’s finest.

  8. Megan says:

I’m not a huge TS follower, but wasn’t her first hit song when she was 15 or 16? So she must have been working for at least a year before that. Sorry Jessica, that a 23 year old who has been consistently working for the last 9 years doesn’t meet your standards for the VS fashion show

    • LadySlippers says:

TS was ‘found’ even before she made it big. She signed w/ a major label but was asked to sit & mature. TS walked out on that deal and found another and the rest is history. So yeah, this young women DOES know how to work.

(My daughter is a huge Swiftie)

      • Apsutter says:

Yup…plus she toured with pretty much all the huge country stars when she was a teen before she was a huge star herself. Swiftie has put in the work and earned her career and I’m sure she had to a lot more work than what models have to do. It’s just sooooo hard to pose and walk 😒

  9. Marianne says:

It seems to me that Jessica Hart is just looking for some attention to get her name out in the press.

  10. Pam246 says:

The question and answer doesn’t even make sense to me. Taylor was there to sing not model.

  11. sara says:

OMG, that model is so not attractive! I’m not a huge Swift fan but she is so much prettier than that fully model. I think they need to have higher standards for their models since they are supposed to be the most sexy! I’m no t normally so catty about other women’s looks but someone needs to be knocked down a peg!

  12. T.fanty says:

I guess this is why Miranda Kerr feels the need to photoshop her Instagram. What a terrible and ugly group of people these women are.

  13. DiamondGirl says:

“Jessica didn’t mean to say what she said and anyway she didn’t even say it. “.

Hilarious! That’s exactly how they sound when they try to backtrack.

  14. ncboudicca says:

Taylor Swift’s body is better than any of the models’. She actually has muscle definition.

I curse this model for forcing me to say something nice about Swifty.

  15. KinChicago says:

Wow, someone is going find her VS contract has been annihilated faster than if she slept with a Bieber.

  16. bettyrose says:

It must be exhausting to work in an industry that pits you against other successful women.

    • LadySlippers says:

I agree. And why/how we the people continue to support that (and other crap the modeling industry does) doesn’t paint us in the best light either.

      • bluhare says:

I agree with you. According to comments here if you aren’t prettier than the person making the comment you’ve got nothing.

  17. Jackson says:

I’m sure this catty, not-terribly-attractive-for-a-model woman was just thrilled with Justin Bieber as the musical guest last year? Of course she knew what she was saying. I’m always a little appalled when an adult can’t string together a few innocuous sentences when asked a question like she was asked. Nope, gotta bring out the claws.

  18. BelleSA says:

    The benchmark of all jobs?
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  19. klue says:

Your not being paid for your opinions. So shut up and walk

  20. Monkey Towz says:

    An arrogant, self-absorbed super-model…Shocking.

  21. Dyllish says:

I just checked out some pics of this Jessica person on google & If I didnt know either of them before & was asked to choose who the model is, I’ll definitely go with Taylor. This girl needs to shut her mouth & not use TS as a means of getting attention. I’m not a TS fan but she really held her own among those models. She looked beautiful, her outfits were nice & her performance was good.

  22. GIRLFACE says:

To me, that came off as good old fashioned age-fueled jealousy. Insecure women don’t like women who are any combination of younger, more attractive, more successful or more confident than they are-it can bring out the claws.

  23. gogoGorilla says:

I think she means Taylor doesn’t look like she spent the last three months eating nothing except cotton balls.

  24. NerdMomma says:

To be fair, the question posed to the model was whether Taylor Swift would fit in as a model. She wasn’t asked whether or not Taylor should’ve been there that night. I don’t have a problem with a fashion model defending her profession as having more to it than simply looks. I’ve heard models say similar things before- that it’s not just posing, it’s harder than it looks, etc. That’s how I read her comments, not as cattiness at all.

    • agentscully says:

ITA. That’s exactly how I read her comment – she was asked if she thought Taylor would make a good VS model, and she gave her opinion. I don’t think she was trying to “shade” her at all. And honestly, I have to agree with her. I’m assuming she was asked because Taylor is tall and lithe, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to good model material.

    • bluhare says:

      Amen, NerdMomma.

      • Kim1 says:

ITA with her Taylor is not model material.Just because a woman is slender and cute doesn’t mean she can be a Runway Model

    • emmie_a says:

Jessica sounds catty and jealous bc how can she judge Taylor as a model when Taylor wasn’t modeling? She was there to sing. And even if Taylor was trying to be more model-like in this endeavor, again, singing was her first priority and was Jessica a perfect model the first time she tried? I highly doubt it. I’m sure she wasn’t as polished or confident or model-like 13 years ago when she started out. So for her to blurt out a decisive “no” to the question makes her sound jealous/catty.

    • tru says:

Completely agree NerdMomma. Jessica was asked if Taylor could be a model. She answered truthfully. This is reminding me of Lorde speaking bluntly but honestly and being viewed as catty. Maybe it’s just a cultural difference from the United States, and Australia and New Zealand (Jessica is Australian). The bluntness might be unnecessary but I don’t find it offensive.

  25. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’ve never understood why the Victoria Secret show gets so much attention from the fashion industry. I think it’s ridiculous looking with the wings and halos and cheap underwear that falls apart after 5 washings. Ok, I bought some once. Don’t judge me.

    • Tulip Garden says:

Until I read your comment, it never occurred to me that the fashion industry takes this show seriously! Do they? That is hilarious. I thought it was just a giant publicity push for VS, models, and one singer every year….and a chance for Leo to pick out his next girlfriend!

      • Jessica says:

“and a chance for Leo to pick out his next girlfriend!” — LOL. Too true.

      • agentscully says:

Hahaha @ your comment about Leo! Reminds me how Michael K from DListed calls it the annual parade of Leo’s past and future girlfriends, or something along those lines.

    • Snarkweek says:

Too funny! Ita with you. I was way into VS in college but they really suck now. I put on my big girl pants and discovered La Perla.

      • Apsutter says:

Yea their undergarments are horrible but they sell really nice clothes. I’ve bought sweaters, coats, shoes and more from them that have lasted for a long time.

    • tru says:

I was just thinking this too. And a lot of young models (and established models) seem to view the Victoria Secret show as the pinnacle of their career. Modelling cheap underwear with wings on. Odd.

  26. emmie_a says:

I think, you know what, God Bless YOU Jessica for being ignorant. Taylor wasn’t there to model so she didn’t have to fit your vision of how a model should look.
The irony of this is Taylor looked like she DID fit in. When you see her next to the models, she looks like one herself.

  27. HotPockets says:

I can’t even believe this woman is a model, let alone a VS model, which is very exclusive in the modeling industry. She is not appealing, nor sexy and her attitude is horrible.

  28. loveisthecoal says:

Taylor looks to me like she has maybe gained a tiny bit of much-needed (IMHO) weight. Body-wise, I think she looks BETTER than most of the models. Meanwhile, I’ve never heard of this Jessica person before now, and I’m sure that’s why she sounds so jealous and catty.

  29. Kelly says:

But she’s right. Taylor looks so out of place there, especially in the video, the photos hide it a bit. The models are strutting the sexy while Taylor does robot movements and keeps readjusting herself awkwardly like a lost grasshopper. She’s got the looks but not the presence and confidence of the other models.

    • emmie_a says:

She doesn’t have the presence & confidence of the other models because she isn’t a model! Jessica had been modeling for 13 years (I think) – do you think she was the perfect model the first time she modeled? No. So why do you expect Taylor to be a perfect runway model when she has never walked a runway or done the VS show before? …And this is exactly why Jessica’s comments seem catty or driven by jealousy. How can she make a judgement about a non-model’s possible modeling abilities when that person is a total amateur?

  30. Megan says:

I think she meant that Taylor doesn’t have the beauty/body to be a VS model. Which she doesn’t lol, but it was still a bitchy thing to say!

    • eliza says:

I wasn’t aware she was trying to be a VS model. Swift was there to perform. Was Bieber truing to be a model when her performed last year? No, he was there (unfortunately) to perform.

Swift is, in my opinion, e ery bit as attractive as those other women, especially the one throwing the unnecessary shade.

  31. KC says:

    I agree with Jessica, actually.

  32. lucy2 says:

While I can see her attempting to defend what she does as more than walking around in underwear, saying Taylor “didn’t fit” is not good. Taylor was there to sing.

  33. cowgirl27 says:

Very sad to see this so-called VS model take low road and trash one of the most talented singers of our times (and I am NOT a Swifty fan but she is winning the awards and selling the albums)! This Jessica girl is gap toothed (some find it attracive) and no where near as naturally pretty as Taylor. And…Taylor is younger which has to be a sore spot to this older model whose days must be waning….sorry if the truth hurts – but it is Jessica who threw the first stone when she lives in a glass house. How about sticking up for each other instead of always trashing each other ladies? Until that happens I will call it fair game and go tit-for-tat and call it like I see it. Taylor puts Jessica to shame and she earns more money, has more fame, and held her own, had a higher billing, etc. Shut the hell up and walk the catwalk as some nameless piece of a** and get your $20 at the end of the night. Nobody even knew who you were until you trash talked Taylor. So your 20 minutes are over! Next!!!

  34. Ginger says:

To me it sounds like a snarky comment from someone who is obviously threatened by Swifty. And I’m certain a runway model would be since Taylor is both talented and beautiful. I’m not a fan of her music at all but she looks like she fits in just fine from the photos. There’s a reason why Taylor wins all of these beauty contracts and is consistently used in both TV spots and in print, because she’s gorgeous and popular (although she’s not really my cup of tea, I can’t deny the fact that she is conventionally pretty.)

  35. Xantha says:

When I heard this my first thought was “Oh honey no.” Not because I disagreed, but I knew what was coming. All Jessica Hart did was open herself up for the “She’s just jealous” “This bitch needs to shut up!” “She’s not all that pretty” and make jokes like “How difficult could it be to model? Just have an eating disorder.” like someone on another blog.

She was asked if she thought Taylor could be a model. She gave an answer that was honest for her and tried to back it up.
    http://www.wwd.com/eye/parties/crushing-on-angels-at-the-victorias-secret-after-party-7277648

And I’m not sure why VS is trying to backpedal. VS is a multibillion dollar corporation that doesn’t need Taylor Swift or any nonmodel star for sales. They’ll be fine and so will Taylor. I guess I don’t see the big fuss.

    • aquarius64 says:

My guess is VS corporate got a TON of phone and on-line complaints from Swifties. The chief marketing officer was the one that put out the statement. Remember that clothing line that put out a t-shirt that clowned Swift’s dating history; and how fast the company had to pull it off the racks because the ire raised by Swift fans? This was damage control by VS; and this model may have damaged her career from this point out because of that statement.

    • EarlGreyer says:

Really? Of course Victoria’s Secret would do damage control. THEY went to Swift, THEY asked her to be their feature performer. To have their own employees bash T. Swift makes them look bad.

It’s common (business) sense: don’t look bad and don’t burn bridges. Especially when it’s someone as wholesome and objectively popular as T. Swift – whose fan base is a huge portion of VS’s demographic.

      • Apsutter says:

Exactly. Plus the reporter was there for a freaking fashion shows and asked a soft ball question! It’s not like they were really assessing Swifty’s modeling potential, I mean…come on. “Hey unknown Vicky’s model do you think the star of the show you were just hired for could be a model?” Answer- Yea, she did a great job and really got along with the girls. It’s not freaking rocket science and PR 101

  36. paranormalgirl says:

…and I’m sure Jessica Hart couldn’t sell out an arena for a concert.

  37. cs says:

What’s so interesting is that VS will probably have a higher TV viewership this year. People will now watch to see if Taylor is Model worthy.

  38. Theresa says:

I totally agree with the observation that WWD misrepresented what this model meant and edited the piece knowing it would get a big reaction, when it was simply a rather clinical and too serious observation of something rather innocuous. Too bad Hart didn’t handle it a bit differently, instead of being defensive. It would have been so much more diplomatic if she could have acknowledged that Taylor is a pretty girl, but so much better off to be recognized for her abilities as a performer. And that it is a lot harder walking the runway than people think, blah blah blah, but Taylor’s great and we love having her with us! Everyone wins!!

Nope, it sells better if someone shades someone, or there’s a catty angle in this catty business. Happy doesn’t sell, right? Hart kind of put herself in the naughty corner with her attitude, but I am sure WWD was more than happy to spin it as a girlfight! VS’ clarification of the piece is totally valid, made sense to me.

Looks like the night was wildly successful, Swift was a good fit for the venue, too bad someone had to try and rain on the parade, hoping and succeeding to keep people talking…

  39. Algernon says:

I actually think Taylor Swift would make a really good model. She’s tall, has a great figure, and, most importantly, her face isn’t instantly forgettable. She isn’t a classic beauty but I think she has striking features and looks good without makeup but also can wear makeup very well. So many models just look the same now, she would really stand out. I think this is why Cara Delevigne is a thing now, too. You might not think she’s pretty, or looks like an “angry baby”, which always makes me laugh, but she is distinctive. (For the record, I like Cara Delevigne and think she is striking and will likely age well, given her bone structure. She will probably be prettier at 30 than she was at 20.)

  40. vvvoid says:

This makes no sense to me. Did Taylor model something or perform music? And my goodness, “bless her heart” is one of the best ways to really throw shade, lol. She must be from the south, we in the south know how to wield that phrase with brutal efficacy. But her commentary made no sense. Is she saying Swift’s music wasn’t a fit, or her aesthetic, or what? And was she saying Taylor didn’t seem confident enough, and that it’s because she’s young? I didn’t see the show, because the last thing I’m going to waste my time on is a bunch of lollipop figures [seriously, I want to oogle lingerie models with sexy bodies, not bone racks marching around in unsexy retarded costumes], but Taylor does have a tendency to seem a little bit self-conscious on stage. She seems like someone who is trying to come off as naturally confident as Beyonce when she performs, but you can see her questioning herself in a lot of her movements. I think this is mostly due to her being a singer-songwriter at heart who for some reason has recently decided to attempt being a choreography-laden, more sexualized pop star and neither of those things come naturally to her. What I’m saying is that sometimes she seems a little awkward lately, a little try-hard in her performances. And just from the photos I can tell she felt somewhat uncomfortable and unsure of herself at the VS show.

    • Dtown30 says:

Thank you! As a Southerner, the part which struck me most was the “bless her heart” business. I’m pretty sure this model person (I’ve never heard of her before, but I don’t really ‘follow’ modeling) is actually from Australia, but my word! Even my friends from both coasts and from abroad know “bless her heart” is the Southern way to cushion an insult. I’m no TS fan, but she’s a Southern gal who will catch that snub too.
“Bless her heart, that model should have seen a good orthodontist as a child.” 🙂

      • Lex says:

Noone I know in Australia uses the phrase that way, it is a good intentioned comment generally. Not to say that this model (who I have never ever seen mentioned in Australian press except for in relation to these comments) intended to be nice… in the context it does seem fairly derogatory.

  41. cs says:

there’s only been 3 women in the last 15 years that I knew would blow-up internationally. Angelina Jolie, Rihanna and Taylor Swift.. There was just something about them.

  42. Carolyn says:

Aw this is just the VS PR juggernaut…nothing to see here..move on.

VS lingerie and their fragrances are still awful no matter how many (ahem) “supermodels” walk the runway. This show gets more vapid and stoopid as time goes on.

  43. Loulou says:

Well, the question WAS “could Swift make it as a VS model”? So, in that respect Hart was right. It’s not because you’re famous that you can cross over genres. That’s an American concept and it fails badly, often. Country singers are country singers – models are models. If Hart picked up a mike at the CMAs and started singing then a real singer threw shade…? See, apples and pears.

  44. themummy says:

This lady seems petty and jealous. I actually was struck by how much Swifty blended in with them all. I think she’d do fine. She’s annoying as all hell and probably a little crazy, but she is tall, leggy, beautiful, and charismatic.

  45. TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

I’m not going to defend this vs model but Swifty is not talented not as a singer and certainly not as a guitarist; her live unedited singing voice is subpar, she can’t play the guitar, and her daddy bought her into the biz. Has everyone drunk the Kool-Aid. SHe is a corporate industry creation, and her “music” is generic and forgettable. How many times does it have to be said that sales and popularity don’t equal quality. A few weeks ago PBS had a two hour special on an American original Jimi Hendrix. That’s talent, not swifty’s drivel. Remember, from 1997-2000 the Spice Girls ruled pop music, and where are they now – forgotten. THat will be swifty in ten years, while Jimi set the standard and continues to influence guitarists (Mike Mcready of Pearl Jam,etc.), worldwide. Swifty’s talent is her marketing machine, she’s moves product, she creates nothing that will last and inspire future generations of musicians.
Ask yourself if this twit’s music is so good, why does she exploit every marketing opportunity? Because she knows it can’t stand on it’s own. You don’t see Bob Dylan and his neverending tour appearing in crap like this VS show.
Any high school talent show has singers and guitarists far more talented than swifty, their performances are all over youtube, and many play Jimi.

    • chalkdustgirl says:

You have just described over 1/2 of the music industry, sadly.

    • eliza says:

While Swift is not my cup of tea, she has a hugely successful career that makes her fans happy. Doesn’t matter what her level of talent is or that she is an industry creation, people like her. Comparing her to Hendrix and Dylan is just plain silly, as is asking if you would ever see Dylan performing on a VS fashion show for tv.

I apologize but I just don’t understand why people are so resentful of her career. Traditionally good artists have never had the appeal of performers like Taylor Swift and you know why? Teenagers and Tweens are dpending the money and very few teenagers are going to be enjoying Dylanesque type of music over catchy bubble gum pop. Hate the game. Not the player.

      • TheOneandOnlyOnly says:

Do you realize what you’re saying eliza; if talent level really doesn’t matter then we should all be “pop stars.” if that’s the case hell Rebecca Black of the awful Friday song is equal to Barbara Streisand in talent.
No, what you’re saying is talent is largely irrelevant, fakery is okay, and sales are all that matter.
You’re also forgetting that teens in the past supported great music – it was teens that supported bands like led zeppelin – you’re comments pertain more to today’s teens than previous generations.
Also, the player is a willing participant in the game; there’s no reason to separate them.
Finally i’ll bet Taylor Swift and her team laugh their asses off behind the scenes as they know full well how contrived and calculated their strategy is.

  46. Jennifer says:

Maybe Jessica should do something about that gap- it’s big enough to drive a truck through- before she starts criticizing anyone else.

  47. hmmm says:

I was surprised they chose Taylor Swift as well for this gig. She is very “look at me” and the point is to look at the models.

  48. Sasha says:

Can we talk about the fact that “girl power” is being seen as girls dressed scantily (actually, often dressed as LITTLE girls at VS shows) and parading around or singing? LIke really. 2013. I feel like the VS show is such a joke. These women are silent and naked as millions of people tune in. It’s SO weird.

  49. emmie_a says:

This is a little off-subject but I just came across this quote from Ed Razek, VS CCO (the guy defending Jessica). It totally made me roll my eyes. Might explain why some VS models have over-inflated egos…

“Some of these Angels have walked nine, 10 or 12 shows, and to be able to do that you have to be in top physical condition.…Angels like Adriana train throughout the year, just as any world-class athlete would. The Summer Olympics has 10,500 athletes, the NFL has 1,760, MLB has 600 and the NBA has 400. Victoria’s Secret, which is the hardest show in the world to get booked for, has 40 word-class models who are also athletes,” stated Razek.

    • paranormalgirl says:

OMG, that’s one of the biggest loads of shite I have ever read.

    • Evi says:

They probably get the energy to walk, after starving themselves, after snorting a few lines. The idea that these girls are in any great condition is a joke. Just because someone is thin doesn’t mean that they’re fit. Most of them smoke [Cara, for example, who was also busted with suspicious looking plastic packets dropping out of her pocket].

  50. Jazzy says:

Jess is working for a prominent company, to criticise a guest like that was really unprofessional and bitchy. Jealousy most likely, Taylor probably got paid a hell of a lot more, got more coverage and had more fans than her. How hard is it to say “yes Taylor could be a model she is gorgeous” whether she meant it or not, its not like they are going to give Taylor a contract anyway if it wasnt a publicity stunt for her to get her name in the headlines then she is just another dumb model who hopefully doesn’t get to be called an Angel, I bet the VS exc was fuming he had to defend her like that. Check Jess’s twitter followers compared to Taylors a big difference there

  51. Evi says:

Jessica Hart’s claim to fame is dating Paris Hilton’s ex, Stavros Niarchos. Before that, she was a department store model for Myer and lower in rank than Jennifer Hawkins [former Miss Universe].
Why is it that these VS models think they are the sh#$%t?

  52. Caroline says:

    Who is she?
A model who is past her prime (almost 30), with no notoriety and a boyfriend who won’t marry her. Bitter much?

  53. nicegirl says:

I sure do love me some TAY TAY. I think she is AWESOME. I have loved her since she was that beautiful girl in the guitar teardrops song video and her song MEAN is one of my JAMS. I crooned the heck out of it on the way to my 20th reunion – I’m, like, OLD, and I think she is absolutely fabulous. GIRL POWER

  54. Fan says:

I thought she fit very well. She is just as tall as the models and her legs are just as long. I thought to myself when I first saw her pictures with the models that she could be mistaken as one of them just to read the next day that she did not fit. ??????

  55. CDB says:

Jessica Hart is the same girl who has stated before that average guys, who aren’t rich, shouldn’t even bother approaching models because they don’t stand a chance with them. Basically, she’s a conceited and arrogant b****. Modeling..a benchmark of excellence?! HAHAHA. right.
