Sarah Palin’s RNC shoes go for $2,205 on eBay

sarahpalinheader
Sarah Palin was lauded for her style when she first hit the scene as the unexpected Republican Vice Presidential candidate. Women were copying her RNC look from the sexy red peep toe pumps she wore to her updo and smart-looking glasses.

The pumps Palin wore to the Republican National Convention, a brand also favored by Paris Hilton called Naughty Monkey, were recently auctioned off on eBay by a seller claiming to be her niece. The winner will also also take home some autographed photos of the Alaskan governor and has the option to have the shoes autographed. These shoes were purchased by Palin in Juneau and are not part of the six figure wardrobe that caused a scandal when the news broke that her designer clothing was bankrolled by the RNC.

Up for bid are thee actual Red Naughty Monkey Heels owned/worn by Sarah Palin. I got the shoes from Aunt Sarah after mentioning that I liked them. They dont fit to well, so I decided to let someone else enjoy them. These are the exact heels that made headlines. If you search “Sarah Palin’s Red Shoes” on a serach engine, you will find multiple blogs, articles, and stories on these shoes. You could own a piece of history!!! The shoes are NOT autographed, but the buyer has the option of having them autographed!! I included pictures of the shoes, the autographed pictures, the Sharpie pen, and me and my aunt (just taken a couple days ago).

The shoes, which retail for around $85 to $90, went for $2,205 on the auction site. There’s no word yet what Sarah’s niece is going to do with the money or if her aunt approved the sale.

The RNC has been criticized for failing to donate Palin’s campaign clothing to charity, as they promised to do when the news came out that her clothing was paid for by the party. A charity auction expert recommends that the RNC auction off the rest of Palin’s clothing in order to maximize profits for a good cause:

Says Modi Frank–who runs Giving Engine, which manages auctions for non-profits and schools using EBay as a platform: “If this is indication of the vaue of her clothing, then the RNC should definitely begin auctioning off her clothes for charity, since charities are really hurting in this economy, and it would be a wonderful cause-marketing for Palin as well.”

[From Firedoglake]

We’ll have to see if that ever happens, but it seems like the RNC has other things to worry about at this point than what they’re going to do with Palin’s clothes.

Here are some photos from eBay and screenshots of the auction.

Have they been re-heeled or are they completely different shoes? The ones for sale look like they have a chunkier heel in a darker colour than the one’s photographed on Palin. Or maybe it’s just the poorly-lit photos.

Own a piece of history indeed!

  2. Mairead says:

Yep – pretty sure they’re two different heels. the one for sale has a wooden block heel, with a bit of a platform sole, whilst the RNC photo seems to be more of a reddish stiletto/court heel, and tbh less of a platform.

    (sorry about the double post)

  3. Roma says:

Mairead, I thought the same thing too. The heel is completely different.

  4. Bellatrix says:

Isn’t this just a mistake when the pictures were selected for the article?
She seems to have the more block heel ones in the photograph where she is seen next to McCain waving…
Maybe she wore another pair of red shoes on another event during the campaign and these got confused with the previous? I don’t see a peep toe upon closer inspection of the “not block heel” ones. Or am I seeing this wrong?

  5. Keekee says:

I don’t get why anyone would even remotely WANT Palin’s shoes. WTH?

  6. Celebitchy says:

Thanks Mairead and Bellatrix for point that out – you’re right Bellatrix, the problem is that the shoes she’s wearing at the podium are not the same shoes as they have a different heel and aren’t peep toes. I was mistaken to include that picture and will remove it from the gallery. It looks like these are the right shoes and the heel wasn’t switched, I just included another photo of similar shoes that have different heels.

  7. ER says:

Maybe they want her shoes so they can knock Obama upside the head with them. Just a thought!

  8. Keekee says:

ER: or Palin can just knock herself upside her own head with them! “I can see Russia from my house!” (Go Tina Fey!)

  9. for_realz says:

    mmmm, used shoes! yikes.

  10. prissa says:

    Those shoes are gaudy! ick!

  11. Annie says:

Yea, I’m not a fan of used shoes.

Also, I really hope that money goes to something positive. It’s bad enough we had to deal with that woman and her stupidity, at least then some good organization can gain from some idiot’s adoration of her.

  12. Ron says:

You just know that some NRA member is sitting at home right now, watching a tape of her convention speech, sniffing these shoes!

  13. Mairead says:

Ahhh – thanks for pointing that out Bellatrix and CB. I just assumed that the photos were used in some capacity on ebay along with the printed ones in the for sale photo. They are definitely the same style shoe as the photo of her and McCain.

The flash photos make them look seriously gaudy though – even for a piece of history.

    What class.

  15. Bodhi says:

I think they are cute as hell! But I don’t want to be anywhere near anything Scarah Palin’s feet have touched.

She isn’t gonna get anywhere near Obama’s head. Like, ever.

@Ron, and the winning bid goes to Ted Nugent………….
    Used shoes, yuk!
