What’s up with stars acting stupid and then using the excuse of “dude, it was, like, performance art…you just don’t understand”? Joaquin Phoenix recently tried to explain away his “rap career” this way, and now Paris Hilton is trying to explain years and years of moronic behavior by saying it was all just an act.
Paris is still promoting her new show, “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend” and she’s talked to nearly everyone in the British press. I sincerely hope the Brits aren’t buying Paris’s crap though. I doubt they are.
Paris Hilton says she sometimes acts dumb on television to get laughs, but in real life she’s “a strong person” who’s been through a lot.
Appearing on the British morning show GMTV to launch her new reality show “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend“, Hilton, 27, said she cultivated her dumb blonde image for her hit FOX reality show “The Simple Life“, costarring Nicole Ritchie, and it became her schtick.
“For five seasons I was stuck doing this character,” she says. “It was kind of hard always having to play that character when it’s not who I am.”
She adds, “I just say jokes but they think I’m serious, which I think is funny, and I think I kind of play up the image sometimes because – whatever – it’s just entertainment.”
In her British show, 12 young hopefuls battle it out to be crowned her official “British best friend.” In real life, Hilton says her fame makes it hard to find close, trustworthy friends.
“It’s difficult because you never know what people’s intentions are, and I think a lot of girls have become my friend for the wrong reasons and used me,” Hilton says. “I didn’t realize it but now, throughout the years, I’m realizing who those kind of people are.”

Yes, the “Paris Hilton” that we’ve seen for the past eight years or so is a character, people, get it straight. And like all great artists, she’s tired of doing the same thing over and over. She wants to try a different character. She must expand her art! And I think “expanding her art” is a euphemism for something really disgusting.

Maybe she can “expand” her art by acting in a somewhat classy fashion. It would be exhausting for her, no doubt, but if she could pull it off for another 8 years oh, how we would applaud.
Does she really expect us to believe this?? This girl is one of the dumbest celebrities out there. Next to Britney Spears, also not quite smart.

If this girl thinks that eight years of acting dumb is art, she would have realized years ago it wasn’t working. How can she think that being called “dumb”, “idiot”, “stupid whore” (and that’s the nice stuff) help her career? Aw, because she is all those things naturally. No act.

The only reason she thinks she can pull off that load of tripe is because the tabs were starting to speculate as to whether or not she was for real. That’s how she got the idea to start saying it’s all been an act and secretly she’s a master media manipulator.
Holly, Paris is not smart enough to come up with the master media manipulator plan. It must have been her little brother’s idea.
