Here are some new photos of Julia Roberts last night in NYC. She wore the purple Proenza Schouler dress to the NYC premiere of August: Osage County, and she wore the grey and black Stella McCartney coat to The Late Show with David Letterman. Can we just take a moment to discuss how weird it is that Julia wore the Proenza Schouler to a NYC premiere in December? I would be side-eyeing this choice if it was an LA premiere too – it’s just too summery in general – but it’s flat-out insane that she wore this in NYC! That being said, it’s a cute dress and it’s interesting to see Julia in something so short and figure-enhancing. She’s been wearing a lot of sack dresses recently, so this is a new look for her.
Speaking of sack dresses and clothing that makes her look pregnant (side-eye at that McCartney coat), several days ago TMZ had some photos of Julia and they started Bump Watching her. It was sort of rude (and I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t even like her that much) because… well, Julia’s had three babies and she’s 46. A pregnancy wouldn’t have been completely impossible, but at some point the tabloids and the gossip sites need to stop screaming “BUMP WATCH” on people that have just eaten pasta for lunch. Anyway, when Julia appeared on The Late Show last night, Dave asked her if she was knocked up and she said no. Done. Here are some cute videos of her appearance – Dave showered her in flowers:
Very cute. Dave just loves her so much. To be fair though, Julia doesn’t do interviews with anyone who doesn’t grovel at her feet.
Speaking of… where’s Meryl Streep? Meryl was not at the NYC premiere of Osage County and Meryl has been largely absent from the promotional tour thus far. The film doesn’t come out until Christmas and it’s possible Meryl is going to wait to do the big promotional push in January, but it still seems weird, right? Meryl is Chris Hemsworthing this promotional tour, and I kind of wonder if those stories about Meryl’s annoyance with Julia were dead on the money. Both Meryl and Julia scored SAG and Globe nominations this week though, so they’ll have to play nice at the awards shows. It should be a hotbed of girl drama, I’m sure.

Way too summery. We have snow on the ground, and I’m an hour and a half from New York. Coat is ugly to me, but I rarely like Stella.
I agree – retire bump watch when an actress hits 45 for heavens sake. Actually, I’m on board with retiring it for all celebs but in our baby-crazed world that will never happen.
And I know, I know, that there are women who have had babies after that age but it’s just not that common. It’s much more common to want to wear comfortable clothes or to carry a few extra pounds in your mid-section when you hit your mid forties.
I agree that the dress is both fairly flattering and very season inappropriate at the same time.

Way too summery. As for the alleged bump, she’s middle aged. However, instead of being annoyed, she probably enjoys the attention.

What a hideous color and fabric. I’m not a big fan of pantyhose, but looking at those legs makes me wish she had a pair on. I guess we should be thankful that she wasn’t flying her ‘free spirit’ flag by going barefoot……
Can we talk about the pantyhose thing? Why do young women think it looks better to go bare-legged in the winter? Your legs aren’t tan, it’s bad for your shoes, it’s WINTER. Not that pantyhose give that much warmth, but it looks so unfinished to me. I guess I’m old, but I just hate that trend, and now I feel fuddy daddy if I wear pantyhose and frightening if I don’t.
I’m glad you brought this up. I feel totally old lady-ish if I wear pantyhose in winter or whenever. But my legs are pale and splotchy and look terrible without. I was kind of hoping that pantyhose would become a thing again with Dutchess Kate wearing them but that does not seem to be happening.
Maybe they will make a comeback. I see the appeal of the bare leg if you have pretty, tan or otherwise non-white legs, but for the pasty among us, it stinks!
So Julia wasn’t pregnant – she just dressed bad and looked “large”. In actuality, she is rather slender compared to the pics we saw a few days ago. But WHY did she go barefoot to one or two honor/award presentations a few months ago? She just has no common sense to put shoes on when you leave the house?!!
I think she looks great, and no, I’m not some huge fan of hers.

She’s had THREE kids? I thought she only had twins….
Anyway, I doubt she’s pregnant. She’s probably one of those skinny people who never really had to diet or exercise, but then once she hit her forties, that all went downhill and she’s trying to find her footing. Not that she’s fat–but she’s bigger.
She has a little boy in addition to the boy / girl twins.
I’ve noticed for the past few years (especially since she turned 40) that she’s got some middle-age spread going on. I agree she’s not fat, but she is definitely bigger, especially in her upper body.

Ugh. What a terrible dress in the first picture. The waist is way too high and the shorts looks like a spruced up version of my grandmother’s summertime culottes(circa 1975). If that weren’t enough, she looks uncomfortably hoisted in the air atop those heels with her legs jutting up like shaky tent poles underneath that purple monstrosity. Terrible all around. Perhaps that is a vintage leftover she took from the Erin Brockavich set so many years ago.

Do they have heat lamps on the red carpet? Because it was well below freezing last night in NYC, and Julia doesn’t even look uncomfortable.
Also – WTF open toed shoes in December. Again, ITS BELOW FREEZING.
I love her, and she’s gorgeous! However, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s pregnant, as there were a few other pics in question. She’s a doll though, no matter if she wear blousy shirts. I’d be happy for her and her husband if she had more kids.
