Beyonce released full-length music videos for ‘Drunk In Love’ & ‘XO’: cute & sexy?

bey3

Beyonce sold more than 800,000 copies of her new album in 72 hours. That’s really, really good. Lady Gaga should be taking notes. To celebrate, Beyonce released two full-length music videos for the first two singles off the new album – “XO” and “Drunk In Love”. Do you know it’s taken me this long to understand that “Drunk In Love” is sort of like the “part 2” of “Crazy In Love”. I wonder what part 3 will be? “Angina in Love”? “Arthritis In Love”? There seems to be some confusion about what the real “first single” will be off this album – some industry sources are saying it could be “Blow”…? All I know is that “Drunk In Love” and “XO” have full-length videos now and we might as well discuss them.

First up: “Drunk In Love” featuring Jay-Z. This is a sexy song and a sexy video. I think I like the video more than the song, quite honestly – I don’t really care for the way Beyonce slurs her lyrics here, I suppose she’s trying to sound buzzed? But the video is hot. The video is almost NSFW because there’s a lot of cleavage (great cleavage) and sexy dancing. This is the sexiest video since “Bound 2” obviously.

Next up: “XO”. This video is a lot more “fun” and “Beyonce hanging out with buds at a carnival.” I like this video because she’s smiling and laughing a lot, which is preferable (to me) than seeing Bey’s fierce SexyFace. I also love her blinking headband/bow thing. She’s extremely adorable in this video, I’ll give her that.

I think “XO” is the more radio-friendly pop song and I can totally see how we’ll probably be hearing it constantly for the next six months. That being said, “Drunk In Love” seems more audacious and I could see how there would be a lot of radio stations who want to play the hell out of that one.

    ♥♥♥ Beyonce!

  2. Danah says:

My favorite songs from the album are Partition (Yoncé), ***Flawless, Mine ft. Drake and Drunk In Love. Maybe the other’s will grow on me. I LOVE the all the videos though.

  3. paola says:

    Bitch was smart. very smart.

    Mmtcheeeew!

  5. ashley says:

Excellent album!!! I love xo,it’s fun. Ryan tedder and the dream wrote an amazing song. Drunk in love is so sexy, love it. Congrats on all her success with this album she did good.

  6. Turtle says:

The best thing about this surprise release is that it’s actually GOOD pop music.
The album is really a nearly flawless execution.
I woke up with Blow in my mind this mornih. Like the whole album is on repeat in my head.

I listened to Britney Jean last night out of curiosity. It sounded like they got Britney chained to a radiator trying making her pump out joyless weak sauce albums.

No Angel is my favorite track. This album is the most real Beyonce has been….and the quality of the album is why it’s on fire, not that gimmick release.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Britney only sold 107,000 in her first week. I am kind of surprised more people aren’t doing contrasts of Beyonce’s album and hers, especially considering their careers have lasted about the same length of time.

      • Penny says:

Bey’s still got a way to go to catch up with Britney’s all-time sales. Gaga and Taylor Swift have outsold her too.

  7. JJ says:

drunkinlove sounds like it was inspired by Rihanna!! hmmmm…. #copycat

    • Sweetcheeks says:

Hhhmm. Thought I was the only one who caught that… First time I heard it, I thought I was listening to Rihanna’s ‘Pour It Up’.

    • Nik says:

Well Pour It Up was a ripoff of Juicy J’s Bandz Make Her Dance so everyone is copying off of someone else.

With that being said, Drunk In Love is the best out of the three.

    • turtle says:

I hate to be a Bey stan but this bitch is not thinking about Rihanna.

Beyonce is an 18th Century Courtesan. Rihanna is a $20 ’77 Times Square Streetwalker.

This chick just released the hottest pop album of the year with no promotion and everyone is steady comparing her to mentally ill Rihanna whose albums have no depth, she shows up to shows late and stoned, doesn’t even care. Meanwhile back at the ranch Beyonce is a mom, a wife, does all of her shows on time and managed to record 14 songs and make EXCELLENT, expressive videos for all of them while coming across realer than ever before.

I am so tired of the Rihanna comparison. Rihanna isn’t in Beyonce’s league in terms of work ethic or talent.

      • Dani2 says:

Whoa girl, those comparisons were harsh. And why do both of these successful women have to be compared to prositutes (of different levels but bottom line -prostitutes)? I find the fact that you made that comparison troubling.

But yes, I think everyone with a brain knows that Beyonce is way ahead of Rihanna in terms of talent, work ethic and level of professionalism.

  8. The Original Original says:

Umm I was liking Drunk in Love till I started hearing the Ike Turner/Anna Mae references in the rap. How is that a good idea? I mean I guess I didnt really get the context of how he was using the names but it cant be good conjuring any image of that relationship, right?

    • Heather says:

I totally agree. I loved the song until I listened to the lyrics. Very disrespectful of women. Huffington Post has a good article on that….sad, really.

      • Snooze says:

Don’t forget the Mike in ’97 biting reference. So that’s when Mike Tyson bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear. “Eat Cake Anna Mae” refers to the movie “What’s Love Got To Do With It”. In it Ike is high and forcibly feeds cake to Tina/Anna-Mae. So he wants to “beat her box” up like two violent men – one a convicted rapist and (in ’97) out-of-control violent man. The other probably the most famous abusive husband ever, who raped and beat his wife up for years. And let’s not forget that Beyoncé has done a fair bit of hero worship of Tina Turner in the past too. I think this is despicable. I don’t care what you’re into as a couple in the sack, as long as it’s all consensual. But publicly referring to these particular men and domestic abuse whilst talking about sex with your wife is all kinds of f*cked up.

    • Apsutter says:

Hmmmm…I can see how people would have a problem with it but to me it’s clear they’re just talking about rough sex. These two are probably into BDSM and the like. Still not a good comparison because BDSM relationships are all about mutual agreement and enjoyment while Ike Turner was just a monster.

  9. Kaylah says:

I absolutely love this album. My least favorite is superpower & even that‘s a pretty great song. I like how she explored all the.different facets of her personality. Jealous is probably my favorite on the album. I like how the album has actual great songs not bland rubbish songs that sold because of the surprise release.

  10. MsDaisy says:

Hahaha I thought this album was a disorganized mess. Bey is wayyyyy too much of a control freak to just release an album carelessly. She already performed Xo, I think she has a stage routine for all her new songs, probably why she took so long to release the album. That’s why this production is flawless and amazing. Go Bey!

  11. Dani2 says:

Flawless, XO and Haunted are my favourites of the moment. It really is a good album, marketing techniques aside, as opposed to the albums released by Katy/Gaga/Miley/Britney – there are no fillers on this one and it’s not as forgettable.

  12. Ang says:

It isn’t my thing she sounds the same in all her songs now. I don’t look forward to radio playing this crap. Her videos were good and I’m sure costly. I don’t see her as a down to earth friendly person.

    • DeeG says:

The first part I understood. The last part it sounds too much like the charge levelled against successful women that they’re bitches. The worst thing along with whore that a woman can be.

  13. QQ says:

I actually liked this “drunk in love” song (is a little hood, the delicious right amount!) but i also have Beyonce (or Fast Mariah runs for that matter) diction issues, which is why I mostly “don’t” with her music …

However i cant resist them together (which is probably also why I live for the Partition video, the other videos, the Drake one and pretty much everything else besides Haunted partition and the 80s neon cunninlingus song, Flawless and Grown Woman (thats an adorable vid too!) i actually stopped playing..she is stunning but not enough for me to keep listening to whatever nonsense she was talking about

QQ Quick handy review: small Doses of your Lord and Savior Beysus: Flawless, Partition, Grown Woman, Blow and Haunted …the other videos on mute

  14. Anna says:

Drunk In Love is being sent to Urban/Hip-Hop stations and you can already tell they’re gonna love it. I have a feeling in this video that Jay-Z was a bit drunk LOL
I wish she Yonce was an actual song and not just part of Partition, because that is my jaaaaam right now.
The fact that XO was filmed and no one leaked it is great, reminds of Hannah Montana the Movie when the whole town kept her secret. a TMZ photog is in the video btw, supposedly he’s been bragging to everyone about it LOL

btw in relation to the old Beyonce post when everyone was saying Bowie did it first.. Yeah it was surprising that he released an album after 10 years, but he announced the album more than a month before with promo and a single.. so its not the same.

  15. Linda says:

I think my favorite song on the album is rocket. That song is all sex. She gave me some D Angelo tease on that song.

  16. Diana says:

I just can’t with Bey’s videos; girl has an amazing set of pipes and I actually like a lot of her music but whenever I watch her is just so vulgar, I don’t find her sexy, just thrashy a la Rihanna.

  17. Apsutter says:

Drunk in Love is freaking hot. Part of the reason I love Bey is that she’s a grown ass sexy woman who makes no apologies for her body or sexuality. Like someone said on another thread, we need more grown woman sexy! Reminds me of the vid Beautiful Liar with Shakira…both were incredibly sensual.

  18. Helena says:

She makes me cry, her album is so good. Finally someone is releasing real music, not some carbage produced by Simon Cowell.

  19. Pants says:

For the XO video, I just need to say it’s not a carnival, it’s Coney Island. Also, the guy with the camera that she pulls over while they’re laughing on the boardwalk, he works for TMZ. I work near Sirius Radio and he’s outside the building every day! Just my random FYI’s of the day 🙂

    • idk says:

TMZ talked about this beyonce video months ago…their photog shot footage of it and they put in on the TMZ show. Most people just thought Beyonce was shooting a video for her first new single for her new album…so there was knowlege that she was working on something, just no one knew she wasn’t going to promote and instead just put it on itunes.

  20. Magster says:

    @JJ- 100% agree

  21. Aysla says:

I wouldn’t call myself a Beyonce fan (although I admire how much of a big deal she is in the pop star world), and I don’t care about the hoopla surrounding her surprise album release on itunes… but I must have watched the Drunk In Love video like 20 times on repeat. I LOVE the song, and the video is so crazy sexy she’s just made it onto my “Five List”. The XO video is really really cute and I enjoyed the song for that too… sooo… I’m inching closer to buying the album now. I just need to hear a few more songs for the final nudge.

  22. LeLe25 says:

As always her lyrics are garbage. I just can’t get into a song that includes lyrics such as ” cigars on ice”, “daddy looking at my fatty” and “can’t keep my fingers off you…” Plus the song songs like a million songs I’ve heard before; Bleh

  23. meh says:

Okay so…not a Beyoncé fan ever. Not my style, not my thing. That said, two things:

1.) Holy fark, she is absolutely gorgeous in these videos,

2.) Holy fark, this music is actually really, really good. She’s managed to create a lot of atmosphere and the songs are INTERESTING. I’m actually really surprised to be saying this but…..I might actually..buy this album?!?!

  24. Katy says:

I really like the video for Drunk in Love. I don’t know about Jay’s and Bey’s personal life and marriage, but they seem so wonderful together. I hope they actually are as happy as they appear.

    • Apsutter says:

They are adorable. One of my f=girlfriends said she loves when he’s in her vids and it always leaves her wanting more lol

  25. Suki2 says:

Pretty Hurts is the best video. Wait for that one.

  26. TeresaGiudice says:

I REALLY like Drunk In Love. I wanna jump on my man every time I hear it. I also like the new sexed out version of Beyonce or is that Yonce or Sasha Fierce? I’m confused. . .

  27. Kayla says:

Dangerously In Love was part 2….
