Lily Allen appears on television in Australia quite a bit ( Rove – G.M.T.V.) & others. Her popularity in oz is pretty good. In fact in was the first country were the Fear went to number 1. She mentioned on Australian television that she gets too much publicity. Her drinking only occurs when people want to call her a drunk, she spends her time sober, during interviews. People only use that against her because they don’t like her. They need to ask themselves why they bother to comment. That’s their problem not hers!!

This article is far too extreme, in making Lily Allen sound like a fall down drunk, all the time kind of girl. She’s not somebody, with a drinking problem. (AT ALL!)

I probably would need to drink prior to performing in front of thousands of people, too, LOL.

If we’re talking one drink to loosen up – okay, but if she needs to be buzzed to perform she’s in the wrong line of work.

Here in Australia, she is an unknown and the only times she appears on the news is when she’s slurring her words after a ton of alcohol.

lol- I’m in dire need of help because I wonder of the Royal family has influence on British culture.

I have been to England a couple of time, and the Royal family make the news.
Their silly behavior is being reported and analyzed as part of the news (not entertainment news).
Even worst, and that’s really the sad part- that the Beckhams move to the US was also discussed and analyzed by the mainstream news program, which I thought was hilarious and sad.

As for “having a personality”- everyone has one, and while Amy is talented her serious drug and weight problem is not “a personality” and a positive thing to like about her.

Being proud of drinking and acting trashy or announcing the sort of things Russell did, is not only childish, questionable and treats women as disposable commodity, it’s also very trashy.

If that’s not “trashy”, I don’t know what is.

No, Ned, not that you don’t know who he is, that you made the assumption earlier that I was saying he was trashy because he’s lairy and opinionated. Lazy thinking, dull comprehension. You obviously can’t seem to get your head around that idea that what you blanket term as ‘trashy’, I see as having a personality and genuine talent – and that includes Lily, Amy & Russell.

Yes of course there are no borders when it comes to trashy behaviour, but your idea of trashy and mine are poles apart. If all you’re reading is gossip sites, then your view of Brits abroad is as limited as your endless, mindless repetition of the same arguments over and over again, here and elsewhere.

And sorry to disappoint you but although I live in London, I’m not British, they’re not ‘my’ royals so I have no need to or interest in defending them.

I am so sorry for not knowing who some sort of a British actor is.

I should educate myself more about British celebs and their lairy ways. Robin Hood must be a movie that I need to memorize each and every actor who took part in it.
How could I have missed Lily’s father?!

As for the Brits acting trashy, I guess Russell Brand, Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, than chef who mistreats people as form of entertainment and likes to fight with people, Naomi Campbell…
I mean even actress that I like- like Keira Nightly, seemed very proud to make that point that she drinks a lot and that she was nursing a headache after a night of partying too much, when she got the call that she was nominated to the GG or the Oscar in a prime time interview in a special.

So besides every now and then of another embarrassment coming from your so called Royal family, we do get more than enough of vapid and shallow Vic Beckham who’s primary job is to be try to be famous in America and try to be seen as much as possible (or avoid food as much as possible) or her fellow Melanie Brown who got noticed in America for getting pregnant from one man (Eddie Murphy) while marrying another by the end of her pregnancy.

so I ask you again- is that a cultural thing in England to be proud of your trashy ways?
Is that a prerequisite?
Do you think it’s the influence of the family who you all pay their bills for doing nothing (unless being a dysfunctional family is “a job”)?

@Ned – chrissakes, Keith Allen, Lily’s father, is an excellent actor (Bodies, Robin Hood), I mentioned him only because she’s very like him in a lairy, opinionated way. How moronic of you to compare him to Lohan senior. You haven’t a clue who anyone is, have you? And who are all these other trashy Brits you’ve noticed lately, out of interest?
