Brad Pitt apparently filmed a cameo in ’22 Jump Street’ for his buddy Jonah Hill

What’s the expiration date on Spoilers again? Like, is it still too soon to tell you about The Sixth Sense twist? Is it too soon to tell you about the unexpected and funny cameo in the 21 Jump Street movie last year? If so, beware: SPOILER. Near the end of the movie, during the violent and funny final scenes, one of the dudes takes off a mask or something and it’s Johnny Depp, one of the stars of the original 21 Jump Street TV show. It was a great moment and a rather brilliant cameo. And it looks like Radar is trying to spoil a great cameo for the sequel film too, 22 Jump Street: BRAD PITT.

Superstar Brad Pitt obviously doesn’t take himself TOO SERIOUSLY as an actor. Because RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that the 50-year-old filmed a hilarious cameo playing himself working as a university librarian in 22 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

Hill – who starred alongside Pitt in 2011′s Moneyball – persuaded his A-list friend to do the quirky scene. The sequel to 21 Jump Street sees hapless cops Jenko (Tatum) and Schmidt (Hill) continue their undercover work while on campus. In an attempt to blend in with their fellow students Jenko joins the football team while Schmidt becomes part of the art clique as they try to crack their case.

During their investigation the pair stumble upon Pitt inside the campus playing himself as a low-paid librarian. The talented star then purposefully does some dodgy acting that doesn’t go un-noticed by the two undercover cops.

An insider revealed to Radar: “The scene is very funny and the guys had a great time doing it. Brad was a great sport and the producers were thrilled that he took part.”

Tatum and Hill have recently been filming the sequel on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans while Pitt has been relaxing with his family in Australia after working in Britain on his latest World War II blockbuster Fury.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller 22 Jump Street also stars rapper Ice Cube and newcomer Amber Stevens – it is slated to be released next summer. The big screen sequel is a spin-off of the famed original television series that starred Johnny Depp in the late 80′s. The first 21 Jump Street movie was a surprise hit at the box office in 2012 grossing over $200 million in ticket sales worldwide.

[From Radar]

I know Jonah is a toolbox these days and he’s in love with Leonardo DiCaprio, but I think this is sweet. I like that Jonah and Brad are still tight after working on Moneyball, and they’re close enough where Jonah was all, “Hey, why don’t you come do this silly cameo?” and Brad was all “Sure, sounds like fun.” I remember when Jonah made the first movie (21 Jump Street) in New Orleans, he said Brad and Angelina let him stay at their NOLA mansion. I think a big chunk of 22 Jump Street was filmed in New Orleans again, so maybe Jonah is still staying at the Jolie-Pitt mansion. And when Brad filmed his cameo, he and Jonah stayed up all night, braiding each other’s hair.

When would Brad have had time to film the cameo. Unless it is something where he is not with the characters. He has been in London since forever. He was in LA for a day and then flew right out. So when did this cameo happen.

I never knew much about Jonah before Moneyball. And that was because I was following Brad.. lol. But I did enjoy his and Brad’s promotion for the film. They were very funny together. Lots of cute guy moments.

but I’ll have to wait for some real confirmation. Radar is STAR Magazine so I don’t believe them at all until I get an actual YES from a legit person.

Maybe Jonah is a bigger baller than we previously thought. Honestly, who is this guy? He’s seems everywhere now, A-listing with the A-Listers.. maybe there’s something I’m not seeing.

    • Tippy says:

Jonah is getting rave reviews for his part in Wolf of Wall Street. Some people are already comparing him to a young Tom Hanks.

      • Dani says:

He was sooo good in WWS!!! I saw it last night, and he really stuck out.

      • Esmom says:

Really? No!! Just what the man’s already bloated ego does not need.

As for this story, I thought Brad and Jonah were on the outs for some reason. Although I could see Brad doing it for professional reasons, just for fun (he’s done stuff like Jackass in the past, remember?), even if he’s not keen on Jonah anymore.

  3. Ellie says:

Hopefully Brad won’t be judged by the company he keeps.

    • doofus says:

I hope not, too, but there are plenty of folks on this site who say EXACTLY THAT…that is, you can tell a lot about someone by the company they keep.

that being said, I was surprised to hear that these two are close because, as was written, Jonah Hill comes off as a very grumpy, pretentious guy in his interviews and Pitt seems like such laid back “mellow dude” kind of guy.

In Jonah’s defense, though, he’s not out driving drunk, causing fist fights, treating women like crap or bad mouthing his fellow actors (as far as we know), so there’s that.

      • Luca26 says:

Jonah may be pretentious and annoying but he isn’t a racist or known sex offender. I do judge the people in Hollywood that are friendly with known abusers like Terry Richardson because they are tacitly supporting his behavior.
We all have that annoying slightly insecure friend that we see the good side of one on one.

      • Maya says:

@Luca26: You are completely right – at least Jonah isnt a racist nor attacks children in the name of being funny/comedic, nor a sex offender and a known women beater.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Well also, the way I see it is that these two aren’t really FRIENDS. I’d say Jonah is his industry friend, just like Clooney. I don’t see them as two people who call each other (unless it’s for work purposes, like this cameo), go out of your way to meet up, or have an open invite to go into your house, etc–like we do with our close personal friends. I’d say Jonah is someone that IS fun to hang out with–especially if you’re an Alister.

I would also say that Jonah ain’t no dummy. And the way the acts to the peasants (interviewers, waiters–I heard he’s a real SOB to the waitstaff), is WAAAAY different than the way he acts with Brad. It’s easy to act like you’re the nicest, most charming, funny guy ever, IF you don’t have to do it all the time. And especially if it’s to someone higher up on the food chain, so to speak.

I’d also wonder at how many industry magazines Brad/Angelina read. I think Brad likes architecture crap, so I don’t see either of them getting Vogue or Vanity Fair in the mail–I only get my celeb info, mainly, from this site. So it could be that they just haven’t read about his douchetastic attitude, and he hasn’t shown it to them yet.

        I also agree with Lucas26.

      • ANDREA1 says:

        @ Lucas26. You totally nailed it HA!!!! 🙂 😉

      • doofus says:

to Luca: No, he isn’t a racist or a sex offender, which is the point I was making with my “In Jonah’s defense” paragraph, albeit not so crassly. Were you referring to a person or persons in particular with those two characterizations?

As for Richardson, I agree. Though not a sex offender in legal terms, he IS sexually offensive to me, and whenever there’s a celeb I like who I find out is friendly with him, my opinion goes down a bit.

same goes for any defense of or friendly association with Polanski, Mel Gibson, etc. So, Johnny Depp, Natalie Portman, Jodie Foster…all actors I used to like have dropped way down, in my opinion.

I wonder, do you judge EVERYONE in H’wood by who they are friendly with, or just one person? I ask because, often, that doesn’t seem to apply to ALL celebs on this site, just certain ones that posters already dislike. I guess I’m just getting tired of the selective outrage (not necessarily from you) by some posters on this site.

to Virgilia: see, hearing that type of thing about an actor/actress (treating “the masses” rudely but being nice to celebrity friends) IS something that would make me dislike that person. I think that’s “class-ism”, and is a pretty negative trait. Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez are two celebs that are notorious for that kind of thing, and I think it stinks because “the masses” are what made them as famous as they are. And my mother always told me that you can tell a lot about what kind of person someone is by the way they treat people in service positions.

      • Luca26 says:

        @Doofus
I was thinking of a lot of the people you named and not one specific celebrity. Also I don’t know if you were aware of all the models who have come forward to say they were harassed by Terry Richardson?

      • doofus says:

Luca, I have and the more stories I read about him (and pictures I’ve seen – UGH – not enough brain bleach to clear those images) the more repulsive he becomes.

by “in legal terms” I just meant the he hasn’t been prosecuted (yet). I would love it if some of the H’wood folks he calls his friends would wake up to what kind of person he is and speak out so he stops getting work. I honestly think that some of them are SO insulated in their little worlds that they don’t know all that he’s done.

    • TC says:

I seriously doubt Jonah Hill is part of Brad’s “circle.” He may joke with him when they work professionally or when they’re on the red carpet, but that’s about it. Brad and Angie keep a very tight circle and those in it are loyal. Hence the reason Angie was able to undergo a preventive double mastectomy requiring three surgeries and several trips back and forth from her doctor’s office without anyone knowing it. They’ve been in this business a long time and their inner circle is made up of people who have known them for decades.
      .
In terms of the story, I don’t believe Brad filmed a cameo for the Jump Street sequel. As others have mentioned, I don’t know when it would’ve occurred. Plus, the way fans track Brad and Angie with their cellphone cameras, I’m sure there would’ve been a Brad sighting and photo capture in New Orleans where they’re filming. But I guess we’ll find out when the movie opens.

  4. Kim1 says:

Story sounds like BS the only day this could had been shot was when Brad was in LA for Angie’s Oscar.I know Brad and Jonah hung out at the ceremony.Marc Milken talked about it on ENews.

  5. Tiffany says:

One on Pitt’s first roles was in the TV series. If its true than I think it is cool.

  6. Maya says:

Brad and Angelina have friends? Now that cannot be true because according to haters – they dont have any friends.

Never mind the fact that is has been reported millions of times that Brad and Angelina has tons of friends – they only have a handful of BFFs but several friends overall. Unlike others they dont have to call the paps to show off their showbusiness friends (all signed onto the same pr agency).

Coming back to this cameo – Brad was really good in the comedy movie he did a few years back. He also did good comedy in the Friends episode as well so I am wont be surprised if this story is true. Brad has helped out lots of his friends over the years hence the reason he has true friendships lasting for more than 2 decades.

    • Esmom says:

I beg to differ on the Friends cameo, lol. I thought he was terrible, delivering his lines with weird emphasis and stiffness. I remember thinking at the time that it would probably hard to get into the rhythm of the rest of the cast.

      • Cecilia says:

Esmom…I remember that episode of Friends. Brad stuck out like a sore thumb. He was stiff & stoic. The regular cast acted rings around him.

      • Maya says:

@Esmon: The rest of the cast (the original ones) have all been doing this for 8 years by then. It is different acting comedy, drama, romance for a movie but it is a whole different ball game to do that infront of a live audience – especially comedy is hard. Brad did a good job in my opinion.

Plus I also remember Tom Selleck, Bruce Wills both saying that the crew (original 6) were a tight group and made everyone else feel like an outsider. That and the live audience can make any actor nervous.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Really? A person that I know, who watches Friends, told me Brad was hilarious…But I guess it’s a matter of opinion. The only person I found funny on Friends was Phoebe.

      • Esmom says:

Maya, I love Brad, believe me I didn’t want to diss him. I was shocked at his performance and figured all of the factors you mentioned were the reason he kinda flopped. He was given funny material but just didn’t strike the right tone. Or maybe he was just the wrong guy for it. I remember being impressed that he’d even agree to do it.

That said, I thought the other guest stars you mention did better with their roles (and others, too, like Christina Applegate and Marlo Thomas), even under those circumstances. Maybe because they had done more TV than Brad.

      • The Original G says:

Well, I remember Brad being easy and cute.. Most of the humor came out of the fact that Brad/Jen were a couple, no?

If anyone thinks that cast acted rings around him, there’s nothing about their subsequent careers that confirms that anyone else thought so.

      • Tippy says:

The cast of Friends overcame a lot of mediocre writing. Their outstanding delivery and comedic timing carried the show for ten seasons. With a few exceptions, I don’t think the special guest stars added much to the program.

    • Kim1 says:

Yeah we didn’t know Angie and George Lucas have been friends for years until he mentioned at the Oscar ceremony last month.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I loved that story that he told, about Angelina agreeing to have lunch with his daughter. I’d imagine that she agree to it, to be nice, but also because she was a little proud that someone looked up to her for her humanitarian work (that she had just started)—I would be. I suppose it was a huge thing when Angelina joined the UN, especially at what, 23. 24? I think she was 25 when she adopted Maddox.

    • Penny says:

I can’t even watch that episode of Friends because Brad is so, so awkward in front of a live audience. I say that as a big fan of his film acting. You would have thought he’d have a leg up compared to other guest stars since he visited the set so much, but Winona Ryder was the only other guest star who fared as badly. Even Sean Penn was good, and you’d think if there was a film actor who wouldn’t do well on a show like Friends, it would be him.

      • lisa2 says:

LOL.. I think he was fine.

and that is the only episode I hear people talking about. I was on twitter Thanksgiving..and people were going on and on about it. A lot of people loved Brad on that episode. I find it funny that with a show that lasted for that long the episode most talked about is the one that Brad was on.

Everyone has their opinions. I’m going with those people. It is probably one of the few Friends episodes I have ever seen or want to see.

      • Lucy2 says:

I agree, I thought he was TERRIBLE in that episode! He’s ok in movies, but whatever he was choosing to do there was really odd and awkward, and it was so unexpected because he was a big movie star.
Of the Thanksgiving episodes, the one with the flashbacks, the one with the football, and the one where Rachel makes the trifle are the best by far.

  7. Jacqueline says:

I thought Jonah had brought a bunch of ransoms into the Pitt/Jolie NOLA residence & made himself unwelcome as a result?

    • Luca26 says:

That was a revealed CDAN blind which means it was probably a fabricated story. Enty admits to making up his blinds in the disclaimer at the bottom of his site. People who take his stories as facts are basically kidding themselves to think they are ‘in the know’.

    • Kim1 says:

I never believed that story because Brad and Angie attended his birthday party and had dinner months after he stayed in their NOLA.The other tabloid story about Brad calling him fat, telling him he needed to lose weight and hiring a trainer ,nutritionist was BS according to Jonah .

  8. Megan says:

I don’t care how many cool A-listers he hangs out with, Jonah Hill is still a giant douchbag. I can’t freaking stand him.

  9. MrsBPitt says:

I don’t get all the Jonah hate! He made fun of himself in This is the End. I’ve seen him in interviews, and I think he is truly amazed (and frankly, I am too) that he is getting to make these great films, with these A-list actors…

    • Gia says:

I don’t get it either? He always seems humble and shocked at his own success… I like him and can’t wait to see WOWS!

  10. Lucy2 says:

Kind of ruins a cameo if it becomes known, doesn’t it?
I loved that show back in the day.

  11. Shantal says:

Brad Pitt was actually on an episode of 21 Jump Street back in the day.
