I already covered many of the (hot) dudes who traveled to Palm Springs this weekend for the International Film Festival, so now here are the ladies. Some of the ladies. As you can imagine, whenever Julia Roberts deigns to come to town, the town must become ALL JULIA, GIVE ALL THE ATTENTION TO JULIA. So Julia is our headliner lady. Julia wore this animal-print Gucci which is just a fancy sack dress really. Julia tends to eschew tighter clothes these days, so if it had to be a sack dress… this one isn’t so bad. It would have been a much cleaner look without that tacky gold crap on the sleeves and on the hem though.
But really, wouldn’t you rather talk about Lupita Nyong’o? I would. Lupita and Julia are going to be up against each other in the Best Supporting Actress category at every award show this year. I want Lupita to clean Julia’s clock, don’t you? Lupita wore this Elie Saab dress which is… okay. It’s feminine and pretty and she looks stunning in pink. Here’s another thing: if you ever want to feel horrible about yourself, just stare at this close-up of Lupita’s face for a few minutes. (PS… that guy is Lupita’s brother!)
More photos… Amy Adams in a Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2014 gown with polka dots. I’m not feeling the polka dots, but it’s an okay dress and I’m glad she didn’t wear it to a major awards show. My biggest problem? Amy needs to stop with the center parts. In fact, I would argue that she needs to stop doing tight, pulled-back hairstyles altogether.
And finally, Meryl Streep looking jazzy in black. Love her so hard. Meryl and Julia didn’t pose together on the carpet either, which just adds some fuel to my “Julia and Meryl really aren’t that tight” fire.

Lupita is gorgeous but the 1950s dress looks like it came from an old Sears catalog and ditto the shoes. Love the swinging sixties dress on Julia though. I know she gets a lot of hate and I’m not sure why. I thinks she’s quite beautiful and happily does not look like every other beautiful woman out there. I guess Meryl thinks she gets a pass on style because she’s such a great actress but, honestly, she could try a little harder.
I think hooking up with a married man and then mocking his wife publicly was a problem for a lot of people. And the rumor is that she’s incredibly high maintenance and unkind to those with whom she works. I always find her a little smug and not so bright in interviews. As for the dress, I don’t think she flatters her figure very often, and this is one example.
Lupita wins without me even looking! I’m sorry–it may be irrational–but I can’t stand Julia’s smug face. And she’s really gotten goofy/odd looking as she’s gotten older. I think that’s how Anne Hathaway’s going to be when she gets to be in her forties.

Yep, it was hearing about that tshirt that did me in–now don’t get me wrong. I don’t think cheating=public ridicule for the rest of your life (although, her gigolo of a husband is the one who was cheating, not her–to my knowledge). But come on. There’s being in an inappropriate relationship with a person, handling that like a grown up vs. wearing a handmade tshirt, in public, in full view of the paparazzi, to antagonize your boyfriend’s wife. That’s below the belt. And that tells me a whole lot about you as a person, than you actually cheating (or doing the deed with a person in a relationship, etc).
But yeah–Julia really isn’t that pretty anymore. I’ll agree–she was very charismatic when younger, but that’s gone now. Plus I never thought chica could act either.
I think over time Julia has really revealed herself to be not a nice person. I, like most readers look at her now and see her for what she is, not a nice person. It shines through her now
Julia is not pretty, she looks masculine. Her cruel personality has seeped outwardly to her face. Amy Adams, she is a class act.
I hated American Hustle, but there’s no denying that Amy Adams has great hair. Her hair game in that movie, except for the crimpy mess she had during the sheik’s reception, was damn good. Hopefully, if she’s nominated for Oscar, she’ll let her hair down literally. Hell, why wait… do it now, Amy.
Why is this even a question? Lupita, always. And add her brother to the mix? No contest, ever.. They both have amazing smiles.

Amy Adams frequently doesn’t get it with her styling, but think she looks nice here. No matter what she wears, she’s a gorgeous girl. And Meryl…what can I say? She’s so timeless and non try-hard. Love her.

Meryl’s reviews for ‘August’ are surprisingly weak – they all say she over played it. In contrast, Julia is getting excellent reviews. I did not see that one coming!
Hadn’t read any reviews of her performance, but based on ads running on TV, can’t say I’m surprised. She really seems to be hamming it up. Re her outfit- almost every red carpet appearance of her’s makes me wonder why she hates tailoring so much. This is good, but too much fabric.
I actually like the dresses, except for Amy’s. Have no doubt she’ll bring it at the GG- can’t wait for Sunday!

Lupita is gorgeous, as always, but I’m kind of hating the color of the (bottom of the) dress on her. Julia actually looks cute, Amy, meh, and Meryl, as wonderful of an actress as she is, that outfit is a hot mess. The proportions of the top and pants are off, they highlight the middle with bagginess. Or maybe it’s because her posture is in a slump?
I am simply not a fan of the question “Who looked prettier?” They are both beautiful women though, with two different looks, styles and age groups.

Yes – now that I live in the South, I see her type in its native element: the quintessential Mean Girl who sucks up to authority figures and gets lots of positive hype, but in reality is selfish and cruel to people who can’t help her or her career.
Well I like Julia and Lupita.I just watched Steel Magnolias last night.Julia is still a fave of mine.Meg Ryan is also a fave despite some shady stuff in her personal life.
What shady stuff in Meg’s personal life? If you are referring to her ‘affair’ with Russell Crowe, she has stated that she and Dennis Quaid were estranged at the time. Also, there marriage was on the brink of ending. Dennis had been abusive, jealous, and a cheater throughout their entire marriage, while Meg kept putting up with his mess. She finally separated from him and decided to have a fling with Russell. The media picked up on the relationship, and since neither she or Dennis had publicly announced their separation, everyone ran with the ‘Meg cheated’ story. Especially her abusive and opportunistic husband Dennis.
Read into his extracurricular activities during his marriage to Meg. Dennis was a jerk, who was always jealous and bitter about Meg’s career and tried to reestablish power in their household by abusing her. Once he had an opportunity to ruin her publicly, he did it–just like most other a abusers do to theirs victims.
Do you realize John Mellencamp was married in 2010 when he hooked up with Meg?

Lupita is younger and prettier than Julia, BUT Julia’s dress is way cooler and suits her body type well. I like her hair like this and the overall effect is very stylish, IMO.
Lupita, on the other hand, is pretty, as I said, but the dress doesn’t do anything for her. She has small breasts and the dress makes her look small on top and wide on the bottom. She would look much better if it was the opposite.

She was lovely in Mystic Pizza & Pretty Women, and would have stayed that way if she had not gone crazy with obsessing over any little line that might have come up. Terrible. Really tragic. Also, she reportedly has ALWAYs been difficult to work with EVEN during Pretty Woman.

All Julia ever wears anymore are sacks made from great fabric, but sacks none-the-less. Her body is not in a good state. I find her to be arrogants, conceited, and full of crap half the time. What was the latest she said about making a marriage work long-term (like she knows b/c 10 years is not long-term), but her answer was “make out every day.” Come on! You don’t make every day. And that’s not what would make a marriage work anyway. So dumb! and not beleivable at all.
