Is Pippa Middleton toning down her fake orange skin color for the winter season?

Yay, new photos of Pippa Middleton! Pippa was spotted yesterday in London as she went out to lunch with her mother. That makes me wonder… Pippa isn’t trying to pretend to work a 9-to-5 job anymore, is she? She’s all about the Pippa Tips and columns and “working at Party Pieces” these days. Which is fine, I guess. She’s making a lot of money from all of that crap.

I have to say, I think Pippa looks pretty good in these pics. My first reaction was “Thank God she’s not bright orange.” This must be her “winter orange” shade. Still orange-ish, but definitely lighter than her summer shade. Plus, it helps when Pippa wears sunglasses. I’m not trying to be mean about it, but some people just look better in sunglasses and Pippa is one of those people. I also like her outfit – but I’m just pleased that her boots match her pants. She has an unfortunate habit of mixing her browns and blacks usually. I’m a Southern girl, and I really feel like you should not pair brown boots with black pants, tights or skirts. So, I’m just saying, I’m pleased with Pippa’s ensemble here.

As many of you know by now, I’m a bit of an Anglophile. So I’m ashamed to admit that it’s taken me this long (!!) to figure out Pippa’s current “job” as a celebrity columnist. Remember in the Bridget Jones books when Bridget switches jobs to the Sit Up Britain show and her boss basically wants her to wear various costumes and f—k up on camera? THAT’S PIPPA’S JOB NOW. Pippa just dresses up in costumes and writes “columns” about how she tried this or that. She’s aiming to be light and breezy, but her writing style is often cringe-inducing and it’s obvious that the newspapers and magazines wouldn’t publish her columns at all if not for the photos of Pips in her various costumes. Anyway, you can read Pippa’s newest Telegraph column here – she went for a bike ride. And she goes on and on about it but it’s all worth it because The Telegraph got a photo of Pippa in bike shorts and a helmet.

As for those persistent rumors that Pippa and Nico Jackson are engaged… I don’t know what to tell you. Us Weekly said they were engaged and People said they weren’t. Pippa hasn’t said anything about it and the Middleton’s favorite newspaper, the Daily Mail, hasn’t made a fuss about it either way. My guess is that Nico and Pippa are loosely engaged but they’re not ready to announce anything.

    Bless her heart.

Oh no! After years of believing black + brown was the ultimate fashion sin, I finally started to embrace it. As I type this, I am sitting at work wearing black pants and brown boots. Now I want to go home and change. 🙁

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I love black and brown together, but I also detest fashion “rules” and I hate ‘match- y match-y’.

I’m more upset that brown is nowhere this year. I’m not sure why one of my fave colors went out of style-I always thought it was a classic, but I can’t find brown anything in the stores 🙁

    • Victoria levy says:

I think pips has a better dress sense than kate. Its just that she is still simply put very ugly.

      • Decloo says:

        Yikes! That’s just mean.

      • Florc says:

She’s got a hard look to her. Rough and unpolished. She has stayed away from plastic surgery tmk. With all that said she’s far from ugly, beauty and the eye and all that.

    • littlestar says:

I bet your outfit looks great! 🙂

Not sure why mixing brown and black became a fashion no no, because they can look great together.

    • LadyJane says:

As an American living in Europe for the past 10 years, I too used to decry mixing browns and blacks (sometimes black boots with brown clothes but NEVER the opposite). Now I have reformed. I think it looks a bit amateur to be either all black or all brown, like just TOO easy. Like having a matching handbag and shoes and hat. It just looks basic, too parochial. Too American. Brown boots with black jeans brings down the black a bit, making it earthier but still cool.

      • For me, it’s more practical. I’m short so I think black boots/black pants elongates my legs, whereas brown boots/black pants makes me look stumpy. I didn’t realize it was an American thing.

    • We Miss You Enclave_24 says:

Since we’re on the black/brown subject. Yesterday, I wore a calvin klein turtleneck black and brown leopard print sweater dress, black cropped cardigan, black leggings, and brown cowboy boots, Yee-Ha! My first time ever mixing the two colors and I must say I looked fabulous and got lots of compliments from the fella’s……but I also work in a male dominated industry so they’re clueless about female fashion issues.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I love mixing neutrals. I like black and brown together as well as black and navy. And I’m from the South, so there.

  3. Ice Maiden says:

I don’t think she’s toning it down at all. It’s just the lighting. Look at the second photo – she’s still pretty orange.

Remember when tanning was all the rage?
Isn’t it weird how tan skin (whether fake n’ bake/bottled/real) just makes Caucasian skin look old now?

    • littlestar says:

When I was in university, there was a tanning salon AT the school I went to :(. I’d go several days a week after my classes were done for the day. I cringe now just thinking about it and wish I could go back in time and give my younger self a talking to.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Oh I know, hon. In college, we all tanned. I even worked at a tanning salon where tanning was mandatory 🙁

I’m glad that fad is over. LOL

    • justme says:

I’m so glad I never tanned. I have Celtic skin and in fact can’t tan – I can just burn. So I avoided the sun as much as I could (luckily I find going to the beach incredibly boring so I wasn’t terribly tempted) and used sun block (once it came out). My teenage daughter (who has the same kind of skin) told me that she also intends to follow this skin regime since my skin looks so much better than her friends’ mothers who tanned all through their youth.

Pippa however shows the results of too much tanning – she is very fit, but her face has a leathery look already.

  5. Gee says:

Something about her is slightly addictive and I don’t know what it is. What I do know is that the Middleton women have some hard faces. They have well-toned bodies, but their facial features and skin look so worn to have so much money.

  6. Lee says:

Is it really so terrible to just be fair skinned?

I’m fair skinned – I was teased a good bit growing up for my light skin tone. I “tanned” during parts of high school and I regret it now because there is nothing wrong with just being pale.

    • Victoria levy says:

Pips should find something doing not just going for events and trying to over shadow kate

  7. Beep says:

” I’m a Southern girl, and I really feel like you should pair brown boots with black pants, tights or skirts. So, I’m just saying, I’m pleased with Pippa’s ensemble here.”‘

    Wait, should? or Shouldn’t?

  8. Nic says:

She looks really good in these shots.

  9. littlestar says:

I wish I could be Pippa’s stylist. I think it would be fun to give her a completely new look. She has a habit of taking nice pieces and pairing them with things that don’t go together AT ALL.

  10. zinjojo says:

“The sister, she struggles” is my very favorite bitchy Karl Lagerfield quotes of all time! And I agree!

  11. SnarkySnarkers says:

ZOMG! I love this! Look at all the Pippa articles: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/journalists/pippa-middleton/ PIPPA TIPS! 4EVA!

  12. Thinker says:

Becoming a lifestyle/sports columnist and modeling for the accompanying pictures…

Yeah, she REALLY values her privacy. Nothing to look at except a private citizen, no profiteering off your sister’s fame here…

    • Hazel says:

I think the real profiteers are the Telegraph, the Spectator, Vanity Fair, and Waitrose. They’re making far more money than Pippa. And in the publishing world, it’s not unusual for famous people–or the siblings of the famous– to get deals.

  13. justme says:

She writes a column for Waitrose and also a biweekly (or fortnightly to those Anglophiles among us) for the Telegraph. The Telegraph columns are not bad at all – sort of funny and cute. She seems to be doing a minor league George Plimpton – trying various sporting and social things and reporting on them. She got the job because of who she is related to (obviously), but she doesn’t dish on the royals or anything and she is hardly the first person to get a job because of connections. I always find her harmless. She also sometimes gets a piece published in the Spectator and in Vanity Fair. Again fluffy stuff with cheery “jolly hockey sticks” sort of humor.

These pictures are taken near her office in Thurloe Square (if you look at her pics she is always walking down this street!) It was the one she shared back in 2011 with George Percy, which led to massive misunderstanding about their relationship. He moved his company out years ago, but she has remained. It may be that she finds it easier to work away from home – which I can quite understand. She may still “edit” the Party Times blog for all I know. She keeps busy anyway, with lots of time for parties and vacations of course.

  14. Emily says:

What’s that ring that she’s wearing?

    • justme says:

She’s wearing a pinky ring which is a signet ring (which has her new family crest on it). The other ring on her right hand she’s been wearing for years.

I think Kaiser is right that she and Nico have a sort of “understanding”, but nothing official yet.

      • Florc says:

It was suggested in that engagement thread the stories were leaked to seperate outlets to test the waters. US Weekly and People do not (for the most part) just print stories without close sources or publicists feeding info to them.
It’s easily believed they’re engaged, but holding off an announcement. Maybe to overshadow a future royal engagement??? Carole wouldn’t steal Harry’s thunder so maybe Bea?

  15. Fue McCormick says:

I’m not a fan of the Pipster; her outfits (including the one at the top) are always askew. The sweater is not bad, the pants too ordinary to really comment on, but then it falls completely apart with the boots. (Lord, these Middleton women cannot pick a good shoe.) She’s not a handsome woman … and quite frankly she reminds me of a man.
This is the first time I’ve attempted to read one of her columns. To be frank I stopped halfway through due to boredom, but I didn’t find the writing bad. Did she actually write it? Or did someone clean it up for her? I wonder.

  16. Coco says:

I also think it is weird how Middleton women have such bad skin. Kate was a smoker and stopped when she was pregnant but she’s smoking again too. Maybe Pippa smokes too.

  17. st says:

    seriously short legs

  18. Silly says:

Read her writing on party pieces website ! The Telegraph isn’t just editing , they are writing . She is unable to write without restating the same idea in a juvenile way. Uses a thesaurus for her second sentence .

    • Hazel says:

Same thing for Vanity Fair. That is their writing, not Pippa’s. Or it’s heavily, heavily edited.
