Jennifer Lawrence will renew her Dior contract 3 more years for $15-20 million

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence knows when to cut and run. She has long predicted that you’ll grow tired of her. She cannot disappear for too long in the midst of awards season, and she can’t take an extended vacation until Mockingjay ends in 2015. You have to give her credit for hiding while she can. Jennifer hasn’t even attended all of the awards shows this season. She’s not trying to push herself into your face, but it can’t be helped. For instance, Empire has published their new covers for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and JLaw’s Mystique bodypaint is front and center.

Jennifer is also the subject of an intense bidding war between fashion houses to dress her for all premieres and awards shoe. She was named a face of Dior back in October 2012 and has modelled tailored businesswear and overrated handbags. She wears their dresses to nearly all events, and Dior must love the “everyday girl” exposure. After all, Jennifer sprawled all over the Oscar stairs as she was wearing one of their designs. I guess Dior’s deal with JLaw was a short-term one, and now they want to tie her down for three more years. At a cost of $15 to $20 million. Get that cash, girl:

American Hustle star Jennifer Lawrence is set to sign a multimillion dollar deal with Dior for a three-year partnership, Page Six can exclusively reveal.

The deal between the Hollywood star and the Paris fashion house is worth between $15 and $20 million, and the talks are being brokered through her agents at CAA, we’re told.

Lawrence became a spokeswoman for Dior in 2012, after starring in the first Hunger Games film, and Dior creative director Raf Simons said of Lawrence at the time: “I was . . . struck by her incredible on-screen presence in these blockbuster films, but also . . . by her powerful interpretations of subtler, more rounded characters.”

Soon after, the actress was appearing in a campaign for Miss Dior, and creating memorable awards-show moments in Dior designs. At last year’s SAG Awards, the Silver Linings Playbook star wore a tiered blue gown, and when she rose to pick up her best actress honor, a panel of fabric was accidentally exposed. Many viewers believed the dress fell apart, but its designer explained it was the gown’s tulle and satin layers that were revealed, and, It was not ripped and there was no malfunction.

The actress got even more attention in Dior when she later fell up the stairs at the Oscars in a gorgeous fit-for-Hollywood white Dior frock.

On the awards circuit this season, a full-length white gown with black bands worn to the Golden Globes for American Hustle sparked endless online memes.

Reps for Dior, CAA and Lawrence had no comment. But a Hollywood source said, “There’s no signed deal, but Jennifer’s had a great relationship with Dior to date, and is open to the idea of continuing a partnership. But there’s no deal in place.” Another source tells us that Dior wants to dress Lawrence exclusively for the red carpet and shut out other design houses that are vying to work with the Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee.”

[From Page Six]

I don’t see any harm in this at all. Jennifer gets paid a ton of money to never have to worry about what to wear on the red carpet. She has an instant excuse to refuse Harvey Weinstein’s suggestions of Marchesa. She’s going to be at these awards shows and premieres anyway, right? Plus JLaw will appear at a few fashion shows and do a few more shoots. Dior must be thrilled to have her, and she’s making the mad money as she farts in her couture. You know she does that.

LOL! So she’ll happily take MILLIONS of dollars to appear in ridiculously photoshopped ads for a Paris fashion house, and in her spare time will lecture us about how oppressive conventional images of beauty are?

I mean, I don’t blame her for taking the cash (even though she and Dior are a marriage made in hell) but I can do without her hand-wringing over ‘body image’.

    • Lindy79 says:

I have to agree on all counts.
I like her but I don’t get the connection with Dior. and she doesn’t even seem that comfortable being the face of a fashion house, as in she doesn’t really like to talk about it much when asked.

    • Tapioca says:

Exactly. It’s like Leo DiCaprio lecturing about the environment whilst swanning around in private planes. At least J-Lo is materialist and completely shameless about it – no giving her baby pic cash to charity!

    • SonjaMarmeladova says:

And then when asked what she’s wearing, she’ll say A DRESS or talk about armpit vaginas.
      I don’t buy what she’s selling.
Adele refused L’Oreal, I wish more stars were like that.

      • Zadie says:

Yeah, why represent a fashion house if you can’t be bothered to even talk about them. I’m so over this girl.
The backlash is coming. Slowly, but it’s coming.

    • Artemis says:

This x10000. First comment summed it up perfectly.

And also agree on the fact that Dior and her are a marriage made in hell. They make her look so bad. The aesthetic is wrong.

I don’t hate Jlaw but to be honest, for somebody who is so ‘down to earth’ and unfazed by Hollywood, she sure as hell is quite good at branding herself. This girl is a brand now, smart move but personality wise, I really don’t buy this perpetual goofball act. There is more to her.

      edit to add:

      @Sonja
yeah Adele shows who she is, what you see is what you get. She wants to make music and that’s it. Jlaw is more calculated.

    • Sumodo1 says:

@Sonja and @Zadie! JL is circling the chairs right now, so she can take a seat!

  2. Hannah says:

    NOOOO!!!!

    • Liv says:

At least she gets money out of it. Guess that’s the only good thing about it. Seriously, she’s a young woman and all they come up with are boring dresses!

      • Anna says:

She could be making money with another brand too, one that suits her image and aesthetic better. Calvin Klein, for example. It’s not like the biggest rising star in the world would be unemployed. So I just do not understand this coupling.

      • Liv says:

Me neither. I agree that she could find a better partner in fashion. But she works with Rachel Zoe, who I find pretty horrible too, so whatever 😉

  3. blue marie says:

Good for her, I’m not a fan of all her looks but I can’t blame the girl for getting the cash.

    • Shannon1972 says:

Yep, I would look like a hot mess every time I hit an event too if they paid me $15 mil! Dior is in shambles…they need Galliano back. He’s an awful person (I’m Jewish, not defending him), but he is ridiculously talented as a designer.

    • emmie_a says:

I agree Blue Marie. I’d happily wear red carpet disasters while counting my millions!

  4. L says:

Except all her nearly all her dresses with Dior have looked awful. (mostly because Dior is awful these days but that’s another story)

Her two best most unforgettable looks are Calvin Klein (the red dress when she was nominated for Winters Bone, and that AMAZING gold dress from last year) . CK should bid harder for her.

    • Dingo says:

      This!

    • Shannon1972 says:

I think it can be argued that the red CK dress cemented her celebrity. Everyone stood up and took notice of her in that dress. Such a simple design, and she was stunning.

    • qwerty says:

Yep. Literally every dress she’s worn from Dior has been terrible, haven’t seen anything even remotely interesting on her in a while. She’s the worst dressed young actress atm in my opinion.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree, I wish she’d wear Calvin Klein more and do a deal with them. I can’t blame her for taking the big $ deals though, plus she can turn around and wear something better for the after parties and get double the fashion attention.

    • SonjaMarmeladova says:

Her best look was the Dior dress from this year SAGs. That Calvin Klein looked like a copy of ScarJo’s dress.

    • kibbles says:

Agreed. Just wrote a comment below saying I’d wish she’d partner with Calvin Klein. They know how to dress her in simple designs that accentuate her assets. She’s not the type of fashion girl who looks good in haute couture. Natalie Portman is a great fit for Dior. Jennifer belongs with a more clean and simplistic fashion house like CK. Hope she makes the switch.

  5. harpreet says:

See for JLaw, this is strictly business.

She admits she is not a fashionista. She gets a steady line of haute couture to choose from every red carpet. Not to mention 15 million!

Fashion wise, I’ve alway thought Jenn is a CK girl. Dior’s choices for her fall flat. All my fav looks from her have been in CK.

  6. Patricia says:

If only they would put her in dresses that don’t look like the top is falling down! I
actually like the dresses for the most part except I want to grab the tops if the sleeveless ones and hike them UP! That drives me so crazy.

  7. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, Dior, by all means pay fifteen million dollars for a “face” that is famous for fart jokes and flipping people off at awards ceremonies. So elegant. Do continue to slide into oblivion at a record pace. Your fashions deserve it.

    • Ice Maiden says:

I have a hard time seeing the sense in Dior signing up every young Hollywood actress, but presumably they have accountants and PR people who have thought long and hard about this. I don’t see Jennifer as a good match for Dior at ALL but maybe they feel that she is helping to expose them to a younger, international audience. Either way, Dior’s designs are so awful these days that not even Charlize or Marion – let along Jennifer – look good in them.

The fact of the matter is they badly need Galliano back, however questionable a character he may be.

      • loveisthecoal says:

Dior seems to have a terrible track record of getting people who don’t fit their brand at all to shill for them. That’s not meant as an insult–it’s just that the most recent faces of Dior I can think of off the top of my head are Jennifer, Mila Kunis, Robert Pattinson–none of whom suit Dior’s aesthetic. As many others have said, I’ve been praying for years for a Jennifer/Calvin Klein partnering.

      • Shannon1972 says:

Dior has no rudder at all these days. There is no coherence or vision. It is just tossing about hoping to find some traction in a famous young face…any famous young face, it seems. Unfortunately, despite having some bright stars as their “faces”, they have become hopelessly uncool and bit embarrassing.
As I said upthread, they need Galliano back. He is a design genius who makes women look absolutely breath taking. Terrible person, but one of the most talented designers fashion has ever seen. No one has been able to step into his shoes.

  8. bammer says:

So will she stop complaining about being famous? This is from the Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart playbook. Complain about being famous and all the pressure they are under as serious artists. Constantly state they don’t really love fashion but sign up for multi million dollar contracts to get more press and attention. Alrighty then.

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

      It’s typical J Law
She’s the avocate of positive body image and in same time she fat-shames Christian Bale and she loves photo-shop
She says she doesn’t diet but she’s thinner than last year
She says she is not interested by the fashion but she’s the face of haute couture brand

      • lai says:

FINALLY! ugh so tired of this girl. she’s been slowly but surely losing weight, in a way that she could keep up her “i eat pizza all day” routine. She comes off like a rude person with comments about Chaz Bono and the cat, and a whole bunch of other stuff people give her passes for. I can’t actually wait until she gets the fuck off every website.

    • Mark says:

Exactly it’s the typical celebrity move and also she can stop rolling her eyes or give a stupid answers when being asked about fashion tips or what she is wearing. She can stop talking abotu positive body images now she’s making money from these fashion labels, how many ‘real women’ do we see with these companies?

    • tracy says:

Rob does not represent a clothing line with Dior. He is the face for a fragrance. Kristen just signed up a few months ago for a clothing line. Before she just represented two fragrances. And her clothing line contract is for casual clothes. People change. People ideas and beliefs change. After years on the red carpet , maybe Kristen and Jennifer have changed their minds. What seems like a firm belief at 19, 20, or 21, may change, people grow and change. I just wish Jennifer would at least be proud of Dior.

  9. Tig says:

I agree- get the cash, but so wish she was matched up with a design house that knew what to do with her! You sort of wonder where all the talented designers are- surely they are out there, tho clearly not at Dior at present.

  10. kibbles says:

I would really like to see her in a partnership with Calvin Klein. She always looks good in their dresses. Of course, Dior is offering her a deal that is hard to refuse, but there must be other fashion houses who will pay her the same amount to dress her. If CK offered her $10-15mil, she should take it and drop Dior. She doesn’t really need the money at this point and she’d look so much better on the red carpet in CK. I agree that her partnership with Dior is a match made in hell. They probably both know they are a bad fit for each other, but Dior wants the IT girl wearing their clothes and Jennifer wants the money. Hope she turns it down though.

  11. Kasia says:

Too bad Dior’s dresses suck (Raf Simons is a poor designer, I’m afraid). I would love to see JLaw in some of Galliano’s designs. And I totally agree that she should become a face of CK rather than Dior.

    • Zadie says:

I don’t think she would look good in Galliano’s dresses either. She looks like the girl next door and need simplistic styling.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Yeah, Jennifer needs simple designs and above all, SIMPLE makeup. Half the issue is that they try and do these complicated makeup tricks with her–it doesn’t fit her. She looks her best when she’s make up free, I think.

      • Shannon1972 says:

Galliano could design for her. He did an entire season of simple suits (a throwback to the original Dior Look) with fabric and tailoring that was absolute genius. Since she’s stuck with Dior now, he could work with her. Not sure he would want to though. She’s a little too earthy for ethereal Galliano Dior.
I know everyone is saying that CK is so good for her, but I think he can be very severe. I think she would look pretty in soft tailoring, and I don’t see a whole partnership based one dress (which admittedly knocked it out of the park). However….There are plenty of minimalist design houses out there that could have done it.
Come to think of it, I don’t see Jennifer doing high fashion at all. She should just work with Michael Kors or Ralph Lauren…universally accessible for the girls next door.

  12. Lydia says:

How much money do you think she has at this point? No doubt she gets a cut of the Hunger Games movie profits. Plus this. $50 mil? Get money, Jen. I’d wear ugly couture for that kind of cash. She’s set for life at 23 plus has a Lead Actress Oscar. lol.

  13. Irishae says:

It’s obvious how uncomfortable she is wearing Dior. She certainly doesn’t shy from letting us know. So while I have nothing against making some good money and am generally a fan of hers, the pairing reeks of Kristen Stewart/Balenciaga bullshit. I was hoping she would run for the hills of CK, Michael Kors, or Gucci. Stuff she actually looks good in.

    • tracy says:

Except that the pairing of Kristen Stewart and Balenciaga makes sense. She likes their clothes. She looks good in their clothes. She was friends with the designer. And she was not signed on to Balenciaga for fashion, she represents two of their fragrances. Kristen does not represent Balenciaga clothes. She is not signed on to represent a more casual line of Chanel clothes. Kristen representing a casual clothing line makes sense.
Jennifer is a hypocrite. She talks about the word fat should be out banned. Talks about photoshopping being wrong. Then signs up to represent a clothing line. Then puts the clothes down.

      • Tig says:

How well she looked in Balenciaga when NG was the designer is debateable. And if the awful Chanel outfit she wore at the recent Dallas event is an indication of what the “casual” line will look like, it’ll be a hard sell regardless of which ” face” is assigned to it.

      • tracy says:

Jennifer does not look terrible in Dior, but she is paid to wear their clothes. She looks neither happy or comfortable, with the line she is paid to represent. Kristen, in your opinion may not look great in Balenciaga, but she loved their clothes. She was happy and comfortable wearing them. And she was not paid to wear them. I guess I have more respect for the person, wearing clothes, they actually love. Maybe both girls could look better, but at least, Kristen loves the dresses. As for Chanel, Kristen look extremely happy wear Chanel, last year at Paris fashion week and in Karl’s new line. She looks proud to represent Chanel. Can’t say the same for JL.

  14. Caroline says:

NONONO. She does not fit with the Dior image…plus she always look so awkward in those gowns!! The only time she looked flawless was in the red Calvin Klein dress at some awards show.

  15. lai says:

I liked her when she first came out because she didn’t talk so much, now that she’s finally opened up her mouth, I’d like to super glue that shit back together. She needs to go away for a long long time until she’s not the it-girl anymore, although I’m sure she’s enjoying it.
