Brandi Glanville: ‘Eddie and I were never truly rich. We were ghetto rich’

wenn225051

Brandi Glanville is still talking. Which is unfortunate. I feel like there are very few celebrities who understand one of the cardinal rules of good PR: when you’ve done something wrong or you’ve pissed people off, go away for a while. Get out of the public eye, stop talking, give people time to move on and /or actually miss you. Brandi does not understand that. Brandi keeps talking her way into a rapidly thinning fanbase. Anyway, Brandi has a new interview with The Times (UK), which is subscription-only for online content, so I’m getting these quotes from secondary sources. Some highlights from Brandi’s interview:

Her financial situation while married to Eddie Cibrian: “We lived in Los Angeles, surrounded by some of the wealthiest people in the world, but Eddie and I were never truly rich. We were ghetto rich. We had the nice cars, the nice house and the nice jewels, but we probably had a second and a third mortgage. We were living paycheck to paycheck, with no savings.”

Caring about finances while married: “That wasn’t my job in the relationship.”

Her role as Eddie’s wife: “I had a hot dinner served on time every night and I looked great on his arm. That was my role.”

Life post-divorce: “I don’t live beyond my means. I go to the 99 Cent Store. I’m not trying to keep up with the Kardashians.”

She turned to reality TV after Eddie cut up her credit cards: “Am I getting notoriety for being an a**hole on TV? Yes. But guess what? I’ve saved X amount of dollars in the bank and will be fine without a man taking care of me.”

Her “relatively typical” childhood: Her father was the local pot dealer and “my [hippy] mother regularly failed to wear undergarments.”

Her behavior on RHOBH: “Do I mess up? Yes. Does it usually affect anyone other than myself? No.”

[From Radar & Us Weekly]

Ugh. I hate this for so many reasons. First of all, I think it’s a dangerous message to put out there to women that you can be oblivious to your financial situation while married and then everything will work out in the end because someone will hire you on a reality show. That’s NOT the American Dream. I understand that she’s trying to be blasé and cynical about her marriage to Eddie, but it’s like she’s completely abdicated responsibility for her joint finances.

A few more things – Brandi played the “pity poor me” card again in a recent blog post when she was complaining about how she doesn’t have medical insurance because she has a pre-existing condition. Apparently, she didn’t have the money to have a doctor look at her hand last year. But she has money for Botox, hair extensions and vats of liquor?

Ughhh why is she still talking about Eddie. Time to move on!

    • Sienna says:

Give her time – it has only been a few years.

If she continues to talk about her relationship with her ex husband and his current partner and children after 9 years like Jennifer Aniston and her friends do – then you can call her pathetic and ask her to stop talking.

    • Jessiebes says:

Agreed. However I actually split up with my ex at the same time as her and I don’t ever think and/ or mention my ex anymore (except now but for a reason) but we didn’t have kids together. Also I don’t have the new wife of ex in the public arena, which keeps reminding me of the infidelity that caused the breakup.

Secondly, it seems that Brandi does this to keep relevant, this story does bring in the money for her and she has precious other talents to make money.

Thirdly, her ex and new wife are basing a reality show which partly is about Brandi (played by an actor), so it’s not like they have moved on.

So all in all, I give Brandi a pass.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

It’s been FIVE years! Ok, so one could argue that there is no set timetable on getting over someone, but why would she even want to give him the satisfaction?

Let me answer my own question: Brandi still talks about him because that sordid triangle is the only thing that keeps her relevant, gets her press, and thus ensures her spot on a sh*tty reality TV show.

    • MrsBPitt says:

The thing is, when you have kids with someone, unfortunately, you are linked together for life…or at least until your kids are 18! But I do agree she should stop talking about him in public…

      • Kimble says:

My 23 year old son gets married this June, his relationship with his dad (and therefore mine – ugh) is for life – it certainly didn’t stop once he was 18!!!

  2. Greata says:

    Please go away.

  3. Hannah says:

WAIT! Why on earth is THE TIMES (!) talking to Brandi Glanville????

  4. JudyK says:

I’m over Brandi. Can’t believe I liked her a couple of seasons ago on RHOBH.

She was actually beautiful when married to Squint Eyes. Why did she mess with her face. Sad.

    • Just Me says:

RHOBH has been my secret vice since season 1. Not even my hubby knows I watch it. It’s the only HW franchise I watch, and I do it in secret on iTunes when no one is around. Meaning, I actually pony up and purchase a season pass at the start of the season b/c I’m out of the U.S. Used to love this show and I used to loooove Brandi. Have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt all season long. I really, really hope she’s just following a producer manufactured plot line because I’m not digging her personality or choices this season. I really don’t understand her beef with Lisa. It doesn’t make sense unless they were told to fight to boost ratings. Unfortunately, it has had the opposite affect on me. I don’t really want to watch anymore and I’m not sure I’ll spring for a Season Pass next year. It’s all so trainwreck and stupid.

  5. PixelEight says:

Eddie is the best thing that ever happened to her. Without him, she wouldn’t have anything to talk (complain) about. Please go away…

  6. bammer says:

Ask some people on the show like Adrienne’s kids if what she said had an effect on them.

    • Bridget says:

You know, Adrienne didn’t have to lie in the first place. Or go on a reality show. Generally, if you have a secret that you don’t want getting out (even though everyone already knows) don’t go on a reality show. Those kids shouldn’t be embarrassed that they were carried by a surrogate, but they’re probably pretty embarrassed by their mom’s behavior for the last few years.

      • Luca26 says:

So by that logic people who adopted their children or use surrogates are excluded from living a public life? I don’t get it. Adrienne was annoying sure but birth certificates are sealed for a reason.

      • Gia says:

Luca – they aren’t excluded from living a public life but they are making a choice that will also make their secrets public. Can’t have it both ways. It’s not like Adrienne needed the money either. She wanted fame and that is the choice she made.

      • Luca26 says:

@ Gia I remember at the time this happened Brandi was at the peak of her popularity so she was able to get away with what she did coming out with her fans basically sainting her blaming the victim (Adrienne ). The thing is the way she treated Adrienne totally fits into her M.O. and is pretty much the same way she’s treating Joyce. I can’t imagine a circumstance where it’s Ok to publicly out someone for their child’s surrogacy or adoption. Sure it was wrong of Adrienne to pretend but what Brandi did was just skeevy, vindictive and cruel and the real victim was Adrienne’s kids that found a secret out in the most traumatic way possible. She has proven over and over again that she really is a bully.

      • bammer says:

Nope, Adrienne didn’t have to go on a reality show or lie about giving birth. Nor did Brandi have to gleefully expose this information when she knew cameras were rolling at a group dinner. Adrienne wasn’t even there. Adrienne also never had her kids faces on camera. The other castmembersin conflict with Adrienne never discussed her surrogacy. It should have been off limits. It’s just a nasty thing to do to your co worker.

      • aaa says:

Regardless of whether Adrienne Maloof is/was a liar or was keeping secrets while living a public life, that does not make Brandi Glanville any less of a low life scum for outing how Adrienne’s children came into this world.

      • jaye says:

That is true, Luca, but it wasn’t Brandi’s secret to tell.

  7. NorthernGirl_20 says:

I was a fan of hers, I bought her book and I liked it.. but yeah I’m not liking her so much anymore. What really gets my goat is her always crying poverty and poor me BUT .. she can afford botox, fillers, hair extensions etc etc.. Get your priorities straight. Geez. And I find her extremely immature.

  8. Luca26 says:

If she can get Botox and a new vagina she can get her hand fixed. I can’t wait for this one to go away.

  9. eliza says:

Actually her actions DO “affect” others on that show, not just her. She brought someone’s surrogacy issue into the light which had an impact on that family. She has gone after Lisa, Kyle and Joyce which were attacks on them as people, so how do her actions not impact others?

She needs to shut it about Eddie. That ship has sailed. You are not the only woman to have been cheated on. Join the club and MOVE ON.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Agree with both points.

A big part of her problem is that she won’t accept that her actions and mean statements do affect other people, not just her. She isn’t sorry she did it, she’s just sorry she got called out for it.

Move on, woman. You have milked the Eddie cow dry.

    • emmie_a says:

I don’t watch the show but I thought there was a big story behind the surrogacy issue? I don’t think you’re telling the whole story if you simply blame it all on Brandi.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Basically, everyone knew that Adrienne had used a surrogate, but she lied about it on the show, going so far as to make up a story about when she was “in labor.” Then she and Brandi had a falling out and Brandi revealed the surrogacy thing on camera. I don’t blame that entirely on Brandi, although I don’t think she should have done it. Adrienne should have made a choice between her privacy and being on a reality TV show, and she shouldn’t have actively lied about it. Also, it’s none of my business, but she probably should have told her children about it as soon as they could understand. This way, they found out about it in a public way, which was a shame. Brandi just blurts out really hurtful things when she’s angry, then acts like the victim when people get mad at her for it. And I say this as someone who prefers Brandi to Adrienne.

      • bbb1975 says:

No, there was no big story behind the surrogacy. Brandi got pissed at Adrienne and told everyone at a dinner that Adrienne had lied about giving birth to her twins. She really used a surrogate, Thats it, Brandi gets mad, throws a tantrum like a 5 yr old and the runs for cover crying…I’m a single mom who just tells the truth, don’t be mad at me!

      • eliza says:

Lol. Ok. Not here to argue. Just my opinion. Not that big of a deal. I am not a Brandi fan. Never going to change.

      • Madame says:

Adrienne may have been telling the truth about giving birth, just not to her living children. I’m sorry to say I have had my share of fertility issues. Have I been pregnant? Yes. Have I given birth? Yes. Do I have any children? (This question always cuts me) Sadly, no. Adrienne had her right to privacy regardless of being on a reality show. That is a federally protected right (HIPPA). Brandi was really cruel when she did that to Adrienne. To me, it was obvious from everyones reaction there was more to the story, and a major boundary violation. I never understood with all the wild speculation no one every entertained the idea of stillbirth. I guess even when we are gossiping we want to pretend things like that can’t happen. How it would feel when women together are discussing giving birth, and you have your story too. The one that makes all the mothers cry.
I just think it is time to give Adrienne a break. She didn’t say anything to wound anyone else. I would rather save my bitchy for people who have earned it in all my viperish glory.

      • claire says:

They were all fighting because Adrienne wouldn’t do anything about her chef who was selling negative stories about her castmates. The surrogacy thing had been speculated on for a couple years before Brandi even get on the show. It was written about in blogs, etc. I don’t know if Brandi found out about it from those write-ups, or her castmates, but she blurted it out as an example of the elaborate lies Adrienne tells. It was not shown on the show, it was bleeped out. But that led to the legal issues between her and Adrienne and Bravo. Personally, if it’s already all over the web, and you are going on a reality show, I think as a parent you should probably have had that talk before then, knowing there were already many ways those kids could have found out. And maybe she already had, but didn’t want it covered on the show. I don’t think it’s ever been said if that forced Adrienne’s hand. Either way, Brandi shouldn’t have gone there.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        @Madame
You make some excellent points, and my heart goes out to you. I never thought that perhaps her story was true.

      • aaa says:

Everyone did not know that Adrienne used a surrogate, some did and many more guessed, but it is not well known even by people in her neck of the woods.

Adrienne gave birth to her oldest child, so she was not lying when she was talking about what happened when he was born. But when Brandi, who was setting Adrienne up, asked Adrienne whether she had her twins by Caesarean, all Adrienne did was say yes, which was a lie, however she did elaborate on it.

It was a low-life thing that Brandi did when she outed the surrogacy. I am still not clear on what Adrienne did to Brandi, but even Lisa Vanderpump and Andy Cohen have asked Brandi about it and she changes the subject or says something general like, “they were horrible to me,” so I am not the only one in the dark about what it is exactly that Adrienne did to Brandi.

Maybe Brandi did have some legitimate gripes against Adrienne, but outing the surrogacy was the equivalent of Brandi bringing a gun to a knife fight.

      • mayamae says:

The story gets very complicated, and as it does so, Brandi looks worse. Brandi most likely got the surrogacy info from her friend, who happens to be Adrienne’s attorney. Adrienne then sent a cease and desist letter to the attorney, and Brandi spent half the season crying that she was being sued (which was a lie),” I’m a single mother, I’ve spent thousands on attorney fees to defend myself”, etc.

Brandi was never sued but kept the story going through the reunion. There’s more to the story than is commonly known, and many suspect Brandi also outed the surrogate, which is a huge privacy issue.

Brandi laughs all the way to the bank, because I’ve heard many fans say they bought her book to support the poor beleaguered single mother.

      • jaye says:

@Madam…HIPAA doesn’t apply to private citizens, Only healthcare entities like Insurance companies and providers.

  10. Patricia says:

Ugh, Brandi nobody feels bad for you.
She’s so full of herself “oh I just had to look good on his arm”. You look ghetto on his arm!
Keep talking Brandi… Just keep on talking lol.

  11. Ellie66 says:

She needs to dial it down a lot! They were a pretty couple but now her face is yikes! And he is still a douche!

  12. BendyWindy says:

“…and I looked great on his arm.”

    Not really.

    • Ok says:

      Bendy — ouch.

I think she really DID look great on his arm.
They were a VERY attractive couple

And she is still a very pretty woman. I think some of the still photos that get posted on this site are not the most flattering. But if you watch the show, Brandi is a very beautiful woman. She really is pretty

      • tessy says:

She was stunning before she messed with her face. I don’t get why these gals have to do that, a woman can be beautiful at all ages unless they persist into turning themselves into wax dummies.

  13. Bravocueen says:

She’s really gorgeous. I don’t watch the show but only because I think they’re all pretty much assholes. Her “job” is to stay in the press. Love her or hate her, she’s making a mint off of what she’s got and supporting her kids. Unlike her ex.

  14. babythestarsshinebrite says:

Brandi, if you have X amount of $s in the bank and can afford Botox and hair extensions buy not have medical coverage, then your still “Ghetto Rich”.

    • Madame says:

Let us not forget the beleaguered assistant that was fired for loosing the dog. The dog with NO COLAR! How the heck can she say she is down to earth, blah blah blah, and have an assistant?

Brandi is detestable. Eddie’s callus behavior takes on a whole new meaning with time. I felt sorry for her before, thought she was fun. Now she disgusts me (eg// tampon string incident, fork to my eyes, fork to my eyes). Joyce harassment, Lisa hate, peodophile jokes. The list is to damn long. Gaw

    • aaa says:

      @babythestarsshinebrite ,
      EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. MDawg says:

Most of these new comments are quotes from her first book. I think only three of them aren’t.

  16. Maggie says:

I didn’t get that from those quotes. I took it that she got screwed and she did what she had to.

I’m more intrigue about her parents, more than anything.

    • foxyw says:

I didn’t get that, either. I took it as more that Eddie just wanted to handle the finances, so she let him, which a lot of couples do. They split up stuff like that. And she now realizes it was a mistake to not be involved in the finances. She realizes how important it is to be self-sufficient and to not depend on another very fallible human being to handle everything for her. And if that means going on a reality show to get her financial footing back, so be it. It might literally be the only skill she has.

I dislike most things this woman does, but I think Kaiser’s assessment of this one is a bit unfair.

      • holly hobby says:

I read her book and she said she couldn’t have taken care of the finances if she wanted to because Eddie’s momma did everything. All the bank stmts and bills got routed to Momma. That’s why she never caught on he was banging and wasting money on MeAnn.

It’s not that she gave up her right to know, he took it away from her.

    • Tulilp Garden says:

What I got from her “Eddie handled the finances “statements was that she was simply telling the truth. Is she saying “so it isn’t my fault”? idk but I don’t think that she was advocating for other women to follow her lead by not being aware of family finances. She might even be a strong advocate not to do that or, inadvertently, a dire warning from what could happen if you do. Lastly, both men and women make can and do make this mistake in marriage.

    • Christin says:

I think the real takeaway is that a couple should have awareness of the finances. We *probably* had a second or third mortgage? As in she still doesn’t know what debt they had? It’s a cautionary tale.

I recall her saying that his mother handled the finances / bill paying (which I found a little odd for two grown ups).

  17. Erinn says:

Eddie used to be so much better looking. He is not aging well.

    • OutoftheLoop says:

Agreed. They both looked better before the Leann scandal. Now, both Brandi and Eddie’s looks are slipping. I won’t even comment on Leann’s.

      • Lady D says:

Have you checked out the FishWrapper site? Non-stop raving about how beautiful, stunning, etc., falcor is. The writer was drooling over falcor’s natural beauty, and how much more gorgeous she was without makeup. Sad.

      • aaa says:

Fishwrapper must have new writers, because they used to always trash Leann.

  18. Jayna says:

I love her poor me excuses. She said in her blog about not getting her hand looked at that she didn’t want to take away from her kids. Oh, poor, long-suffering, super mom, not spending money on medical care but wait, doesn’t she spend lots of money on fillers, botox, clothes, hair extensions, blonde highlights, alcohol, going out. That’s why she has to shop at the Dollar Store for real essentials LOL.

I was always self-employed and had my own insurance. I had pre-existing conditions. You absolutely can get insurance. Sometimes depending on the pre-existing they put a rider on that for a number of years but cover you for everything else. Any good insurance agent would find her a plan. It sounds more like she just didn’t want to pay a lot of money a month for insurance so rolled the dice. She was making a lot of money by this time and could afford to make a doctor’s appointment and go to the doctor for a fractured hand to get an x-ray and getthe splint she was always tweeting photos of with her hand after she finally went. When you go to the doctor or hospital without insurance and pay cash they reduce the charges.

    • Christin says:

At one time, being on antidepressants was considered higher risk (and thus possibly a higher premium). Regardless of what her pre-existing was, I think she chose to not search out a policy and pay premiums, and thus she chose to pay out of pocket once she had a medical issue. Some people are willing to take that gamble.

Those elective things she’s clearly done probably rank higher than paying medical insurance premiums each month. All that elective stuff has to be refreshed, which just creates ongoing expenses.

    • anon33 says:

      THIS.

I have so many friends who are in that exact same situation and guess what? They did the responsible thing and bought the policy that they could afford within whatever parameters were set for the pre-existing condition. She is 100% outright LYING if she is saying she “couldn’t find” coverage. The coverage is out there. She just didn’t want to pay for it.

Also wanted to point out that it’s fine to take that gamble (as per Christin above) WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE KIDS.

    • betty says:

Who told you that lie? Hospital have certain rates like everybody else. I sure would like to know the name of the hospital you are speaking of.I didn’t know hospitals gave discounts to cash customers

      • Abbicci says:

At the hospital, go to the billing department. Ask for a cash discount or whatever discounts are available. Do not talk to anyone at the ER desks or anyone like that. Just the billing department.

The first time I had to do this I was so nervous the woman at the billing department felt so bad for me I ended up having a few fees and costs eliminated and others reduced from an ER visit. The second time was for minor surgery on my hand and I went before the surgery to talk about the billing. I got discounts on everything but the anesthesiologist.

      • msw says:

They certainly do. It’s not like it’s written in God’s Handbook or anything, but they do. Part of my job as a medical social worker is helping patients navigate insurance issues and helping them arrange payment plans with the hospital. Many doctor/dentist offices will also reduce a fee for people paying without insurance.

This break to indigent consumers is part of why our insurance prices are so high. They make up for those who can’t pay.

  19. V4Real says:

    Ghetto Rich?

So I guess Brandi and Eddie were driving Caddys, had no credit but wads of cash while living in his mother’s basement. That’s what some people call Ghetto rich.

  20. Neffie says:

How the tides have turn Brandi seems to be getting more vitriol than Leanne this days.

    • Cecilia says:

That’s because Brandi knows Eddie & Leanne are dunzo.

    • Square Bologna says:

*breaks into a heartfelt rendition of “The Circle of Life” *

    • claire says:

Well being on a show each week gives her much more exposure.
Just us wait until that show of Leann and Eddie’s airs. LOL. Although you never know, it’s so scripted that it might not give much real evidence into Leann’s own version of crazy! 😉

  21. HadleyB says:

Actually this is a good message to all the young soon to be wives out there — don’t play housewife and ignore the money. Or you might end up broke if you ever get divorced or even if you stay married. You HAVE communicate with money in your relationship.

So I think it’s good she said it — and most people should be aware a reality show won’t save THEM like it did her. She got lucky.

I don’t agree with her actions but at least she did what she had to do to get $$ saved and hopefully after Bravo ends all these dumb shows she won’t piss it away and end up broke at 50 with her face falling.

  22. Ang says:

Eddie even looked better with her. He has lost his hotness since Falcor!! I think she was asked bout Eddie and she answered. I will not defend her actions on the show, but it’s all for show!

  23. We Are All Made of Stars says:

Is she seriously wearing a giant leprechaun belt at the waist of her too-short peasant top which doesn’t cover the belt loops of her pants? Thought so. The sparkly dress in the next picture is cute though.

  24. Stacey says:

Brandi- go complain on twitter some more that nobody likes you. You should instead be doing some soul searching as to why those closest to you, are now turned off by you and avoid you.

Use to love her but she is immature and parties too much for a mother her age. And the way she brags about a her shallow dating and gross sex life is sad and pathetic. Its not cool to be 40+ and dating a bunch of creepy men at the same time. Icky. Grow up.

Employed / best selling author and Grown woman with two kids doesnt buy health insurance? Bad idea. Way to bankrupt yourself and screw your kids if something catastrophic happens to you. Idiot. Yet she wears skanky designer dresses, always has manicured nails, a trainer, botox, fillers and her ratchet hair done. She’s so full of it. No wonder Eddie dumped her. And yea yea, I know Brandi says she’s the one who dumped him but i dont buy that…he is the one that refused to stop seeing leann and HE filed for divorce first. She just is full of bs and is trying to save face.

  25. Unbeweavable says:

She’s such an idiot. She really needs to shut it and leave a little mystery to her life. I totally believe though that they were keeping up with the Joneses and living paycheck to paycheck. My sister lives that way. Nails and hair are always done, expensive makeup always worn, always has a new (leased) car and is always dead broke. It’s always annoyed me seeing other women trying so hard to give the impression that they’re rich.

  26. emmie_a says:

I’m not a fan of Brandi’s but I disagree that she’s putting a ‘dangerous message’ out there just because she’s talking about her life and/or shortcomings. Does every single interview have to have a bigger agenda? Why can’t it just be Brandi being the airhead that she’s always been? I think you can look at her life decisions and actions and realize if you’re taking any advice from her, to proceed with caution.

  27. bettyrose says:

Actually, when she discussed this in her book I thought it was a warning to women. I don’t see anything offensive about what she’s said here.

    • Relli says:

See me either, but I think if you don’t like someone its easier to see their faults. I see like 3-4 inaccuracies on this board regarding what she has and hasn’t done but I don’t care enough to correct anyone. Not because I am over her but over her naysayers its the same thing over and over again. You want to nail someone to a cross fine, but for goodness sakes come up with better reason than “she’s trashy,” or Leann, or use any sort of RHW footage as biblical truth because you know there is A LOT of editing. She can can do bad all on her own, nail her on that stuff.

    • Brown Eyed Girl says:

yeah this seems like its just a reiteration of whats in her book about not being oblivious to your finances even when your husband takes care of it. Im in my late twenties but I still have friends who let their husbands handle the money while they get an allowance and they are happy with that.

If i did that, my house would be full of big screen tvs and an x box in every room and we’d eat Digorno pizza with mountain dew for dinner every night.

      • here's Wilson says:

lol.. my house was like that when I first moved in with my boyfriend….complete with Steelers and Elvis every damn where (I do love my Steelers tho)

since we’ve started teaming up to do our finances everything has changed for the better… buy buy Xboxes and Elvis statutes!

      • here's Wilson says:

I hate seeing my own typos

    • Gia says:

I agree. I don’t get all the Brandi hate all of a sudden. She’s exactly the same as she has always been. Build em up and tear em down I guess.? I wish her continued success. She’s come out of a nightmare situation and made it work in her favour…making mistakes the whole way through, just like the rest of the world.

      • Jayna says:

For most fans watching the show Brandi has changed (or this side is just more noticeable because she has no one on the show to play the victim to this season), and the vulgar and rude and crude side of her is the most prevalent and mean girl and backstabbing her friend who helped her popularity, Lisa. If you read all the commenets on the Bravo blogs, the comments to Brandy’s blogs from fans all state they used to love her and she has changed this season, on and on.
But what has hurt her the most were her blogs and interviews attacking everyone and putting the blame on everyone but herself, playing the vicitim when she’s clearly at fault many times. Even having herself and her family give the finger in photos to fans who are criticizing her and writing a blog telling them all to shut the F up and to f’ck off except the ones who grovel at her feet and accept anything she does.

  28. Pnichols says:

girl is a straight up s*** show. go away already.

  29. Anon says:

You can no longer be denied coverage by insurance companies for having pre-existing conditions. One would think she would be putting her money towards her health issues instead of botox and other um, things she’s done.
At some point, everyone has to fix themselves and quit blaming others for years. I hope she put a little money away to learn another career because she’s about rode this one (cough) to the ground.

    • Relli says:

A great deal of this comes down to the argument is she dumb or willfully stupid?

Because I have a lot of acquaintances who by most standards are well educated and intelligent but there are some things I cannot believe they do not understand. On paper I am super average. Recently my niece was laughing at how dumb someone was for their ACT score and I had to stop her and say, that was my score too and I am not dumb. But I also go out of my way to educate myself and understand issues that I don’t get at first blush. But not everyone has that drive and some women who are really smart will feign ignorance in order to be kept and prefer it that way (I personally dont understand this but I have a friend, sigh, trust if I had her test scores I would have done more).

The statement about her hand could have been stated better and been an appeal to look at universal health care could have benefited her in that situation. Its no secret that the Reality stars are not qualified for SAG benefits and neither are the writers. Tina Fey had a great write up about that in her book and sweet Cheeses who could forget about fall 2008 when all we could watch were reality shows because the rest of Hollywood was on strike.

At this point its time for B to decide what she really wants. Does she want to stay on and play ball or get off the merry-go-round.

    • claire says:

She already had one large uninsured hospital bill. Maybe she just wanted to delay going to the hospital again because she wasn’t insured and wanted time to think about the options, so it annoyed her that Lisa was pressing her. Maybe she didn’t want to say that on camera. I don’t see the big deal.

      • Jayna says:

She didn’t have to go to the hospital. It’s a splint on her hand. Go to her doctor or CentraCare/Urgent Care facility, get an x-ray and put the splint on. Now she says her hand is a little deformed because she waited a week or whatever it was. She went anyway and paid out of pocket.

      • betty says:

Exactly. Medical care is expensive especially if you already have an outstanding bill.Walking into an ER is costly, When the doctor says hi and order tests. you might wind up with a $800-900 or more bill.If you have to be transported by ambulance tack $1000 to that bill, So I don’t blame her. She knows she has to get coverage it is required by law now. But you have to shop around.

  30. ojulia123 says:

What is it with this woman and her racist comments?!

  31. No one you know says:

It costs less than a standard Botox treatment to walk in to an Urgent Care and get your hand looked at.

  32. Ag says:

She doesn’t have insurance because of a pre-existing condition, huh? Open a newspaper, Brandi. Or turn the news on. The Affordable Healthcare Act will fix your problem. (But then what would you cry to tabloids about, right?)

    • claire says:

The show was filmed months ago, though. That wasn’t in place then, was it?

      • Jayna says:

I’ve always gotten insurance with a pre-existing, as have my co-workers. We are all self-employed. Brandi had a very successful best-selling book and was making 175,000 that season, and it happened later in the season. She has all of her paid appearances, etc. She had the money to go.

      • Ag says:

@Claire – the article says that she complained about not having insurance “in a recent blog post.” I don’t read her blog, so I’m not sure how “recent” her post was.

  33. loveher says:

I LOVE HER. I love her because what you see is what you get. She is Ghetto Fabulou!!! Bunch of pearl clutchers. Pfft.

  34. kellyinseattle says:

Well, thanks to their idiocy, they’re both rich now.. and alll because of Meann.

  35. Lisa says:

If she had to live in a real ghetto, she wouldn’t last a second.

  36. Steff says:

Ummmm am I the only one who caught that every last one if these interview “quotes” is verbatim from her book? You can fault her for someone publishing “quotes” from her year old book out of context.

  37. FLORC says:

    Little off base here.
Hasn’t it been admitted the show pays for her personal upkeep? All the women go away for a week or 2 prefilming and get touched up at the shows expense. So, she doesn’t have the money for that. It’s about the same as Miss USA/America pays for any enhancements the girls want to get an edge in the competition.

And I do not see how Brandi is promoting the message of not paying attention to marriage finances. If anything it sounds like she was ignorant at the time and is thankful the show came along. Otherwise she would be in a bad spot. It’s more a story of caution to pay attention to your money and don’t assume there will always be more. But if you have a built in bias I can see how you read it in a negative fashion.

But hey. It’s a glass half full kind of day for me.

    • LilyT says:

Her glass is always half full too.

      Of vodka.

    • LAK says:

I was going to post the same thing about how Bravo covers expenses for grooming, not to mention the deals they make to borrow clothing and jewellery.

It’s no secret that all these housewives present a facade of wealth which isn’t true.

The only truly rich people on BH are Lisa and Yolanda.

Reality TV is the biggest con ever, but it’s amazing how people believe it’s real.

      • Luca26 says:

Yeah but she also gets a hefty salary on top of that plus a best selling book , and shooting or not she always looks toxed to the gills so she does pay for some of it. A hand X-Ray and bone set wouldn’t cost more than a the procedures she’s done or even more than the total tab of a night out getting wasted with her ‘gays’ at a high end club.

    • anon33 says:

Then she should have EVEN MORE MONEY for insurance, right? Not less?

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

…the show paid for her plastic surgery too though? I can believe they pay for makeup, wardrobe and hair extensions but the hand lasering and injections? Eh….

Besides the fact that she’s still worth a million dollars.

      A MILLION DOLLARS.

True that maybe she’s “poor” compared to the people who run in the same circles as her, but she’s not starving.

Keep in mind that the $175K annual salary is *just* what she makes from her reality TV show. She has other sources of income like endorsement deals, book residuals, etc.

When so many people in this country are hurting right now, I find it arrogant and insensitive for her to peddle the idea that she can hardly get by on $175K. It’s insulting to people who really ARE striving to make ends meet.

      http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/models/brandi-glanville-net-worth/

      • claire says:

Those net worth sites are useless. How in the world would she be worth $1 million dollars?! From what?

      • LAK says:

I can’t speak for Brandi’s specific situation, but I do know that you can get plastic surgery vouchers, holidays to incredible places, cars, jewellery etc and other insane swag in the gift bags of parties (especially award shows) in Los Angeles. And we all Know Brandi attended the grand daddy of award shows – the Oscars. The swag around that is insane. From the official legit people and from the people who piggy back onto it. The official swag bag is so hefty IRS keep threatening to tax it!!! We are talking 6figures worth of gifts.

You should see the actors rushing about in the gift suits during award season. It’s insane when you know how rich these people are.

The point of my ramble is that yes, it is possible that Brandi gets this stuff for free outside of the stuff Bravo pays for. Her high media profile coupled with being paid to promote a lifestyle on TV practically guarantees it.

As for crying poverty, compared to the other HWs on BH, the truly rich and the pretend rich, she isn’t rich. I see it as altered perspective. On one episode last season, one HW used the fact that Brandi was carrying a borrowed chanel bag as some sort of moral failing.

Who knows if the other HW was/is truly rich. They all pretend. There is a HW who took to actual fraud to keep up with the facade. Luckily (if we are to look at it from that perspective) her husband died, and she could hide behind the facade of ‘it was all him coz I never looked at our finances’ to escape the worst charges and irate creditors….though they couldn’t resist playing it as poor downtrodden HW who has to give up her jewels (hello! you defrauded people!!! It was so ridiculous) when it was all dead hubby’s fault. And it was discovered that the birkins she carried everywhere were fakes!!

Part of why I like Brandi on the show is that she has never pretended to be rich. The money she’s receiving is from this season only. First season she received $18K. Seasons are contracted for one year ONLY. That’s part of the reason for the enhanced drama. The more drama a person brings, the greater their chances of being renewed the following year, and they receive a raise. So that $175K she’s receiving maybe going into a savings account because there is no guarantee that she’ll be back next year. Her endorsements also probably rely on her continuing to be part of RHOBH.

With regards her book residuals, I don’t know that she received a book advance, but my book editor friends tell me that authors don’t always make as much money as you think they do. I have no way of evaluating that statement. What I do know is that most of this stuff is cloak and mirrors, none of it real including the characters they all play.

As an example, some of ‘The Hills’ people are starting to let the cat out of the bag including how fights were staged (producers wouldn’t let them leave until they’d had a fight!!), relationships faked (Kristen having to pretend a relationship with 2 cast members), the producers fanning flames of real life for drama where there is none.

      • Jayna says:

She has said her paid appearances, etc, her side deals bring in a lot of money. She is making much more than 175K . It’s surprising what some of these reality stars make for these appearances for clubs and red carpets, etc. She makes money off of that Australian mag she writes a blog for and is always doing a photo shoot for. She sells stories to OK and People and Life & Style and US and oher magazines making money. She had that stripper class deal in Las Vegas she pocketd money for. Then add in her best-selling book. She has bragged about making good money off of that. She gets child support. She tweets about certain places like a restaurant or products and gets money. The girl could afford a doctor’s visit, x-ray and splint out of pocket. Spare me. She could afford an assistant, couldn’t she? LOL

  38. Snowpea says:

Huh? The most interesting thing about this is her dad was a dealer and her mum didn’t wear knickers! I love this! Can we please have an article on Ma and Pa Glanville? 😉

Also, I know I bang on about this alot, but it never fails to blow my mind the American healthcare system. I watched ‘Sicko’ and almost fell off my chair. Here in Australia, we have a Medicare card and low income earners get free everything. You never pay for doctors, hospital visits and prescription drugs are all subsidised so you only pay five bucks for every script.

It’s what progressive societies do. I cannot believe you Yankees accept such a shambolic system!

    • Carolyn says:

I’m Australian too and totally agree. The Australian Medicare system is great. US citizens all your governments so far have totally shafted their responsibility of healthcare…you’re being taken for a ride. Trillions and gazillions of dollars on limitless Defence spending yet not a decent healthcare system.

New to RHOBH I can’t help but think these people are simply given their characters at the start of each season and told to be controversial & bitchy or they’re out. The only ones I like are Lisa & Yolanda…the others are just wannabees and their open envy at Yolanda’s house in a recent episode was laughable.

Bravo’s worst nightmare is no-one discussing their shows at length on social media & gossip/celebrity sites.

    • VavolineJ says:

yes, our healthcare system stinks but Brandi needs to stop whining about Eddie long enough learn that with the Affordable Healthcare Act it is now illegal to be turned down for insurance because of a pre-existing condition.
Oh, she but has plenty to spend on fillers, botox and all that other crap that is making her look so hideous. What a tool!

  39. BeckyR says:

    Brandi is pathetically tacky.

  40. Whitney says:

What happened with Brandi? She’s become almost as obnoxious and insufferable as Leann and Eddie in the media. I cannot believe how fast she’s lost all those sympathy points she had racked up.

  41. dontbuyit says:

The girl doesn’t help herself. The more she babbles on, the more people turn against her. Her own worst enemy is her own mouth and she refuses to close it. Her woe me stories, don’t make me pity her, it further turns me off her. She complains she’s broke, but the woman has enough money to visit her derm. I guess that’s more important than a silly hand.
I also don’t like how when she is feuding on Twitter she’ll post pictures, imo to make you feel bad for her. like she did when she called out Yolanda on something or other. She ended it with tweet of being over people and included a pic of her son, it was not necessary. She’s no better than Leann when she does that. Strategic and going into pity me I’m a single mom, victim mode. That’s how it looks to me. Her constant spats on twitter do not help. Keep that s___ private. It’s so juvenile and ratchet.

  42. cari says:

On another topic: you know how married people start to resemble each other? Well…Cibrian is getting more and more LESS attractive being married to Leann. How prophetic. He’s getting more trailer park looking like her.

  43. Pippers says:

Wow Eddie looked a lot better on Brandi’s arm than he does now!

  44. Sara says:

That’s not an interview, those are little snippets taken from her first book, except the last question about reality tv which is probably a bit from an old interview.

  45. Jenn says:

I think it’s so ridiculous how people are actually commenting like they know these people in real life. Guess what? You don’t. Watching an hour long reality show does not make you an expert on their lives. Yes they put themselves in the public eye but that does not mean you are familiar with every aspect. You also do not have the right to judge how a person deals with a certain situation just because you’ve been through a similar situation & it was different for you or you dealt with it differently. You have no idea what someone else feels or is going through.
