Emilia Clarke is AskMen’s #1 ‘most desirable’ lady: agree or disagree?

wenn20985439

AskMen.com has released their annual list of the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women In the World”. Guess who ranked #1? Yes, everyone’s favorite Khaleesi, Emilia Clarke. I’m sure the anticipated fourth season of Game of Thrones had nothing to do with the timing of this honor! That being said, Emilia is very hot. She’s gorgeous with her natural hair color (a lush brown) and in her Khaleesi wig (white-blonde), she’s still pretty hot. Plus, she has dragons.

Anyway, you can see the full list (in ascending order) here at AskMen. Some other notable rankings? #99: Miley Cyrus. Also: Beyonce (11), ScarJo (16), Lupita Nyong’o (22), Mila Kunis (26), Taylor Swift (30), Jessica Chastain (32), Sandra Bullock (57), Doutzen Kroes (79), Kim Kardashian (87) and Katy Perry (90).

The top ten (in descending order):

Emilia Clarke
Alison Brie
Emily Ratajkowski
Jennifer Lawrence
Emma Watson
Kate Upton
Kerry Washington
Amy Adams
Margot Robbie
Kate Moss

Yeah… there’s not a lot of diversity on the list, but they did add a couple of women of color here and there. Personally, if I’m just looking for “desirable” and nothing else, I would have to give top ranking to Emily Ratajkowski. That girl is insanely hot and I don’t know if I want to have her boobs or if I want to kiss Emily and touch her boobs. She’s so desirable, she confuses me.

    Desirable ? Yes.
    Most desirable? No.

    • Ice Maiden says:

Exactly. I’m not a man so maybe my opinion is invalid, but I’ve always thought Emilia to be attractive in a ‘girl next door’ way. What I mean is that, if she was working in the same office, or living down the road from me, I’d think she was pretty, but I don’t think I’d look twice at her if I saw her in the street. But I suppose that kind of ‘approachable’ attractiveness can be a plus, for both women and men.

      • Stef Leppard says:

But have you seen GoT? I think it was the Khaleesi who was ranked most desirable, not Emilia Clarke.

Also, Alison Brie? The chick from Mad Men? How did she end up #2? Does her husband edit AskMen or something?

      • Ice Maiden says:

No, it’s Emilia herself who is ranked ‘most desirable’.

I do think these lists are mostly PR-driven though, not a genuine insight into what most men find attractive. So the point that GoT Season 4 is about to start is a good one. I don’t think it’s about ‘most desirable’ so much as it is about ”Who’s got the hardest working PR team right now?”

      • Stef Leppard says:

No, I know, but I’m saying the men had the Khaleesi in mind when they voted for her 😄

      • Nerd Alert says:

Yeah I agree, they were totally thinking of the khaleesi, not brown haired Emilia.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I think a lot of women see “girl next door” as a bad thing. However, I have known so many guys over the years who are REALLY into the girl next door thing. They love the idea of corrupting them. They like a cute smile with a hot body. There is a tease about a “girl next door” type that isn’t there in a woman who comes across as more glamorous or edgy. I think they are attracted to the challenge of a girl next door, because they are confused about what she will or won’t do.

Just my observations, but I don’t know all men everywhere, of course.

    • EarlGreyer says:

I actually agree with this list. It’s one of the more accurate ones I’ve seen.

The majority of young men, or at least the men I know, watch/are obsessed with Game of Thrones. And Khaleesi is HOT. She’s got a natural but bangin’ body (as well as many a nude scene), AND she’s mother of the dragons. When I watch GOT, I kind of want to be her, and I know the male viewers want to be with her.

And Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) has an appeal that can be described as girl next door with a thinly veiled “freak in the sheets” alter ego. I had a conversation with one of my guy friends last year and was surprised to hear him say she was his #1 for exactly this reason.

I’m happy undeserving famewhores (memba’ when Blohan topped one such list?) aren’t topping the list for once. Nicely done, AskMen.

    • Dommy Dearest says:

Can we just take a moment to laugh at Miley being number 99? Like seriously.

  2. Lark says:

I feel like Margot is going to be down-market version of Scarlett J. ….like she’s going to be swinging in as the new blonde bombshell type and knocking out Amber Heard/Teresa Palmer/Blake Lively/maybe even Amanda Seyfried for the top “blonde bombshell” type of roles. I say down-market because even though I think she’s absolutely gorgeous, she can still kind of give off a mall vibe compared to Scarlett imo.

Emila is very pretty, but I have a feeling this is just because the new season of GOT is coming on. I don’t see her beating out the others normally.

    • Grant says:

I think Margot is way hotter than Scarlett (and I think she’s kind of a better actress)…

      • Mouse says:

Margot reminds me so much of the blonde on ‘My Name is Earl’. Forgive me, the name escape me at the moment.

      • V4Real says:

@Mouse Jaime Pressly and yes I concur with that observation as well.

      • Tiffany :) says:

YES, she looks so much like Jamie Pressly! I think Margot is gorgeous, but she does look a lot like JP. She also looks like Emma Stone in some angles, and my friend Becky. 😉

  3. Tapioca says:

I would ask Emily R who did her lip injections and then avoid them like the plague. Haemorrhoids belong on your anus, girl, not your face!

Emilia seems like a good choice – she’s pretty, softly curved, has a plum role in a great show and is perfectly inoffensive.

    • Frida_K says:

      Ha, ha–great observation re: haemorrhoids.

      😀

    • Mrs. Darcy says:

To be fair I’ve seen pics of her much younger and her lips appear the same, I did think the same thing but occasionally women are *shock* naturally gorgeous. 🙂

  4. Original Tessa says:

I had to Google Alison Brie. She’s really basic, pretty shocked she’s #2. Can someone explain her to me because I’m stumped.

    • Lark says:

She’s in Community, and fan boys love her. Honestly though, I love, love Chelsea Peretti but for her to be ranked in the 30s over big time models like Doutzen shows how weird these type of things are….I feel like they they just pick a bunch of random names (x amount of models, x amount of actresses, x amount of singers) for most of it and then really only count the top 20 or so.

      • Shannon1972 says:

I was wondering about that. Like how does Taylor Swift, who I thought frightened most men these days, wind up much higher on the list than Doutzen? Actually, I’m surprised she’s on the list period (though I think she is beautiful).
The rankings make zero sense to me.

      • EarlGreyer says:

        Hi Tessa & Lark-
The list isn’t thaat weird once you realize that it is a product of asking MEN. What men find desirable is much different than what women find desirable. Also, think of AskMen’s demographic: 20-something men that are probably a mix of metrosexual and nerdy. As a law studentl (i.e. surrounded by metro, nerdy 20-something men), I assure you that this list is pretty accurate. First: these men want pretty, approachable women that would be good in bed – not intimidatingly gorgeous women that would make them feel inadequate. Second: the hottest shows in this demographic are Game of Thrones, Community, and Mad Men.

Now, if we were to Ask Women who the most desirable women were, the list would probably be comprised of the likes of Lupita, Doutzen, etc.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Are you old enough to remember Kate Jackson from Charlie’s Angels? I think it’s sort of the same accessible, girl next door thing.

    • jinni says:

Both Brie and Clarke are basic as hell. Like they are so plain, Watson too. Maybe that’s what guys find attractive nowadays because none of those chicks are exceptional looking.

    • Myrto says:

I’m guessing it’s her role in Community? And she has big boobs. I don’t know. She’s pretty but that’s it imo.
I have to say, I’m always stunned at those lists compiled by men (I realize that they only represent a certain demographic of men) because the women in those lists rarely have an interesting personality (save for a few) and are often very bland. I agree about Amy Adams though.

    • Åsa says:

According to my guy friends: boobs. And because she plays ‘naive’ (sp?) very well (in Community)

  5. Anna says:

This top 10 seems kind of random to me LOL I agree about Emily though, I think she’s so hot

    • Tazina says:

Emilia is lovely and hot. But I had to laugh at some of the other picks. Emma Watson? There’s nothing sexy about her. Kate Moss? Amy Adams? Yikes, someone’s picker is off.

  6. AG-UK says:

umm she is pretty but I don’t get it and sorry Game of Thrones fans, she is the weakest link on that show.

    • JWQ says:

Agreed. She is better looking than the average girl, but she’ s not the hottest thing ever, and she is the worst actor in GOT: she’ s not terrible, but everyone else is better. Her character is also the most boring: last season she did literally nothing, if it weren’ t for the fact that she has dragons, her storyline would be a complete waste of time and she doesn’ t have the presence and the charisma to be convincing in the role of a war general able to lead thousands of people! I liked her in the first book/season, but mostly because I was a huge fan of that bastard of her brother, and watching him interacting with her was a huge entertainment!

Of the other women, I either don’ t know them, or I find them painfully forgettable. They are all beautiful, but incredibly ordinary. Oh, well, maybe I just have difficult tastes!

      • Shannon1972 says:

Sorry to say, but I totally agree with this assessment. Though she is trying mightily, she simply is not pulling off the powerful incarnation of Khaleesi at all. She was much better in the first season. It’s GoT, so I’m perfectly ready to suspend reality, and it will be interesting to see how she handles the citizen uprisings this season. I fear she will get swallowed up by her role, but I’m rooting for her.

      • JWQ says:

@Shannon1972, I am rooting for her, too. I don’ t want to sound like I am bashing her, because I kind of like her, she doesn’ t give me vibes of being a douchebag at all, and that is a huge thing for me, considering the kind of young actors that work today. I just think that she’ s a mediocre actor (and that is not something that you can change overnight) and that her character is incredibly pointless (which is not her fault but Martin’ s and the writers’ s of the show).

      • V4Real says:

I don’t think Emilia is better looking than the average woman, I think she’s just average. Now Emily R. is hot and beautiful. Margot Robbie looks like a younger version of Sharon Stone when she was around 30. Not that I put much faith in these lists but what men are they really asking?

      • JWQ says:

@V4Real, It’ s just that I consider myself average and I have no problem saying that she is better looking than me. The only thing people notice about me is that I am tall and have red hair. She has beautiful hair and eyes, a pretty smile, has a nice, womanly shape of body and is feminine. If we walked together on the street, men would notice her, not me.

      • iskra says:

I agree…im a fan of the show and many of us think that together with Kit, she is really one of the biggest miscasts on the show. Girl simply can´t act. To me she is ordinary, nothing special, I wouldn´t look at her twice on the street. And in interviews she seems pretty bland and boring.

      • Ice Maiden says:

Interesting. I am playing catch-up with GoT – I was abroad until fairly recently so didn’t see any of it, but got a download of the first 3 seasons and am now watching them. I’m still only on Season One, but have to agree that Emilia is nothing special. She’s not terrible, but she doesn’t exactly blow your socks off with her superb acting. It seems Tamzim Merchant, who played Catherine Howard in ”The Tudors’ was originally cast as Khaleesi, but was then replaced by Emilia. I wonder why? Either way, I am looking forward to seeing the wonderful Natalie Dormer in Season Two.

      • JWQ says:

@iskra, Harington is the second worst actor of the bunch. His only saving grace is that his character is more interesting than Daenerys (to me, at least), but yes, he is so bland that he’ s making it incredibly difficult to watch him and feel something for what happens to Jon Snow. I don’ t think they cannot act, I just think that given the amazing cast of the show, where everyone is, at his or her worst, a solid 7.5/10, they stick out badly! They are monotone in every scene, they don’ t have ups and downs, they are constantly at 5.5 or 6, and given the story, I would prefer someone able to hold his or her own in a particularly important or magnificent scene. I always have the chills when I watch a movie/tv show when a general gives a speech to his or her soldiers, but I felt nothing when she did to the slaves. As for harington, his relationships with Ygritte and Sam feel awkward and impersonal! They are the kind of actors that you hire to play love interests, not heroes or villains because they lack presence and the will or ability to give a little glimpse of… anything. Jon Snow is supposed to sulk, but so is Sansa, and the actress who is playing her is doing a way better job than Harington!

    • Mom2two says:

I agree, acting talent wise, her and Kit Harington are the weakest links. Emilia is pretty and I could see her being top 10 but not #1.

    • Dommy Dearest says:

Pffft. She’s weakest cause she hasn’t had much storyline other than saving pawns and moving towards her natural kingdom. I’m hoping season 4 we see her do some major damage. I watched the trailer and it was incredibly boring until the dragons made an appearance. But I’m biased hahahaha

  7. cro-girl says:

Emilia’s stunning. So is Emily but she’s kind of… well… dirty. Kerry Washington is such a babe. Kate Moss…. wtf?!?!?!

  8. Bex says:

I think Emelia has flawless skin. She’s pretty gorgeous. I also think she’s dated some guys that weren’t in her league so maybe guys think they have a chance with her.

  9. David99 says:

    Emily Ratajkowski- yes please!

  10. Mrs. Darcy says:

It’s not surprising to me, she’s in the most popular show on earth, where she got naked in the first season and her character acts like a bossy wench all the time while wearing very little, geek boys in partic. must love her. I do think she’s as pretty as anyone else on the list (the ones I’ve heard of anyway), except for maybe Kerry. Kerry is annoyingly perfect. Love her maternity style. It is totally random as a list though I get the diversity complaint.

  11. ACD says:

You know, for me, as part of their target audience, AskMen’s top 99 has always been (or supposed to be) as much about women who are gorgeous as they are interesting, thus, talented actresses should rank higher than V&S models, great singers above “fit but underachieving athlete”. So when I see that a majority of “other guys thought” that Jessica Chastain or Cate Blanchett or Amy Poehler should be ranked LOWER than, say, the “greatest ass on instagram”, I’m just compelled to say FUCK YOU FELLOW MEN, FUCK YOU AND YOUR SHITTY, PUBESCENT-WORTHY TASTE.

    • JWQ says:

To be fair, as a woman, I have the same reaction when people like Channing Tatum, Chris Hemsworth, Joe Manganiello and Bradley Cooper are voted most desiderable man of the year. I try not to bash men because some of them prefer asses over personality and talents specifically because some of us are the same about biceps and six-packs!

    • Original N says:

It is really nice to read your perspective on here! I don’t think there are many men that post and I, personally, love to hear a man’s point of view on questions such as this one that the CB author posed….because I don’t agree with the women who made top ten on the list, but then, I am female so I am left wondering if that influences my perspective.

    • Mark says:

      @ACD
I’m pretty sure women like Ryan Gosling for his personality aswell(!) Guys like Mark Zuckerberg, Steven Hawking and Bill Gates don’t get put on the sexiest men lists, so you can’t make out that only men are shallow. You can’t really complain about the lack of diversity if you also look on the womens list the only non-whites you see are Idris Elba and Denzel Washington

Plus it’s a subjective list so chill out brother and these lists are always picked by women anyway even though it’s called askmen

  12. sapphoandgrits says:

For those of us whose ‘thing’ is a ‘girl-next-door’ type, Emilia is quite… toothsome. So, i get what the guys are saying.

  13. Aria says:

Disagree. Not my cup of tea.

  14. raindrop says:

Emilia Clarke photographs very well, but she is *stunning* on camera – it’s not just her looks, it’s how she carries herself. I can totally understand the appeal.

  15. FingerBinger says:

This list seems like a goof. I’m scratching my head at some of the women on this list. This seems like a list a bunch of guys at a nerd convention came up with.

  16. Amanduh says:

Where the eff is Candice Swanepoel?! These lists are hilarious and far too subjective…and kinda mean. I was going to list why I didn’t think some people should be on the list, but that would be kinda sh!tty of me.

  17. jessica says:

Emilia Clarke has Julia Roberts mouth and teeth

  18. pleaseicu says:

I don’t think Emelia, as lovely as she is, is even the most desirable out of the GOT cast, let alone the planet. To each their own though. I could see how her character Khaleesi could potentially be the most desirable to men though because she’s got dragons, she’s got an army she personally leads, she speaks sexy made-up languages believably, she strips down at least once a season, every man who meets her wants to kill themselves for her, she’s been written to never make a misstep and always act for benevolent reasons (which is hugely problematic for her story going forward if they don’t course correct this season but that’s neither here nor there).

Alison Brie I can kinda see being top 10, though not number 2, because Community’s back and the season has largely been focused around her character, she’s approachable girl-next-door pretty, she loves to vamp it up in photoshoots and talk about her boobs and bodily functions and isn’t afraid to make a total ass of herself for a laugh.

  19. Ellen says:

Margot Robbie is such a smoke show to me. Would definitely be gay for her LOL. Should be #1!

  20. Jane says:

Why would anyone men, tho? Their taste sucks, lol.

  21. Lucy says:

I disagree about Emily R., but only because she makes me feel extremely envious and self-conscious (not an excuse at all, I know). The fact that she has worked with the Thickehead doesn’t help much, either.

  22. idontknowyouyoudontknowme says:

This really is the most random list ever… I expected Emily or Kate to be number 1 again because they seem like typical choices. While I’m happy Miley only barely made the cut, I really dont think Kate Moss for example is top 10 material anymore, or that Taylor Swift is hotter than Doutzen Kroes, or Katy Perry… I know these lists are mainly PR hype, and on askmen.com women or even children for that matter can vote, but still its a bit baffling to me 🙂

  23. vv says:

Lil Annie Edison is #2 yey haha I love Community.

  24. GeeMoney says:

Emilia is really beautiful, so I can see why she would be number 1. I know that others here think that she’s not that pretty, but I wholeheartedly disagree. She’s borderline gorgeous.

She’s not the best actress in the world, but I love Game of Thrones, and I love Daenerys Targaryen. Khaleesi forever!

  25. se says:

once again women are reduced to commodities and judged and valued based on looks. well done.

  26. idk says:

Do they give these men a list of 100 women and ask them to rank them or do they simply just ask men who they think is “desirable” and then compile the list? I have a feeling they give the guys the names and pics of women, and the men simply rank them. Otherwise, I believe there would be a lot more diversity…not only with ethnicity but also with shapes, sizes, and age. Not all men are a like.

Anyways, these lists are ridiculous. Oh and how does Kanye feel about Kim being that low on the list? Aren’t we supposed to believe she’s the most beautiful, most desirable, most wanted woman OF ALL TIME?

  27. janet says:

I just don’t get men. Most desirable?!! Not. Sorry Emilia.

  28. Tswise says:

It wasn’t men who made this list, I guarantee that.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Emilia Clarke could very well be #1 on a list that men create, but this list in particular was crafted by (or voted on by) women.

  29. Seán says:

I’m sorry I got around to this story late because I would like to have a discussion about this list. I think it’s interesting how men and women have a very different view of what’s sexy. Who would you ladies put down as your Top 10?

Because I have to say, I largely agree with this list barring two-ish exceptions. Kate Moss, I have never found attractive, and Emily Ratajkowski, I thought looked very hot in the “Blurred Lines” video but I don’t find hugely attractive in other videos I’ve seen (she has a banging body and if I was only so lucky, I would definitely have sex with her. I’m not a fan of her weirdly shaped lips though…although I generally like big lips). I have to disagree with the proclamations that these women are “plain”. Far from it…I’m sorry! They are all very beautiful women with great bodies and pretty faces. I personally gravitate towards women with soft faces, big eyes, small, thin noses and a nice smile but that doesn’t mean it’s my be all and end all. I can understand that we may be conditioned in society to gravitate towards certain ideas of masculine and feminine. For example, from what I’ve seen on this site, many of you gravitate towards men who have a very sexual, bad-boyish vibe (obviously that doesn’t include everyone and you do always call out the bad boy types who are absolute douches). I think as men, many of us tend to gravitate towards cuter, feminine looking girls instead of girls who might give off an aggressively sexual vibe or might be a bit more androgynous looking. And while I do think that we can be more superficial in terms of sexual attraction, we, just like women, are very much attracted by personality. And most of the women on this list have personality in spades which is why I think they’re so popular. They might be “blandly” beautiful but they are beautiful nonetheless. Alison Brie and Jennifer Lawrence wouldn’t make my most desirable list if I just seen still images of them but it’s their personalities that make them much more attractive.

Emily Ratajkowski and Kate Upton, I’ll give you, I don’t know much about their personalities and they are probably primarily chosen for their looks. But they are two beautiful women with pretty faces and great bodies (Ratajkowski’s weirdly shaped lips just aren’t my thing though). Emma Watson, Amy Adams and Kerry Washington might not be the most charismatic people in the room and might be considered bland but all of them strike me as intelligent, good-hearted women that would be good to have around as a friend from interviews I’ve watched. And there is an element of goofiness to all three of them too. And that’s what I look for in a girlfriend, someone I can obviously love and be physically affectionate with but also can be good friends with and goof around with. And when we talk goofing around…look no further than Jennifer Lawrence and Alison Brie. Both women are very charismatic. Jennifer Lawrence is just very to-the-point and just seems to have a personality. Alison Brie is the very same and has a very charming, flirty way with anyone who interviews her. She’s also a gifted actress (as both Annie on Community and Trudy on Mad Men). Plus I love a woman who doesn’t take Pete Campbell’s shit! There’s an element of superficiality with Emilia Clarke and Margot Robbie considering we’ve seen them naked but they have personality too. Robbie’s only starting out but has given a handful of fun interviews while Clarke also strikes me as sweet, intelligent, enthusiastic and is proud of a series with a load of male fanboys. And I know many people criticise her acting ability (I disagree by the way, I felt she has been strong barring Season 2 where she was constantly whining about her dragons. But Season 1 and 3, she’s been solid. One of the weakest actors yes…but she has tough competition because everyone is so bloody good in GoT), but she can definitely convey both a youthful innocence as Daenerys as well as a sexy, fiery badassness! And while those characteristics may be associated with Dany, they come from Emilia.

Basically, I don’t really understand the criticisms. A large amount of women on this list are not just women made to sit there and look pretty without offering any opinions. Most of them ARE pretty but are also very popular because they’ve shown depth, intelligence and fun personalities. Isn’t that important? Many men don’t just want a vapid submissive sex slave who let us do whatever we want and whose “innocence we can destroy”. We want women who are, yes, physically attractive but who also have personality and opinions and depth.

(And I know I haven’t articulated my points the best way but I did want to submit my thoughts on this subject. Feel free to argue back with me and hopefully I can respond to individual things I’ve said more clearly).

    • fleur says:

I liked your post. I just don’t get why men would like someone who talks about bodily functions though. Your post contradicts itself. You say men like soft looking women (not bland looking, soft) and they like smart girls with an opinion etc but then you say men like women who would talk about the things that come out of her body and it’s just confusing.

  30. Alyce says:

I totally get Emilia Clarke, she’s gorgeous! That 1st scene in the first season – her hips and ass are perfection!

  31. Ree says:

    hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  32. Chiara says:

Mom Robin Wright and daughter Dylan Penn both in the list: imagine the conversation at Wright’s dinner table.
Dylan: Hi mom! you’re behind me on the most desirable women ask men list, ha!
    Robin: Yeah but I’m f-ckin 47 y.o. and have a 33 y.o. fiance, take that b-tch!

    • lullaby-night says:

      LOL
That’s amazing…Dylan must thank god everyday of her life that Buttercup’s genes defeated Penn’s genes…

    • bored-nurse says:

OMG! Is it the first time a mother-daughter duo made it to the list? Robin Wright is terrifyingly sexy as Claire-motherf-cker-Underwood…she WRECKS…can’t wait for season 2 HoC

  33. Norman says:

I like Emilia Clarke, she is beautiful, she is curvy and she has lovely eyes. Little is known about her out side of “Game of Thrones” but she is beautiful.

I like most of the people on the list though plenty are unknown to me and some I don’t like. I was happy that Amy Adams scored high on the list, at least with the AskMen community you don’t have to a teen of in your early twenties too be considered attractive.

I think the people who should have been included on the list in lieu of some others include Leighton Meester, Dianna Agron, Rachel Bilson, Emmy Rossum, Rachel McAdams, Camilla Belle, Anna Kendrick, Nina Dobrev, Brittany Snow, Jessica Alba, Jessica Lowndes, Jessica Biel, Troian Bellisario, Diane Kruger, Naya Rivera, Minka Kelly, Kate Bosworth and Lauren Conrad among others.
