Shia LaBeouf cries his eyes out & invites whipping in ‘baghead’ art exhibit

Shia LaBeouf

At this point, I’m not surprised at anything Shia LaBeouf does. Now he’s claiming that his entire douche act is some amazing meta-modernist performance art, but he doesn’t realize that James Franco has already cornered the market. Except that Franco, while annoying, at least comes up with original ideas for his “art” instead of plagiarizing everyone in existence. Shia even plagiarizes his apologies for plagiarism. Then he continues to do so while saying we’re all too dumb to understand his lofty message.

Shia’s latest stunt involved going “baghead” in Berlin to promote N*ymphomaniac. At the time, I briefly mentioned how Shia wanted to turn “baghead” into an art exhibit where people could use and abuse him in a number of humiliating ways. Shia’s been hinting at such an exhibit for weeks, and Popbytes accurately called the proposal a plagiarism of a 1974 exhibit by Marina Abramovic. Well the exhibit is happening now in Los Angeles, and Time magazine confirms Shia’s latest plagiarism of Abramovic’s prior work.

This is what’s happening: For his #IAMSORRY exhibit, Shia’s sitting in an art gallery for seven hours per day, five days per week. He’s sitting there with that stupid bag on his head and a bunch of implements — a whip, a pair of pliers, a Transformers toy, Hershey’s kisses (and more) — in front of him on a table. He even added a copy of a graphic novel by Daniel Clowes (whom Shia plagiarized for his short film). Buzzfeed has a photo of all the accessories. The Daily Beast has a picture of (a bagless) Shia at his table. TMZ has also sent a reporter to the scene, who says Shia is crying his eyes out during the exhibit.

This isn’t funny anymore, right? I mean, it IS funny. But it’s also cringeworthy. I don’t know if Shia is on drugs, falling into mental illness, or simply acting like a total a-hole. Page Six says Shia wanted to wear a wang cam during his N*mphy sex scenes, so I’m swayed to pick “a-hole” as the main cause of Shia’s behavior.

I just can’t see how Brad Pitt didnt beat the crap outta this dude, having to be around him every freakin day.. This is such high school attention seeking behavior. Lame.

    • Andrea1 says:

Hahaha So funny! I just can’t wait to see what would happen between Shia and the rest of Fury cast when its time to promote the movie… I hope he doesn’t pull this shit he is doing now.
On another note doesn’t shia have people like PR people and all that? Why can’t they talk sense to him. I don’t want to go for the mental illness angle but….

    • Wiffie says:

I used to think James Franco was obnoxious and pretentious. Shia makes Franco look like a shallow meathead frat boy douchecanoe.

eye rolls SO HARD with this kid. And i’m an artist.

  2. GeeMoney says:

Shia, please… go to rehab already.

  3. Dorothy#1 says:

If he’s wearing a bag over his head the whole time how can we be sure it’s him?? 😉

  4. mojoman says:

Joaquin Phoenix 2.0 wannabe. Sorry he isn’t delivering a meta performance art, he is just pure D-bag (like the one on his head)

  5. RobN says:

I’m starting to think mental illness more than funny. He’s reached “uncomfortable to watch” stage.

    • Bridget says:

Honestly, I don’t think so. I think he got caught doing something really stupid (plagiarism) and is more concerned with trying to salvage his own pride. If you look at what he’s doing, he’s attempting to take control of the whole narrative, as though to play it off like he’s always known what he was doing, and that he’s still smarter than the rest of us. I think he’s just a total and complete douche who doesn’t know when to stop.

The drugs probably don’t help, though.

      • gefeylich says:

Spot on comment. You’ve said exactly what I think. Tom & Lorenzo call this the “Chernobyl meltdown,” but unlike girls like Amanda Bynes who implode, clueless male douches such as LeBeef beat their chests and demand attention when they detonate, sending crap everywhere.

      • Ashling says:

        Totally agree.

    • bluhare says:

      Me too.

  6. JojoAnn says:

I hesitate to go too hard on some of these guys. It does seem to me like hecould be suffering from undiagnosed disorder. This right here is some serious spiralling, particularlu that crying part. So I’m staying out of this one.

    • Tulip Garden says:

The crying part raises alarm bells to me. It doesn’t go with the image he attempts to project, the fighting and all that. I am beginning to believe he is just very ill.

      • jaye says:

Yes. This doesn’t seem like douche behavior. This is a man who is quickly spiraling out of control. I don’t know if it’s mental illness or substance abuse, but I worry that the next story we read about him will be that he killed himself. I don’t wish it on him, but the people who love him should be staying close and reaching out to help him.

    • Samtha says:

I agree with this. After seeing what happened with Amanda Bynes, and then seeing what substance abuse issues can do (Philip Seymour Hoffman), I can’t do anything but feel sorry for this guy and hope there are people around him who can convince him to get help.

    • Caz says:

Yes. Please can one of his family get him diagnosed and give him the care he seems to need. I can’t be nasty… His behaviour is really sad.

  7. dizzylucy says:

I’m still leaning towards a-hole over mentally ill, but who knows. Maybe it’s a ton of drugs. Whatever the case, he needs to stop, go away, and be quiet for a while.

    • katy says:

I agree, but I will add drugs with the a – hole part.

I like how he thinks we’re too stupid to understand what he’s trying to say. I think he’s trying to say nothing is original anymore, anything you do is a copy of something already created.

      • gefeylich says:

“I think he’s trying to say nothing is original anymore, anything you do is a copy of something already created”

That is giving him far too much credit. This guy doesn’t have the intelligence or insight for that – at this point he’s just backpedaling to make himself look “smart.”

But if someone from his team reads your explanation, I’m sure they’ll thank you for the idea.

  8. Tulip Garden says:

He could have serious mental issues and/or drug problems and/or be a douche, none of it is mutually exclusive. From what he has said and what I’ve read about his childhood, I would be surprised if that hasn’t had some negative affect on him. That said, his behavior his bizarre. He either needs mental help or if he is mentally sound (which I doubt) a serious talking to by someone that will straight up tell him how pathetic his behavior is.

  9. Lark says:

Someone phrased it on Gawker quite well, something like be it hard drugs, mental illness, or just plain old entitlement someone out there, even if it’s for pragmatic business reasons, needs to step the hell in and try and help Shia. This is out of control. I thought about going (a friend of a friend of a friend type of thing is involved) but it just seems sad. If he’s “delicate” about the internet vitriol, I don’t understand how he (or someone) doesn’t realize that in real life (as much as we all love chatting on Celebitchy ;)) that celeb gossip (no matter how vicious) is only ingested by a relatively small portion of the population. However this…..these antics are making it into the hard news websites and print, like The L.A. Times. The dumb thing is that he’s “raising” awareness of his past mistakes to a large segment of people who probably never heard of them or if they heard of it they forgot about it two minutes later. He needs to leave L.A. for several months and reset.

    • Tulip Garden says:

      Very well put. I agree.

    • mytbean says:

Right now it seems that Shia is functioning in a very isolated world of his own making… like he’s been burned and rejected by not just fans and Hollywood but people above that. I know it’s tough to trust anyone in an environment of opportunists and superficiality but doesn’t he have some home-grown, long-standing chums to fall back on when life gets this surreal for him? Or has he decided that even those people aren’t to be trusted anymore?

He needs someone that he respects and trusts – outside of his own head. I really hope we’re not about to see another suicidal overdose.

  10. break says:

I doubt he’s mentally ill beyond the “young actor as extreme narcissist” condition. He got called out for being a fraud and has turned it into months of “look at me”.
The fake break down worked for Joaquin Pheonix because he’s an incredibly talented actor in whom film fans were invested. Also, aside from a Letterman appearance and a couple of rap shows, he pretty much left the public out of his shenanigans (no skywriting!). Also, I thought “I’m still here” was pretty interesting.
Shia’s crap is just boring. I wish everyone would just ignore him.

    • starrywonder says:

Yep. The only thing he is suffering from is Aholism and being a freaking Narcissist. He plagarized someone else’s work that is NEVER okay. In college, grad school, etc. you have to source where you got ideas, statements, quotes. I think him growing up a child actor who then got thrown into superstar fame due to the Transformers has made him an overbearing child. I love Lainey at LaineyGossip since she flat out said just apologize. LOL

  11. Dani says:

Yikes. I actually sort of feel bad for the kid. I think he’s bordering mental illness of some sort, though. Is there no one around to help him?

  12. AnnieCL says:

He looks ill, I’d say he’s on drugs & is also not that smart.

  13. Side-Eye says:

I’m starting to think something is mentally wrong with him.

  14. TG says:

Mental illness or not it doesn’t change the fact that he is a THIEF. He can deflect all he wants but everybody knows him as a plagiarizing thief. Thief thief thief.

  15. FingerBinger says:

I don’t think this is mental illness or drugs. I think this some “method actor” stuff. I think he’s getting into a character or he’s still in a character he can’t quite get out of. Or he’s trying to deflect from that plagiarism business.

  16. Deedee says:

If it is a hoax to deflect the fact that he plagerized another’s work as some have speculated, it’s not making things better, but rather worse. I think most people would agree. I’ m surprised Pitt would even take him on given how strange he acted before this travesty, his ETOH use, and anger issues, not to mention his bashing of previous directors and actors with whom he worked. IMO, he may be having a nervous breakdown or is suffering from some mental defect/issue. Its a shame, because he really had potential. He was great in Holes and He was believable in Disturbia. While Indiana Jones wasn’t that great, he should never have trashed it like he did after the fact. He was lucky to get the Transformer franchise; he went from a six to a seven number payday.

  17. MSat says:

What a weirdo. If you don’t want to be famous, then leave Hollywood. Learn a trade. Sheesh.

  18. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I feel like I’m alone on this, but I would find it hot to spank him (and I don’t otherwise consider him attractive).

  19. judyjudy says:

He’s just a jerk, that’s all. He’s doing this whole routine to make the public look like terrible people when HE is the terrible one.

  20. GIRLFACE says:

I miss James Franco in this niche. He was hotter and a thousand times more tolerable.

  21. LAK says:

    How about all 3?
