I can’t blame Etta James for being kinda of pissed (although she shouldn’t say it in public!!) — The performance of that song on that night with that couple is a bona fide moment of history that will live forever. And it IS Etta’s signature song!
I’ve heard both of them sing it. I’m not that young but I much preferred Byonce singing it. Etta did mean her nasty comments but probably backed down when she heard the President and First Lady were shocked and confused by her comments.
The President and First Lady, if they had true class, would have asked Etta to sing it, not Beyonce. Goes to show.
It’s nice she fake apologized but she should’ve showed more class than to trash another artist like that. Hopefully she learned her lesson. Keep the trap shut.
