Last night’s Grammy Awards went off seemingly without a hitch despite last minute cancellations by Rihanna, Chris Brown and Usher. Opening with a rollicking performance by U2 performing of new single ” “Get On Your Boots.”,” music’s biggest awards show generally kept the entertainment coming but still felt too long at nearly three and a half hours.
Jennifer Hudson won the first award for best R&B album and she touchingly thanked her family in heaven and those here with her. She later gave a heartfelt performance of “You Pulled Me Through” that was met with a standing ovation. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were the main winners of the night with five awards, with Coldplay and Lil Wayne also taking home multiple trophies:
The night’s biggest honor went to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, whose Raising Sand was named album of the year. “I’m bewildered. In the old days we’d call this selling out,” Plant said while accepting the award. “But I think it’s a good way to spend a Sunday.” The duo also won record of the year for their song “Please Read the Letter.”
Eight-time nominee Lil Wayne picked up some high-profile trophies, including best rap album for Tha Carter III. In a pre-telecast ceremony, the rapper also nabbed awards for best rap solo performance for “A Milli” and best rap song for “Lollipop.” Meanwhile, seven-time nominees Coldplay won song of the year for “Viva la Vida,” as well as best rock album and best pop duo/vocal group.
British soul singer Adele Adkins bested the Jonas Brothers in the best new artist category.

M.I.A. looks awful!

Yeah compared to the thousands of migrant workers who died building the railroads in this country, Miley Cyrus is the REAL PROBLEM. Get over it, already.
About friggin time Robert Plant got some Grammy love !!! W00T!
-
Hmmm…at least Coldplay can clutch their grammys while Joe Satriani sues the pants off them for ripping off his song.
And agreed, MIA looks terrible. Her outfit during her performance was worse.
-
Ah, let’s give MIA a break. By that point in MY pregancy, I was wearing nothing but pyjamas and an old pair of flip-flops. Those last couple of weeks, when you’re as big as a whale, are flat-out dreadful.

chris martin is determined to show us he is a grown up and accomplished man (… If you don’t like it, you didn’t needed to go)
Paris and Kim : so much money, so little fabric (& style) -
Pregnant or not, there is no excuse for MIA’s outfit - that is just nasty. PJ’s and flip flops would have been an improvement.
And why do so many of these ladies have such hideous posture?
-
Oh Dante, don’t you know that they don’t teach that in school?
-
And is anyone else confused by the fact that Kim K was there? Or Paris Hilton for that matter.
I thought the Grammys were about music, not fame-whoring twits.
-
why am I looking at Paris(ite) Hilton at the Grammys? Are my eyes not safe anywhere? why is anyone paying her any attention?
so many questions, so little vodka… -
Is it me or do Paris’s thighs look HUGE?! That dress is hideous.
-
Oh Dante, don’t you know that they don’t teach that in school?
S’truth !
