‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4 premiere photos: winter is coming & all men must die

wenn21194454

Here are some photos from last night’s NYC premiere of Game of Thrones Season 4 – just a few more weeks, and then we get to see it! Pres. Obama has already seen it. I had no idea of how I should organize this, like, should this be a fashion post? Or should it be about hot guys? Should it be about who we would rather? While there are a few hot guys, Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) was not in attendance. Instead, we get Peter Dinklage (nice), The Hound, Alfie Allen (I hate his storyline), King Joffrey (I hope he dies, but I like the actor), Hodor (Kristian Nairn), Charles Dance, Liam Cunningham and Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger). I guess Kit Harington didn’t bother to show up either.

I’m also including some glamour shots of Dame Diana Rigg, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Maisie Williams (Arya), Shae, Sansa, The Khaleesi and Lena Headley. There are some people that I didn’t recognize on sight, so I guess there will be some new characters that we will grow to hate. Oh… no Natalie Dormer? That’s weird. I hope she’s still dealing with Joffrey this season. I think their wedding is supposed to take place soon.

Incidentally, Vanity Fair online published their exclusive interview with George RR Martin (creator of Game of Thrones) a few days ago, and if you want to totally nerd out for a half hour, I suggest you read it – Martin has a plan, you see. And he talks about how the TV show can avoid catching up to the books. It’s a great piece.

And here’s the newest trailer:

I can’t WAIT!! I’ve read the books and so I have a good idea of what’s to come this season and I am so excited. 😀

    • Tatjana says:

Me too. I can’t wait for the wedding.

I find Alfie Allen really cute ( I know, I know I’m probably the only one). For the girls, Rose Leslie looks great, Masie too and Gwendoline, of course. The others, not so much.

      • QQ says:

Not the Only one! alfie and the Onion Knight are looking all types of amazing here

      • Mimif says:

I love Alfie too, he’s such a great actor even if he’s a disgusting character. Little Finger gives me the tingles too and I hate myself for it!

      • ichsi says:

No, you’re not alone. And I can’t decide if I find Jamie Winstone’s shoes terribly tacky or super awesome. x)

Oh man, why are all the guys on this show so hot?! Jamie is #1 of course but Papa Lannister is such a GDILF. Same goes for Ser Davos and Aidan…
Aidan, my true and ancient crush!! If you don’t get it, watch the UK Queer as folk. I know it’s aimed at men but JESUS CHRIST he’s the hottest thing EVER in it!

  2. BW says:

The hound in a kilt! WHOO-HOO!

I love that Joffrey and Sansa posed with their arms around each other. I’ve seen the actor give talks, and he’s such a nice guy with a panty melting Irish accent.

    • Kali says:

Consensus seems to be 100% across the board that he’s a really sweet guy. He’s apparently retiring from acting after GoT 😢

    • Milena says:

I totally squee’d at that photo – they look so adorable together! Funny how life doesn’t imitate art in this case 😉

    • Splinter says:

      My words exactly!
And why is Littlefinger so orange?

  3. Kali says:

Seriously considering putting myself into a coma for the next few weeks until the premiere. So many excellent things to come this season!,

POSSIBLE VAGUE ALLUSIONS TO POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Book readers – I’m a tv series only/extensive wiki reader (please don’t judge too hard). Am really interested to hear whether we might be getting the character this season that has some thing to do with rocks. Or stones.

  4. cro-girl says:

They all look amazing and Brienne… damn girl. Looking beautiful!

    • Kali says:

Seeing Gwendoline Christie looking amazing at events like this kinda brings it home just what a good job they do makeup/hair/costume wise with her in making her look SO different in the show. Gwendoline is lovely in these shots! I hope that she enjoys having a chance to glam up a bit.

  5. epiphany says:

The no-show actors are all filming movies at the moment. Harington and Coster-Waldau actually did some GoT promos in Australia and New Zealand earlier this month.
Emilia Clarke needs to fire her makeup artist. She’s always too heavily made up,

  6. GeeMoney says:

Lena Headey has the worst fashion sense ever.

    Emilia looks beautiful, as always.

  7. TG says:

I am so excited too! I had never heard of the series and then last year we got HBO for free as a promo and I kept seeing the previews for season 3 and figured it was a show my husband would actually enjoy as well. I was right. We binge watched season 1 & 2 on Friday and Saturday just in time for the premiere. This is the best series I have ever seen on TV or at the movies. I hope Tyrian never dies. He is my absolute favorite character on the show.

  8. Side-Eye says:

The only thing that killed this trailer for me is Peter and Emilia’s acting. He seems to kinda be phoning it in and she. ..ugh. other than that I’m so far loving Oberyn who’s one of my favorite characters and I hope they do him right.

    • kimbers says:

Agree emilia’s scenes were not well acted and came out cheap. She was my fave for seasons 1&2 last year her storyline didn’t live up to the books bc they changed the timeline like they did for king jeff’s wedding and the arrival of his one handed uncle. Hopefully the actors dont get too comfortable and phone in the whole season bc I can go without watching an episode and reread my books if they do.

      • Side-Eye says:

I hated what they did with some of the storylines, particularly Robb’s. Peter and Emilia seem to be phoning it in since they’re popularity seems to be based around- I hesitate to say gimmicks but that’s what I feel the show reduced two complex characters into-wargh dragons and white knight Tyrion who has none of his darker complexity. The supporting characters like Jaime are really good though.

      • Tatjana says:

I hated what they did to Robb. I love Oona, but Talisa’s character and their love story completely changed Robb’s personality.
I hope Tyrion’s darker sides will come out a bit more, since I love that character. And, I’m not English, but Peter’s accent seems off. Nikolaj, who is Danish has a better accent, who would have thought.
As for Dany, I don’t like her in the books nor in the series.
And yes, the supporting cast is much stronger than the leades.

    • Mimif says:

Yeah I can’t with Emilia either, and I really tried. Half the time I think it’s just her heinous wiglet that’s throwing me off…

      • mom2two says:

I think Emilia and Kit are by far the weakest actors on the show. In Emilia’s case GRRM’s plotting for Dany does not help. I think Emilia is very beautiful and seems very nice. I don’t know what her hair and make-up artist were thinking last night.

Kit Harington is filming a movie in the UK, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is filming a movie in Australia and Natalie Dormer is filming Mockingjay. That’s why those three were not there.

      • InVain says:

Love Emilia, but I too wish she would step up her game. I’ve read the books…and have to say, while EVERY ONE was upset with the killing-offs last season – that’s what happened in the book, so as much as I love Robb and Cat – gotta go.

      • Side-Eye says:

I think her blank staring and same delivery in every shot is what did it.

      • iskra says:

I agree too. Emilia should change her voice a bit too, it is like she has just one way of saying all lines.

Btw, I am glad Jack came to the premiere, I think it is his first since GOT started. I know he is quitting acting after this and it makes me sad….he is good actor and a great guy.
Sybil (Shae) looks beautiful in white, she is naturally beautiful and elegant, and too bad Sophie ruined it with that horrible dress. Lena to me always seems like Frankenstein´s bride…its either black or white in some messy way. She should change her stylist if she has one at all. But she is beautiful.
As for Peter, he was great in season one, but it seems he simply got tired of Tyrion, he said once that at the moments he is terrified with fans and the fact that they identify him with Tyrion off the set and that it can be frightening.

  9. Chinoiserie says:

Sophie Turner´s make-up, dress and hair all look horrible in my opinion. She is so beautiful and would have deserved better.

  10. Meredith says:

So I have cable only for game of thrones/true blood seasons (although Black Sails on Starz…seriously people check it out. its slow starting but ends on a fantastic note!) and I’ve been watching season 1 and 2 all over again. Why are Jamie Lannister and Tyrion not blond anymore? That was the whole thing about the kids not being roberts because lannisters always have blond hair and in season 2/3 jamie and Tyrion have brown hair.

that and season 1 was by far the best yet.

    • mom2two says:

One of my complaints about the show is how they handle the hair (I know nitpicky, but it bugs). Jaime and Tyrion’s hair is brown while Cersei is blonde with dark eyebrows. At least Joffrey and his siblings are blonde and it’s believable that Tywin was a blonde is his younger days.
Bran and Robb should have been redheads. Richard Madden is a ginger but yet they dyed his hair brown. They kept Bran’s natural hair color but it looks like in season 4, they suddenly remembered he should have reddish hair and now has a wavy reddish-brown god awful wig.
I will miss Robb and Cat this season, but it happened in the book and was going to happen in the show.
I also agree that I think season 1 was their best yet.
Peter Dinklage also needs to decide on an accent and stick with it.

      • epiphany says:

I’m glad somebody mentioned that. Dinklage does a fantastic job as Tyrion – except for his accent, which I have to say is abysmal. Reminds me of the Kevin Costner version of ‘Robin Hood’, from the late 80’s. Costner kept going in and out of various English accents, and in some scenes is using his own, American accent. Dinklage does the same thing. Great actor, needs a dialect coach!

      • Seán says:

I don’t think Dinklage falls out of the English accent…it just sounds like Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7Rhws_K2RY). Aiden Gillen’s Littlefinger accent drives me nuts…it’s very inconsistent and all over the place!

    • epiphany says:

I can explain without giving anything away… in the books, while Jaime is captive – that part’s already been seen on the show – he finds he has lice, so his head is shaved. Now, remember, years have gone by between Season One, when he pushed Bran from the window, and when Jaime had his hand cut off. Those things were also already on the show. Combine the normal passage of time with his years of torture and starvation, his hair grows back darker, and, as made clear in the books, with a healthy sprinkling of grey. I won’t say anymore, other than some of the things you’ll see Cersie experience will likely have the same effect on her.

    • TG says:

Me too! I only pay for the HBO package for the GOT Season and then cancel when it is finished. I find the movies they play to be boring and they also play the same ones over and over. Their original programming can be good though, like GOT.

  11. call me cynical... says:

Everyone in my family is so excited; we can’t wait for the premiere of the new season…like you, I just hope they kill off that nasty little piece of work Joffrey! What a little sadistic beast he’s been!

  12. Happy21 says:

I’ve read the books and LOVED them so much I’m going to re-read them this Summer. I downloaded and watched the first season after I read the first book and enjoyed it a lot. However, the length of time between the seasons caused me to lose interest. I do plan on watching it eventually but I’ve got enough to watch these days.

However, I do totally plan on nerding out for a half an hour and have saved the George RR Martin interview in my faves 😉

  13. Size Does Matter says:

Lena looks regal. She gives such good b!tch face. And Lord I wish I had Gwendoline’s legs. I’ve forgotten the poor kid’s name who plays Geoffrey, but I feel bad for him. He seems like such a doll in reality, but I’m afraid people will never be able to separate him from that horrid character.

Please GRRM, write fast! I’m past ready for the next book!!!

  14. Spikey says:

    Wow… so Littlefinger… much *swoon*…

Please, please, dear Easterbunny. Bring me an GoT episode where My Precious frolics around naked all the time. In 3D!

I’ve been obsessed with this guy ever since Queer as Folk (BBC version). He needs to work more! We must have Aidan 24/7!

  15. Aria says:

Natalie is in Atlanta filming Mockingjay.

  16. Clucky says:

Does Rory own anything other than tartan suits?

  17. Sunlily says:

*closes eyes and just scrolls to the bottom*

I know there be spoilers up above. I just know it! Anyway, Ser Davos CAN GET IT!
