Before Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski took the Sochi Olympics by storm (seriously, their friendship and commentary was one of the highlights), Johnny was involved in a legal dust-up with his husband, Victor Voronov. Victor filed a police report claiming that Weir had bitten him in an act of domestic violence. But, by the time Weir and Voronov appeared in court in early March, they had worked out their differences and Victor asked the court to dismiss the charges. But now… their marriage is over. They got married in 2011 and Weir announced yesterday that they had split up:
Johnny Weir has split from husband Victor Voronov.
“It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together,” the former Olympic figure skater announced via Twitter Wednesday. “My heart hurts, and I wish him well.”
He married his lawyer beau in a New York civil ceremony in 2011, calling their wedding “the greatest moment in my life.”
But earlier this month, Radar Online reported the couple appeared in a New Jersey court as the Olympian faced charges of biting Voronov during a domestic dispute. A judge dismissed the case at their request March 5.
Known for his crazy costumes and routines, Weir returned to the Olympics this winter as a commentator. But in 2012, he still had hoped to compete in Sochi – with Voronov’s support.
“We’re very proud of this decision and it won’t affect anything,” Weir, 29, said at the time. “I’ll still wash boxers and cook dinner and clean the house and do everything I’m supposed to do as a happy husband.”
Now I’m really wondering about that domestic violence claim. And while I adore Johnny, I think he’s all about the drama and I wonder if domestic, married life did not agree with him in the end. I also wonder… will Johnny and Victor have to split assets? Does New York recognize communal assets in same-sex partnerships?

No matter what, I am a cheerleader of love and partnership and creation. I am sad yet I am thankful that I was loved and that I could love.

Wow, I really thought they were in it for the long haul… LOL
They looked so mismatched. Johnny’s husband looked like a guy that who wanted a regular life. Not wording it correctly
I know what you mean, I thought it a bit of an odd match last night when I saw their pictures. They both have nice smiles though. (not sure what that has to do with anything)
Weir strikes me as a temperamental diva who would be impossible to live with given his huge ego.
When someone begins to resort to violence in a relationship it is time to get out before it escalates to something worse, as it most cases it usually does.
I can see how this might have been a relationship that burned hot and consumed itself in drama. But if Little Loki were straight I’d be packing my bags and heading for NY.
Ditto, and I love Little Loki. He and Hiddles need to do some kind of mini movie together as Loki and his mini me.
Little Loki OMG
He does look like Loki. I read in some thread that Hiddles is the lovechild of Weir and Ben Linus of Lost. Haha.
hahahaha… that’s great!
He sounds more genuine than Mick Jagger.
Marriage is a difficult proposition no matter the sexual orientation. When you combine two people, there is an implied give and take and sacrifice of self. But no one should be biting (at least to cause harm), hitting or otherwise assaulting their partner. It’s good that they broke up, if that was the relationship dynamic.
I’m not surprised, it was very clear before the biting allegation that they did not have a healthy relationship. I’m not a Johnny Weir fan, I think he is a jerk.
he looks like he can be a Loki.
I was just about to make the same comment lol.
The soon-to-be ex-husband is a cutie. He looks like he would do better with another professional guy, like a lawyer or a doctor, though. Johnny Weir seems a bit of a drama diva for Victor, imo.
Best of luck to both of them, in any case.
Weir and Hiddles = separated at birth
Johnnytom Hiddlesweir.
anyway, if Disney ever wants to do Avengers on Ice…
Johnny seems to love drama and act like a diva, while his ex seems low key and hates drama.
Johnny and Victor are legally married, so their assets will be divided in the same way that any other divorcing couple’s would. Presumably they have a prenup – Victor has a law degree, after all.
I read that they do not have a prenup. Considering that Victor went to law school, you know he married Johnny realising that not having a prenup would financially benefit him immensely if their marriage would ever end in divorce. Even a person without a law degree would realise that. That mistake is on Johnny. He has more to lose and if Victor wants to go after his assets, I believe it would be divided the same ways as for straight couples.
If they don’t have a prenup, then yes, Johnny’s post-marriage assets would be divided evenly.
Wow, Gay people are exactly like straight people…We all suck at marriage! lol
maybe that’s because… we are all JUST people!
not to be divided by labels like “straight” or “gay” people.
ya think?!
absolutely!!! That was my point!!!
Funny how so few people are jumping all over him over the domestic violence issue. It counts the same, gay or straight. I’m thinking most male celebrities wouldn’t get a pass like this.
People have really given him a free pass on the domestic violence. It is terrible. Some of the comments on the figure skating boards were absolutely awful.
you are absolutely correct.
Most comment he is a diva, or that he looks like Loki. I don’t see the Loki part, I don’t care if he is a diva, but biting his partner is disgusting.
I know, right? If he were straight he’d be nailed to a f*cking cross.
the husband is technically a lawyer but hasnt really worked. and he loves fame as much as johnny does. johnny’s a pain but this guy reeks of gold digger.
If he is a gold digger, he is not a very good one. I question how much money Weir actually has, the big money days for figure skating were before Weir’s time.
true but johnny has been doing commentary for ice network, universal sports and now nbc. he gets invited to shows in asia and europe. he had a book and a reality show. he’s doing better than most other skaters. for someone like victor who doesnt work, it’s a decent amount.
