Rihanna’s injuries ‘horrific’ after alleged Chris Brown incident

TMZ has been accurate in reporting the Chris Brown-Rihanna fight details, but I’m hoping this time they’re wrong. Rihanna has injuries that are described as ‘horrific’ by their source. Brown is said to have hit her with his fists and to have bitten her.

Law enforcement sources have now gotten specific with us… police took pictures of Rihanna’s injuries and they are “horrific.”

As we reported, the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer’s face — there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody. We have now confirmed there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.

And we now know this… Rihanna claims Brown struck her with his fists and that’s what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.

Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. We’re told the photos alone are “devastating proof of abuse.”

And we’ve learned it was not Rihanna who called 911. Someone in the area heard her screams and called.

TMZ

Chris Brown is already suffering the career fallout, the Wrigley’s ads featuring Chris have been dropped from air and his contract has been suspended.

“Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown,” a company spokesperson tells Usmagazine.com. “We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen.

“However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved,” the statement continued.

Us Weekly

E! Online reports that Chris Brown posted $50,000 bail and has holed himself up in a hotel room in Los Angeles. Rihanna is recovering, and her family want her to return to Barbados for some recovery time, I think less from the physical injuries than the mental injuries, and to ‘keep her away from Chris’.

Police are still investigating.

As Jaybird said, many victims of abuse go back to their abusers (my sister, who is a counselor, says it takes around seven attempts to leave an abusive relationship on average) but hopefully the high profile nature of the assault will keep these two apart. I don’t want to leap to any conclusions, maybe there is an entirely innocent explanation, but it isn’t looking likely.

Rihanna has left the hospital, and her concert scheduled for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday has been canceled.

Who is that in the home page header? Courtney?

  2. prissa says:

This is so devastatingly sad for all parties involved. It’s too bad either one couldn’t take a step back before things got this far. I’m sure there was an argument that just escalated out of control. But WTF is up with the biting? Did Chris channel Mike Tyson or something? That is SERIOUS RAGE to actually bite someone. I’ve acutally bitten 4 ppl in my life and I was OUT OF CONTROL (although twice it was self defense).

  3. StrawberryFairy says:

Wow! This is so shocking. She will probably come out of all of this with MORE fans. On the other hand, Chris will probably live with the stigma of “woman-beater” for years and years to come. I know he must feel devastated…this is definitely one of those moments where you want to “go back in time” and change things, but you just cant. How awful.

  4. Celebitchy says:

@Xiao – an error with the name of the image files was causing Courtney Love’s photo to appear at first for this post and it’s been since fixed.

  5. 88modesty88 says:

On other sites people (very immature teenagers, most probably) were saying they “love Chris so much” and “she must have started it”. Or inane comments like “we don’t have the whole story”.

Granted, we don’t have all the facts but would anyone here like to imply that having “all the facts” would change the basic fact that he apparently acted in a very violent manner towards someone he’s supposed to be in love with?

Jeez, there is just no excuse, in my opinion, for hitting a woman. Unless you’re a woman yourself! But “pick on someone your own size” comes to mind…

  6. Ally says:

this is really, really sad and I don’t know why, but I have this weird feeling that this isn’t the first time that he abused he

  7. sissoucat says:

Good thing we get to know about this.

Hope Chris Brown understands what he’s done, and gets into a serious therapy. He’s still young, maybe he can change. Of course, if Rihanna goes back to him, he’ll never get the message.

Best of luck to Rihanna ; hope she heals mentally too, and avoids abusers in the future.

  8. vdantev says:

But you better not utter the g-word as a insult to Chris Brown, that’s going too far !!

  9. StrawberryFairy says:

Chris Brown better hope that no one from the police department leaks those photos of her injuries…

  10. mel says:

I’m not taking sides yet. I want to wait until Chris Brown has his day in court. Alot of what we are hearing is speculation. NO I dont condone any man hitting a woman but we all know the Chris Brown is already on trial through the media.

  11. Tia says:

smh at vdantev… wondering wtf? really.. wtf is up with that?? Hmmm some underlying issue perhaps??

  12. geronimo says:

Poor girl. No excuses here, hope she’s done with him and hope he pays for it – and not just with his career.

  13. Fil says:

I wonder why she didn’t call the police? I wonder why she refused medical treatment if she was hurt that bad? Why are we hearing this 2nd hand? Yet
A smear campaign has already begun before any one have seen pictures. I will wait for solid evidence before I past judgement. Hollywood has gotten so fake so I rather wait before I judge anything that comes out.

  14. EnKay says:

I appreciate the tone and content of your post Helen. This is so sad. I wish Rihanna strength.

  15. lady garden says:

if u have a look on The Panache Report there is a very interesting take on the herpes story citing Brown’s fixer….

  16. Bodhi says:

Ugh, no-one should have to suffer domestic violence. It took me a really long time to leave my abusive ex, but I finally did & it was the best thing I’ve ever done.

I hope Rihanna comes out of this ok & that Chris gets in to therapy ASAP

  17. rich says:

The world is a goofy place though. R Kelly has done pretty well since his incidents. While Brown maybe a thug, some high publicity intervention and rehab with anger management and he will be back. If anything us Americans can be a little too forgiving.

  18. Codzilla says:

I hope Chris Brown gets some serious jail time. And I agree with Ally that this is likely not the first time he’s abused Rhianna. He just got caught this time. Asshole.

  19. sauvage says:

Good Lord. I hope she chose to end it right that very moment. And kudos to the person who called the police. Thanks to him or her.

  20. Debbi says:

@vdantev It’s because the “g word” is not an insult. It’s another term for homosexuality, which is a mark of pride. As opposed to domestic abuse, which is not.

  21. xiaoecho says:

I’m with the posters above assuming this is not the first time. I can understand Rhianna not calling the police or wanting it to get out – abused women feel a huge load of shame for all sorts of reasons. Like Bodhi, I’m a survivor of an abusive relationship and the abuse starts small so this sort of attack on Rhianna is likely to have happened before. I felt huge shame because as a smart successful woman, no-one else knew that I allowed myself to be treated that way behind closed doors.

It is incomprehensible to me that women posters feel sorry for and are expressing sympathy for Chris Brown

  22. elainebenes says:

Poor girl. Did not see this coming.

Hopefully this is the first & last time this happens. Abusers are very good at manipulating the victim, making them feel like it’s their fault & bringing them down emotionally to make them feel that they won’t find anyone else who will “love” them. It’s called control.

All the best to Rhianna. Chris can rot in hell.

  23. Rebecca says:

Her name should not have been published in the media, whether she’s famous or not.
The victim-blaming others have commented on is no surprise to me.
Even the use of the word “fight” in the first sentence of this post is iffy to me, as it implies this involved a mutual assault, when there is no implication to that effect in news reports, as far as I can see.

  24. vdantev says:

Excuse me everyone, I was making oblique references to previous article where other posters jumped all over me for jokingly calling Chris gay, but the meat of the article detailing Rihanna’s abuse at his hands could damn well hang. People ahve damn strange priorities and what they don’t say can be as revealing as what they do say at times.

    Carry on.

Addendum: Mr. Brown is a maggot.

  25. eva says:

    this is so sad.
what kind of guy uses his fists on a woman? that’s disgusting.

don’t tell me. he was teaching her to respect (and obey) him.
this guy should sit in a jail cell for a long time and get his butt kicked there too. there’s no excuse for what he did. none. he’s a pig.

  26. me says:

wtf??!?! why did this have to happen to RIHANNA?!?!? 🙁 shes amazing….shes such a classy strong girl, i never imaginesd she would date an abuser….god…this is really really sad

  27. sara says:

i think this is all a lie i mean why would chris brown hit rihanna i doesn’t make sense. mabye there was an arguement but not even celebrities aren’t dat violent….. and chris brown well knows that celebrities doing something wrong spreads in 2 seconds so why would he beat her for. he has got to be mental to do stuff like dat…

and if chris brown did do it he should be real ashamed of him self you should never hit a girl no matter what age or for any resons!

  28. Nora says:

This is very frustrating! Chris Brown has been prosecuted and sentenced by many already! Who is to say Rihanna is not the one who started the physical fight, and he was forced to defend himself. After all, she is bigger, and may be stronger than him. Why is it that society makes it okay for women to hit on men, but men get prosecuted even if there is no physical marks on a woman. Allegedly, Chris has marks on him too. Why would she have bite marks on her fingers and hands unless she was attacking him, and he was trying to defend himself! ????? Lets not be so quick to judge!

  29. Persistent Cat says:

Sara, you are illiterate. And Nora??? I don’t even know what to say.

I was once in a situation like that. You don’t tell anyone because you are ashamed and embarrassed. You don’t leave for many reasons. I kept trying but he threatened my life, my family’s life, he’d kill himself, etc. You don’t reason with abusive men, it’s their way or no way.

Why didn’t she call the cops? Fear, shame, odds are he took her phone or wouldn’t let her. Why didn’t she let them treat her on site? Again fear, shame and I would assume she was expective the paps at any second.

And vdantev, why do you even post? You’re like Bart in that Simpsons episode where Lisa makes the doll and everyone is trying to name the doll and Bart is jumping around saying stupid things and then finally comes right out and screams, “look at me!!!” You’re not edgy or controversial, you’re just looking for attention.

  30. xiaoecho says:

Nora ……are you saying he had to give her two black eyes, a split lip and BITE her TWICE in self defense?

    you’re joking right????

  31. FF says:

Oh for heaven’s sake Dante, make the same way you keep telling the Brangelina/Aniston people and get the hell over it. You already had this out in the last post why the hell bring in again, do you want the attention or something?

If you must argue it, do it where you started the argument, not in every Chris Brown/Rihanna post from here on out.

Back on point: I’m pretty disappointed it wasn’t Rihanna that phoned in the incident. It does come across as if it has possibly happened before. I hope not. But what’s up with refusing medical attention? She shouldn’t be ashamed, he should.

Hitting, AND biting her?! That’s just rage. I fail to see any excuse that could justify that. Now I want to hear his statement just to have it out there.

  32. Rebecca says:

@ Nora “Why would she have bite marks on her fingers and hands unless she was attacking him, and he was trying to defend himself! ????? Lets not be so quick to judge!”
Seems like you are pretty quick to judge, yourself, there, champ.

Well-connected people are just as vulnerable to domestic abuse as regular people; at least in Rihanna’s case, unlike many women’s, she has financial resources and skills to survive on her own should she choose not to return to him.

  33. Orangejulius says:

vdantev – don’t go away. I didn’t like your gay comment either, but you are appreciated for your biting sense of humor.
And, prissa, be careful what you reveal on here, lest those in that rarified atmosphere up on their high horses tell you that you are in denial of your serious anger issues!

  34. california angel says:

Regardless of how it happened, it is completely horrible. I’m really concerned as to how people even believe that Chris Brown had nothing to do with it seeing as he FLED the scene and has since been in HIDING. Any normal human being would not have left their girlfriend bleeding in a car. Quite frankly, whether he did it or not, he is still a louse in my book.

  35. Nora says:

Actually I am dead serious! I don’t need attention! It a fact I work as a criminal Legal Assistant, and I see these sort of things all the time! I can honestly say that no one should be putting their hands on anyone! (Most of us are taught not to ever put our hands on others in an angry manner, but we are also taught not to let people beat the crap out of us (man or woman) now days women think they have a free pass to assault men because they assume a man will not hit them back). ( I always tell my daughters if they have the guts to hit a man they better expect to get hit back) Many people don’t have self control, or may have anger management issues. All we have is hearsay information at this point. (We really don’t know who suffered the most injuries) I see case after case where all a woman has to do is call police and tell them their boyfriend or husband hit them, pushed them, ect…and the guy goes to jail, her word against his. I also have seen cases where the woman stabbed the husband 4 times, and the husband bit her! And he went to jail. Nothing happened to her. So in this case we don’t know all the facts. I heard this all started because he was looking at other girls at the party they were at. Well, that tell me she is insecure, and must have issues of her own.

  36. Baholicious says:

Nora: “I heard this all started because he was looking at other girls at the party they were at. Well, that tell me she is insecure, and must have issues of her own.”

I hope you don’t mean that this justifies assault.

I agree we don’t have all the facts but he obviously wailed on her. In the confined space of a car where she couldn’t immediately remove herself from or remotely defend herself against the situation. She was quite possibly belted in and was for all intents and purposes, a sitting duck.

  37. NotBlonde says:

Nora: is English your second language?

Anyway, there is no doubting that Chris Brown beat her up. He was the only one in the car with her, he’s turned himself in and he’s now in hiding.

He’s a disgusting, despicable human being if it is even within the realm of possibility for him to beat a woman.

I co-sign with those who say it probably wasn’t the first time. It rarely is.

  38. Pat says:

I see where Nora is coming from….All she is saying is (wait on the facts). Anything is possible. I would turn myself in too if cops were looking for me because someone alleges I beat them up. Just because he went to police doesn’t mean he is guilty. Rihanna does look like she can hold her own.

  39. NotBlonde says:

Pat there is no “wait for the facts”. The facts are that Rihanna and Chris were in a car, they got into an argument and he beat her up. Police arrived on the scene, Rihanna told them that Chris was her attacker. Did she beat herself up?

  40. aleach says:

I hope is career is over after this.

  41. Persistent Cat says:

“Can hold her own”?????? Oh my God Pat, no.

I have a black belt in taekwon-do and I wouldn’t want to go up against him.

  42. Mairead says:

Dante… why are you being disrepectful to invertebrates? Maggots are God’s creatures too you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!eleventy!!!!!1111

Anyway – on the phone issue I thought the police were called during the assault – Rhianna is a very talented young woman, but that’s not the time for multi-tastking

I can see the point of being circumspect as at the moment as apart from the fact that someone called the police to an altercation in a car, Chris Brown handed himself in and is out on bail, everything else is hearsay.

If and when it comes to court we’ll doubtless hear the full story – whether one or other of them are off their respective trollies on something, who attacked whom first or if this is an escalation of ongoing domestic abuse.

I can see Nora’s point in that no-one should hit anyone else and domestic and sexual abuse by women against men is chronically-underreported and if convicted the women get off with a much more lenient sentence. I’ve also long said that if you’re going to hit someone you’d better expect one back.

HOWEVER, as I’ve seen one of these mutually-abusive cases up close (not me or my immediate family thankfully) I can say with confidence that in that case, outside of an implement being used, the women basically always come off the worst due to the sheer difference in upper-body strength and being able to get a better forward momentum.

And seriously, you can’t see a situation where someone is trying to fend off blows and get bitten? I’m hoping you never have to find out what it’s like my dear. And if we’re going to believe everything that we read, the fact of the matter is whoever this woman was ended up with really bad injuries whilst his were nowhere near as bad (allegedly).

That there puts paid to any assertions that she “could hold her own”

  43. NotBlonde says:

I am not of the school of thought where if a woman hits a guy, she should expect to get hit back. That is seriously flawed thinking and dangerous to excuse a man hitting a woman just because she hit him first. Rihanna has small hands and skinny arms. Chris Brown is clearly stronger than her. If she started hitting him, he should have just grabbed her arms. End of discussion.

There is no “I lost my temper”, there is no “well she was hitting me”. As a MAN, he should never ever hit a woman, regardless of the circumstances.

  44. Mairead says:

Notblonde, I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I’m sorry I didn’t make myself clearer. I was being gender neutral – hitting anyone outside of a boxing ring is never acceptable. Also, I’d like to stress that, I’m not saying that if one hits someone, that one deserves to be struck back or that it makes it excusable – just that it shouldn’t be a complete surprise.

  45. rene says:

ok Chris Brown and Rihanna look happy but what if they was not to me Chris Brown look like he what out so Rihanna did”t what that so Rihanna had to do something bad to here slfe so we can say Chris Brown did it???so u can look at it your way but naw wht real and what not don”t just look at it one way look at it two ways..u naw??

  46. Mairead says:

    *blink… blink* Weird Babelfish translation?

I recommend using a different translation website.

  47. Orangejulius says:

rene, WTF? Reading that shit is hurting my eyes.

  48. desiree says:

i dont think chris brown should go to jail she dosent look that bad and they werent even going out so she should go to jail

  49. Jenna says:

I use to bite when I was two all the way to four over toys and such. What the hell is a nineteen year old male doing biting? What the hell is he doing hitting a female? Nasty little punk that one is.

  50. Jenna says:

Desiree, she doesn’t look that bad? You do understand the pictures currently on this thread are ones taking days before the fight? There haven’t been any pictures released of Rihanna’s face nor her fingers.

  51. Mairead says:

Thanks Jenna – I thought I hallucinated that comment… the alleged victim is the one who should go to prison for the crime of getting beaten by a bloke she wasn’t going out with? f*ck me!

  52. This is no doubt not the first time he’s pulled this shit. And if she doesn’t get away from him now, it won’t be the last time.

When it becomes acceptable behavior within the course of the relationship to physically intimidate/dominate your mate – the dynamics of the relationship have been irreparably skewed. It’s tough, but cut your losses and run, love, while you still can.

No time or tolerance for men who raise their hands to women. Throw him in jail, and see how far he gets with his machismo. Selfish, manipulative prick.

Mairead – your comments are very empathetic and thoughtful, as always. 😉

  53. And also – when a woman gets worked over by her significant other, it’s always “her fault”. She said something, she did something, she didn’t do something . . . It’s always her fault.

Women in abusive relationships always start the fight because they are always the ones to blame. So what if Rihanna didn’t smack him or give him an STD? She clearly did something to incur his wrath. She obviously did something that made the person she loves beat the shit out of her. Right? Because it’s always the woman’s fault for driving her man to the brink of sanity and reason. Right?

If I had a nickel for every time my ex told me how angry I made him, I’d have been able to cover my hospital bills.

  54. Jill says:

Nora, please. Like if little tiny Rihanna was hitting big bad Chris Brown the only way he could stop her was to split her lip and bite her? Way to be a wife-beater apologist. He’s a piece of shit.

I hope this girl can find it in her to leave him, it’s very likely not the first time he’s been violent to her.

  55. SixxKitty says:

Im shocked at the amount of “hate’ being directed at her on other site, saying she provoked him etc… since when is the victem the villan?

  56. NENE says:

AINT NUN WRONG WIT DAT BITCH

    {LADIIRAYSHUN}

  57. Rebecca says:

    Jaundice nailed it.

  58. RAN says:

She can really soar with all of this now. If she uses her fame as an example to other young people that this type of behavior isn’t acceptable and women should stand up for themselves, she may be able to save a few lives. I hope she takes this path and makes a big deal out of the whole thing. The point of the message: If the (previously) sweetly imaged Chris Brown can pull this stuff, so can normal men. Get help ladies, before it’s too late.

  59. lway says:

You guys – there are 2 sides to a story……

I have to agree with Nora. You don’t know until you have been there. I have been in an abusive relationship and i have punched my ex in the face too.

You cannot judge until you have been in that situation yourself.

It’s not right. It’s not mature to hit someone – but sometimes these things happen.

I’d like to see what Chris has to say for himself before i pass too much judgement.

  60. Jenna says:

Two stories yes but don’t people preach that hitting a woman is immoral and wrong? That’s why people are so upset. Then you have the star f*ckers that come on this site and praise him.

  61. i think u poeple r quick to judge no one knows what happened tht night he desevers a fair chance who is to say he was not provoked u poeple need to know ur place and shut ur mouth with all respect we are barbadian just like rhianna and i am not sizing with anyone they both could have walked away!!!! so stop judging one without the next and check for ur own relationship cause rightfully that is not even ur business to deal wid even so!!!!!

  62. Mandie says:

I think this whole thing is absolutely terrible. Two of the most talented artists, (in my opinion) their lives are pretty much ruined now. Who really knows what happened that night? Either way, it doesn’t matter to me about who beat up who ’cause we will never know the REAL truth just what the media wants us to know/think (which is usually a bunch of lies to cause excitement for the public). This incident doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop listening to music that I enjoy. I think people are stupid for going off and acting like they know what’s going on and saying shit about these two people when you are really just making accusations. I would really like to know the real truth of the matter, but that will never happen! Until then, I think people need to shut up and mind their own business and let these two people work out their own problems!

  63. jen says:

I heard she gave him a STD! thats why she got her ass beat! it could be true????

  64. tyty says:

Come on…Its chris brown. NO WAY!!!! I just dont believe it people!

  65. ewoosey24 says:

chris brown is such an asshole for doing something like that to rihanna. I’m jessica simpson and I don’t even get beaten.

  66. jessica says:

who would want to hit someone as beautiful as rhianna.

  67. Mandie says:

Even if Rihanna gave Chris herpes that’s still no reason to beat the crap out of someone. (if he really did) break up with her – yeah, beat the shit out of her – definitely not!

  68. promise chiji says:

chris brown acted like a jerk to have beaten someone he claims to be his girlfriend and love thats just too bad..

  69. alexis says:

ummm yeah i dont like rihanna for lying on chris brown he did not hit her stop lyinng rihanna cuz im chris brown # 1 fan and he would neva hit a girl… i still love you chris brown even though rihanna tried to rouin you curer…stop lieing please rhianna and thanks for listing

  70. It’s a very sad day. But on another note people fail to realize things happen for a reason. People, remember Rihanna was to perfom in Malysia and their are extremist group who stated that they did not want her in the country. Lets say that this incident did not happen (Chris and Rihanna incident) God forbid and she did attend this concert, based on past event, these people could have killed her. So lets just say thank God for Life. peace.

  71. oreo says:

bitch got what she deserved and that chris brown is a gay as clost fag

  72. .:43Va*MiN3Z:. says:

even tho itz all late n wat not i juz wanna say dat chris took full responsibility for his actions yea he hid but eventually he turnd himself in and every 1 wantz 2 b talkin shit bout him callin’ him a women beater n fillin sympathy for rihanna that she got er’ ass beat than y tha f**k wuld she go n run bakk 2 him lyk 3 weeks later or sumn lyk dat???? datz hella dumb itt juz dnt make no sense yea i felt badd 4 her lyk damn datz messed up n shit but 4real tho shez dumb for goin bakk 2 him. but i gess she juz kant resist….

  73. .:43Va*MiN3Z:. says:

but put all da bullshit aside i’m still fillin’ chris breezie!!!! az 4 rihanna shez alrite, n i gotta giv her props 4 da “rude boy” song she gott now, itz purdy tight!!!
