Tom Hiddleston was so jazzed to sing in ‘The Pirate Fairy’, it’s all pretty adorable

LMK-088912

We need some Tommy Hiddleston today, don’t we? Unfortunately, Tommy has really been MIA for a few months now. I’m feeling the loss significantly. Tommy is such a dancing performance bear of a man, so eager to please, so needy, so lovely. I’m hoping that whenever he finishes filming in Toronto (with his new BFF Jessica Chastain), he’ll come back into our lives in a big way. Even if he just goes home to London, we should still get photos of him on the reg, as he loves to go out to events and parties. Here’s hoping!

Anyway, Tommy’s new direct-to-DVD animated film The Pirate Fairy has already had its LA premiere (no Hiddles) and I guess it’s already out. And there are probably thousands of Dragonflies who bought the DVD and are now currently fantasizing about a cartoon Captain Hook. Disney released another behind-the-scenes video of Tommy’s voice work (and singing!) for the film. Enjoy:

He is seriously so, so cute. He’s not, like, raw sexuality or anything. He’s just cute and sweet and he gets so jazzed about singing a cheesy pirate song for kids. It’s easy to imagine him as a dorky uncle, the one who will help you engineer the best pillow fort ever, all while whistling off-key.

Here are some additional videos from The Pirate Fairy, stuff that we’ve already seen but you’ll probably want to watch again:

Aw, that’s pretty adorkable. I like to think he had his nieces in mind when he did this one lol.

  2. Sixer says:

You realise this went to wide cinema release in the UK, right? I want to snark but honestly, it’s taken ridiculous money – millions and millions. It’s been on the between-shows top ten movies this week segment on the telly for weeks now. Thankfully, they’ve excluded the singing.

The Horny Helmet is a box office draw for reals. Ha.

    • Roberta says:

Sixer – I saw it in the UK box office top 10 (he favourited a tweet about it recently).

And I’m glad he’s MIA, it hopefully means the craziness will die down.

    • Eve says:

Same’s happening in Brazil — it went to cinema release here.

Why do I know that, you ask me? Because you didn’t freaking save me from myself the other day and yesterday I watched RoboCop a THIRD time (so I got to see what else was showing while I was waiting to buy my ticket).

Oh, and thank you because I TOTALLY wanted that (watch it a third time (he he he…).

      *waves*

      • Kali says:

@Eve: Joel Kinnaman fan? Good taste 😄

      • Sixer says:

Eve! Twice in a fortnight! Hooray!

        I admire your commitment, girl.

My pash of the week is Bill Nighy since the second two parts of David Hare’s Worricker Trilogy have been on. Not seen the third one yet: that’s recorded for tonight’s viewing.

      • Foile says:

@ Sixer Yeah for Worricker – I absolutely love Bill Nighy in this. I am watching the third one now

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Sixer, jeaous! Bill Nighy is a favorite. Love everything he does. The man is brilliant.

      • Sixer says:

Neither was quite as good as Page Eight, but anything that puts dialogue eviscerating Tony Blair into the mouth of Bill Nighy gets major thumbs up from me.

      • icerose says:

Bill Nighy and David Hare’s Worricker Trilogy. What a combination-and throw in Christopher Walked tossing quotes around and three episodes is just not enough. And I have tickets to Skylight and A Street Car Named Desire. Now all I need is for Tom to win an Oliver and I shall sleep happy for the next two months.
I love his enthusiasm and bounce but I think I will leave Pirate Fairies out of my must have DVD’S unless I can persuade myself that it has some hidden allegorical meaning that I am missing out on.

    • lunchcoma says:

Whoa. Really? I’m surprised. It looks kind of dreadful, and it’s not like there aren’t other family-oriented films out right now.

      • JoAnn says:

My 6 year old has all the fairy series and they are actually quite well done. Disney does a good job with them…much better than some of the craptastic stuff in theatres (Peabody and Sherman…just plain awful!) Tom should voice a big Disney or Pixar movie next time though, his voice is terrific.

    • Secret Squirrel says:

I was wondering why a straight to DVD release warranted a premiere, but seems it has had cinema releases. Kids will love it (boys loves pirates, girls love fairies) so I am surprised Disney hasn’t released it world wide into the theatres.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Were the other Pixie Hollow films given theatrical release outside the US?

    • Sixer says:

No idea – I only realised as it kept popping up on the TV box office top ten segment week after week. I just checked the BFI and it’s taken something like £5m. Blimey. Relatively speaking, that would be in the region of $20m plus, stateside, right?

  3. Greata says:

    OMG! I LOVE HIM! GREAT ACTOR, APPRECIATES HAVING A JOB THAT PAYS HANDSOMELY, SHOWS UP TO INTERACT WITH THE AUDIENCE WITHOUT HAVING A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, OR MAKING THEM FEEL AS IF HE IS GRANTING THEM AN AUDIENCE FOR WHICH THEY SHOULD BE PROFOUNDLY GRATEFUL! GO HIDDLES GO!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry about the caps, but after seeing him sing…I kinda wanted to burst out in song myself.}

    • Rachel says:

I skipped the singing, so no CAPS… but I agree with you completely. It’s nice to see an actor who doesn’t take himself too seriously and “suffer” for his art. He’s fun and gracious with his fans. He doesn’t act like he’s doing people a favor by gifting them with his performances. He seems to have a good work ethic. I like him a lot.

      • OhDear says:

        It’s really refreshing.

At the same time, though, part of me thinks that he’s just doing his job properly.

    • Lilacflowers says:

After a long day at work with people griping about EVERYTHING concerning their jobs, it is so entertaining to see a man enjoy working. Granted, he isn’t risking his life entering burning buildings or working in a coal mine or a fishing boat or anything else dangerous, but it must be such a delight for those unknown, barely credited, sound engineers to go to work with a man who is polite and happy and full of joy to be doing what he loves.

    • jammypants says:

The man has great work ethic. He’s passionate and professional.

  4. Alright then says:

So freaking adorable. I wonder if his cheeks regularly ache from all the smiling. And props to him for dressing up for voice work. If it were me, I’d probably have worn sweats.

  5. Hello Kitty says:

When will he get a chance to host SNL?!?! He can sing, dance, and ham it up to his heart’s content. Lorne Michaels, please make this happen!
I’d love to see him as an Merryville Brother animatronic robot.

    • Kali says:

I think he would be amazing but I don’t know if my heart could take it if it was a bad episode. SNL just isn’t consistently good these days 🙁

    • Janeite says:

As much as I love him, he’s not nearly high-profile enough for an SNL hosting gig.

      • 'p'enny says:

How high profile do you need to be? he played the only bad guy in Avengers, the third biggest grossest film ever. LOL

      • Janeite says:

He needs to be much more of a household name than he is right now. Outside of the internet, he really isn’t all that well known. In spite of the fact that the super hero movies do well, they play to somewhat of a niche audience. Not nearly enough of mainstream America knows who he is yet.

  6. Kali says:

    S^*+, I think I’ve gone from a fan to full-blown dragonfly. Godd@mmit.

    • Isadora says:

He’s really collecting them these days. I’m a recently converted dragonfly too. Yes, damn.

  7. Sway says:

    I love this beautiful man!

  8. mena says:

Awwww, Tom! So long & lean & smiley!

  9. Leah says:

Honestly, if anybody else had done this I’d want to kick a puppy or something. But this lanky bastard has me wrapped around his little finger so I’m charmed. I’m addicted to this 2048 Tom H game and I think you all should be too because everybody might as well have an unproductive but enjoyable Friday.

    • fruitloops says:

OMG, this is sooooo funny, this is one of the reasons I love the internet 😀

    • Secret Squirrel says:

Well thanks Leah. I still don’t understand the rules, but I have spent hours at play on that game today. That black and white pic where he looks up is just so unbelievably nearly almost f**king perfect.

  10. 'p'enny says:

Nice picture, the top one. niiiiice.

I am still trying to ignore the Pirate Fairy, I will not add it to my Tommy film collection. I draw the line -here. Stop. Refused to play the clips.

Well what we do know [according to twitter last week] he is filming High Rise in London, June- probably for the whole summer. So get your binoculars and helicopters ready for the ‘sunbathing naked on the patio’ scene.

And, hopefully, he may get spotted catching up with his Avengers buddies on the London scene, as they will be all filming without him – weep. Chis Evans is complaining his cast are boring, all married off with kids, so he may give Tom a ring when he is in town. I would love to see a pic of them stumbling out of a night club.

    • Froop says:

Bahaha @ binoculars and nude sunbathing. How disappointed will everyone be if that scene is cut out? I’m looking forward to High Rise but I’ll be giving Pirate Fairy a miss.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@’penny’, watch the clips, dear. They are entertaining. I don’t think Disney realizes the profit margin if they would just release a “Making of” documentary.

    • Isadora says:

I won’t watch the Pirate Fairy either. I feel app. 20 years too old for this.

Buuuuut watch the clips, penny. Really, they are adorable. Utterly charming. Do it. *whisper* 🙂

    • Sealya says:

Hmmmm….my husband has to be in London for work for 5 weeks starting the beginning of June. People keep asking if I plan to go over for some of the time he is there. And I keep saying no, I wouldn’t get to hang out with him because he’ll be so busy with work (although the free hotel room is not nothing given London prices). But now maybe I will reconsider 🙂

      • 'p'enny says:

The Star Wars cast will be in town too, well worth a celeb stalking weekend. I would do it.

      • icerose says:

Tom spotting ,naked Tom spotting ,Tom at theatre openings spotting,Tom on the tube spotting,Tom on a night out with Benny and Chris Evans plus Gillian Anderson, Bill Nighy, Kevin Spacey, Anthony Sher and Mark Strong appearing in the West End what’s not to come to London for!!!

    • lunchcoma says:

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Chris wants to go out and have fun.

But, oddly, I don’t think we’ve ever seen Tom look terribly drunk. I’m guessing it’s some combination of a high tolerance and keeping the real shenanigans to house parties.

    • Lilacflowers says:

‘penny’, dear. I wouldn’t put too much stock in a nude sunbathing scene. Most such scenes now rely on fake parts. The most recent film “Nymphomaniac” uses fake parts for all the major actors/actresses, as did Wolf of Wall Street for Jonah Hill, and, of course, Boogie Nights for Mark Wahlberg.

    • browniecakes says:

So what fun did CE and TH offer the extras in the middle of the night in Cleveland during Avengers that Natalie said at Comic Con in NY 2011 was ‘the best experience of her life’? See 26:49:

  11. BW says:

Soooo, he dresses to the left.

    • Leah says:

I had no idea what you meant by this until I checked on Google and oh my! This made me inspect the pictures and at first I thought it was a clothes fold but no, he is blessed.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Mostly, but not always. There is a young teen-ager who maintains a Tumblr site keeping track of such things.

  12. Miss Jupitero says:

Sorry, I still cannot bear to listen to his singing. Maybe I will watch OLLA again though. It is growing on me.

I’m glad he is away from the limelight a bit. He really is risking overexposure. He needs to put in a solid year of work.

Thank you for that last picture. Hiddleconda is always a welcome pet.

    • Sixer says:

I love those Cannes pics. Hot but not airbrushed, a friend in the pocket, and a slight smug look that I could enjoy wiping right off… yes, well. My favourite Horny Helmet pictures.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

And no need for a ball gag– for now anyway. 🙂

      • Sixer says:

Provided we NEVER play the piratical video! I am not tempted.

      • Secret Squirrel says:

Ahhh, Sixer, back on the Tommy love train I see. Although I sense you could easily change your mind halfway through seducing him and end up kicking him in the…..ankle.
        🙂

    • 'p'enny says:

@ Miss Jupitero “I’m glad he is away from the limelight a bit. He really is risking overexposure. He needs to put in a solid year of work.”

I can’t agree more, but it’s hard on my Hiddles addiction.

I love the Cannes pics, the most sexy and sophisticated, and more importantly fashionable he has pulled off.

    • M.A.F. says:

Not a fan of the singing either. Those Cannes photo were good but he needs to learn that sunscreen is ones best friend.

    • Isadora says:

Yes to the overexposure! And yes to the addiction. On the other hand I’ll contend myself with no Hiddles if it works for the greater good a.k.a his career. Because I want to have him around for the long run in great roles and not only back in 10 years in Thor 9: Rise of Hel (with Alex Pettyfer as Thor because Chris Hemsworth has to look after his – by then – six children as a single dad. Elsa left him for someone with an Oscar.)

What I probably love most about Cannes is that he has not only forgotten underwear, but finally, thankfully the orange foundation. The make-up artist that normally lets him out with those fake tan lines on his face should be kept bound and safe in one of the basements these tumblr girls have ready. In case he himself is responsible for the bronzer catastrophes I kindly offer my own basement for safekeeping.

  13. browniecakes says:

Thanks Kaiser. I miss him too. Supposed to warm up in Toronto soon for our boy. Hope Crimson Peak is a hit.

  14. T.fanty says:

I would let him tie me to his mast.

Is it wrong to think dirty thoughts about a children’s cartoon?

    • Secret Squirrel says:

      🙂

I had a few jokes lined up about his sword, but you win with that one!

  15. joe spider says:

Wasn’t it supposed to go straight to video? Wonder why/when they changed their minds. Does anyone know how muchit has taken at the box office?

Would it count as part of Tom’s contracted 6 films?

    • 'p'enny says:

Its straight to DVD in the US , the UK have put it on in the cinema.

I like to think it counts against its 5-6 film contract, [depending on what article you find] i do wonder about the Muppets too, I mean seriously why do it, if you couldn’t knock one or two obligations off your contract? i don’t buy it’s for my niece crap, of which he came out with last year. This man is picky about what he does. I said this before, but i still think Marvel pulled him out of Capa -sue me Kevin! He is on sh@t pay contract with Marvel, considering the weight Loki pulls, now. He’s third billing behind Natalie Portman, seriously? he must be on half the paycheck of Chris/Natalie. The quicker he burns it off, the better he can negotiate a better pay deal for Thor 3.

      • joe spider says:

I’ve wondered that about the Capa film because it was obvious he spent a lot of time researching the film before it was announced. and there has been a deafening silence about the reasons since it was pulled. Would filming have interfered with additional shooting for Thor 2 I wonder?

      • Froop says:

Were Chris and Tom not given equal paychecks since they were both cast as unknowns? Or maybe Tom was offered less because Thor was the big hero and Loki was only supposed to be a smaller supporting role. I heard Chris H was unhappy about his Marvel $$$ when he got well known but we didn’t hear Tom complaining about money.

      • lunchcoma says:

This Pirate Fairy thing is definitely a mystery. I don’t think it’s a contract burn off, but I think it might have been some kind of favor and might have been related to the Capa film.

The Muppets movie is a different matter. James McAvoy, Christopher Waltz, Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci, Ray Liotta, and all kinds of other people had small roles or cameos. A lot of actors seem to enjoy being in Muppets-related projects, perhaps for the nostalgia value or perhaps because it’s a quick appearance that most people will view positively.

      • 'p'enny says:

        @joe spider

Tom’s extra filming for Thor 2 was the one scene, Cap A in July , but mostly all the Hopkins scenes in August. Capa was scheduled end June-aug. It’s too much of a coincidence to me. No evidence btw -pure gossip

        @Froop
The internet gossip [on Deadline /Collider- can’t remember which it was a long time ago] is that Tom is on peanuts compared to Chris H, and his agent did try and negotiate a bigger rise for his Avengers role. But, he was not on the salary of even the lower avengers , it has also come to light that Chris H is on a bad salary anyway for Thor2, hence his moaning. The contract for Chris is rumoured to be a small up front, £500,000 for Thor 2 and % of the profits once the film starts to gain over $500m . Nothing was said was about Tom’s salary.

If i was Tom, I would be moaning of crap pay and trying to get out of the contract.

I love Deadline and Collider, they are full of gossip.

      • M.A.F. says:

He said in some interview around the time of Thor 2 that he doesn’t pay attention to the business side of things. I think he was answering a question in relations to the other actors complaining about their salaries vs. RDJ. If he and the other actors involved are still getting paid less then that is a shame really.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

The Capa film lost its funding. The whole film was canceled, not just Tom’s part in it. It was a major bummer for everyone.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

It would be a very bad business move for Tom to bitch about pay. He is not in the position to negotiate yet. He really isn’t. The bit about not paying attention to business is crap: he was in an interview with RDJ and sounded very eager to move toward the bigger bucks. He also followed on Twitter whoever it is who tracks box office– I suspect that Tom also has the possibility of a bonus if the numbers hit a certain figure, hence his tireless promotion.

      • lunchcoma says:

Yeah, I don’t buy that he doesn’t pay attention to business, either. He’s a well-educated guy whose father is an executive. His lifestyle is also much more in keeping with his earnings than that of many people who are new to fame – no evidence of splurges on cars or clothes or partying. I would guess he’s more knowledgeable about his finances than the usual actor, and that he’s smart enough to realize he should keep any paycheck negotiations private. Which makes sense – it’s not like those endear performers to either audiences or studios.

      • Isadora says:

I agree with Miss Jupitero & lunchcoma. Hiddles hardly ever bitches about anything so it would be quite out of character for him to complain about his paycheck. What goes on behind closed doors – who knows? But didn’t he change his U.S. agent after Thor or something? I’m not sure if he did and if it’s in any way related to this, just sayin’.

On the other hand I think it would be an especially unclever move for him to complain about money because of his image. I mean, a lot of people know that he comes from a wealthy family, went to Eton & Cambridge & RADA. Those things don’t exactly come for free. And it really doesn’t matter PR-wise if he is in any way still financially connected to his family or wants to be on his on feet in that regard, he will always be seen as “the rich boy”. And for a “rich boy” to complain about his salary is always worse than for someone from a modest background. People just love to bash the rich, no matter if they really are rich or worked hard for it or what not…

      • Froop says:

Do you think, lunchcoma? The big Belsize Park house for a single man, the Jag (although that was probably free of course), most of his clothing appears to be Armani/other designers (also free?), dining at the Ivy and such. He seems to do plenty of splurging.
If he only earned 200k for Avengers I’d say he was living ostentatiously/above his means. Above his actor earnings I mean, possibly he has income from other places.

But I don’t think he’s the type to discuss his finances openly – most rich/posh types aren’t and actors get uncomfortable and embarrassed talking about their ridiculous wages.

      • Isadora says:

If he had the money for his Belsize Park house (maybe from his parents/trust fund/whatever) it was actually a rather smart move. Money can’t just lie at the bank you need to invest it (with inflation and everything). Putting your money in good real estate is probably the way to go and I guess a Belsize Park house has a rather good resale price – esp. if it belonged to an actor. So he can always sell it if he has the need to.

And yes, the Jag was free as was probably most of his more expensive clothing. He mentioned that Armani gave him clothing plus he sometimes has things from film sets/photo shoots which were probably given to him. He also seems to wear the same clothes over and over again – that’s not very much like a luxury shopping victim. And I rather doubt that his several years old, threadbare thin blue Coriolanus rehearsal shirt was expensive designer ware. 😉

Dining somewhere expensive (how often?) is probably nothing a low income worker can afford, but I would hardly describe it as splurging.

I think in the end he does pretty well.

As to wages: yes, they sound ridiculous. On the other hand it’s a free market. People get paid what other people are willing to spend, it’s economy. And being an actor is a rather risky thing as you have no steady job and most actors, no matter how talented or great they are, never get really high wages. There is so much luck involved, that it’s rather like a lottery game.

      • Lilacflowers says:

“penny’, there was more than one scene re-shot for Thor 2: the opening scene with Loki, Odin and Frigga and the scene after Thor breaks Loki out of his cell and they morph into various other characters, including Sif and Captain America. There may have been more but they haven’t been identified.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Froop, dining at the Ivy, after checking out the menu, hardly seems to be much of a splurge for anyone making even a middle class salary. The London prices seem to be well in line for what I just paid for dinner here in Boston, and I’m not making a supporting actor salary, nor do I have a trust fund.

      • Lilacflowers says:

He also lost a television series, Wallender, because it conflicted with the filming schedule for Avengers. It is very likely the Muppets move or Pirate Fairy or both were compensation for that loss.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Uhm, ‘Penny’, Natalie Portman is a long-established Hollywood commodity and an Oscar winner. She is going to demand top-billing over someone with less experience and without an Oscar, and she will get it.

      • lunchcoma says:

I think he’s been pretty reasonable for someone newly famous, Froop. The Jaguar is from Jaguar. Up until then, he apparently only had a car he’d bought a decade before. The red carpet suits are almost certainly free. His non-working clothes look to be somewhat expensive, but he doesn’t seem to have tons of them. Some expensive meals out, but you don’t see him pictured at those places every night. No golddigger girlfriend. No child support. I imagine his family members support themselves, so he isn’t spending money to buy his mother a house.

I’m sure he lives well, but the only really big purchase it looks like he’s made is the fancy house in the fancy neighborhood, and real estate is generally considered a more sound investment than many other things people spend money on. To me, it looks like the typical case of someone who was raised with money having more experience handling it and access to good advice. Unfortunately, a lot of other entertainers and actors struggle more because they don’t have those resources when they get their first big payday.

      • 'p'enny says:

@lilacflowers yeah, but natalie brings nothing to the thor table. people go see thor for chris & tom. I dont think she is draw that marvel originally thought. they could have put any cheaper actress in that role. it must grate the producers.

    • icerose says:

no he was contracted to play Loki not make Disney films

      • Froop says:

Contracts be be re-worked of course, if he was very unhappy or they didn’t want to use him . Marvel switch things around sometimes. Perhaps they gave him the small roles in kids films to use up a couple of credits, so they could try and rope him in for another bigger contract.

I’m assuming you’ve never actually seen the contract he signed so you can’t be sure it was only to play Loki. Things can change. Marvel is one branch of the Disney tree and I’m sure he used that Disney connection in some way to get those other roles.

    • icerose says:

There was an interview with him and RDJ and RDJ was going on about his points/Profit percentage and you can tell from Tom’s response that he had no idea what he was talking about. The bonus and profit percentage would have netted him somewhere in the 1 million mark from an article I read so if Tom’s agent did not negotiate this for him no wonder he got rid of him. Mind you at that time they had no idea just how popular Loki would become. On the other side with his family contacts getting advice re investment should not be an issue

      • 'p'enny says:

i am musing now, as i am bored. As for the contracts, if Tom was rumoured to be killed off in Thor 2, despite Kevin Feige’s diplomatic back tracking he may got Tom Pirate Fairy /maybe even muppets roles as a sweet-contract apology. Knowing he wouldn’t be offering him roles in the next Avengers/thor3 film. Contract rumours state you maybe on the books for six films, but its an option only. In which case, come Comic-Con and Kevin F has just made an expensive error LMAO and he only has Tom for one more option on a cheap deal -if he had six options not five. In which case Tom needs one more Marvel he gets Tom in Thor 3 for cheap, but if he needs him again its going to cost.

  16. ZsaZsa says:

I’m going to give this Tommy film a miss. I really don’t think he’s got a strong enough singing voice. I’m glad he’s sung only on a kids DVD and not a main film. We might have another Pierce Bronson on our hands.
Also isn’t Hooks voice meant to be deep or is hook a boy in this film?

This best part of the behind the scenes is seeing Tommy’s excitement. You can’t help smiling when he grins.
I bet he would show this film to his daughters when he has children but knowing the way he’ll probably end up with sons.

    • Secret Squirrel says:

Not following you as to why he would end up with sons? He has two sisters and two nieces (as reported by someone else on this thread, I only know of one niece). No nephews (yet) so it seems to me girls are more prolific in the Hiddleston family line in recent generations. I don’t think it would matter though as he would be a great dad to sons or daughters and bring a lot of fun and laughter to either. The smiling fun bunny! He will probably record himself speaking/singing every childhood book he knows so his kids can still hear him reciting a bed time story even when he is away working (or else he would Skype them and act out favorite scenes for them whilst they jump on their beds and give their mother conniptions).

It’s Fassy V Tommy tonight at the Empire Awards. Although quite why he’s in the supporting actor when he didn’t do that much in Thor is a mystery to me. Don’t get me wrong Loki is a great character but he was so effin annoying in Thor 2. It’s like they added more Loki to keep the obsessives happy.

      • Janeite says:

No, they didn’t add more Loki to keep the “obsessives” happy. They added in more scenes with Loki because he is a popular character.

      • Sixer says:

ZsaZsa says tomatoes, Janeite says potatoes!

      • Janeite says:

And what do you say, Sixer??

      • Lilacflowers says:

They also added more Loki scenes because the film didn’t address what happened when Thor brought Loki back to Asgard or have any scenes in which Odin and Loki confronted one another for the first time since Loki fell into the abyss after Odin rejected him. Their test screeners pointed out that those issues needed resolution.

    • Lilacflowers says:

He is a boy in the film and still has both hands. Singing is apparently just a minor bit of the film.

    @ ‘p’enny & Froop

I read a year or two back that Chris and Tom were on $3/4 million eventual for Avengers, Scarlet and others on $6/8 and Downie on $48m!! And that Chris wanted more for Thor 2 but have never heard Tom complain. He did once say when asked why Hollywood cast English actors “because we are grateful and we are cheap!”

Perhaps he believes in sign a contract then don’t moan about it or don’t rock the boat.

    • 'p'enny says:

It’s funny all this pay talk, it does depend who leaks it. Tom i read got approx £200,000 for avengers, and it contributed to a split with his agent. ‘ahem’ amongst other rumours..[this is on Deadline somewhere]. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t get more, once the film did it’s thing at box office. Look at the contract Gal Godot has for Batman/Superman £300,000 for three movies, but a back-end deal of a profits once its released.

Tom comes from a VERY business -focused family, i think he has more class than take it to the press and complain. I would love to be a fly on the wall though as Kevin Feige pins down negotiations with Chris and Tom for Thor 3. Isn’t it strange how since Thor 3 was announced in Jan, not an upto-date squeak has come from any of the leading actors involved?

      • Miss Jupitero says:

When Tom signed on, he was very much an unknown trying to get his foot in the door. Marvel is going to milk that for everything it is worth. The are notoriously cheap. I too heard the 200k figure.

      • ZsaZsa says:

I have no problem with wealthy people and Tom has never complained about being paid less than the others. But he isn’t exactly a poor actor, from twitter he treated them all to a spa day (I hope he’s not reverting back to being a try hard again) at the old Corothia (sp) spa. The prices start at £200 and if you think about how many people were involved it’s a lot of money.
I think we can agree that not having enough Money has never been an issue for Tommy.

      • JoAnn says:

I saw he treated them all w a spa day. I think that probably was his way to say thanks for all the great work and sorry for all the crap you had to go thru. Those people at the Donmar must have been exhausted! I’m sure the actors were happy to have the work but the regular staff (especially security) were put thru the wringer!

  18. pru says:

    He’s too cute.
I’ve mocked him before for being too much of a Disney prince, but seeing him like this I’ve pretty much decided that he really is just a Disney character come to life.

  19. ZsaZsa says:

Tom’s never complained about the money he got paid. There is more chance of him telling the obsessives to Back off and not constantly worrying what people think of him than hear him complain how much he get’s paid.

  20. Annaliese says:

I used to think that Hollywood types had no business complaining, given how much they earn, until a friend pointed out to me some hard facts: Say you earn $1,000,000 for a film. Almost half of it goes for taxes–call it 45%, depending on where you live. Another ten percent goes to your agent. Another fifteen percent goes to your business manager. Another ten or fifteen percent goes to your publicity people. What do you wind up with out of that million? About $200,000 to $150,000. No wonder actors take advantage of the perks of free clothes and cars.

And the really big paychecks, like Downey’s, are often tied to escalators, such as hitting certain box office receipts. The studio’s going to announce the amount that the star will get IF all the conditions are met–but the movie may tank, and the paycheck may, as well.

Sure, they’re still pulling in more than I ever made in a year, but nobody hung a $300,000,000 movie around my neck, either.

    • 'p'enny says:

      @annaliese

yeah, but this where good accountants come in, in the UK all that you listed, agents, managers, PR etc i assume will be tax-deductable. Hey, you can claim you starbucks coffee account, prostitutes, cleaning bills and new wallpaper, buy a piece of art and pretend it is in a gallery, etc etc etc etc . tom will have to pay tax on that free Jag, but he will probably have an accountant somewhere that will claim it all back through some sort of expenses, driving to a Jag headquarters etc

      • Annaliese says:

And he’ll be paying the accountant, too. Most likely entirely separate from the business manager.

Then there’s guild dues, and travel, and half a dozen other things I can’t think of at the moment. And even if they’re deductible, they’re not going to entirely erase that tax bracket.

    • joe spider says:

Well the payments to agents, managers etc. will be before tax.

  21. pixie-stix says:

Interesting he’s in two movies targeting youth market. Good idea, get ’em when they’re young. Muppets Most Wanted looks fun with all those cameos.

I like the Sky Bank Awards pic, he looked so handsome…a year already? Oy…

    • 'p'enny says:

LOL youth market, oh yes. But, his next two films are defo 18+ he’s ticking all the boxes, from age 5-70
